We spent all afternoon at the beach and after hitting a few bars and game rooms in the area, we wanted a sit down place quiet enough to talk and catch up with friends. This place turned out to be perfect for that. It's on the 2nd level. So it felt a bit removed from all the crowd but still easy to relax with a beach view. We were invited to Con Murphy's for a birthday party this weekend. We didn't realize it was in the middle of Spring Break, so the traffic getting there was pretty bad. The best parts about Con Murphy's are the beach view and the food. I asked for a glass of water and was told they only serve bottled water. I was able to order club soda instead, so it's not like they were under a boil water advisory. We were only provided forks for our meals, which arrived quickly. We needed a knife to cut our sandwiches in half (we were sharing) and it took so long to get the knife that our sandwiches got cold. Otherwise, the food was tasty and prepared well. Before arriving, I Googled parking for Con Murphy's and a Facebook post came up saying that parties of 4 or more can park for free in the adjoining Beach Place garage. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told that they don't validate parking anymore. The cost to park ended up being a $50 FLAT RATE. I only thought I was losing out on maybe $10 bucks so I didn't say anything, but other patrons may not be so nice. I highly recommended taking that post down. Overall, the food was good but the service was only ok and not worth the hassle to get there and park. read more

Con Murphys Ocean Bar was a cool spot on the beach. After a day of being on the beach and having drinks we headed there for dinner. At first we sat at a table, but then realized if we sat at the bar we can enjoy their deal 10 chicken wings for 10$. The server was not very polite when it came to us moving from his table to the bar. The bartender that greeted us was very nice and attentive. They are having some specials on appetizers and I got the loaded tater tots and the mini sliders. The loaded tater tots were tasty and full of flavor. The sliders honestly were horrible. There was plenty of the 'good stuff' accompanying the lettuce... so you didn't have to try and save some for when you get to the bottom of the bowl. OMG. So refreshing. First time enjoying Ft. Con Murphy's is a decent bar and restaurant. It's probably more of a bar but we came for both and the food was quite good. We came for late brunch and the chicken and waffles was huge and delicious. Our server was amazing and took great care of us, although it was a pretty quiet time and only a few other tables were seated. Given the vibe of the place, the prices were high, even for a beachfront establishment. First of all, the second-floor sports bar vibe and a front-row view to the beach, provide a setting that is great. Our waiter Anthony was impeccable in his service earning a 25% tip! The food is above average bar fare, and in some cases exceptionally above average, as in the Thai Shrimp Tacos! WOW!!! My wife loved her blueberry salad, and I had a dandy Burger and Fries which at $9 was a steal as the deal for the day. Bar scene is nice with TVs for watching games. I was greeted right away and seated at the bar. The view was amazing since it was right across from the beach, and the music selection was decent. All of the food was tasty, but I was really interested in the happy hour drinks, so I ordered a margarita and did a round of tequila shots with the couple next to us at the bar. Con Murphys was the perfect kick off to our vacation. We were feeling good and needed some nibbles to get the evening going. It was empty for a Friday evening, but it was also perfect. The waiter took great care of us and we had the best view. We ordered lychee martini, gin and tonic, margaritas, blueberry mojito and tequila shots over the course of two days (because we doubled back the next day). We also tried the house seasoned wings, loaded potato skins, fried grouper bites, fries, and spinach dip. First stop on our Ft Laud Strip Pub Crawl. We had to try the buffalo wings with blue cheese and hot sauce in the side. The wings which were on the Wednesday happy hour menu for $1.00 each with ten minimum. In addition to the wings, we ordered a Vodka Soda Water and a Bud Light. 2 for 1 well drinks and $4.00 Bud Light. The drinks were prepared quickly and the wings arrived within five minutes. We sat at the bar in this Irish pub with an open view to the ocean. Irish name but more of a surf theme with a large Santa Claus at the door - not sure about the Santa. If you value any decent service at all don't bother coming here. Kevin was the bartender on a Friday night with 3 other groups at the bar he was about as bad as they come. No motivation to do anything when it comes to guests. We came to eat and from the time we were handed menus we went 20 minutes with being ignored before we asked for our checks to leave. Kevin, maybe you're a decent bartender usually and maybe you had a bad night. Or you just had a problem with us for whatever reason. If you're considering coming here, just play it safe and don't. We have enjoyed Con Murphy's in the past. Yesterday, Dan and I split a sandwich. One slice of toast was burnt. They served it with the burnt side down so we didn't see that when they brought it to us. Otherwise we would have sent it back. We didn't notice until we started eating it and wondered what that unpleasant taste was. At that point, we didn't want to take the time to send it back. We had a discount card from our hotel. Great location! This place is on the second floor close to other bars and restaurants and shopping. It has a great view over looking Fort Lauderdale beach. We were able to get a table right next to the balcony which was perfect because you get the view plus fresh air but it's still covered. We ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread, sweet chili shrimp tacos, and the blackened grouper sandwich. All three were so delicious! The flatbread was nice and crispy with a lot of bbq sauce, would order again. The shrimp tacos were PACKED with shrimp. It was a little hard to eat as a taco so I just ate the shrimp mostly by itself until there were only a few pieces left and then ate as a taco. The sweet chili was almost like a glaze on the shrimp, might be my favorite shrimp tacos ever! The grouper sandwich was also so good. It tasted fresh, perfectly blackened and nice and flakey. Had the Potatoe skins for an appetizer and they were excellent. Not the preheated frozen kind. The Blackened Grouper was a swing and a miss. It was not blackened but drizzled with a hot sauce and a bit undercooked. The fries were not remarkable. Server was excellent and deserved credit for making the visit worthwhile. Drinks were good.
