Best Dominican food spot in Cranston RI ...

Best Dominican food spot in Cranston, Rhode Island. Quick service, great prices, and amazing servers !

Cute place & good food. Mostly fried & all meat dishes, but pretty yummy. The plantains were delicious as well as the fried cheese appetizer. The meat & chicken were basic but good. The music is loud but fun. Worth checking out!

Love, love, love it here! A few times I ordered The Lunch Box for delivery and they never let me down. My family and I all love this place very much. I brag about it all the time. The food is AMAZING and the customer service is great! Also the portions are beyond amazing, and the price is great too. I really have no complaints at all! I have even come here a few times to eat outside on their little patio and I love the feeling and the atmosphere they present here. The servers are so nice and attentive. I would recommend this place if you are looking for Spanish food, such a great place and very tasty food! Make sure you try the hugo de chinola (passion fruit juice) it's so good I love it! Take out or eat here either way you will leave with smiles, a happy and full belly and you will most likely leave with a box full of food.

This is the sancocho, I added the traditional avocado and white rice. Fantastic! I'm craving more.

Whenever I meet a local Dominican in Rhode Island, I ask them for their favorite Dominican restaurant. Recently someone recommended The Lunchbox and I decided to try it. I had dropped off a friend at the airport and decided to try it as I was nearby. I arrived too early for lunch service, but they offered mangú (mashed plantains) a Dominican staple. It was really good with all the fixings. (Photo below) The following week I went to pick up lunch. I had the stewed chicken with rice and beans--again pretty flavorful. I'll repeat this again. Yesterday, I went for their sancocho (traditional soup/stew) the owner told me that it was the best and honestly, it was the best sancocho I've had in many years. My only complaint is that it is only available Mondays, I'd go back for sancocho any day of the week. This was full of traditional flavors, with many types of meats (beef, hen, smoked pork chops) as well as all the traditional root vegetables that other restaurants seem to not include. This is a small no frills kind of place, but if you appreciate really authentic Dominican flavors, this is the place. I hope they continue consistently cooking this delicious food. MUCHAS GRACIAS!

They don't just do Dominican food but American breakfast. This place reminds me of the Dominican restaurants around broad street Providence. I decided to check this new restaurant they i've never been to before but I always pass by when I'm driving here to go to see my dentist. walking in they have a nice patio and I was greeted in a friendly manner by the service staff. I was advised to get the 3 Golpes (Dominican breakfast or 3 hit on the heads. Yikes!): 2 Eggs, fried salami, fried cheese and mangu. I am ordering this for someone but it looked good on the menu so I decided to order myself one too. Drinks called the chinola is a passion fruit drink is something to try while here. I bought the lemonade and passion. I tried to finish but because my eating habits having drastically changed: Very little carbs, more salads and fruits. It was hard to finish my meal because of all the fried meats/cheese and carbs. The service was wonderful and breakfast did not align with what am used to but did love the drink. $6 for the large was a good deal. Give this mom and pops shop out! If you love Dominican food then this would definitely satisfy you appetite. I will definitely come back and try something else.

    Plastic from the empanada

The food used to be good here but it was very salty, even the empanadas were ridiculously salty. I usually don't like giving bad reviews but I found a plastic within my chicken empanada. Was chewing and something wasn't right, pulled a piece of plastic from my mouth. I'm pretty sure I might have swallowed a piece.

I had a great first experience. Our waitress was kind and gracious. Food was great. Probably best for take out. It's a bit small. But besides that .. no complaints..

Upon arrival the room was at 68 (below 30 outside) soooo turned that sucker up. Put it on 74 and thought it would warm up overnight. Arrived pretty late, after 11pm. To my suppose the room was still at 68. And getting out of a warm bed to that was not my idea of a good morning. I called the front desk and the agent confirmed I was using the right thermostat to control the temp and noted that maintenance would check it. That was fixed as when I returned it was a nice balmy 76! Downside though was the unit did an odd cycling thing with warm air....cold air...warm air. So it never shut off at night and tan the entire time. Their drive way is odd, one way only and Tuesday morning there was a delivery truck blocking the exit. Thankfully no one else was behind us so we were able to back out. The room felt very industrial. Concrete walls and high ceilings, with an almost open concept bathroom. Barn door and the shower was a waterfall (over head) with hand held option thankfully. If you've got curtly hair, you know why a waterfall shower is the worst. And to ere was no shower cap as an option. The shower itself did not go all the way to the ceiling which also meant there was no barrier between you and the room. If share with a partner may not be bad but with friends, that's a nightmare. Other downside was the lock was funky. When leaving for dinner, thank goodness I checked the lock as it did not lock. I had to open the door and mess with it to finally lock. All in all decent hotel however I can't say I'd stay again.

My friend had come here before and boasted about their portion sizes, and he was not wrong. I ordered the #10, Harriet's Humdinger, and it was packed with sweet and savory and was enough to easily serve two people. It had eggs (2), bacon (5 slices), toast (2), home fries, French toast (1), and pancakes (2). The eggs were cooked just how I wanted them, the bacon was cooked to the perfect crispiness and the most slices I have ever gotten at a breakfast place, the toast was a bit over toasted but Harriet's has been forgiven, and the home fries were delicious because of the flavor but also because of the different textures - soft, crunchy, slightly chewy. The French toast was simple but so good, and the pancakes were fluffy and massive. The inside is nice, and lots of natural light coming in. It was decorated with St. Patrick's Day stuff, I appreciated the small details. Our waitress was very attentive and charismatic and did a good job of coming around the perfect amount of times.

When we arrived there was parking available and no wait, but by the time we left, the tables were pretty full as was the parking lot. The Cozy Grill is quite literally cozy inside... the menu features breakfast classics but also an impressive Benedicts menu. I'm a Benny girl through and through so this was very appealing to me. I tried their most popular option, the Fig, Prosciutto, and Goat Cheese. It sounds like a bizarre combination for Eggs Benny, but let me tell you, it really works! I was very happy with my choice. The home fries were also quite good. My friend had eggs and corned beef hash. She is a huge fan of corned beef hash and was really impressed by how it was served (more elegantly than is typical). I, never having had corned beef hash in my life, tasted hers and thought it was really good! All in all, I'm so glad I finally discovered this spot. Walked into a cozy cute very busy restaurant, greeted within two minutes, took our Beverage order and was off, They specialize in bloody Mary's mimosas as well as special coffees very nice, back in three minutes with the drinks, taking the order and she was off I must say the waitress is very nice very polite and very efficient! that being said within 10 minutes. The main courses arrived looking fantastic. I didn't post any pictures this time cause looking at the plates from the reviews on Yelp it's basic eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes on a plate no special garnishes so I apologize in advance for that however, the food was fantastic. Everything was hot. My only gripe was being from Rhode Island and the Portuguese community being very relevant here they serve Portuguese chorizo and my wife ordered this and it was quite dry not juicy at all. That was a bummer coming from Florida, You can't get it! everything else was phenomenal I must say this was a great experience and if you're ever in the area for a great breakfast and you want to stay away from the chain restaurants that serve breakfast check out The Rhody you won't be disappointed I have spoken...
