I don't usually find myself in Howard Beach, but I was in the area and decided to check this spot out. The place is really cute with a nice ambiance, and it's conveniently located near the water -- definitely has that chill café vibe. I ordered the honeycomb latte and a chocolate croissant. The latte was smooth and enjoyable, not too sweet, and a great midday pick-me-up. The croissant, however, was a bit disappointing -- it wasn't warmed up (and I wasn't asked if I wanted it toasted), so the chocolate inside was still hard and not very melty or rich like you'd expect. Unfortunately, I got there just after the kitchen closed at 3 PM, so I missed out on trying one of their sandwiches, which I was really looking forward to. I came here today and ordered a spumoni latte which is espresso, pistachio, and mocha. It was my first time trying a combo like this, and it was amazing! I was a bit skeptical about having pistachio flavored coffee, but I highly recommend you try it. It's a small store, so there's no place to sit inside but they do have three tables and chairs outside along the side of the building. They have a few parking spots in the back and a spot on the street too. The employees were friendly, and the service was fast. It's a great local spot in Howard Beach! I was initially excited to have Etto Espresso Bar near my house until I realized that neither the pastries nor the coffee are good. The coffee came half spilled (over the croissant on top of that) and I doubt it was the driver's fault as I saw how it was packed. The spinach and goat cheese croissant was super dry and flavorless. Spotted this tiny coffee and brunch place and decided to give it a try on an early Sunday afternoon. It's basically a take-away spot for drinks or a quick bite. No seats. I was hungry and already had my coffee a little earlier so I didn't get to try the coffee although the drinks looked great. No prices on menu for food or drinks which I thought was odd. Got the prosciutto di Parma sandwich. 3/10. Baguette was okay but not toasty enough for me. 2 slices of prosciutto, got spinach instead of arugula for whatever reason and barely any Brie cheese was spared. $14 for mostly bread. Not cool. My girl got a mini mushroom onion and cheese frittata. Nice small portion for $5.50. Delicious. 9/10. She also got the Burrata avocado toast. Nice size but for $18 and no meat on it seems a little cray. 8/10. The ladies are nice at the front although communication could be better when distributing change and giving a receipt since you don't have prices listed. This will be my new coffee spot whenever I'm in the area! 100% prefer this shop than the busy freaking Starbucks down the road. Here's why... They have a nice arrangement of pastries. I decided to get the Nutella croissant. Don't regret it at all. It wasn't overwhelmed with Nutella; had a great balance between croissant and Nutella in each bite. Interior: It is quite small, I would say like 3 people can fit in there without feeling like they're in someone's space. Luckily, not a lot of people were there so my stroller fit inside. Just got into town to visit our daughter and this cute little gem in Queens. Tasty drinks and toasts. I had the S'mores iced latte, and it was rich, with a very distinctive flavor profile. Tried Etto for the 1st time today . We ordered 2 small capuchinos, 1 croissant with nutella and a sugar pastrie . It came out to about $11. Unfortunately the coffee was not what I expected . The size small is a little bigger then a sample cup . The pastries were nothing special . Won't be returning. This place easily has the best avocado toast I have ever tried in my life. The bread it is on always tastes super fresh and is always very soft. The avocado on top of the bread is seasoned really well and the texture of the mashed up avocado is really nice as well. It is easily the best thing on their menu. A lot of their sweet treats here are also pretty solid. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming every time I come here which makes a very nice experience. I just wish there was more seating. I must say I'm glad this spot. It's hidden for those that doesn't look closely. There store (Howard Beach Location) isn't that big but enough to get customers attention. There coffee is great. My favorite combo Ice Caramel Latte w/ Almond Milk, Avocado Toast and Marshmallow Cookie. Everyone should try that Marshmallow Cookie. This place takes their coffee very seriously. I challenge anyone to name a coffee place they've been where the baristas will dump the espresso grounds rather than use them because they feel the grind didn't come out right. Or throw out a just finished espresso shot because the pour on the machine wasn't the right length of time (to be the target flavor and extraction level). That's Etto. And that attitude to make amazing coffee every time starts with the owner Frank Z. Maybe you've read some of the less favorable reviews here on Yelp and you've seen Frank's response....so he's a little high strung, do you blame him, he owns a coffee shop for goodness sake -- how many cups of coffee is he drinking per day!? Etto is without a doubt one of the most serious coffee options in NYC, period. My new favorite spot in the neighborhood for coffee! Etto has a very unique menu with a variety of different options. Their coffee and espresso is always made fresh, giving it the rich taste that you often don't get when ordering from large establishments that make their drinks in bulk like Dunkin or Starbucks. They also have different flavors, including seasonal flavors for different times of the year. I usually order their Bulletproof Latte or the white chocolate iced latte, both creamy and delicious espresso based drinks! Along with the great beverages they also have many breakfast, brunch, and snack options to pair with your coffee. Although a small spot, they are very compliant with safety measures in the current COVID environment. Staff is always wearing masks and gloves, and social distancing is enforced. Very nice breakfast option. I order via Ubereats seeking a quick brunch order. I ordered the Bacon Egg and cheese, the bomboloni with raspberry filling and the ham and cheese croissant. The biscuit on the bacon egg and cheese was excellent - fluffy and very filling. The egg was soft and soufflé like, and the bacon was good but lacking-the biscuit needed another slice ( I would not mind paying extra for more bacon). The bomboloni was really soft and fresh with a really nice thick raspberry filling. These were my favorite and definitely a reorder along with the BEC biscuit! My croissant was very good but the filling itself was lacking meat and cheese. It definitely needs more ...but all and all it was really nice to order from a non chain and a Queens small business. I love lattes, but it has to be a good latte. I'd rather not drink one at all if I know it's not gonna be good, so I never drink Dunkin Donuts and I'll only drink Starbucks if I'm desperate (customized to minimize the burnt taste). I wanted to love Etto so bad because it's really the only local coffee shop in the Ozone Park/ Howard Beach area. Unfortunately I did not. I tried them a few times, both hot and cold drinks, but their espresso is just off putting to me. It has this weird sour-ish flavor. I've never had anything like it, but I do not like it. Their pastries are good and if they changed the espresso I'd be willing to give them another try. I wanted every Italian donut, every croissant.. I wish I wasn't on a diet because I probably would have bought the whole pastry case. The man behind the counter was SO NICE!
