This is one of those hidden gems for sure! From the outside you see a store front, nothing special, nothing different than most. But once you get in side you find yourself inside a store that has a plethora of items. Large meat section in the back which is shared with their best item, empanadas. They have a wide selection of flavors and their chimichurri is really to die for. You can buy single ones or get a whole doze, which is cheaper if you're buying 8 or so. I would highly recommend this place for your grocery needs but just know like most smaller convenience stores it won't have everything yet they have a lot more I see some others have. Omg i'm so sad! First off- this is mainly a review for their empanadas... which i used to love. Came by to grab some for a get together a week ago, and what in the world happened? The crust was not great and not consistent... they seem to be using random crusts? They were all just sort of small and sad. The worst was the pepperoni, which my son loves, tasted OLD. We tossed them. I see other recent reviewers like them. Maybe it was a mistake of someone keeping older ones; I just wouldn't risk it again. The market itself is a nice little market that I've picked up things here and there (i think yuca flour was the last thing i got), so I haven't been in awhile. I'm just pretty sad about the state of the empanadas. I would never get them there again... and that was the main draw for me. read more

We came here during a quick lunch run. The store sits in a little corner and it has written "Empanadas" all over it so you wont miss it. There is enough parking available too. This is a grocery store with lots of Latin foods. We came here for the empanadas but they also have sandwiches. I was unable to order a sandwich because the bread guy did not show up (one star down). We did get over a dozen of Empanadas. Half a star down because the empanadas look bigger in display than what we got. It ends up being more of a snack and one would not be enough. I do not eat that much but 4 were enough to satisfy me. My friends had to eat 6-8 to be full. Beef empanada: its pretty delicious. The beef is well seasoned and moist without being oily. Chicken empanada: it was moist and it had vegetables. Apple empanada: it is almost like a McDonalds pastry but better. Spicy beef: it is good but quite spicy. I was able to handle one and I do not eat spicy foods. However, I would not want to eat it again. Pepperoni empanada: better than a hot pocket. A good amount of pepperoni but it didn't have that much cheese. It is good to note that the empanadas are pre-prep but cooked to order. So they do not taste over cooked or stale. We waited about 10mins for the empanadas to be out of the oven. During that time, one can walk around and check the other Latin foods available. read more

The funny thing is, not sure why they always mess up on the orders. This Christmas, I ordered 2 different times and both times the flavors were wrong. Example, a box of 2 beef, 2 spicy beef, 2 chicken. They packed 2 beef, 2 spicy chicken and 2 spinach. Oy vy!! My favorite is the beef. They are so delicious and full of flavors. Of the three, my favorite was the SPICY BEEF!! The flavors were intoxicating, lots of veggies (onions, tomatoes, Chile verde) with ground beef, combined with spicy salsa and even though it was spicy I wish I would have gotten 2 more despite wanting a cold coke. The spicy chicken was good but the chicken breast was a bit chewy--possibly over cooked. Lastly, the pomo was amazing! Honestly, I would get two pomos and two spicy beefs next time. Still a neighborhood gem! This Argentinian market has South American and Central American specialty imported products and quality deli selections. My fave are the Argentinian empanadas! Soooo tasty! The beef empanadas were always popular at potlucks and get-togethers. I also brought spinach empanadas which were always well received at events. Always good to call ahead for empanada orders. The deli clerk and the cashiers have always been kind to me. Parking is usually easy peasy for me either in their small parking lot or street parking on Gramercy. I drive by this market at least 4 times a month and booked marked it over a year ago. So when I had the opportunity yesterday, I dip in and parked! I mean, I'ma keep it real that's obviously why I was there. :) So what I've learned, is Empanadas are traditionally made in different ways. So I decided to only order a 1/2 a dozen. I went with 3 Chicken and 3 Beef. What I liked about these Empanadas are the feeling. They kept the seasoning under control, it was tender and the meat flavor was awesome. I could taste fresh peppers and onions as well. The breading was ok because it reminded me of a smash biscuit base. I like more of a pie crust flaky and buttery. And everyone has different expectations when it comes to traditional food. I would definitely recommend this local neighborhood market for their Empanadas.
