Great place to stay while in Austin, especially if you want to be close to downtown and south congress. Walkable sort of if not in the heat ! And driveable ! Parking is pricey per night, valet just about $6 more. Or no car and rent a scooter or ride shares. Gym and lobby was nice with water, snacks, & fruit. We checked in early and had our room available. Pool area was nice and they handed out free ice cream sandwiches. The whole set up looks very cool and aesthetically pleasing. We got prosecco upon our arrival. The bad: this is a popular business place to stay. What that does is drive up prices to stupid levels, because having Chet charge $40 for breakfast goes to his stipend/business expense but means a lot in a City with much better options. So that makes the shop, breakfast and onsite restaurant a poor choice unless you can't be made to leave the place. The pool area is fairly nice with great service. However, it is absurdly deep for a hangout spot. It's 4 feet at the edge and 5-6 feet in the majority of it. What this equates to is all the adults and kids hanging right near the entrances cause no one can stand or tread water the whole time they relax. This feels like a big misstep in the design and renovation of this place. Parking is bad right now. The construction around keeps you from easily driving in and out and valet and parking are absurdly priced. Hyatt should do better to give benefits to reward members in these areas. The good: the service was good. Service went above and beyond and charged on rooms were accurate. The rooms are nice and clean with good free amenities like mouthwash and toothbrushes in the room. Elevators are fast and fun. Bring your keycard or use it on your phone cause it's needed everywhere. What a beautiful hotel. Elevators were quick fun and gorgeous! Every Hyatt Regency we've stayed at has family /kid friendly activity or gift. Maybe because this was in downtown, they didn't have any specific events or activities or anything particular that was kid friendly. For example : s'mores kit, fish feeding, craft activity, or even toys (we've been to some hyatts that gave out toys and activity books for children) so that was something different The stay was pleasant. They were quite busy with a lot of events (prom and business conferences) which made the rooms and floors really loud all day with people. You can hear from your hotel rooms the noises from the lobby. It's all attached together in on building. I also found one water dispenser on the 2nd floor near the conference room. So it was slightly awkward to refill my water bottle in the midst of a conference where everyone else had badges and nametags on. In front of the elevator in the main lobby had water and tea for people to drink with provided cups which was nice. But not to refill large water bottles. The pool next to the river is nice and pleasant. It's also near the entrance of the gym and for people to walk along the riverside. So it's quite open for everyone to see when you're swimming. Slightly odd to be swimming and sun tanning right next to the entrance walkway of people wanting to see the river. Because of the conference, that walkway was flooded with people dressed nicely wanting to take a short walk or just to see the riverside, standing next to the swimming pool area - just wasn't quite the swimming experience I expected. The hotel is really cute, very clean and modern, the lobby is spacious and there's a little cafe which is super convenient. The rooms are very nice, and the beds are super comfy. If you need anything from the front desk or have any questions, you can call the front desk like most hotels OR you can also txt them! I thought this was so cool, I did use the Txt option and they answer promptly, super efficient, loved that! There's plenty of plugs and plenty of lights too and that's a plus for me. The rooms come with a coffee machine and a small fridge, I had a bathtub and some amenities as well (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, cotton swabs). Theres a nice wide desk and modern TV with Netflix installed. I really like this hotel, it's comfy and clean which is my priority but the customer service is deff what did it for me. read more

Tonight, we attended a community service banquet at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Austin. The Hyatt overlooks Lady Bird Lake (previously called Town Lake), a popular lake for kayaking. It is also very popular to hike, run or bike around Lady Bird Lake. The Hyatt is also a perfect location to watch 500K to 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats depending on the time of year fly from underneath the Congress avenue bridge. The Hyatt is ideally located with South Congress (popular for shopping and some bars), and Rainey Street dining and nightlife nearby. It appears every time we visit the Hyatt hotel, they have just undergone a major renovation. Tonight was no different. The hotel is virtually unrecognizable except for the layout of the building. The hotel recently had a multi-million-dollar facelift including refreshing rooms, public spaces, and dining areas. The banquet was to recognize community leaders, corporate partners and groups that benefit the local Austin community. The event began with passed appetizers of coconut shrimp skewers, shrimp cocktail and hush puppies. Dinner included a garden salad, baked chicken breast and leg, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Dessert included two choices: 1) chocolate cupcake or 2) dessert with cake and whipped cream. In addition, as part of the entertainment several songs were sung by a local vocalist. Please note parking can be a bit pricey. The banquet was targeted to last 3 hours, which would have cost $44 + tax. However, by mentioning the banquet we got discounted park of $10 with paying cash or $14 with a card. I asked if they took Cashapp as I rarely carry cash. They did have cashapp and it counted as cash..we saved $4. The evening was lovely. I enjoyed the fellowship, food and fun. read more

We were driving her other main sidekick (fur baby) across country to his new home in Az and had a planned reservation at the downtown Hyatt, Austin. Locating the entrance is a little tricky but trust your GPS to guide you to the hidden entryway that goes into their completely enclosed/walled courtyard. She surprised me with THE Presidential Suite - a luxury I would never ever treat myself to. It was bigger than any place I'd ever lived at for all of college (and even also bigger than my first home)! Staff was terrific and super welcoming, not just of us but our canine companion too, even coming around the counter to pet him, give him a treat, etc. This Hyatt accepts dogs up to 50 lbs (we barely made the cut) and has a flat fee of $150 extra, per stay (not per night). Alas, we only stayed the one night as we had another 500 miles to knock out the next day. Parking can be on your own but is impossible to find. Valeted overnight parking is $65/night. There's a separate/additional fee if parking during the day too. The balcony of our suite was amazing with panoramic views over the river and city. This Hyatt sits right on the river and barely 20 steps out the back door (around their huge back patio) you are on the riverwalk. We took up a nice 5k morning jog along the path before gathering our things to checkout and head to a nice little brunch spot nearby. read more

"This hotel caused so much unnecessary stress on my rehearsal dinner night (April 2026). We lost my dad four months before my wedding. The hotel had offered my mom a complimentary suite upgrade because we booked a wedding block with them, and we planned to use it as the bridal suite. My mom arrived Thursday but stayed with my aunt that night in another room at the hotel so she didn't check in until Friday evening. When she did, she learned the hotel had given away her upgraded suite to another guest in our wedding party because he had Hyatt status and qualified for an available upgrade. They accepted our offer to call the guest ourselves to ask him to switch until I realized how ridiculous it was that they even entertained that. How awkward!! I told them they needed to handle this because it was their mistake My mom spent over an hour at the front desk trying to resolve the situation. The hotel manager was rude, showed no empathy, and only apologized after I pointed out that he hadn't. The sales manager who arranged the upgrade was just as dismissive. When I asked why there wasn't a system to flag an unclaimed bridal suite, she said they were a large hotel with multiple weddings and couldn't keep track of things like that. It made us feel insignificant. In many hotels, wedding block suites are flagged in the system as do-not-move or require sales approval before being released, especially on event weekends. That was not the case here, and it created entirely avoidable stress the night of our rehearsal dinner. My mom ended up with less than an hour to get ready for my rehearsal dinner because of the delay. They eventually found us another suite, but the damage was done. The only follow-up I received afterward was a TEXT message from a sales associate. The hotel is conveniently located and the room itself was fine, but none of the stress was worth it. The Pros: The hotel itself is fairly nice with modern ammenities. My room was kind of an odd shape with sloping walls, but the bed was comfy. The Cons; The hotel is loud! My biggest issue is that there were people at the bar past 11pm. Because the center or middle of the hotel is open, this allows noises to travel up. Also, the walls were kind of thin, I could hear my neighbor's toilet flush in the middle of the night. read more

We had such an amazing time at the Hyatt Regency Austin as a staycation celebrating our 9 year anniversary and also the 4th of July all in one! My husband booked a corner king river view and we were able to check in early and get our room come 11am! Parking is a little pricy at $52-60 a night self parking to valet but it is what it is for secure parking downtown so we paid it, and we were able to come and go as we pleased. We loved the proximity to everything now that were parents in the burbs these days as this was an amazing fun family friendly place to experience and explore with 4th of July amenities and weekend celebrations in tow! Free beach balls, fans and USA swag, and infinite bomb pop popsicles and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. My toddler absolutely indulged on our behalf and inhaled our moneys worth for this 2 night stay. Also - walking to Jo's coffee, homeslice, stopping by the rivian store and the Yeti flagship store, we even walked the trail to head to Whole Foods flagship, and book people, there are a ton of places within walking distance in this busy city. Watching the bats or just people watching from the 14th floor of our room was the best, and we appreciate the absolute best stay we had in making this experience so positive and memorable! The alone will bring me back and this will have to be my new go to hotel - I kept the curtains open as long as possible just enjoying that view! Right on Town Lake. The location is perfect and it is awesome to be able to go right out the back door and walk around the lake. The views are also great. I don't love hotel valet parking and it is pricey but the system was pretty decent and it really is just what happens at an urban city hotel. The location is the big win being just off Congress on the south side of the lake. The hotel is right between all of the grow and store/restaurants on South Congress and downtown and the capital and 6th street on the north side of the lake. I guess it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish but if you want to visit and see Austin, this is a good option of a place to stay. read more

We spent five nights at the Hyatt Regency during that arctic winter storm that passed through Austin (and most of the country). The hotel is as expected for a Hyatt Regency...I've stayed at others. No surprises. We arrived late after 11pm and were greeted by two nice young gentleman. They quickly checked us in. We were offered some water bottles which we appreciated with the late hour. We were in room 301. It's a nice corner room with a large patio that overlooks the River with the city scape in the background. I have no complaints about the room. It's spacious. There's an out of place piece of furniture that has three drawers for clothes with a lamp on it. It was on my husband's side of the bed near his feet. It was just oddly placed. My son was in room 305. He said they had one in their room inside the closet which seems like a better place for it. The bathroom is a nice size. The downside is the bath tub-shower combo. I hate showering with a shower curtain and forget to request a room that had only a shower. There are shampoo, conditioner and host wash fixed to the wall in the shower. Housekeeping was well done. There was a washcloth forgotten a day or two but no big deal. Breakfast is served on floor two. We went to the buffet breakfast every morning. We had the pleasure of meeting Tamara 3 out of the 5 days. What a fantastic employee you have in her. She's friendly and always anticipating our needs. My husband and I requested a small bowl of blueberries for our 17 year old granddaughter one morning. She made sure she had some the next two mornings without having to ask. She offered up great places to take a child her age and suggested some restaurants. She's terrific! Breakfast was great. They make fresh omelets on Friday through Sunday. You can also order fresh eggs, pancakes or waffles in addition to the buffet. We ate lunch on the first floor. It was ok. It didn't knock my socks off. We had the brisket sliders and the chicken fingers kids meal. Because the weather was so cold we stayed inside which is a shame. We could see the beautiful patio where you could eat. We walked all over with our granddaughter and also rode the glass elevators many times. She had a ball being able to see out the glass elevator all the way to the 17th floor. The area around the pool is being worked on. It'll be nice once completed. Parking is either self or valet. We chose the self parking. You can best access from the 2nd floor on an elevator that will take you straight to the parking lot avoiding the weather. My son was surprised to see that we had hotel slippers on as his room didn't have any. He told me they had robes though. I mentioned it as we checked out. The young man indicated that the rooms do not usually have either unless requested. So I'm not sure what the deal is but it's available if you ask. There is a small shop on the 1st floor with coffee and some breakfast and lunch items and some refrigerated choices. You'll also find flavored water in the lobby as well as water bottle filling stations on the 1st and 2nd floors. I also saw sweet tea on the first floor by the front desk. When my son checked in a few days after us he was offered a glass of beer. We missed that when we checked in. I also noticed some chocolate chip cookies behind the desk. I got a couple when my son checked in. There were a few inconsistencies during our stay I would not have noticed if my son had not been traveling with us and checking in at a later time. All in all, it was a very nice stay and I would definitely return. I'd love to experience the hotel while the weather is nice and we can enjoy the beautiful patio and time around the lake. read more

The hotel rooms are very spacious, up to date everything. My room had a refrigerator and coffee maker. I counted 14 floors while I'm here. Lots of water activities on the river, if you exit back of the hotel. The Hyatt itself sits alongside the Lady Bird River, so it's easily accessible to the sightseeing cruises and paddle boarding, etc. Things to do. Heads up, if u valet ur car with the hotel, it's $57 + tax "per night" to park ur car. Parking is horrible and next to non-existent in this area. It's 3am. I am wide awake because of noise. The rooms are incredibly noisy. I can usually sleep through most noises. The sound proofing is beyond terrible. I am in room 1214. With a door that connects with 1216. I can hear every word very clearly from the guests in room 1216 through the adjoining room doors. I can hear when they drop their non soft close toilet seat. I can hear their sexual moaning, snoring, coughing, sneezing. They can hear me as well even when I was whispering. I know this because I heard them comment about me commenting about them. In Conclusion: Terrible sound insulation. The shower head is low. No soft close toilet seat. . I likely will not be coming back to this hotel. read more

The company I work for held a retreat for a few days at this hotel. I believe they booked over 300 rooms. That said, this hotel is huge. They have at least 30 or so rooms per floor and at the very least 20 floors. I don't particularly remember. They have a bar and restaurant downstairs, as well as a Starbucks. Not to mention, too, that they have several board rooms to hold conferences in. They really thought of everything for work. They also have a parking garage attached, plenty of handicap accessibility, and even a sitting area outside to enjoy the Austin views. Of course they have amenities as well, including a large and luscious pool, which I know loud and clear some of my coworkers took advantage of. Honestly I loved my stay here. I definitely recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and I wouldn't mind if they chose this hotel again for the next retreat we have. read more

Pros Great view, room near microwave, ice machine and elevators, room service helpful with towels and extra requests, water station available in lobby. Beautiful gym with a view, not too far from downtown located on Lady bird lake! Cons Stayed on the 12th floor with a wonderful view but the tub seemed water warped, don't quote me; not a general contractor but it felt like stepping on a water bed. I mentioned it to my bff but she was so busy and didn't want to repack and move, no biggie but it is a safety issue. Sundries are crazy overpriced, customer service ok, could be soooo much better. On site restaurant price gouges, wouldn't recommend Maker 10 (Check out my review), nightly parking $50 a night Pet friendly $150 per stay charge In my personal opinion, if you plan to spend this much then I would suggest; The Line Hotel across the river. Why 5 stars? Because I really can't complain about any part of my stay. --- --- --- I was in Austin about a month earlier for work and stayed in a different hotel. This one was superior in just about every way. The reasons: 1) There was a parking garage, and it had plenty of space. Most of the time, I was able to park right outside the entrance to the hotel. And it was free. Last time I stayed in Austin, just on the other side of the river and parking was a jaw dropping $50/night. Not here. 2) The beds were super comfortable, including the pillows. This hotel does something all hotels should do but most do not: have different types of pillows for different types of sleepers. Some people like firm pillows, some like lighter ones. Both are on the bed here, which is great for me, as I like a firm one under my head and softer ones to cuddle like a body pillow. I slept very soundly both nights here because of this. 3) The thermostat actually works as promised. I made it cold at night and warmer once I woke up and it actually did those things! Sometimes I wonder if thermostats are just purely decoration because the room does not match the setting in many hotels. I also set the fan to remain on high, which is mostly did, but there were instances where it would just shut off instead of continually run. And the absence of white noise did wake me up a couple of times. 4) The showers were fine. Where they the best I've ever used? No, but they got the job done in terms of water temperature and pressure. The handle was coming out of the wall a bit when tugged on and there was a little rust in the drain, but these are minor issues. Probably the only thing I disliked was that the coffee shop here is a Starbucks. It's better than nothing, but a local coffee shop was about the only thing I would have changed if I could. The hotel is built like an Embassy Suites - the hallways are open to the center and you can see the entire hotel from anywhere. It's definitely a bit different but I enjoyed it overall. read more

What a lovely place! Room was very clean, bed so comfortable, pillows perfect! Everything was provided from coffee to an iron. Toiletries were nice. Lobby and bar area expansive and comfortable, with dilish, if pricey, food. I really appreciated that the hotel has access right onto the river walk trail, very near the Congress Avenue Bridge, and the bat event. The Colorado River and Lady Bird Lake boardwalk provided great, peaceful walks. Being downtown was convenient to many restaurants and sites. Pool area was sheltered from wind and comfortable, Shade and sun areas. Workout room as well. Staff helpful and cheerful, although I miss daily room care. But you can request it. It is one area where they can improve. I asked early morning and by 6 pm still no one came. Hubby asked again and they brought coffee but little else unless you were specific. Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Austin for two nights and had a blast. The hotel had assigned me a lake view room and ..well I really do enjoy that extra view of the water (and it also had a view of downtown as well). The room was a good size and had a bunch of USBs and plugs that I could utilize. The bathroom was decently sized, had a bunch of toiletries (thanks for utilizing the bottles) and a bunch of towels as well. And water pressure was also nice! Their refrigerator was also a little bit on the smaller side but manageable. The chairs here were just alright. Bed were big, 4 pillows per bed, very comfy. Didn't really hear much noise outside (YAY) so that's a big plus. The front desk does mention that the rear of the hotel connects to a walking trail but I was never able to utilize that. I was however able to utilize their gym and I was impressed that they had peloton bikes. (Water refilling station lies here as well if you need to get some water in this Texas heat). There is a parking structure that's a 2-3 minute walk away (and I think you have to pay for it too for self and valet parking) so ehhh about that. If you do make requests in the app for stuff, you won't get it til housekeeping comes the next day which is not really mentioned. If you are looking for a venue for a meeting or, especially, your wedding, this Hyatt locale will deliver the service and beautiful experience you deserve. We had our wedding reception in the Foothills Room in 1996. The food was amazing and the view of downtown and the capitol all lit up at night, and the grounds by the lake, made for incredible wedding photos. Our video crew even caught the bat flight for us from the windows! The staff made sure our dreams came true! We've spent many anniversaries here since, and I enjoy staying here and reliving our memories whenever I come home to Austin. The rooms are beautiful and you'll get the personalized treatment from check-in to check-out thst makes you feel pampered and special instead of just another drop-in sleepover with suitcases. This is my favorite hotel in the state, and my homecoming whenever I return to Austin. Highly recommend. read more

After numerous stays in Austin, I must say this is my new favorite hotel. Check-in was easy and the location is great. You're on Congress within walking distance to SoCo and just across the river from downtown. The location keeps you out of the craziness but close enough to get in it. While it's an older hotel, our room was modern and updated with a fantastic view of the river and downtown. The hotel bar is nice but relaxed and the bartenders are friendly. Breakfast while a little slow, was good and had plenty of options. This will be my go-to hotel for future visits to Austin. read more
