Working with Doug Schonfeld at Chef Toys has been an exceptional experience from start to finish…read more Doug is a wealth of information when it comes to EVERYTHING that belongs in a kitchen. He has a way of explaining things that makes even complex decisions feel straightforward and manageable. What I appreciate most about Doug is how genuinely helpful he is. No matter the question or challenge, he takes the time to understand what's needed and always comes back with thoughtful, practical solutions. He's a natural problem solver who anticipates issues before they arise, which makes a huge difference. Doug is also incredibly responsive. Whether it's a quick question or a more detailed request, he consistently replies promptly and thoroughly, keeping everything moving smoothly. Above all, Doug is honest and trustworthy. His recommendations are always grounded in what's best for the situation, not just making a sale. That level of integrity is rare and makes him someone you can confidently rely on. Doug is the reason we love Chef Toys and continue to choose them every time here at Orange Coast College. His professionalism, knowledge, and dedication make all the difference. I highly recommend Doug at Chef Toys to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, and genuinely supportive partner in kitchen equipment.

I have a trusted knife sharpener, but wanted to give Chef's Toys Knife Sharpening services a try…read morebecause it's close to my work. Bad decision on my part. When I got back my "sharpened" knives, one of them had nicks and burrs. I don't know if you can see in the photos. The bottom part of the blade feels chewed up and rough. I had two other knives sharpened and they're not as sharp as when I've had them done with people who know what they're doing. I will only go back to see ask if they can fix the one with the nicks. After that, never again. I'm actually scared to have them touch my knife again, but it's want them to be aware of the lack of quality. If you care about your knives, call ALL SHARPENED UP (Orange County) or GARY'S KNIVES (South Bay and West Side) instead.

On February 28, my friends and I asked an employee near the office where the ATM was. She ignored us at first, and later we saw her walk past us with another employee while laughing and directing racial slurs toward our group. On March 7, we encountered the same employee again and she once again shouted racially offensive language toward us. Then on March 8, the situation escalated. As she walked past us, she hit my shoulder while passing by and yelled racial slurs in both English and Spanish. I reported the incidents through OCC's complaint system but had not received a response before the third incident occurred, which is extremely concerning. The employee's name is Karen L. I'm sharing this as a caution to other minority customers. No one should experience harassment or discrimination from staff at a public marketplace.

Regretfully, not even half the regular spots were occupied with salespeople, selling their goods. Attendance was not very good as well. With everything occurring in Orange County, it seems like the Orange Coast College swap meet, has greatly been affected. Perhaps in the upcoming weeks, selection, and value, will prevail once again. But for now, I want to show my support by being in attendance, and choosing to purchase items here today!

If you're thinking twice about getting permanent jewelry, Balboa Gold is THE place to go. Sweet…read moreowner (Savannah), great prices, a beautiful selection of pieces, informative service, responsive communication... literally all of the above. **Walk in's accepted** Pro tip: Go inside the market and you'll find Balboa Gold to the right of Sunright Tea Studio. If you're still confused like I was, feel free to call Savannah, she is VERY responsive. I'm an anklet girly, and it's the one piece of jewelry I never take off, so I figured I might as well make it permanent. SELECTION: 10/10 Whether you're a gold, silver, or mixed metals person, Savannah has it all. Her selection of chains and pendants is so cute, with a beautiful mix of dainty and statement pieces. There was so much variety to choose from, it was seriously eye candy for me! She also offers both permanent and non-permanent jewelry, so if you're not quite ready to commit, you can still get a beautiful piece without making it permanent. SERVICE: 10/10 Savannah is such a sweet, kind gem! My first impression was from calling her three different times, and every single time she was patient, friendly, and incredibly responsive. When I met her in person for my appointment, she was just as wonderful and so informative throughout the entire process. I especially appreciated that she asked for my opinion on the anklet length and made sure I was comfortable with the fit before permanently welding it. She never rushed me into making a decision. She was easy to talk to, kept great conversation, didn't judge my dry-looking ankle hahaha, and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. The process was quicker than I thought as well but not in a way where it was rushed or poor quality. VALUE: 10/10 I got a 14K gold anklet with a pattern that looks like tiny little infinity symbols. It was $65 plus $5 tax, making it $70 total. Personally, I think that's a great price. Savannah also explained that the jewelry is TSA-friendly, doesn't tarnish, and if I ever need to remove it, I can carefully cut it at one of the links (you'll be able to tell and see it, it's a circle piece) with proper jewelry cutters. Then I can take it to a local jeweler, who should be able to reconnect it. Overall, I had such a great experience and would absolutely recommend Balboa Gold if you're considering permanent jewelry. Whether it's your first piece or you're adding to your collection, Savannah makes the entire experience feel easy, comfortable, and exciting.

They have a small selection of gold charms and an even smaller selection of silver charms. We walked in mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and it was empty. It was so peaceful digging through charms to build a bracelet. The biggest flaw is that they have a very limited selection of bracelet and necklace options to choose from. We ended up selecting a bracelet and a bag charm. Not sure the value for everything is the best, as it ended up being quite pricey for two charm bracelets. Overall, a charming space and such a fun time. I recommend checking it out!
