Friendly staff but the escalators could use some TLC. They seem to be a mile long and squeak severely.

Passengers are bussed to…read moreother metro stops via a coach bus that is either express or makes stops prior to arriving at Southern Avenue Metro Station. There is a lot of congestion for people leaving and entering since there are only a few entry points. People don't have their fare card out or find out when trying to enter/exit they have no funds on their card and have to get out of the way. The people who are supposed to clean the train do so haphazardly and do enough to look busy. Sadly, people are disrespectful and smoke marijuana on the train with no regard to kids, elders or nonsmokers. Keep your head on a swivel. When school is in session, the teenagers that ride the train are rude, can be aggressive and love to put their bags or feet in the seat when there are seniors or working folks who'd like to take a load off of their tired feet. Best advice is to keep the peace unless you have to speak up. Fare evading is real. Those who do it, do so blatantly. Security on the train is minimal and you shouldn't expect them to do much. Out of necessity, people ride the train and if other options were viable, they'd probably reconsider. However, it's a benefit to have a metro system as an alternative to driving and having to search for parking that has inflated prices.

First time, the bus arrived late and that same ride there was a homeless guy on the bus yelling at everyone racist slurs. Second time, the bus stunk because some people started smoking on the bus. I guess bus drivers don't actually care about the bus laws because they could've just thrown these people off the bus. Instead I had miserable rides back to my hotel.

Christopher set me up with a cab for the day on Thursday ( a whole lot cheaper than a limo) so we could do Arlington, Mt. Vernon and back. The rest of the weekend I used the YCDC App and it worked beautifully. Again, no limos, but timely, nice drivers and easy. We tried to get an Uber once, but ended up going back to Yellow Cab. We had a wonderful time celbrating the 250th, and YCDC took away the travel worries I had envisioned. I will use them again.

My kid goes…read moreto school about a 15min drive from home, but no one is able to pick him up and he's too young to take the multiple busses it would take to get home. I used the YC mobile app & web app twice to get him a ride. Both times it said the driver would arrive in 4 mins--guess that's their default--but actually arrived in 15+ mins. When you book, they just tell you the ride is confirmed, but don't give you any information about the driver or how long it'll take for a few good long minutes. After a loooong wait, it says your driver is 4 mins away. The last time I booked with them, I watched the car on the app that had confirmed just sit, not move an inch, for probably 5 minutes solid. Geographically he was super close. Then for about 8 minutes he just inched along until he did finally reach the neighborhood. BUT, he whizzed right by the school and went down the street and just sat there. I called the service number 3 times-- it's just an automated machine. You can request to speak to the driver. Each of the three times I selected it, hoping to let him know that the school was behind him, it ring once and then hung up. After waiting for 16 minutes total for a car that was in the beginning had been like a 6-minute drive away, I cancelled the ride and ordered an uber for $8 more, which arrived in precisely 4 minutes.

I called him and he had no explanation except "Call Uber". BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. I was unable to cancel the ride for another because your app thought my ride was "in progres" AND it wouldn't let me log in to make a phone call through the app or get help. Over and over again for an hour I tried to get help from Uber and couldn't reach a SINGLE PERSON. When I finally did--all they could do was charge me $30 for the trip you forced me to cancel THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WHEN I ARRIVED and then charge me $78 for a new ride--$30 MORE THAN THE RIDE I HAD SCHEDULED. I've now paid $100 to wait an hour to get home when I should've paid $40 to not have to wait at all. They stole money from me, failed to help me when they left me stranded at the airport, finally *did* connect me with an agent only to charge me more than double for all the difficulty, and then made it impossibly difficult to even ASK for a refund--because there's no phone service for customer support. Just their circular AI and a series of multiple choice options THAT DO NOT COVER ALL POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. They're obviously trying very hard to take ZERO responsibility for your failures. So please know that I will NEVER use UBER again. I'm so done with them that I'm copy-pasting this review anywhere else that I can and giving them as many 1-star ratings as humanly possible.
