Ok, let's be clear, this review is to express how absolutely backwards the process is to get an appointment for a visa (Note, the only reason I now know, is because I was helping some friends plan a trip) and they needed a visa. I figured, hey - I'm a Spanish speaker, I can help you... (1) If you call the number (ending in 0009) their system is as useful as an app with no subscribers (2) when and if you get through they'll tell you about doing whatever it is you need to do, "online" (I'll get back to that one in a few) (3) this is basically the path f least resistance, why? Because you can just have people trying to do things come to you... ZERO customer service!!!!!!! ZERO!!!!! (4) when you tell them you've been online, and can't get what you need (get this) to log on after a certain period of time, why? Because that's when the appointments "open up"... (5) follow #4 and that'll lead you right back to square one!!!!! If you are not from the US - be prepared to deal with a system that they can't even define for you!!!! It's like a magic box that's been passed down and no one really knows what's inside.... But the boxes attendants will still tell you to take a number: - regardless if they don't know what's in the box - the fact there are NO more numbers to grab - you name it, the answer (it seems) on a sheet of paper will be read off to you - with little care for anything (since those looking for answers are powerless to make a change) Wow, thank GOD I do not need to deal with this for my own reasons.. The employee here have an asshole license you spend all day on the phone just to get a appointment. You ask them what to bring and once you get there the list of items to bring change with out notice. Then they want copies and they didn't say anything about copies. Extremely professional and helpful! Went in and was kindly greeted, the ladies giving the passports were so nice and the young man charging the $ fees was very fast and efficient. This is probably the best location, I have been to. (If you complain about this location, let me just tell you that if you go to Mexico it's so CHAOTIC and they will take hours or weeks to give you any document needed) Renewed my passport and only needed my expired passport with me. This is the most hypocrite place for us as Mexican Citizens. As of July 1, 2021 pandemic is still around I understand, but they pretend they care by telling people that come get their Documents in order to wear a mask when their own employees be wearing mask improperly. I hope I am communicating to the correct place but it seems to me a lack of respect for our elderly people, my mother showed up to renew her passport and she showed up with barely enough money for that, but what happens is that they ask for a new birth certificate when She already had perfect conditions, and only to make her spend it, since when she gave it to her, the lady who attended her tells her that she no longer needs it. I would like to know the name of this person since my mother complains that I disrespect her and was very rude and pushy with her, and only yelled at her for putting her fingerprints and her eyes on the device, and for being distracted with her phone, ears and also gossiping with the boy because he didn't pay attention to her and just ignored her. Quite apart from this, my mother applied for a passport for 10 years, she even paid for it, she showed me her receipt where she has a charge of $90.50 but when checking her passport it is only valid for 6 years. I demand to know where this extra money is, is it from the ATMs? It is unfair that they take advantage of people who cannot read or write, much less know numbers, with how much money they will not stay in this place. They shouldn't pay them more if it's not enough, they should make sure they do their job and be courteous or hire personnel who are trained to improve their work. It's in general a horrible experience! What's the point of making an appointment if they don't follow the protocol and have you making a line outside in the sun! There is not even a way to wait inside? Or even when you question them about it they get all in their high horse and pretend that you are the one being disrespectful to them. Than they refused to even help me process the document that I came here for! I guess in order for them to do their job, you should humiliate yourself and bit your tongue and just look at their feet never at their face. I have made two visits to the Mexican Consulate in Austin. On both occasions the staff were very helpful. Getting an appointment is difficult as they are understaffed and overwhelmed with requests. It must be done online using a link that takes you, apparently, to Mexico City. The receptionist at the consulate explained exactly how to do this and, most importantly, when to do it. He and the security person at the door were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It's a pity they don't have more staff to handle the load. read more

I try my best to understand workers but honestly my experience here was not so well. First off, the system is very unorganized. And you get called out by them not a speaker like the DPS. Second, I always give everyone a smile because I know they stress enough (the job is difficult itself) but I encountered two ladies and they were straight up rude. In particular there was one lady who was colorist, she was working in section 10. She treated everyone very rude. In fact, once I greeted her she asked what did I want and rolled her eyes once I replied. In addition, she is colorist.. i was witnessing her being extremely rude to everyone who was brown skinned but once a family with lighter skin passed she changed her whole personality. Throughout my time there, many people were upset and misinformed, they got no help. It's upsetting we get treated badly by our own people. read more

I set up an appointment for my husband at 12 noon and he wasn't called in till 1pm and the guard at the entrance didn't let me in because according to him they were only letting people with appointments in, but I stayed outside and watch him let others in (I was paying close attention to what the others were saying to be let in) I finally approached him and addressed to him that I saw him let others in and so he let me in. Then when I was i side my husband told me that they are very unorganized because at some point the lady behind the window calls out " who ever hasn't been helped make a line in front of this window" they don't call them in the order these folks make their appointment And I over heard some people say that they had been waiting for 3 hours with an appointment. ** The Healthy Review ** Ok, first of all, it's a consulate, not a restaurant or bar, so keep that in mind. I was going to give it 4 stars based on my experience with other consulates, but my last experience really put them over the top. If you want to get to the healthy part, scroll down to the next ** near the end. I've been to this consulate many times over the years, since before they moved to this building. Yes, the security guards are a bit overzealous in not letting people into the general seating area, but that keeps the area generally without screaming kids, so I'd say that's a job well done. Every person I have talked to has solved my needs. From passports, to letters, to questions about social security and everything in between. Have they been expedient? A LOT faster than the American government, that's for sure. Also, processing times have gone down dramatically so I know they're trying. Have they been nice? Not every time, but most times. I have a secret though. No, I'm not the son of a politician or a billionaire or anything of the sort. I just treat everyone I meet here with respect, ask nicely and understand that if I had to see a metric ton of people every day I'd also have little patience. However, most of the complaints on Yelp as probably from people doing something at the window, like a passport or ID. If you need something from any of the offices, ** so how do I go to the consulate and stay healthy? First. Wake up early, go out for a walk, run or a workout so you're awake and in good spirits Second. Eat a good breakfast. You don't want to be hungry. I think the worst part of the consulate is calling Mexitel to schedule an appointment. So that part deserves 1 star. My overall experience in becoming a Dual Citizen (USA born and now Mexican) went excellent. It was free, and took less than a month. The gentlman who worked at window 10 was super cool (he speaks English very well), and the ladies are also very nice. For my next appointment, I got my Mexican Passport in an hour the same day I took my photo. Just come with patience and a positive attitude and you'll be fine. read more

Worst experience ever! Needing original and copies?? Seriously just make a copy yourself with the originals, and not accepting cash I understand, but not being able to bring money order or using a credit card without my name being on there is just ridiculous. I was just trying to get a vehicle permit for a vehicle that I own in my mothers name and trying to use my bank card with my name on it was not permitted. How crazy is that!? After reading all the horrible reviews I was nervous about going here. Maybe it's just the luck of the draw, but my experience was good. Everyone I dealt with, including the security guard at the front entrance who was kind enough to direct us to where we were going, was very helpful and polite. We met with Enrique in Civil Registry and he let us know the steps we need to take and what to bring back to meet with him again. He was a little hard to read- sometimes I couldn't tell when he was joking and when he was serious. But again, I think that was mainly because I was nervous and unsure what to expect going in. I think I was expecting it to all be strictly business and very serious. But they are people too and do have a sense of humor. He seemed like a good guy to me. These people have the absolute worst customer service I've ever encountered. They act like you're wasting their time, and act like they don't even want to be there. If you don't want to work there, DONT WORK THERE. I would rate zero stars if it were possible. We were there all morning because we're US citizens we have to feel out paper work on our home computer and take it with us , the problem is when u go withall ur original and copy of document the ask for the system is down and ur there all day to see if it comes back to get a permit for ur vehile to travel further in to the border & they only check it every hr. It was better when we went without this document from our home computer . Never had to make an appt. y'all need to stay open a least one more hour or two for us to get a vehicle permit thank you and yes the people that work there are very rude .
