A few co-workers and I popped in here for lunch. There was a sign that said wait to be seated. We waited an exceptionally long time and no one ever came so we sat ourselves. When a server came we ordered some chips and queso. The chips came and seemed like the bottom of the bag. They were all broken and stale. The queso was cold, not even lukewarm just cold. We asked for it to be heated and I'm fairly certain they just put it in the microwave for a minute. I ordered a bowl with "grass fed" steak that they up charged me for and it was basically burnt. The food was sup par at best and the service was just as bad. The prices were super inflated too. $25 for a taco bowl is ridiculous! Overall not a bad little taco/burrito place. They have some decent margaritas but the food is actually ON POINT! for the most part . First of all the service was spectacular. Hands down, no questions about it, my server was amazing. I had the Baja Shrimp Taco, the Blue Dream taco, and the Braised and Confused taco. The only one that was a let down was the Shrimp Taco. There were 3 (maybe 4) tiny shrimp and a ton of filler. The other 2? Freaking amazing!! So much flavor and completely packed full of ingredients. I had the margarita flight since they were out of ingredients for the seasonal options but the Prickly Pear Margarita was really tasty. Price wise they are pretty on par for the area. Great vibe, great food and great service. As with any Mexican style restaurant, I always start gluttonously with chips and salsa. Condado Tacos has great salsa and some really thick chips (probably the thickest I've had). Next I ordered a build your own bowl. There were tons of options and combinations. The bowl was similar to a Chipotle bowl but with alot more options. I opted for the black beans and rice bowl with tons of toppings. I also went for the house salsa with the house hot sauce and it was definitely hot! The service was great and super quick. Great new spot with an awesome tequila selection!!! They have my favorite! The Casa Noble Anejo. Food comes out insanely fast! Our server informed us they try to keep their ticket times under 5 minutes!!! That is insane! Definitely come try this place out if you are in a rush. This is a relatively new restaurant that just opened up in the Piper Glenn area. Below are some notes about my experience to help you decide if you would like to dine here. There is plenty of shared parking. They have a friendly and attentive team. The bar is fully stocked which is great! The drinks are strong and tasty! There is an extremely long wait time for food and to be seated. We waited almost an hour for four tacos. I suggest ordering an appetizer. The artwork was colorful, and vibrant, however, had a very twisted dark side to it- Graveyard, smoking red riding hood, wolves etc. They only have two stalls in the girls restroom. I'm surprised because there's more females than males typically many establishments have have more females stalls than men. My tacos were OK. Nothing special to recommend. The chips were extremely hard and appeared stale. The pineapple guac was not great for us but I am not sure of your taste buds. No recommendations were made by staff on food or drinks. Never went to one of the restaurants before but it would of been helpful. It would be nice if maybe they use one of the corners to have a live band. They advertise the app and its suggested on everything or advertised constantly in the restaurant. However, when you download the app, you learn that you do not get points for alcoholic beverages. Ample indoor seating as well as decent patio seating. They offer a pretty good LUNCH MENU deal that includes 2 taco choices and a half size portion of any of their dips (queso, guacamole,Mexican sTreet corn, etc). Their are a few awesome daily specials like Thursday $22 Pitcher of Margaritas and Happy Hour eats and drinks from 3pm-6pm. We ordered 3 sets of the Lunch special which included the Korean BBQ pork taco, Bad Habit Steak taco, Braised + Confused taco, and Orange glazed Chicken Taco. Side dips included the Smoked Cheddar Queso, Blanco Queso, and the Mexican Street Corn. We washed all that down with two Mango Jalapeño Margaritas, one frozen and one on the rocks. The restaurant was clean, urban hip decor, and bustling. The early 2000s alt-rock was a surprising music choice but a nice nostalgic throwback. What we ordered: - half order of the loaded tater tots. It was more like two giant tater tots, which I didn't expect, but it was very tasty. The dish they served it in made it challenging to eat, especially with a plastic spork. The pickled jalapeños were great! - we shared 5 tacos and I'd say 2 tacos per person is definitely filling if you go in hungry. I loved that they had ones that came with both a hard shell and a soft taco. My favorite was the heat (I think it was called). The tacos are a nice size so it was actually filling. I also had a swole bowl which was really good, it was packed with so much. I ate at Candido's once before in Ballantyne, NC and the tacos were ok. When my wife called me up to see if I wanted to go to lunch I thought I'd give them another try. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. Not a cheap option. The build for this burrito is made to fill you up with "fillers" in my opinion. Most of the burrito was white rice. Who puts white rice in a Carne Asada Burrito?! There were some black beans (filler.) It was wrapped in multiple tortillas (filler) to the point the plastic knife was having a hard time cutting through it. The meat portion seemed to be about a table spoon. Supposedly this burrito is layered with smoked cheddar queso, and Southwest crema, both undetectable. I looked at the picture on their website for this burrito and had to chuckle. They show it stuffed with meat. Maybe the hand holding the burrito in the photo with long green dragon fingernails, multiple thumb rings and a giant stone ring should be a clue... Ravi our server was a nice kid but he was poorly trained and had to go ask his manager or the bar tender every question that I had. He said that someone didn't show up for work and that's why it took so long for everything. I have to say though that the bartender took her own sweet time in filling our drink orders. Condado nickels and dimes you for everything. I've been a beer drinker for quite some time and I'm pretty sure that the little mugs that they pour into where not pints but that's what the manager told Ravi and at seven bucks a shot, they should be. Be prepared to pay for chips and salsa and the chips are absolutely horrible. Unsalted and hard just like Denise B. said. Salsa and queso come out in a tiny bowl. Queso was good just not worth price. Salsa was bland and not so fresh. My two tacos would have been fine had they not come with the same taco chip shell. It really ruins the taco. The price of the Queso isn't worth the price which they have two sizes and it's not filled. (Half size $5 and Full size $7.50) I placed an order on May 24th, 25th,26th (Queso all three times) May 25th was filled bc I literally added a note to my order. My last and final order was on June 1st I looked at my order before leaving and asked if it could be filled, the young lady said "sure and walked away, bc she saw what I saw" the manager walks back with her and gives me a reason about ounces and so forth .. I've got very mixed feelings about Condado Tacos. I've gotten them exactly one time and ordered ahead for a pick up and had a not-so-great experience at the restaurant. Pros: The setting of the restaurant is super cool. Very artsy. Very lively. TV's everywhere and it seemed like a good time. There were a ton of different tacos and they have some rotating specials. Their queso was a 4/5 and the chips were bomb. I got three different tacos, one was a 2/5, one a 4/5, and one a 5/5 (sorry I don't remember which ones). But for the most part, I like the food. Cons: I got there at 7 for a 7 PM pickup and ended up walking out of there at 7:40, got home (I like 7 min away), and the food wasn't even hot. That was a little disappointing. And while the staff was effusive in their apologies, they did nothing to make it right or soften the blow, just let me know they were backed up and I stood there for the better part of an hour waiting. Overall I think the food is good enough that I would be willing to come back in to the restaurant and eat there, but carry out i'll have to allow for a lot of extra time. read more
