Came here 3 times already. First time we had complimentary tasting coupons from Stags Leap. We enjoyed the wine and the information given to us about wine making. We enjoyed our first visit that we had to add it to our itinerary this time around. Our host was Thomas and he was awesome, we even ended up signing up for their membership! If you want to learn about wine making, this is the place to go! They have great red wines that are reasonably priced and they offer other tastings such as making your own red blend!! We haven't done that tasting but it sure is one our list to do so on our next visit! read more

Showed up at Conn Creek thinking it was another place, after making a reservation, and was very pleasantly surprised. We did the AVA Journey, which included a fun shareable charcuterie box. The program included four wines, but we ended up tasting like a dozen and joined the mailing list! I really like the way their AVA program takes grapes from various locations around Napa and encourages them to taste like that appellation. Very cool concept and stupid good Cabernet! Thomas took great care of us and we'll definitely return on our next trip. read more

I recently attended a blending class here. It was incredibly fun. The friend who brought me said she had been at least half a dozen times! And now I see why. I would definitely bring new friends back to this class. It's a great way to experience single wines, that are components to larger blends. You get to taste four Cabernets and then component wines in our case, a Merlot, petit Verdot, malbec, and Cabernet franc. You get to design your very own Cabernet using the other blending ones. No two wine makers at our table made the same custom blend. My only critique is that we were offered a taste of wine when we walked in the door. We left the taste of wine on the counter and were guided into special classroom for tastings. Once inside there, we didn't have wine for the first 10 minutes. If I could change one thing about this it would be, there should be wine in your glass during the introduction. If I do this again and bring other friends, I'll just bring my wine from the front room into the classroom knowing that I hate having an empty glass while someone is talking to me. read more

Came here as a birthday present for my fiancé. We did the barrel blending experience. Was a little hesitant as I am the extrovert of the relationship, and since it was a present for my fiancé, i wasn't sure how it would go. Jesse, though, was amazing. Very knowledgeable and great personality made us feel like we were learning from a friend. He explained everything very well. Came to Conn Creek to do their AVA tasting. First off, Cameron is an excellent wine host. His wine knowledge and excellent customer service was appreciated. He knows how to explain the wine both to someone from the industry as well as a newbie like myself. All wines were 2018 cabs from each AVA in wine country. We've been members at Conn Creek for several years. This is one of my favorite wineries. Their wines are consistently, across the board, very good. Everybody has their own tastes and preferences, but if you enjoy smooth, full-bodied, well-balanced reds, you will like this place. A few months ago we participated in a personalized blending experience here, which was wonderful. Learned quite a bit about the different varietals, and left with a bottle each of our own personal blends. My partner's Irreverent Red blend was bomb, and Conn Creek will be mixing up more of it for us, as they kept the formula on file. Tom will take great care of you here, pay them a visit. read more

We came here for the barrel blending experience and had a fantastic time- this is definitely a must do while in Napa. This was definitely a unique tasting experience & also very educational. Our server / barrel blending leader, Jennifer, was awesome! We started out trying 4 different varietals of cabs and then had the opportunity to make a blend to our liking from the 4. Then after perfecting our base, we tried their merlot, cab franc, Malbec, and petit Verdot and then again, had the chance to add these to your base wine & sample. Once you had perfected your wine, you used the barrels in the room to pour your own bottle. Finally you were able to cork your bottle & design your label. After our blending, we were even offered to try any other of their wines & they did not rush us out. Outside of the blending wines, I really enjoyed their rose! Perfect for a hot, summer day. This place is not rememberable at all. Came here last weekend on Saturday for a tasting. The lady that did our tasting really didn't pay attention to our table and just left us there, the table next to us that came after us ,the guy that was doing their tasting was on it. I had to ask the lady at the end if any of the grapes where source there at the winery and none of them were, so there's nothing special about the the wine here, Except they had 100% cab and 100% cab Franc but you can get that at most places in Napa. Well at least I got this place out of the way I know not to come back here. read more

Had a fantastic experience at Conn Creek! After visiting some of the bigger, well established wineries, it's always a breath of fresh air to visit smaller boutique places like this. Our host, Jesse, was very knowledgeable and had great energy. He allowed us to decide our favorites before revealing his own as to not impose his taste, since everyone's palate is different. He had a great explanation how the same grape can create different flavors and aromas simply based on the soil and elevation of the farm where they are sourced. Great experience for anyone new to wine overall or want to experience the range of flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon! Very cozy and intimate outdoor patio as well. We spent the afternoon of December 27th at Conn Creek doing the blending experience as suggested at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars a few days prior. We were very excited about this activity because we do regular blind tastings back home and always attempt to pick which varieties are inside the wines, etc. which most of the time we are wrong though... LOL. We arrived ahead of schedule and were greeters by Jessica, she offered us a glass of wine while we await for the remaining guests. When we got in the blending room it was immaculate set up for 8 people, so we started the fun and instructive experience. I think Jessica is a great wine educator, at the end we bought 4 bottles plus the 2 bottles we blended and schedule a 2nd Day shipping for the following week. We we got home after the long vacation we didn't get any tracking information, we found out the wine was sent out ground. The wine arrived in bad conditions after 9 days running and jumping from CA to FL... So I got an email from Steve Seaholm the Tasting Room Manager and he offered to redo our blends plus the other 4 bottles and ship out as originally requested. Today I finally got the order, and I'm happy after all the troubles and issues we got the wine in good shape and we'll be enjoying it very soon. Thank you for fixing the mishaps in style. read more

A visit to Conn Creek Winery was akin to that small, elegantly wrapped present that awaits you on Christmas Day: You have no idea what's inside but the exterior looks extremely promising. Conn Creek Winery sits along the Silverado Trail but in a very understated way. When you drop in you learn why; they have only 2 acres of vineyards here so their footprint is baby-sized. But babies leave an impression and boy, that's just what this baby does. As a Cabernet-focused house, Conn Creek Winery focuses their efforts on bottling wine based on AVA. Whether it was this or the obvious talent of their winemaker, I couldn't stop remarking on the silken palate of their wines. Luscious. If, with such elegant wine, you have an environment that plays along the experience is elevated. Conn Creek has an intimate feel and a classy, atmosphere. Tasting ($35 per person) can be enjoyed inside at the bar (while standing) or at your own outdoor table. Either spot is appealing. Conn Creek Winery didn't need to sell me on their offering but the experience was good enough that they could have. I wasn't expecting to open this package and be so taken with what was inside but Conn Creek makes a very good case for doing just that. If you're looking for a quietly elegant, comfortable tasting in a lovely, classy setting you'd be wise to head on over. Reservations are not needed. read more

Came by here on a recommendation from another person. Tom was our host for the duration of our visit. He was nice, but didn't chat with us too much nor did he go into too much detail about the wines. We did enjoy the information he shared about the different soils, giving a visual, that the grapes were grown on and understanding the effects on taste. We were able to hangout in the library room which was fun but felt like a conference room which is right next to the bar when you walk in. I feel we should have instead asked to be seated outdoors to enjoy more of a winery feel. We did overall enjoy the wines, especially Anthology. read more

Excellent experience. They sat us down and gave our group exceptional attention. Maps of vineyards, discussions about particular growing seasons and how that affected the vintages, nothing rushed. We could spend some quality time with each wine and learn about it in as much depth as we liked. Now I'm not a Cab fellow most of the time, but the wines were very good quality. Perfect representation of not just the varietal, but the expression of the Napa region as well. My family and I came to visit for the Anthology tasting experience and it was a thoroughly enjoyable time! All the wines and accompanying cheeses & nuts were beautifully laid out prior to our arrival and our host sat us down without delay. I was pleasantly surprised to see a 4-year vertical of their flagship Anthology red blend, even more so when I appreciated the substantial differences between certain vintages. At $45/person and no tasting fee waived with any bottle purchases, it was a bit on the steeper side. However, I'd say for the quality of the wines, format and atmosphere, it was very well worth the price. read more

I dragged my feet into the Conn Creek Barrel Blending Experience Seminar. I had been excited about it before. However, after a full day of wine tasting and a huge decadent lunch, I was hoping there was a nap in my near future and not a "class." It didn't help that our teacher spoke very slowly, in a monotone voice. ZzZzZzZz I wasn't going to make it. I was sure of it. Someone save me! Upon arrival, we were first given a glass of a white (can't recall) which I barely sipped. I was too saturated by then. Then, as the teacher spoke, we were encouraged to try the provided glass of their ANTHOLOGY and, sigh, I just wasn't a fan. "How much longer do I have to be here?" I thought. Then, something happened...our teacher moved on quickly from his opening statements and right into how our blending experience would work. My interest was piqued! He was funny, knowledgeable, and I realized I was being a big grump. We were given full reign of their many categorized barrels, encouraged to taste them ALL (around 20 of them!!!), and come up with a formula for our very best bottle of wine. My competitive nature perked me right up and I set out to make the winning wine out of our group of 6. Oh yeah! It was ON! We were given a booklet to use for taking notes of all the wines we were tasting. We tasted, poured, scribbled, blended, and taunted each other until we each had our final recipe. Once we finished pouring it all into a bottle, we were taught to add the cork, and also design the label. I had a blast doing all of it and forgot all about how tired I initially was. The class is offered at 10:30am and 2:00pm. I suggest doing this in the morning and not the afternoon. It's $95.00 for the two hours, and well worth it. This is also the perfect choice if you are visiting in a group like we did. We took our wines home (6 of them!) and we plan on hosting a BLIND TASTING dinner soon to crown the winner. I mean, we can just crown me the winner now...but I digress. My wine is called KQ and it consists of the following: 40% OAKVILLE from Stanton Vineyard 20% RUTHERFORD from Hozhoni Vineyard 20% DIAMOND MOUNTAIN from Sorri Bricco Vineyards 10% CARNEROS from Truchard Vineyard 10% spice from the CABERNET FRANC You want a winning formula? You start off by blending 6 Cabernet Sauvignons before adding 4 other choice reds to the mixture. It was a really cool and unique experience, perfect for a birthday present if a group of friends. They keep your name and bottle on record in case you want to order your unique bottle again. (It's $75 for that). Overall, loved the experience. My husband and I turned fifty while vacationing in wine country and thought it would fun to make a custom blended bottle of wine to commemorate our birthdays. I admit we were both concerned this was going to be a bit cheesy when we made the reservation but that wasn't the case at all. Jessica was our host for the experience and she's very friendly and knowledgeable. You start by blending your Cabernet base from Cabernets from five different AVAs. Once you have a base you like you blend that with merlot, Cabernet franc, Malbec and petit Verdot. Once you are happy with your final blend, you start to blend your full bottle, bottle it, cork it, and then put your own label on it. The wine needs to rest for three months before drinking but should be consumed within a year. If you save your formula you can order more wine in the future of your blend. I really do recommend you do this as your first stop of the day. You don't want your palate to be blown out by a lot of previous tastings when you are trying to come up with your own blend. This was a really fun, informative experience and I highly recommend it. read more

Such a cute, little winery! My friends and I stopped by for a wine making class. It was a great experience and I recommend it to anyone who is a wine connoisseur. They take you to a back room with beakers, barrels, and lots of wine. You get a brief introduction to wine around the area. At the end of the class, you will have your own bottle of wine after mixing it up and corking it yourself. The person who oversaw our class was so helpful and nice. She really knew her stuff. By the end of the class though, all of us were pretty much buzzed. LOL. So much fun! The winery is small in terms of areas that the customers can walk around in. I haven't been on the actual tour so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it was. BTW, I really loved the free crackers that they left on the table. I must have ate three bowls full. :) read more

Winery/wines = 4 stars; Barrel blending = 1 star. We've been club members for quite a while - we really like Conn Creek's wines (very good, reasonably priced). However, be warned that the barrel blending experience is a shadow of its former self. We had done the blending exp. 3x over past 5 years & loved the uniqueness of it. We regularly recommended it to all our friends, & even had blind tasting competitions afterwards, i.e., who could make the best bottle. Anyway, it's all changed, your now VERY limited in what u can sample, blend, etc. I understand Conn Creek was one of the latest wineries to get swallowed up by a corporate giant, so I'm guessing changes came about from liability and/or cost cutting :-( read more

You know what's so great about my Yelp friends? A LOT of them LOVE wine! So when doing research for my trip to Napa I was told by two of them that I had to do the Conn Creek blending experience. Hello - chemistry + wine.... this chemist is a happy girl! And at $95 a pop for an amazing experience, the best wine ever, and a to-go bottle of it.... well that's a deal! Most of my group I was going to Napa with wasn't interested (they completely missed out) so I dragged my brother along and told him it was his birthday present lol. He didn't seem too enthusiastic at first but was happy to go along with whatever I was paying for, but in the end left Napa saying this was his favorite part. Book this experience early! We spent a lovely 2 hours with 2 couples and a girls group of 3 and had an amazing time enjoying it all with strangers. Great how wine brings everyone together! We booked the 10:30am time slot and enjoyed a nice Sav Blanc while waiting for the other groups to arrive. From there we were brought into the private blending room for a discussion on the different Napa regions and soil types and how it all affects the wine. Then it was time to taste!! 15 different Cab Savs and 4 other varietals (Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc) and to take notes. It was really surprising to see how different the regions tasted from each other, but in the end I came up with my perfect blend. Blending came down to ratios and if you hand this chemist a graduated cylinder and beaker with wine, you know I'm a happy girl! I won't give you the whole recipe because this is no doubt an award winner and I'm about to be rich lol, but it consisted of 3 Cab Savs, Merlot and Petit Verdot!! Oh, finished off by the corking experience....and decorating my wine label and naming it. For a 2 hour experience, this FLEW by!! We managed to walk out right on time, but that's only because we went with our first formulations and didn't tweak much (we had a lunch to fit in between appts!) but I'm sure others hung around for a bit really perfecting their wines! If wine is bottled poetry, then Conn Creek is the master training its apprentices to write better poems. While the main wine tasting room is unremarkable compared to the others in the area, their wine blending class is nothing short of resplendent. Napa offers everything from bike tours to spa retreats, but undoubtedly the wine is really what puts the county on the map. After some research on fun and informative options, we decided to try Conn Creek's AVA blending class. Following the instructions on their site, we made our reservations months in advance, which turned out to be a smart move since the class was packed. Upon check in inside the main tasting room, we were greeted warmly and offered a glass of nondescript white wine until the others arrived. We mingled, and chatted up our classmates, until we were told it was time for us to move into the lecture room. We seated ourselves at the long table, trying hard to resist the temptation to immediately start playing with the beakers and cylinders. Okay, so after a day of eating and drinking, you don't exactly want to sit through a tedious lecture. However, if you can steel yourself, you might learn a couple of really interesting facts, and unlike most wineries, it comes without a huge sales pitch to join their wine club. The instructor was jovial and lacked any pretention you might get elsewhere. After an introduction to winemaking, and blending, they gave us the instructions, which was followed by the delightful phrase "now go taste." 20 minutes, and about 18 varietals later, I had pages of descriptive notes and I was ready to start creating my own blend. Some trial and error, and a healthy mixture of cab-dominant blend mixed with a couple of other styles led me to my perfect combination. Then it was time to funnel, bottle, cork, and create a label for my new creation. The entire process was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed exploring the well-kept gardens outside the lecture room as well. Blooming roses, and a gentle fountain make for an idyllic landscape. Although they don't recommend trying to age the wines beyond a year (since inherently there will be some oxygen you trapped while bottling), we found this wasn't an issue as we couldn't wait to get home and see how we fared as wine blenders (I think at most we lasted two months). Truly a memorable experience for us and our friends, I'd highly recommend making the Conn Creek AVA blending class part of your trip to Napa. read more

My Grandma, who is a local from Napa took me and my mom to this place. They definitely have the cheapest tasting fee, only $35! The staff was very accommodating and the wine was good. it may look small from the outside, but the inside is beautiful. The one thing i thought was cool about this place compared to the other wineries we went to, was that they showed you the soil samples in test tubes that the grapes were grown from. We enjoyed their Chardonnay and decided to get a bottle and with that our tasting fee was waived! I honestly think that is how all wineries should be. We discovered that lots of these wineries in Napa will only waive your fee if you buy two bottles. read more

I loved my experience at Conn Creek. My two friends and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon, and were a bit confused when we walked in and the place was completely empty. But Tony soon came down the stairs and led us on a great wine tasting journey. We decided to go with the Cabernet Sauvignon AVA tasting, which included four different Cabernets grown in different vineyards. It was really interesting to taste a single varietal and see how they were different just based on the area where the grapes were grown. Tony was very friendly and fun throughout the whole tasting, and taught us a lot about the different wines. At the end of our tasting, he didn't even charge us for the $25 tasting and didn't try pushing any bottles or club memberships on us. It was so nice! We had a good experience at this winery. A friend of mine is a fan of the Conn Creek Cabernet and suggested that we stop after having lunch at a nearby restaurant. They offer a tasting of AVA specific cabernets, which I was interesting and a little different. Tony was knowledgeable and entertaining. We enjoyed it. They also offer a Barrel Blending Experience, where you taste the components and make your own blend. Then they bottle it, you cork it, label it and take it home. As I planned my winery visits, I decided that I would head up to the area that someone recommended with the best view. We arrived at Rutherford Hill Winery around 9:30 a.m. (my body was still on central time). It wasn't until we waited over 30 minutes there that we were allowed into the tasting room, and then learned that the first tour wasn't until 11:30. I was only in Napa Valley for two nights and one day, so that was a bummer. The guy at Rutherford Hill Winery gave me a two for one card for Conn Creek, although I'd never heard of it, I decided to stay in the area and checkout Conn Creek. The lady who gave the tasting and the history of Conn Creek was so nice and knowledgeable. We did walked away from Conn Creek with an entire different appreciation of wine. She told us about how the grapes from their wines come from different regions of Napa Valley. The soil all around the Valley is entirely different in each area and it changes the taste of the wine. She even showed us vials of soil as a visual demonstration. The wines alone were five stars, but thanks to the awesome lady (I wish that I would've caught her name) the winery and the tastings too were worth the trip to that part of the valley. read more

Really superb tasting room set up. Inside, there is a stand-up bar but there is also an inviting "library" area with comfortable seating. I also appreciated that the air conditioning was blasting on this very hot day. Outside, there is a nice courtyard with hightop tables and lower ones, sun, shade...If you can't find your perfect tasting position and situation at CC, you're probably unreasonable and no fun at parties. Our tasting was led by a very knowledgable guy who not only educated us about the wine and the grapes but also the soil and other factors that make the glass great. The wine itself was wonderful. I'm not a rosé fan but they had a malbec rosé that knocked our socks off so we walked out with a couple of bottles of that. All in all, a great tasting experience. read more

The wine was overall not bad, but it was probably my least favorite wine that I tasted on our 26 winery tour of Napa. The winery itself is set up very nice, well designed and the employees were very nice and knowledgeable. I am giving a 3 as it is was nothing to rave about in regards to the wine itself and a very small tasting area. Happy to have tried it with a 2 for 1 tasting, but we didn't end up buying any wine.
