From the moment we walked in, I knew it was going to be a good night - atmosphere was warm, welcoming and had a lot of charm. I've seen on social media that people complained about the new location having mainly street parking - we both found parking easily on the street - quit yer b*tchin' people lol. Besides I believe they have a lot behind the restaurant that we didn't have to use but it's there if needed. We were the only ones there when we first walked in but more patrons came in as the night went on. Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. Yet another case of "why haven't I eaten here before?" Went on a weeknight around 6:15 and it was surprisingly dead. The server mentioned that it's pretty typical for them in the summer. The decor inside was nice and clean but unfortunately the cigar smell from the place next door was nauseating. I've read they are moving eventually and I couldn't be happier for them since it's not their fault the restaurant smells like an ashtray. The food was fresh, cooked perfectly, served hot and we couldn't really ask for more. We had burgers and steak sandos and both were top notch. The steak had a really nice flavor from what I assume was a marinade and the burgers were huge. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the fries. I'm usually not a big fan of fries and these were some of the better ones I've had. You couldn't taste the oil, they were crispy and lightly salted. I'm truly looking forward to going back, hopefully once they're in their new place. I can't wait to try some of their full entrees although I will steal some of the kids' fries!! read more

I came to this restaurant excited because they have gluten-free options labeled on their menu. it specifically says items with the star are made gluten free or can be prepared gluten free. not one of those items besides the salads can be made gluten free. i asked about every single dish that was labeled gluten free and was told it wasn't because of cross contamination and it being cooked with gluten. definitely not an allergen friendly restaurant though they mark it as if they were. the waitress even said the owner refuses to change the way the menu states it offers all these gluten free options. it does not. i ended up with a salad which yes was good. but its not at all what i went there to have. read more

The menu is seasonal which I love, and I look forward to trying a new menu for each season. The location is on a cute little street with on street parking and a small lot in the back. Another day, another wonderful meal at Cook & Dagger! Even though I don't live in this area, it's 100% worth going out of my way to dine here. They have limited hours, and you likely won't need a reservation at least on a weekday. The red sangria was the perfect start to the meal rounded out by an incredible poutine topped with short rib and mushroom gravy, cheddar cheese curds and a fried egg. It's one of my favorite renditions of poutine I've had! I could have honestly eaten that as my entrée and been utterly satisfied. Next up was the short rib grilled cheese with mushroom bisque. The sandwich was lovely, perfectly crisp with a nice balance of fillings. The bisque was tasty but the tiniest bit too salty for my taste. For dessert we couldn't resist the mixed berry shortcake. From the freshly baked biscuit to the pillow of fresh whipped cream and the sweet macerated berries it was the most delicious ending to our meal. I'll also add that our server was really great! He was incredibly friendly, professional, helpful, and was present often enough to provide great service but also gave us our space to chat and catch up and take our time with our meal as needed. 10/10 read more

It was SO good. Sangria, poutine with braised short rib and mushroom gravy and fried egg, and the short rib Mac and cheese with mushroom bisque. We also split the berry shortcake for dessert, which I highly recommend. Everything was so good - it came out quick, hot, and delicious. This place was like no other. I'm typically not one to order a chicken sandwich over a burger but I'm glad I did. The fried chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. The chicken is perfectly cooked, crispy, and juicy. I love that the buns are Texas toast because you don't have to worry about much crust. Plus it was toasted to perfection, warm on the outside and soft on the inside. The pimento cheese is out of this world, it's light but creamy and cheese and pairs so well with the Alabama white sauce. The bacon was very crispy and the right thickness. It absorbed the sauce and cheese so eating the pieces that fell on the plate was like heaven. Everything about this sandwich is perfect and it needs nothing. The crispy Brussels sprouts weren't as crispy as I thought they'd be but I'm glad they weren't. They were good. Not too bitter and a little acidic from the picked onions and sauce. Walked into Cook & Dagger at 9:40pm tonight with friend. Upon entering the building, three employees behind the bar area stared us down without saying a word. To break the awkward silence, we had to greet the staff. Another awkward silence ensues. We then asked if we could still order food (for take out). One of the workers says "kitchen is closed" and turns her back on us. Easily one of the most unfriendly and unpleasant experiences I've had at a restaurant. We were staying near by and ended up coming here twice for dinner. We got take out both nights because we had our pup at home and the takeout was still amazing. We got a burger and fish tacos one night. The burger was so flavorful and the fish tacos were perfectly crispy. The only thing i would recommend was to get an extra sauce for the tacos on the side to dip. Fries were great too. One of the best and in my opinion, most underrated restaurants around!! Everything I have tried here has been amazing- wings are super crispy, brussel sprouts and fried artichoke are amazing. Banh mi sandwich and scallops were great. The cheesecake is LIFE CHANGING. I have tried their coffee oreo and lemon ricotta. So far, no other bakery can even compare to how light and creamy it is. Started coming here a couple years ago and it has now become my go to restaurant in the state. Extremely consistent with their food and drinks. Occasionally the service can be considerably slower when it's busy, but for delicious and unique meals like this I guarantee you it's worth the wait! My go to favorites (some are seasonal): Honey mustard wings, Brussel sprout salad (fall menu), Apple Cider Margarita (fall menu), Grilled Caesar Salad with Chicken (unique in appearance but so delicious), About Cherry (their twist on an Old Fashioned) and the Bolognese. If I just can't decide I am always filled by their standard Cheeseburger. Did you already fill up on dinner somewhere else? Well that shouldn't stop you from stopping by to have a drink and try one of their desserts. The Strawberry Shortcake is light yet so filling. Somehow you can split it between two or three people and end up full. Their Creme Brûlée's are another favorite of mine. One of our favorite places for date night! We made a reservation due to covid super easy we're sat right away. We order the Croquettes we get these every time because they are phenomenal! Third times a charm?? NOPE. After going to this local restaurant twice in the past with less than positive experiences, we were convinced by some friends to try Cook and Dagger again. "There's a new chef!" We returned last week with another couple, and actually had the worst experience of all 3 visits. I called first to ask for a reservation, but no answer and a old message stating that they would be closed for a date that already past. We arrived and were happy to be sat immediatel. Our server might have had too many tables, but didn't appear concerned about the slow service, casually excusing the long wait for food once during experience, not refilling waters ect. He also stated that they "Stopped offering bread for the table since Covid". ??? Our appetizer took forever, but I will say that the Brussels were very good. Even with great conversation, waiting for our entrees was painful. By the time the food arrived I could hardly eat as I has such an upset stomach. The gentlemen ordered cheeseburgers and to be honest, although tasty, doesn't need to be that large ( too large to fit in your mouth). We didn't even attempt desert and could not sit on my metal chair any longer, nor could my husband. Although fitting the estheti, no one wants to sit on a metal chair for 2 hours. The overall consensus is that we spent too much money and too much time on a sad dining experience. We were looking for a local business to support, somewhere we hadn't tried yet. I remembered a FB post by a friend who had eaten here a loved the food (specifically the street corn). The food was perfect especially in such a weird and difficult time when restaurants are trying to pump out take out for so many people. I had been noticing Cook & Dagger for a while and finally got there Friday night. Our lovely waitress asked if we had been before and when she heard we had not, her reply was "buckle up" and she wasn't wrong. I had planned on only getting a main & possibly dessert but she described how good the wings du jour were so we decided to try them. It was black pepper maple and jeepers creepers, they were some of the best wings I have had. They were crisp yet juicy and you could just pull the bone out. Wings along, I will return to Cook & Dagger. Then we both had the crispy cod sandwiches which were perfection. The fish was so fresh and glistening inside a delicate crispy batter. The rolls were top notch as well. Excellent fries on the side. We each had a great cocktail. I had the Oliva B and my friend got the About Cherry. Both were very flavorful and I would have had another if I wasn't so full. I noticed they had carrot cake trifle when i looked up the menu earlier in the day but was absolutely stuffed so took that to go. But then ate it immediately when I got home and enjoyed it immensely. I looked up the details on who the absolute stars are running this place. They state they wanted to bring creative comfort food to the area so job very well done. This was a standout meal and I can't wait to come back as well as introduce others. A hidden gem. The space is large and has plenty of tables open on Friday around 6pm. We started with the croquettes. They were little bites of heaven. I wish I could have 6 more right now. They were fried to a golden crisp and super soft and velvety In the center. The fish tacos were filling and fresh. Only thing I would change would be more chipotle aioli. I could have licked the plate. The French fries were perfectly seasoned and crisp. They give you a nice a heavy hand, which I love. My boyfriend loved his steak torta. It had a huge piece of fried cheese on it and it had a very well balanced flavor. The service was busy but our food didn't take long to calm and the food was hot. In a nutshell, it was the slowest service I ever had for brunch. We stayed there for almost one and a half hours and we spent most of the time for waiting. Especially, we couldn't order for 30 minutes. Although there were 3 servers at the hall. And the foods were not impressive at all after the long wait.
