This was my third visit to Condesa and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. From the time you walk in the door to the time you leave the staff pays attention to you. The decor is open and colorful but colorful in a subtle way. The menu is not your average Mexican menu, for instance, tacos, enchiladas, burritos; it does offer them; however, it has several different Mexican entree options. As soon as you sit down you are given complimentary chips and four different salsas to sample. The drink menu changes and I had a Apple Margarita; let me tell you deliciousnesssss. My husband and I than tried two different entrees than we had on our previous visits and they did not disappoint. Of course, we ended our visit with Flan. This was my first time at Condesa and I would probably give it more stars had our cheese dip appetizer not have a long black hair in it. I realized it about halfway through our appetizer I went to dip my chip and out came a long stringy hair! (And i know it wasn't mine since I have blonde hair) So nasty. I did tell our waitress who was wonderful, but all she did for us was take the cheese dip off of the bill and not even bring us a new one ?! I was a little confused by that. Overall though we did have a great experience and our meals were very good . If it wasn't for that hair I would probably give five stars. We went here last night on a double date and had a great time. We got there about 7:00 and the place was jamming. The music was loud, but we liked it. It didn't affect our conversation at all. The server was great and attentive, but not over the top. We all enjoyed are food and you could tell there were fresh ingredients. Try the cheese dip for an app, so yummy. I got the sopes and tried chorizo, chicken, and steak ( one of each ). The steak had the most flavor. The cornmeal tortilla was interesting and just something I'd have to get used too. Not a lot of flavor, but I'm guessing that's the idea. My boyfriends meal came with chipotle mashed potatoes, they were awesome! Definitely a place worth going too. I'll be back. read more

I have visited the location in west warwick and loved it when i found out this location was closer to me i was excited to dine in. It was the end of the night on a weekday there was only one other table dining, our food took forever to come out it was awful no flavor and our waiter spent more time chatting with the hostess than doing his job. We ate our whole meal with no drinks because he did not come back with our refills nor could we get his attention. Not sure if this was just a poor visit or if it is always such an awful restaurant to dine at but i have no intentions on going back. read more

4 stars. The food is amazing, huge portions and the drinks are really good. We both got California burritos when we went last night! Love to sit at the bar!! Only complaint is the bartender was not nice at all. We got chips & when we asked for more she said "......ummmmm sure". Only reason we wanted chips was because it took 20 minutes for her to even ask if we wanted to put food in. We were starving!! After we got our food she never asked how our food was or checked on us. Every other bartender and staff there is extremely nice! Sucks because we LOVE the food and drinks there, so guess we just have to suck up having a bitchy bartender. This is now my go to place in the smithfield area for Mexican food. As with most mexican places, you want good traditional food and a reasonable price. This place delivers those things along with a great little atmosphere after they gave what used to be the original Faial, a nice face lift. I love the sopes that comes in 4 or 5 different varieties, of which you can try three at a time. I ordered takeout on cinco de mayo and as expected, it was a bit of a circus in there. My order was in shambles when I went to pick it up but eventually they pieced it together and threw in an extra order for my troubles. Greatly appreciated! read more

Nice to finally have a good Mexican restaurant in town! The Condesa is modern and comfortable with an open floor plan. The drinks are good and the tequila drinks taste like...tequila, not sour mix! Food is fresh and walk the line between traditional and and a modern take on traditional, but also there are quite a few one of a kind dishes that set this place apart! The jalapeño calamari is a nice twist on this local favorite, and the Mole sauce is a sweet and savory and goes well on the chicken enchiladas. The Jicama salad is light and refreshing! Staff is very helpful and very familiar with the menu. We will be back! read more

I rarely give anything five stars but this place is terrific. We were very pleasantly surprised at how great this place was. The quality of the ingredients and the preparation were outstanding. Went last week for the first time with another couple and we all agreed on the excellence of our meals. It's not fancy decor but simple and clean. Perfect for families or a casual meal. We shared an appetizer of cucumber with shaved jicama with a light chili spice. Totally refreshing. I had a shrimp dish and the churros a for dessert. I usually take home half my meal but the shrimp, rice and veggies were so delicious I cleaned my plate. And the churros came with a scoop of what seems like homemade ice cream and I cleaned that plate too (although I did share a churro with my husband). The only disappointment was my drink- a Long Island Ice Tea that was too strong. But did not affect my overall rating. We will definitely go back! read more

Went for the first time on Friday. It looked like a very trendy restaurant when you walked through the doors with beautiful styling. We were immediately greeted by staff which I've noticed in other restaurant experiences lately just doesn't seem to happen. Very quickly after being seated, we were asked for our drink order and provided fresh, homemade chips and four varieties of salsa. I had an extremely difficult time trying to decide which I liked the best as they were all sooo good. We ordered the chicken taquitos as an appetizer. The serving size was huge and again a fantastic taste. I have to be honest that by the time my food arrived, I was stuffed!!! I ordered the Lunch Steak Quesadillas. It was a perfect size and again delicious. Typically, I am not a rice fan because I don't usually find it tasty. Their rice was an exception. It was really, really good as well. Over priced and under delivered. Bought the Taco Mania Passport and this so far was the worst tacos and service. Me, my wife, and daughter came and asked for 2 seats and a high chair and didn't get a high chair for 15 minutes. It would be understandable if it was busy, but there was only one other person there.. after that we asked the waiter what was available for the taco coupons and got a confused and vague response with all his fingers pointing at the taco section and saying "that one, that one and that one"...? After that I had to ask if they had deals on apps because I saw it on yelp but they never mentioned it or had anything displaying the cheaper apps. He brought out the app menu and we ordered the taquitos. That was a mistake. Then we had chicken tacos and a beef and pineapple taco which we got two of each. Dry and bland. Thankfully we didn't pay full price because of the taco coupons however they are priced equal to high-end tacos in downtown Newport. The server was attentive and the food was excellent. There are a lot of quick Mexican places. For a few extra dollars and a little more time you can have an excellent meal. They open with complimentary chips that come with three salsas (mild, verde, and "hot") and a bean dip. The hot wasn't a burn your mouth off hot. It was a nice smokey chipotle, I think. Wanted Mexican food so came here for dinner last night. First impression is an attractive and pristine establishment however the noise level was quite intense which is likely due to layout as well as being Friday night around 7:30. Had the Cabo Fish Tacos and although ingredients were fresh there was a complete lack of seasoning and my disappointing "fish sticks" were over cooked. BF loved his Carne Asada tacos and both our drinks, red sangria and vampira cocktail were stupendous. The service here is incredible. I went yesterday with my mother in law and sister in law. The fajitas were amazing. It was my 3rd or 4th time going and let me just say that their food is fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend the guacamole as it is freshly made to order. I ordered Cochinita Pibil, my daughter order Polo Milnese and my husband ordered the Carne Asada. The appetizer we ordered was Ceviche. It was also just okay. Just went here for the first time, although it's been open practically across the street from my office for a while now. A co-worker and I went for lunch, and it turned out to be a great decision! Really nice atmosphere, attentive, friendly staff, and excellent Mexican food nicely presented. Chips and a salsa sampler pack were a great way to start the meal. As an appetizer, we chose the cheese dip, which was AMAZING...gooey, greasy perfection in the best possible way! We both got enchiladas for our entrees....my companion got the Tampiquenas, and I ordered the Mole. Both were really nice, with superb flavors and hearty portion sizes presented attractively and served quickly. Possibly the worst service I've ever experienced- totally surprised based on other reviews. We get there and we're told to seat ourselves as we're pointed in a random direction with long cafeteria style/length tables set up- I guess there was a college night and the hostess thought we were the regulars. But instead we sat down at a regular table and waited. We continued to wait as so many of the staff passed us. We kept asking for menus and kept getting told just a minute while we watched new people come in and even be served. At this point my boyfriend wants to just leave after we schlepped all the way to Smithfield just to come here. We finally got the menu and then had to wait again. Thank God for the chips, beans and salsa they dropped off or the bf wouldn't have been willing to wait. The hostess had time to come over and apologize before our waiter even came over to take our order (because that's how long it took). We finally ordered. By the time we got our food I wasn't even hungry anymore after having enough time to complete fill up on the bean dip. The food wasn't bad but just overall the experience was disappointing.
