If you've been looking for a Mex-Tex spot , THIS IS IT. Authentic flavors, high quality ingredients, the owner is out greeting and making sure everything is running smooth. Husband and I had the Brisket and chicken enchiladas , DELICIOUS. And my favorite part was the DESSERT that Horchata Crème Brûlée left a long lasting impression. Food was average, with pricing that should be a lot less for what you get. Service was almost non-existent. Asking for things was like pulling teeth. The music was at an obnoxious level that not only made it hard to hear conversation, but made you want to hurry up eating to leave. Only positive was the drinks were made well, little pricey for what you get, but would be the only reason we would go back. The first time the food was okay mostly this time it was flat out not good. The steak enchiladas were overly creamy and really light on steak. The carnitas tacos were dry and flavorless. Those plates are pretty pricey to be bad. The real kicker was I asked my waiter if they still have the trio app (salsa, guacamole and queso). They charged me for each of those individually for a total of about 25 bucks. That's outrageous for small bowls with some lame chips. Overall I spent about 100 for myself and my three kids. Not one thing we ate was worth it including the churros. Sadly. The vibe at the restaurant was cool. No issue there. But the food and price is shameful. read more

Great TexMex food! Small menu but no issue finding something we liked. We ended up choosing the veggie enchiladas and carnitas tacos. The churros with ice cream were fire! Sooooo good!! I came in just for that and a marg around 2:30pm and the server was the sweetest. I have literally had 4 friends come here without me since I've been based on my recommendation and it's our new favorite spot. The space is cozy and lively and the random people who say it's over priced seem to like the cheap quality food you get from a restaurant that orders everything from Cisco foods... you can tell this is legit fresh. Last time the owner talked to me and said the chef was from Mexico City and the ceviche had a few drops of chili oil or paste??? It gives it a kick! And that it's like a Peruvian style ceviche. The service has been friendly and responsive; the food has been good quality and delicious and the drinks have been legit. You should check it out. I would recommend the Carnitas tacos, Birra quesadilla or the fish tacos with the mango slaw. We live in Lago Vista and have been trying to make it this way to check out this establishment. Glad we did because we had an awesome experience! Everything from service, ambiance and food did not disappoint! The co-owner made a point of saying hi and welcoming us and he was out there wiping down tables and assisting his staff. Leander/Liberty Hill has some of the worst Mexican food. We were excited to learn that Conejos was opening. They have amazing marketing/logo so it looked promising. After we tried it, I am convinced that they deserve an award for being the worst of the worst. Pay attention to the other positive reviews, they are either by the owner/family or they are by people who moved here from out of state. Food was extra salty and definitely not authentic. It was neither Tex nor Mex. The price was an average of $35 per plate. Service was extremely slow. Terrible all around. Im Mexican and was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. I know amazing Mexican food and I know good tex mex... this is neither. The "barbacoa" tacos were ... interesting. Definitely not slow cooked (as advertised on the menu), it was chewy and tasted like shredded carnitas instead of barbacoa. My husband got the carnitas tacos, and honestly? We couldnt tell which taco was which. They were basically the same thing lol. "Carnitas" literally translates to "little meat pieces", why was the meat shredded and not cut? They also put your beans on top of your rice too which is honestly so disrespectful to the rice. If you need to hide the lack of flavor from the rice, dont pile unflavored beans and corn on it. The tortillas were not homemade & the restaurant music was SO LOUD. I literally had to yell across the table to my husband and i only heard about half of what he was saying, it was super annoying. Also, we have 2 kids, so it takes us a little more time to get settle and decide on food. I felt like the waitress was rushing us, getting us our check before we even asked, passing out togo boxes before we even ordered dessert (didnt even ask us if we wanted any dessert). It was very much a "lets hurry up, eat, and get out of here" experience. Drinks were good though! Even though they are a Tex-Mex resturant, they should have more cocktail options than just tequila. Theres so many great mexican-inspired drinks that can be made with other liquors than tequila. We'll probably be back for the bar side but definitely not back for a meal. If youre looking for GOOD Mexican tacos, i highly recommend "Take it Easy Tacos" rather than these over priced imposters read more
