For a Bankhead neighborhood fast food place that is not fancy in any way, I love the food. It's basic seafood, wings and other things, but it's consistently cooked to order and tastes great. My favorites are catfish, whiting, wings and shrimp. My favorite side is the always crispy fried okra. Others regularly order their favorite crab legs and seafood boils. Not much ambiance as it's meant as a 'hood takeout joint. Best advice: order ahead to avoid having to wait during peak evenings and weekends. read more

I stopped by Continental Seafood on Bankhead to finally try it out since it's a well-known spot on the Westside. First thing I want to mention is the customer service -- the cashier had a beautiful spirit. She greeted everyone who walked in, was very kind, and made the experience welcoming. That alone goes a long way. As for the food, I ordered the turkey necks with corn, potatoes, and broccoli. They were okay -- not bad, but not something I would rush back for. We also tried the fried shrimp and fries, and I could tell I came later in the evening because the fried food didn't taste as fresh. The grease seemed old, which affected the flavor. That said, I'm trying to be fair. I came toward the end of the night, so I don't want to judge the place completely off that visit. I plan to come back earlier in the day when they first open to see if the food quality is different, because fresh grease and fresh batches definitely matter. I'm from the Westside and I really want to support places in my area. This visit just wasn't my favorite, but I can see how others may enjoy it -- especially if they come at the right time. If I can give 0 I would! I weight at the store after getting my order and was short over more than half a pound and told the staff but they stated that they sell crawfish 10/9.99. So it's 10 for $9.99/lb. Not 1 pound for $9.99! I stated that instead of saying, 1lb for $9.99 why do you stated that our crawfish is 10 for $9.99 instead and to which they say, "now you wanna tell us how to run our business"?? The female staff came at me, cursing aggressive wanted to fight when this is a matter of a dispute!! Why would anyone get physical over a weight dispute??? This is not only bad, but the worst type of customer service you can ever have! PLEASE be careful as they do attack their customers if they feel they need to be right! Since I moved to the west side of Atlanta a friend told me of this spot and I had to give it a try for myself and it is pretty darn good. I love how you can buy the fish fresh or they can cook it for you right there within a few minutes it's ready and seasoned very well not too salty and always taste very fresh. I've always loved fried fish but I started trying out steamed fish and vegetable from this place and it's very good I don't even miss the fried fish. Recently I got the crab legs and it was really good I wasn't a fan of the sausage so I probably won't get that again but it was flavorful and tasty. The broccoli at this place is amazing. read more

I'm from Mississippi and I've been searching for a place that fries up catfish the way I truly enjoy it. I'm so glad to have found Continental Seafood. They are a seafood counter so they offer raw fish and seafood by the pound. If you pay an extra $1.50, they'll either steam or fry up your seafood for you. Omg it was sooooo freaking good. I got the 3 pc fish and one side deal for 8.99 and it was a generous portion. I opted for the steamed broccoli as my side and Im so happy they did. I also got an order of turkey necks because I've been craving them. I don't know how they season all of their food so well but the broccoli and necks were tender and delicious. The catfish was perfectly fried and my coworker said that he liked it better than the tilapia he got. It's a bit more pricy but the quality is worth it. I know where to get my fried fish kick. Oh! Take out is a joke. Multiple times over the years we have supported Continental. They aren't the cheapest but they are very flavorful. The rest of the stars are left out for the poor review of orders and poor response when brought to the attention of the establishment. Recently, my husband ordered me crab legs, shrimp, broccoli, Turkey neck and eggs. Usually very delicious when filled properly. My shrimp were missing that my husband paid for and I called to ask where the shrimp were. The guy who answered initially admitted they left out the shrimp and if I drove 15-20 mins back to the establishment they could give me the shrimp. I asked since I had to drive all the way back if he would refund and fill the order since it was their mistake and I am literally wasting gas because they "can't do refunds over the phone." He said no and put an older man on with a heavier accent. I describe the situation and he basically said he needed to "see." He told me he could not fix it over the phone. He argued with me and told me it was my "responsibility to check the food before leaving." I told him he should PRESENT the orders before tightly bagging and sealing if that was encouraged. I told him I would write this review. He hung up the phone. I drove at 9 months pregnant back to this establishment . Hopped out the car. Brought the items back. He asked if I had a receipt. I told him we just got off the phone. He magically found my ticket without a receipt. He was unsuccessful at refunding my husband's car 2x (which was sus). He finally gave cash. At the end I suppose he took pity and offered me drinks and shrimp. At that point I was DONE. I wish he had, had that same energy over the phone. read more

I drove 30 minutes for the driest tasteless most raggedy burnt up frog legs I've ever had in my life. The tiny little shrimp were okay, well seasoned but just not giving in terms of size, but I was outdone about the burnt up frog legs. Never again. The ONLY reason they have customers is because everyone in their at the time was using EBT. That's the gag, that's it because it's not good. I have to tell you I was really surprised about this place, primarily because of where it is located. I was recommended by a friend, because we were going to another restaurant close by, but found out once we got there that they only take cash...oh well, there loss. This place was right down the road, you have to be quick to turn in though; the road is always busy. When we walked in we got slapped with the smell of fish, but it is a seafood place in a very small location so I cannot say I was surprised. They only have one portable menu; it looked like they were more about selling bulk items that meals, but no worries there, whatever gets the bills paid. There was one table to eat at, total of about 8 chairs in the place, bars on the window including the bathroom, key to the bathroom....check and attached to a spoon, and the owners barely, if at all spoke english, but I do not fault them for that because they understood exactly what we wanted and were very friendly in taking our order and not rushing us even though people were coming in behind us as the three of us stood there picking our heads trying to figure out what we wanted. The food was really fresh, I forgot to take a picture of mine, but I got the sweet and sour wings and shrimp meal. For $17, 10 wings, 15 fried shrimp, onion rings, and a drink, your boy was good to go! They did not have any fish out at the time that I came, but I would like to come back and check it out. One of my friends have the shrimp and vegetables and the other one had a kind of boil with shrimp and sausage which she ate up so I think it was good! Shorter version: if you don't believe me that these people have terrible service and are racists just read the other reviews. Most of The good reviews are from over a year ago. Clearly something happened. Short version: you can get better seafood at Austell Seafood Market in Austell and South New Orleans Seafood on the East side. There are plenty of other spots you can hit around the Westside. Just don't come here. Don't expect them to answer when you call, don't expect good service and there's gonna be a line more than likely. Long version: G.H.E.T.T.O. I've tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but after the service I received (or lack of it) I've reached my breaking point. This place is decent. I've been coming here for over two years and it's by far not the best seafood spot but if you want something convenient on the Westside it'll work. These people are rude as hell and don't give AF if you have a complaint. I've dealt with the bad service, the crowds, them messing my order up and all that. But last night these a$$ clowns left me on hold for 45 mins. FORTY FIVE FREAKIN MINUTES! And I stayed on hold on purpose just to prove a point. I sat there and listened to them take other orders on the phone and when I reached my breaking point I hung up. After a few more calls back and the line being busy I was finally able to get through to someone and I went TF off. How dare you leave someone on the line like that. And they didn't give AF!! More value and consistently good crab, shrimp and seafood than any other place anywhere along 285 west corridor in Atlanta or Cobb County...from Cobb Parkway to Camp Creek. That includes Juicy Crab...yep, better quality and value than Juicy Crab. They clearly mark the price/lb. of each seafood item. You can actually pick out your crab legs, shrimp etc. They weigh it then cook it. Quickly(10-15min) and perfectly on all my visits. I've also bought a variety of fish there which I later cooked at home. Salmon, for example, was delicious. Let me explain what I mean by quality. Other places tend to overcook snow crab legs...to the point where the meat evaporates or is rubbery. This has never happened during my visits here. The only drawback(or maybe your preference) is they don't drown the meat in the spicy garlic fake butter sauce which is the trend nowadays. If they did, I suspect more folks would be aware of this hidden gem. The side of butter sauce and hot sauce they offer is enough for me. And pretty tasty as well. My one tip is to put together your own boil for your order, not the one they offer on the menu. Not a big fan of potatoes and broccoli in boils, and the shrimp is shell off and smaller than shell-on. Try their shell-on shrimp. It is great, and they'll cook that too. They offer boiled eggs, corn on the cob, sausage and potatoes all as separate, reasonably priced options you can add to your custom boil. read more

So one day I decided to make Seafood lasagna and I needed some salmon and lobster tail so I decided to stop here. You can buy your seafood items raw and they will cook it for you if you like for a small fee in which they have some of everything in the sea to frog legs. Anyhow, I decided to get the salmon and the lobster tail steamed to save me some time! However, it was smelling so good, I had to pinch it a lil bit! Why did I do that! I was pinching so much I almost didn't have enough for my recipe. It was so good and seasoned very well! The lobster tail was thick and juicy and all buttered up as well as the salmon. Prices are good and they have daily specials also. Of course shortly afterwards, a few days later, I tried them again and got the Special #1 which is the catfish, 15 shrimp, and fries (seasoned)! It was excellent and aren't stingy with the food or sauces! Lol it was dinner then lunch the next day! It's just as good as if not better than the chain seafood spots which I hardly eat. I used to love this place for seafood but after this last experience I don't know if to be coming back..Crab legs seemed a bit old... So when I found out that they were selling wings well I had to try them, however the wings were huge my 1st time getting them they were under cooked. So from now on everytime I go i ask them to fry the wings hard! I went two days ago and asked for wings fried hard the man has a debate with me about the cooking of the wings.....
