Jack Doyle's was a touch less crowded than the Tailor Public House down the street, and we needed a place that could serve us drinks and have space for one of our friends to enjoy some food. It's a solid spot that serves solid Guinness pours and Jameson neat, which allowed me to settle into a state of contemplation while Oasis tunes banged out the speakers. My friends enjoyed some bangers and mash, which looked ok, but I didn't have a bite of the dish. The bartenders were reasonably expedient, and the staff were making the rounds to ensure people had what they needed. They were more on top of the flow of traffic than other bars nearby. Jack Doyle's wasn't an intended stop, but it was a solid one as we made our way down to Penn Station to catch the Oasis show that night. read more

We were in NYC for the Thanksgiving Parade with family including a 9 month old and 3 year old. It was after 6 when my daughter finished work for the parade and we set out to look for a diner. Being Thanksgiving, most places were packed so we decided to duck into Jack Doyles. It was perfect for the kids, a nice loud Irish place with a menu that had something for all of us. Jack Doyle's has become a go-to spot for drinks & food before a concert at MSG. We stopped in last night before the Lady Gaga tour, and prior to that before Dua Lipa and both visits we had a great time. Their bartenders are super friendly - asking if we were going to the show, and taking song requests to stream in the bar - they usually play the artist that's performing that night. We didn't have any issue getting seats at the bar both times. They have a pretty decent selection of bar food. My spicy avocado chicken wrap last night was really good. My husband liked his sandwiches both times and their waffle fries are worth the upgrade fee. Food comes out quickly. Both times the bartenders treated us to a round of shots on our way out. MSG is a couple blocks down the road so it's a convenient stop either before or after a show. I would definitely recommend making this your pre-concert venue. read more

Irish pubs are generally not my favorite place to go for dinner but while in a rush to catch a show at Madison Square Garden, I stumbled upon this bar. It was actually quite decent! We got seated right away and ordered drinks, salads, and other food items. Quinoa salad with tuna was delicious and provided enough of a serving size to help make me feel full. The tuna was covered in sesame seed and medium well. The nachos tasted average, but still had a mountain of toppings to taste generally well. The interior decor is quite festive and reflective of the upcoming holidays. Staff were friendly and we managed to wrap everything up within just 20 to 30 minutes. If you're looking for a quick and easy place to eat with good quality food, I would suggest this place. read more

Restaurant was bustling with holiday cheer! We (2 of us) arrived without a reservation but the hostess was able to find us a table upstairs despite the Knicks pre-gamers and a group holiday party. Burgers were tasty, service was attentive and friendly. Fun place to go before we went to a show. Excellent all around and the lights and holiday decor were perfect for a December dinner. On a random weekday afternoon, vibes chill and this pub is, oddly, extremely nice inside. The bathrooms? Top tier. I ordered the meatball sandwich, which came with cheese and pesto. I am a sucker for a good sandwich with pesto inside, and this was no different. I was honestly so shocked by how well constructed this sandwich was. Like, the bread was just crunchy enough to keep its shape with the meatballs inside but still soft enough that it didn't scratch the top of your mouth or anything while eating it. The only thing is that it was a bit dry, even with the pesto. I still gobbled this entire thing up, though. My friends and I came to yap, and I also appreciated that they let it happen (though the fact that they weren't that busy probably helped). Food was surprisingly good, and the menu touches on a lot of different dishes. There's definitely something for everyone. I'd come back! read more

My daughter wanted (for a starter) buffalo cauliflower bites but was disappointed to find out they took them off the menu a few weeks prior. Mexican chopped salad was tasty I had the fish and chips which was served in 3 pieces instead of a whole fish looking more like large fish sticks. Me and my bestie were pleasantly surprised at this MSG adjacent pub. After a long morning of brunching and cocktailing, we were once again hungry by 2pm. Mind your business. Cities will always be it for me but sometimes the sheer amount of food options available are overwhelming. We decided to just walk and see what we found. When that failed miserably - one place we stopped in was serving brunch til 4 (absurd btw) - we took a break and browsed through Yelp. My friend was taking the train back home so we decided to stay close to Penn Station. We picked this spot and hoped for the best. It was great - warm and festive inside and not overly crowded. Surprisingly, the prices were normal! We ordered a grilled chicken avocado wrap and a burger, both served with fries. Very tasty! With. Diet Coke and a beer the price came in around $51. Not too shabby. Fat things: This place loves high tables and wood stools. I requested a low table (feet belong on the ground - at least mine do because they fall asleep otherwise). The hostess said the only low table was by the door and it gets cold with traffic coming in and out but we were comfortable. YMMV. I would come here again on days where the sports fans are few and far between. My rowdy days are behind me. read more

This is your average midtown Irish pub. It looks well maintained, is very spacious with a lot of seating and is a quiet and relaxed type of place. It is located on a quieter street between avenues. If they were located on 7th or 8th avenue, I feel like they would have twice as much as business. The drinks are all fairly priced too. They have beers on draft or in bottles for $6 to $8, and cocktails around $14. My friends and I came here to enjoy some drinks and watch some sports. read more

Definitely Irish Pub vibe and very crowded on a Wed at 6:30. On a positive note it was close to our hotel. Less impressed with the food we had. Fish and chips were really frozen fish sticks and the pan seared salmon (also frozen/processed) was overcooked and tasteless. Argued with him for a while, then he called backup from some other servers and they said there are like 100 rules but they couldn't fit them all on the promo sheet. Went here to watch the Minnesota Vikings, solid food and a fun atmosphere to watch the game. The soup of the day ($8.95) was lobster bisque and it was the best item we got, came with sole bread as well. We also got the buffalo wings ($12) for the Vikings special with medium buffalo sauce on the side. They were crispy and flavorful. My wife and I arrived at 5:45pm hoping to grab a quick bite before a 7pm concert at MSG. The first floor was crowded, so we were seated upstairs--only the second couple in the room at the time. It filled up quickly. Our waitress took our drink order right away, and then disappeared for over 30 minutes. Tables around us were being helped by a different waitress, who took their orders and had food out in under 20 minutes, while we just sat waiting. We finally flagged our waitress down around 6:20pm to place our order. After that, we watched her take orders from three other tables--whose food all arrived before ours. By 6:45pm, we had no choice but to leave to make the concert. We paid $20 for the two beers and walked out. The waitress apologized, but the situation was unacceptable. I don't blame the servers--they were sympathetic and overwhelmed. I blame the lack of organization and staffing for the upstairs section. If you're looking for a quick bite before an event, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The Christmas Decor set the scene and your girls are just amazing as were the gentlemen who helped with the set up and clean up. We loved that beautifully, comfortable space they set for us- all low top tables and quickly responding to any of our requests. It made for a warm, homey, atmosphere; it was like one, big, happy family, your staff included. The food was wonderful and you created a lovely colorful menu that was customized just to us. Came here for an Arsenal game with some friends and had a blast! The place itself was packed but not too packed (if you get what I'm saying?). We ended up taking a spot all the way in the back by the bar. There were plenty of TV's at all angles to catch a view of the game! The Christmas decorations were still up which made it a really cute ambiance! The service was attentive! We all got our drinks in a timely manner & the fan club was cheerful & brought great energy! Had such a lovely meal and experience at Jack Doyle's Monday early evening before a show in Forest hills. Sat at the great people watching two top in front, then had a third surprisingly join us and all the staff were so accommodating and gracious. It was a perfectly relaxing and enjoyable time. Never felt rushed, even as our third showed up while we were finishing our meals- the servers didn't blink an eye and brought a menu and my partner and I enjoyed coffee ( and tiramisu) while another meal came out. Non dairy options are limited and that is an area where there can be improvement. The food- teriyaki scallop special- perfectly cooked and delicious! Generous portion of sea scallops. Pretzel- awesome- more cheese dip is needed. Bangers and mash- think my partner was a bit eh on it- I never would've ordered that though so it's his own fault lol. Chicken avocado wrap- really great, large, half is a meal. Thai wings- the late add on- huge wings, tender juicy meat, a hit just this is where a non dairy dipping sauce could've made it even a bigger hit. Absolutely recommend and will be back. read more

Enjoyed this venue in years gone by however today was a massive fail. Because it was SantaCon, there was a very long line to enter this event venue. However, I could see it was not crowded inside. Because I am a visibly disabled senior citizen and standing for long periods poses a problem, I politely inquired whether it might be possible to skip the line. The short, thin, aqua-blue-eyed doorman stated with much attitude that I'd have to go to the end of the line because letting me skip it "wouldn't be fair." No chair was offered per ADA policy re reasonable modifications. No acknowledgement of the issue. What a buzzkill. Decided not to ask what the manager would say; we simply left. Very disappointed in Jack Doyle's reception today. What a shame. read more

We tried a few and they all had that rotten taste, drinkable but when you pay $10 dollars for a pint I expect it to be fresh. 6 people at 4pm Saturday before the SJU basketball game. We had 3 different servers but the service was great. Everyone enjoyed their food. Lamb sliders appetizer was a standout. Wings, mac and cheese, potato skins all good. Double burger was good. Chicken wraps and chicken parm all enjoyed. I had the irish breakfast. The Eggs were light fluffy and very tasty. Sausage ham and black and white pudding good. Fries good. Sweet potato fries really good. A couple of small negatives: they did not comp the birthday desert and the irish coffee was not good. I used to come here a few years ago and it was genuine. Tonight I got old coffee and squirt can whip cream. I was expecting fresh coffee and real cream like old days. I would not come back again because of the Irish coffee that is crucial for me when frequenting an Irish bar. If you want to be an Irish bar then you have to put up a real irish coffee - just saying. And dead rabbit is also on the no fly list. They claim to have the best irish coffee but it's trash. They won't serve it without sugar. Frances Tavern and Donovans in Woodside makes great irish coffee. read more

Service was great. We went after a basketball and it filled up quickly. We had made reservations because we had our transportation booked. Place was fine, easy to find and very friendly. Good variety of options from handhelds to dinners. Good choice of appetizers. I wish the food lived up to the rest. We both had a corned beef Reuben sandwich which came with fries. Fries were really hot and crispy and well seasoned. The corned beef was the worse we've ever had. It was thickly cut and very tough. It was hard to bite into the sandwich because of the gummy texture and the veins that ran through it. The rye bread didn't stand up to the condiments and the sandwich got mushy. Not good, not edible. Too bad because it seemed like a great place and close to MSG. read more

Great location to meet around Penn Station; although it was a super noisy venue. Got together with friends to catch up and requested a seat upstairs where it was hoped to be less noisy. Wasn't too much of a difference. Luckily people eventually emptied out a bit to see an ice hockey game at the garden. (Perhaps it was noisier than usual, as a "game night" for that particular night?) Food was good - fresh bar food choices. Cost-wise wasn't too pricey- Wait staff let us hang as long as we wanted. However, would want to pick a more quiet place next time for a "catching up get together" with old friends. read more
