Clearly their products are top of the line, in the past when I got gel on my nails a week tops before it started to peel. This picture is of a three week old service. Actually headed to the shop now. It only peeled in one nail and that's cause I chipped my nail. That tells me the previous shops I went to must've watered down the product to stretch. I came in for a simple color change on my toes. As soon as I walked in, I greeted the woman sitting at a station. Instead of a greeting back, the first thing she said was, "Can you close the door because the air is on?" There was no "Hi, how are you?" or even a polite request. It immediately set the tone for the visit. When she finally asked how she could help me, I told her I was there for a color change. She looked around, sighed, and said, "We're not gonna have time for you today." I paused, expecting her to offer another appointment or suggest another time, but instead it just felt like, "We can't help you." I said, "No problem," and started walking out. An employee (who I believe was her assistant) ran after me and told me another customer had offered to let me go ahead since my service was something simple. I honestly hesitated because of the owner's attitude, but I wanted to give a black owned business the benefit of the doubt, so I came back. I thanked the customer who let me go ahead, but the owner never acknowledged me. Even something as simple as, "It's been really busy today, but we appreciate you and we'll be with you shortly," would have gone a long way. When it was finally my turn, I sat down and the owner asked, "You're just getting a color change, right?" I said yes, and she didn't say another word. It honestly felt like she still didn't want to service me but was doing so because I was already there. A little while later she yelled across to me, "Hey, blue shirt... what's your name?" After I told her, she said that from her angle it looked like I had my leg resting on the technician and that her client didn't want to turn around. It was awkward, but I laughed it off and once again tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, figuring maybe she was just someone who was a little rough around the edges. After my service was finished, I went to pay. The technician asked if it was my first time there. When I said yes, she then informed me there was a $10 fee because they had to remove someone else's polish. The "removal" was simply sanding off my previous color. My issue wasn't even the fee--it was that it wasn't disclosed before the service started. Any additional charges should be communicated upfront so customers can decide whether they'd like to proceed. So I ended up paying $30 for a simple color changed when I could've just waited and got a pedicure at that point. The final straw was leaving the salon without so much as a "Thank you," "Have a great day," or "We appreciate your business." The owner said absolutely nothing. While I was there, I also watched other customers come in asking for pedicures. They received the same short, dismissive responses and were simply turned away. As they walked out, the owner called after them, "Keep us in mind." Honestly, that's difficult to do when customers aren't greeted warmly, prices aren't fully explained beforehand, and there doesn't seem to be much effort to make people feel welcome. The salon itself is nice, but customer service matters just as much as the quality of the work. A little kindness, professionalism, and clear communication go a long way in building loyal customers. Unfortunately, because of how I was treated, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this salon based on my experience. Contenders or Pretenders? I was in the market for a new nail salon because my previous pedicure extraordinaire was retiring. I visited yelp... per usual... and found this place ( I dare not say the name again in fear of flashbacks) I'd given them a call to see if the accepted walk-ins and the woman I'd spoken with ,overall pleasant , asked me to come in at 2. She called me back a few minutes later and asked if I could come in at 4 instead. I told her that was fine and decided to grab some lunch... Now here comes the foolery ! I pull up to a Strip Mall type location were the parking would be considered risky. Not because of the neighborhood but because of pot holes, no clear parking lanes, and over width of parking lot . You could easily loose a bumper if your not careful. I walked in at exactly my appointment time and was admittedly greeted by name. I played " any, many ' miney, moe" with the seating based on the cleanliness and proceed to scope out the place. Did it need updates for sure but that wasn't a deterrent, I can't imagine how much it cost to replace something every time a client scrapes or nicks something . My concern was dust and dirt and the missing nail license( yes I look for those) the shop didn't quite meet my standards and I wasn't sure if it was because there is a lot of black and white in the salon or if they just didn't make cleaning a priority. After about 5 minutes of scanning the room , buzzing from the nail drill I look at my watch. Nothing... no one coming from the back, no plastic being added to the pedicure bowl or water being ran. 4:10 comes and the phone rings" I hear " ok, ok, how long?" And the phone hangs up. The nail tech turns to me and bodily says " your nail tech is in traffic, she said she'll be here in 30 minutes, ok? ." Some many things ran through my head in that moment... but all I could was say " that's not ok" walked out. What a big waste of my time and the boldness the request more time. So if you can look past the potential of car damages, cleanliness issues, and if you have unlimited time, this salon might contend for your business. As for me and my toes , no thanks ! I really liked the care the nail tech took when fixing my broken nail. She really took her time and was receptive to my concerns. I had broken the nail while I was lifting a pallet of water and not only had it lifted but also torn the nail it had been attached to. I appreciate that they tried to color match, but the only shiny they had was a gold glitter and the paint that they did after removing the gel-x nail was really messy and I had to ask them to file some of the nail corners down. She recommended not to get an extension and let it heal and I strongly agreed that was the priority. They only take appointments but it seems like they have a nice small community vibe, greeting their regulars by name when they walked in. read more

The shop has a wonderful, intimate culture and Cristal is a calm, talented professional. However, my experience was very rushed and felt deceptive. The owner Monique was upfront at the beginning about them having a sponsored event that evening, but she didn't suggest I come the following day to prevent me from being rushed. I felt deceived because I was under the impression that Cristal was staying behind at the shop to service me, only to find out once I arrived that the owner really wanted Cristal at the event too. Monique tried to sell me into doing Gel-X, using a shaming technique about my nail health to present it as if she were trying to help me, when in fact it was clearly for her own benefit to hurry up and get me out of the shop. She even tried to claim it was "cheaper right now," but used the phrase "I think" regarding the price--which is deceptive and unprofessional for an owner to say about their own services. To make matters worse, she explicitly told me I should leave a very good Google review because they "accommodated" me. As a PAYING customer, I should not be made to feel like my service is a favor or an obligation for a 5-star review. The owner overstepped boundaries by asking to help size my nails, which I said was okay, but then she kept pushing until she was shaping and priming as well. She kept explaining that Cristal would still "do her own thing," and even alluded to the fact that Cristal's reputation was on the line because she knew she was overstepping by continuing to work on my hands as well. I want to point out that she did not mess up Cristal's reputation; Cristal did a good job at keeping her composure and making me feel comfortable and not rushed. In reality, the owner messed up her own business reputation. Because I already felt like an inconvenience, I didn't feel comfortable saying anything further. However, two people working on one set resulted in several nails being glued and shaped crookedly. I did notice one nail was crooked while I was there and Cristal was happy to try to file it away, but there were limits on how far she could file because it would touch my natural nail bed. As the days went on, I noticed several other nails were also crooked. It was awkward to sit through Monique repeatedly saying "don't kill me" to Cristal during the rush and even try to justify why she was helping saying to me "you wanted me to do your nails anyway" which again another sign of her being blatantly aware of what she's doing. Even receiving a voicemail later saying, "I hope you loved your nails, I'm sure you did," felt like another manipulation. I always look forward to supporting Black businesses and was hoping to find a nail shop to finally lock in with, but this experience let me down. First impressions say a lot. While Monique did call me the following day as she states " this is what I usually do with first time customers", I did not feel the need to address it any further and will just leave it where it is. I am disappointed and the search will go on, as I value professional, HONEST, & unhurried work over being misled. read more

I made a 12:30 appointment for Saturday. I called the location to let them know I was going to be 5-8 minutes late. I arrived exactly at 12:38 and was told to have a seat, Tameka would be with me as soon as she was done. I was a little surprised, I kind of assumed the technician would be waiting on me since I had to schedule an appointment. I was seated at exactly 1pm. They could have told me to take my time when I called, I was rushing for no reason at all. While I waited for my pedicure, I had time to look around. The place is pretty cute all decorated with black, white and silver. The pedicure location is raised up and requires taking 3 steps. They have regular sofa like chairs to sit in. Honestly the chairs were not very comfortable for me. I did ask Tameka if appointments usually run behind and she stated they are short staffed today. I suppose I will come back at least one more time to test out the wait. I love to support black owned businesses. I appreciate the online booking of services, I'd just like to see my appointment time honored. During my pedicure I found myself constantly swatting little gnats away. They would land on my leg and zip past my face. I suppose this was because the front door was open. This is the second place I have visited where the pedicures are done on completely dry feet. Interesting technique used here. Pretty decent pedicure, I felt the massage portion was pretty short ... maybe 3 minutes. I did add extra massage but from the shop talk it seemed like the ladies were ready to go home so I didn't push the issue. I did ask if I received the callus treatment since the package description includes it. Tameka said she decided to not do it because she was able to scrub my dead skin away. I was kind of surprised because the scrubbing was rather gentle and was brief. I was also not offered the complementary glass of wine. So basically there were a couple discrepancies from what I received and what I thought I would receive. I do prefer places with a massage chair and that give a certain amount of time for the massage (like 15 minutes). For the $60 price tag I thought the service would have been a bit longer. Service completed at exactly 1:50pm. My previous pedicure was so old, only 4 toes sort of had gel on them. I was still charged the full gel removal fee, not a big deal. The gel polish fee was another $10. I selected the top notch pedicure option, I guess I expected a bit more for an $80 nail service but I suppose prices are super expensive everywhere. Tameka was nice. We shared some moments of conversation. I'm glad she didn't force the conversation as I prefer to use my time as I wish. I usually space out or do something on my phone. I'd probably visit again in the future. 11/17- The owner, Monique, called me the day after my review went live. She was extremely rude in her tone. She basically reiterated her written response. At the time, I had not even seen her response. When I arrived to the nail parlor, Monique said, "Have a seat, Tameka will be with you when she's done." There was no interaction between us after that. The owner felt like I was badmouthing her business with my 4/5 star review. She even pulled the "black card" several times. The owner said I could have shared my concerns when I checked out. What the owner failed to see is that they did not provide a warm and inviting environment. I felt like they were all in a hurry to get to their Saturday plans. The owner also said they probably didn't offer me wine because they didn't want me to wait anymore so I can just go back, have my wine and leave. She also said they would offer a manicure service since I didn't like the pedicure. I don't know the purpose of the call. I was only able to say, "Hello, this is her" followed by "No thank you, have a nice day." Her tone was so foul and abrasive, I'm still upset about the call more than a day later. So no, I will never return to this location. I like to support black business but I mostly like to go places that have good customer service. read more

I came here with my Grandma, at her recommendation. This is her new "go-to" since her last place she felt snubbed her. I called to make an appointment but was told to come in 30 minutes and they'd be able to take care of the both of us. It's not a huge place but nicely decorated in a white and black motif. The ladies were lovely and very friendly! I believe the owner was the one helping me with my pedicure, she remembered my Grandma from a previous visit. Be aware, you will have to climb some stairs to get to the chair to sit for your pedicure. My Grandma was only getting a manicure this visit, so I didn't have to worry about her climbing up there. However, since my pedicure had already started, I couldn't help her to her chair for her manicure. She usually likes someone to hold onto as she walks to help her keep steady. I did say "she might need help to her chair", but maybe they didn't hear me. I was hoping someone would at least help her to her chair but alas... My pedicure was great, and I felt the price was on par. I was offered a drink, and was served in a wine glass..very fancy. It's been weeks and my toes still look great, I didn't even get gel! I was also asked if I enjoyed my service afterwards, never been asked that before. I certainly did though and she did a fantastic job. They also use Bath and Body works lotion (I think that was the brand) so I felt it was a much nicer smelling lotion that the usual unnamed stuff other places use. I was watching my Grandma's manicure and she seemed to keep asking the lady to file some ridges. When we got home she showed me her nails and some were pretty jagged still, so she just filed them herself. Not that big of a deal, the lady had super long nails so maybe it made it hard to file?
