The only good thing about this place is the outdoor seating. The service was EXTREMELY slow. The food was incredibly unimpressive. We had the crab dip which was basically warmed up cream cheese. The clams casino pappardelle which was bland. My son ordered the meatball and pasta but I literally wouldn't let him eat the meatball bc it looked so bad. Ordered a "brisketnator" sandwich and their homemade chips. Imagine my surprise when they brought me two sandwiches! The sandwich was packed full of tender brisket, with a nice barbq sauce and I added a slice of smoked gouda,,,nice addition! The freshly made chips were pretty awesome as well. My lunch companion had the Philly cheese steak, said it was awesome as well...(2 sandwiches also came on her plate). Love this place! My boyfriend and I stop here any chance we get. Amazing food, good beer, and friendly staff. Plus, their desserts are to die for! During the warmer seasons, we love to sit out on the deck. However, the inside is nicely lit and stylishly decorated for the winter season and those who wish to dine indoors. Just had the worst $50 meal of our lives last evening. My wife had the Puttanesca seafood pasta and it was awful. The pasta was under cooked and all stuck together in doughy strips, in addition to being overly spicy. More fra diavolo than puttanesca, and even then way hot! I had what was described on the menu as pot roast shepherds pie. I was expecting a decent size casserole with chunks of pot roast and vegetables under the top layer of mashed potato. What I got was a tiny shallow casserole with not the highest quality ground beef and a few peas in what I swear was Hunt's brown gravy from a jar. In addition, the top of the mashed potato looked like it had been gone over with a blowtorch. And the service? We've had better...by a lot. NOT going back. Saturday at the Outlets on Rt 30 we wanted dinner. 30 minutes at the first place, 45 minutes at the second place so we decided to go home. Then I remembered the Conestoga and we gave them a call; no wait! Cool. So we went. Sat down immediately. Waited just a few minutes too long to get drinks, but then, WOW! What a great menu. We went on Memorial Day after driving around to 3 other restaurants and Conestoga was open. I noticed the sangria was on their board as their "special" drink of the night. after looking at the menu I decided to order the drink , and the waiter tells me they are out of it and it should've been taken off the board. So I order an iced tea. My husband ordered a lager, and after the waiter came around for a second time to see if I wanted another mixed drink to order casually mentioned to my husband that they were out of the lager.... ok... 2 types of drinks they are out of. He then brings my iced tea and his moosehead, and we put our orders in for food. We got the crab dip which was tasty, but no crab?! just a dip pretty much of cheese and diced onions and peppers. I placed an order for the turkey reuben sandwich and my husband got the brisket sandwich. After waiting which seemed like FOREVER the waiter brings out our food and gives me the wrong sandwich- he gave me a reuben wrap with corned beef- I asked if it was turkey and he tried to blow it off and say oh yeah I think it is...and I said I think its corned beef. He says " oh yeah I guess it is, but theres only one reuben...I said then why was there a turkey reuben on rye on the menu? He then apologized and says oh my bad, and brings the wrap back into the kitchen. He then comes back out and says "Im sorry but we are out of turkey". By then I had enough I just asked for the wrap that he brought out, and ate some of it. Nothing was resolved, he just said Im sorry your reuben was corned beef instead of turkey- no manager came out to apologize, whoever is stocking the kitchen/ bar isn't doing their job! I worked all day on the holiday and just wanted to enjoy SOME part of it and I am sorry I went to the Conestoga. I was giving it a second chance after the first time of going and getting eaten alive on their deck, and there will not be a third. read more

I also love the atmosphere, after reading Nick L review I'm not shocked anyone that speaks that way was probably frowned upon! During the week the kitchen closes at 11 n 12 mid on weekends so maybe your watch was turned the wrong way if your getting bad food when the kitchen is closed! Okay really a 4.5 stars. Been wanting to visit. Finally went last night. Three couples. We enjoyed everything that was served. Appetizers (crab bruschetta, mozzarella and tomatoes and the Philly cheesesteak spring roll) and entrees (burgers, meatloaf, shrimp, spinach pie, etc). Service was great. We were NOT rushed but they were efficient. Price was appropriate for quality of food. Agree with one comment regarding dessert display - that and the paper menu gave the place a diner feel. A group of about 7 of us went down for a drink at 1130 at night we were the only people there and we got yelled at and told we'd have to leave if we said the word fuck, in a casual conversation with a group of friends if I want to talk and drop the word I'm going to. I've literally fought a war as an infantry marine in Afghanistan and to sit there and tell me I can't use my freedom of speech get the fuck out of here worst fucking bar in Lancaster hands down. Rude ass bartender, and your freedom of speech is revoked. 25$ for two fucking drinks is insane as well, so on that note don't go to the fucking conestoga! whoever the manager or owner that reads this is, i hope you know that your place is trash and no veteran or active duty service member should ever be down there if this is how we are treated. I've been here a few times, we usually just sit at the bar for a quick beer or two the draft selection is pretty decent. We stopped by last night for a beer and a quick bite. We sat outside, the garden area was nice however, the view of the water was blocked by the bushes. (Cut them down a foot or two so people can really enjoy the view) the food was not up to par, although the menu descriptions sounded amazing. We ordered the brisket fries and the Italian chicken melt. The fries were described as crispy, with brisket, cheddar, baked beans and, bacon crumbles. We chose to leave the beans off, fries came and they were soggy, missing the bacon and smothered with bbq which was not mentioned on the menu. We asked that the sandwich come with the L.T.O. and balsamic glaze on the side, the sandwich arrived with the extras on the side but was also missing the Italian meats. It was a huge disappointment. On the flip side our server Ralphael was amazing, he was attentive and personable. It's a shame his talent is being wasted at this restaurant. We'll probably swing by again for drinks. read more

Conestoga Restaurant is a peaceful and beautiful dining experience since it sits right next to the Conestoga River. Also, the food is creative and appears to be high quality. However, people with food allergies- beware! I explained my lactose intolerance and need for a diary-free meal to the waitress. I ordered the sauteed veggie wrap with chips and specifically asked that the feta not be included and that they make sure to sauté the vegetables in oil rather than butter. Unfortunately, when my dish arrived I noticed that the chips were homemade sour cream and onion chips, so I could not eat them. The waitress failed to tell me that they were not normal chips. Then, part-way through the wrap I realized that there was feta cheese in it. This means that they did not alter my order at all for my dairy allergy despite the fact that my waitress said she wrote "dairy-free" on the order. I became sick after the meal, evidence that there was a lot of dairy in the wrap. Food allergies should not be taken lightly because people can get very sick. The kitchen and wait staff at Conestoga Restaurant need to be more responsible and attentive to their customers' dietary needs. read more

It seemed the staff was more concerned about getting their smoke break rather than checking the quality of food that was sent from the kitchen. The conestoga has been around for years and is a local favorite in lancaster. Their exquisite menu satisfies customers of every kind. They have been doing greek week lately which has a menu exclusively with greek food and it is about once every month or so, highly recommend. The bar is great with exceptional alcohol prices.
