I would like to write multiple reviews because I had Compass do so much, but I guess I am not allowed to. I hired Compass to design and install a drought-resistant landscape (front and back), build a sturdy and permanant jacuzzi step and rail, run power & install a couple of lamp-posts in the garden they made, run power & water & make a meditation spot at the far end of the property, make an exercise/boxing pitch, and build a path to the house. There are three or four jobs included in this work, and each was done with great professionalism and artistry. I couldn't be more pleased. Rene is a great listener and designed a garden for me based on my verbal description and a few very rough sketches. His design was very artistic, which I appreciated, and the finished product is as artistic as the design. The quality of the work he did and the materials he used is top of the line. His selection of colorul and interesting plants was tasteful and consistent with the ecology we live in. The landscape he made for us has made a garden of our property that is a pleasure to sit in. I couldn't be more happy with it. Rene made some excellent suggestions for the jacuzzi step and rail, including using Trex, which turned out to be a terrific idea. One job that isn't completed yet is removing a city tree, and that's only because city government is slow and tedious. Even here, Rene has navigated the bureaucracy with much-appreciated tenacity. The city completed its inspection last month and I expect an approval to remove the tree with all the speed the urban forestry department is known for. I'll have Compass do that work, too, when the time comes. read more

I do not have words that can adequately express our pleasure with the landscaping of our front yard by Compass Landscape Construction, Inc. Rene worked closely with my wife to bring our vision for our front yard to fruition. Although we had some definite ideas about the project before contacting Rene, he made suggestions to my wife that enhanced our vision for the front yard significantly. As a result of Rene's efforts I don't mind immodestly saying that our front yard is the premier front yard in our area. When the job was first finished neighbors would just stand and admire it. And there was nothing unusual in having a neighbor stop and engage us in conversation about how much they liked the front yard when they would see one of outside. They're pricing is reasonable, their crews leave the worksite clean at the end of the day, and they are very efficient. In a day and time when you hope and pray that a contractor can meet your expectations, Compass Landscape exceeded our expectations. read more

Our yard had been suffering from years of neglect and a decrepit irrigation system. Compass Landscaping transformed our entire yard and it is amazing! The scope of work for the project was not fully worked out with the one drawing that I used as the basis for the bid. Rene provided a competitive proposal and was very flexible to work with us as the details of the landscaping emerged. His contract extra was reasonable and well defined. The work by his hardscaping crew lead by Gustavo was well coordinated and well executed. They had little room to stage materials for the work in the back yard and managed it well without impacting my neighbors. The Landscaping crew lead by Eli worked hard and did well when the completion date was moved forward. Although, some attention to detail was encountered at the end of the project. Overall we are very satisfied with the work and we plan to work with Compass in the future. read more

Compass Landscape was as good as it gets!! After getting a few other estimates and not feeling good about the people that came out or the estimates I was given, I stumbled on Compass Landscape by looking at Yelp ads. I could not be more pleased. Rene and his group were extremely professional. they started the job exactly when they said they would and finished ahead of schedule - even after I added on a few more projects. They did pavers, large pergola, electrical, sprinkler system in the backyard, planted trees, installed artificial grass, fixed drainage system and increased height of by fence. I've had over 10 contractors do work for me over the past year and they were clearly in the top 2. I would highly recommend them - in fact I intend to use them again for 2 other projects. read more

Rene and the whole crew at Compass are WONDERFUL!!!! Our yard was very overgrown and tired. Rene gave us a comprehensive plan to overhaul everything! We couldn't be happier. He also redid our sprinkler system with drip systems to protect the sides of our home and replaced old control boxes. His crew is hardworking, pleasant and professional. I had an unrelated sprinkler emergency that Rene took care of in a matter of an hour. He also stands behind his work. If a plant he recommended doesn't grow properly, he replaces and makes it right. We had a very good experience with Compass. They replaced our deck and concrete patio then landscaped newly exposed ground. The deck is approximately 1200 square feet , down from 2000, and looks great. The patio is made of pavers to match the driveway. Rene knows what looks good. He gave good advice on materials and colors. He could see the final product "in his head" when we had the first interview. His crews are masters of their craft. The fit of pavers and planks are flawless. Framing of the deck is stronger than that of the house (ca 1960). These men are artists. read more

We picked Compass because we thought they had the scope and expertise to handle the variety of skills the job required -- minor electrical, sprinklers, fencing, walkways, stone work, trees and shrubs. Rene and his crew did a fantastic job replanting our hill and reworking our irrigation system. The crew was punctual and completed the project on schedule and cost. Rene worked with us to select plants and develop a plan for our hill. If something wasn't quite right, the crew corrected it immediately.
