Okay I had to kill about 20 minutes before the courthouse opened and for someone used to a mild climate it was cold. Sure to the average New Yorker it was nothing but heck if it drops below 65 where I live we start thinking sweater. That being said. The line was a bit long but the staff was very efficient and friendly despite the crush. My double shot Americano was prepared well. This is more of a grab and go and they typical hipster parked in a seat for hours was more of court types with briefcases standing at the various tables. This location went through a months-long renovation. It was a central fourth space for folks in the community: school kids, college students, lawyers and clients from the nearby courthouses. I used this place to work on my writing. As you'll see from the earlier pics, it was welcoming, with plenty of comfortable seating, a communal work table, and individual tables to share with a friend. Even when I came alone, I'd always end up having a conversation with someone new. When it re-opened a month ago, hardback wood chairs and small tables replaced all the comfy seating. They darkened the lighting. Plus, they added a couple of counters with outlets that seat maybe 10 people. Definitely a downgrade, but still a decent spot to work. Today, I went by and was shocked to see all the 2-top tables have been replaced by standing tables. It looks like it belongs in an airport. Message received: they don't want customers to stay. If this is their attempt to thwart any unhoused folks from squatting in the store, it's overkill. I wanted to work there today, purchase a beverage and snacks. This neighborhood has a number of takeout spots and restaurants. But this was the only space where people could have a coffee and get work done. Just the courthouse alone filled this place. I'm now writing this from Gregorys in Forest Hills because they have the comfortable seating and welcoming ambiance this Starbucks has forced out. I'm not big on corporate eateries, but I liked having this place in the neighborhood. They completely wrecked the vibe. read more

So, it's a Starbucks right? This location is right across from the courts, so it seems they get a lot of action. The wait times are often atrocious, but it's because there may be two whole people making both walk-in and pre-orders. I was there on a BoGo day and these folks earned their pay! I've found the people on the register to be pleasant and occasionally charming. This location reminds me of pre-pandemic Bux. It is spacious with many places to sit and work, outlets to plug in and large windows to people watch. I notice many people sitting with their luggage, killing time waiting to catch a flight They have the usual Starbucks fare. Coffee, teas, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. For years, I've been a loyal Starbucks customer and have even traveled the world to visit your locations. I wasn't familiar with the award system since it's never been brought up by staff at any of the locations I've been to, which was quite surprising. I didn't sign up to the app earlier because I thought having gift cards was a requirement and I'm not that tech savvy. Recently, I was gifted Starbucks gift cards and decided to give the app a try. However, I was disappointed with the service I received at the Starbucks on 89th Ave & Sutphin Blvd in NY. There was no one else in line and it seems the staff still rushed the process. At the cashier, I had my smartphone with the gift card visible, but the staff didn't scan it and instead used the "scan only" feature only. This was strange because gift cards are meant to be scanned. There was no apology or attempt to improve the situation. To make matters worse, I was blamed for not being instructed to scan the gift card by the staff. To add on, I didn't even know the staff name. The staff had a name tag that wasn't printed like the others, so I couldn't clearly see the staff's name. It started with the letter "P." I believe the staff may be a she/they. I believe there's room for improvement in staff communication with customers. It appears the whole staff and other locations might benefit from more comprehensive training. It would be wonderful to have more helpful staff who is informative and excited about the app. I was excited for the app and I signed up primarily to maximize my rewards. From this process, I actually didn't get my maximum rewards as well. As for food, I had the turkey bacon cheddar white egg egg muffin and it was consistent with the other Starbucks locations. The ambiance could be better. Their were homeless people hanging out there so it made it uncomfortable. At this location, I found a seat to enjoy my breakfast, and there was a well-maintained restroom available for use. This is conveniently located right across the street from the court house & up the block from the LIRR & train station, so you can imagine between 8-5 (maybe earlier) it's a mad house in here. I have to be honest & say, compared to some other stores I've been too, they tend to be slow here, so if you can order ahead on the app, that will be best. A plus & one I appreciate is, the staff tends to be professional, but they just have to pick up pace. I also find that sometimes they are out of things (lemonade for example) & this has happened on more than one occasion & I know if you're using something frequently, it will run out, however at 8am that shouldn't be for a high volume store. Whatever the usual quantity is for orders it should be increased due to the volume of the store. I do think if they tweak a few things, it can get better. read more

I had the worst experience in Starbucks in this location! The Barista Kacey is horrible when ordering 2 Venti coffee almost $9 she refused to provide service stating is self service. Excuse me am I at the gas station! Not even Dunkin Donuts their competitor do that to their customers! It should be an option not mandatory!!! I always get my coffee done this way but this Barista obviously needs a different job. Someone needs to educate these baristas on customer service that is how you grow your business! Only been to this location 1x but it was a decent experience. I worked in starbucks for 8 years so i hold high standards to all stores. They enforced social distancing by having spots allocated for customers to stand on. Masks are required. You can order on the app in advance for pick up. When i got to register the barista was attentive and polite. The bar barista had the area clean and made the drinks perfectly. I also ask for lite ice (a barista hack to get your money's worth) and a lot of stores ignore my request. The seating area is closed but the store was clean and didn't have sugar or napkins around. Located right across the street from the Queens court houses. Good amount of seating for the area. The staff are pretty good and drinks are what they should be. Why 3 stars and not 5? Sometimes they take longer than expected to make a cup of coffee when there's almost no one in the store, especially during the morning times. I'm assuming they were just brewing the coffee, but shouldn't they have brewed a ton of it in the morning before opening...The staff some are nice, and some just act non professional and like they just woke up. I get that the energy levels are kind of groggy and low, I've been there. But if you work at Starbucks and represent the brand, you need to have better customer service and energy levels! The vibe just isn't what I was used to after visiting other locations. There are other mom and pop shops and bodegas around that makes coffee and gets the job done. However if you're in the mood for some corporate coffee and can spend a little more, Starbucks is a good addition to the area of Jamaica. read more

What goes inside the $8 lunch bag? Go there and you'll find out! This Starbucks is very spacious with a good amount of tables and chairs. There is even a private seating area (closed doors) in the back with a few small tables inside. Pretty good if you want to be left alone, it's super quiet inside! Located at a street corner which is right across the street from the Civil Court, you can't miss it! Love taking a walk to Starbucks during lunchtime. They point to a cup with the name covered that had been sitting there all this time. Still I missing my food item. So after telling them 2x what I ordered the girl apologizes and says "oh it wasn't on the order". 30 secs later she peeks in a random bag that was nowhere that I could've reached it and says "it's right here". One of only two Starbucks locations in all of Jamaica, Queens. I can't even begin to tell you just how happy I am to see a Starbucks in my neighborhood. I unfortunately had to report to the courthouse across the street for Jury Duty and when I looked on my map to refresh my street memory I was super happy to see this business here. I even stopped in for a pre-duty breakfast and people watching session. This location is nice as your other typical Starbucks, Great seating, nice sized space, wifi, comfortable chairs and communal tables. Paying is easy and they seem to be set up and accepting mobile orders and payments. The only odd thing, I never saw a printer or my receipt. But that's not a huge problem for me as I rarely ever take it anyway. If you are in the area to perform your compulsory civic duty, feel free to stop in here and brighten your morning. read more
