I bought a BMW from this auto auction in late December 2025 as a reward to myself after years of hard work. At first, I truly believed I had found the right car and something reliable that I could finally enjoy. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into frustration, stress, and financial strain. After the purchase, I took the car to get inspected for serious issues; not only just bad news but it began to surface the things that were never clearly disclosed. I've now been left paying out of pocket for problems that should have been addressed before the vehicle was ever sold. To make matters worse, I also purchased the warranty they promote and partner with only believing it would protect me. In the end of fighting the auto auction and warranty agency, my claim was denied for a major timing chain issue that I put more into fixing than I expected. Not just that but with electrical issue, tires, outdated engine parts and after seeing all these recalls car fax's I strongly urge potential buyers to do extensive research on this place, get independent inspections, and think carefully before trusting vehicles sold through this lot. I had a wonderful experience buying a used car at Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction! The whole staff was helpful and didn't pressure me into any decisions. I came knowing what car I was interested in, and the first person I met (I believe she was an office manager or receptionist) gave me the keys and allowed me to look over the car alone, which was a much better experience than other dealerships that hover over you and pressure you to make a choice. When it came to financing, Brady was really helpful in getting me the best rate, ensuring me that my preapproval with Capital One could be beat (and it was!). my recent experience at your dealership while attempting to purchase a 2024 Dodge Durango. When I first spoke with Brady, he refused to discuss the deal because the credit check was under my husband's name. After getting permission from my husband, we were able to move forward. However, during the financing process, I chose to decline GAP coverage, LoJack, and the extended warranty because I already have excellent insurance. At that point, Brady told me he would not finalize the deal unless I added one of these accessories, explaining that otherwise "he wasn't going to make any money." The lo jack coverage was 899.00 he claimed it was for "the bank giving us the loan." I even offered to pay $200 directly to cover the bank fee, but he refused, insisting on rolling the additional charges into my loan would increase my loan. This is an unfair and misleading sales practice. At no other dealership have I ever been told that I am required to purchase unnecessary add-ons in order to complete a vehicle purchase. Your dealership is already making money from the sale of the vehicle itself, and I should not be obligated to buy accessories I do not want or need just so the salesperson can increase their commission. I wasted half a day of my time only to be pressured and misled. I am extremely disappointed with this experience and will be sharing my concerns with the Better Business Bureau and other consumer protection agencies if this matter is not addressed. I respectfully request that management review these practices and take corrective action. Customers deserve transparency, fairness, and respect when making such a significant purchase. read more

Broke Legal Binding Contract NEVER provided my financed car. In fact they'll call you and lie it was "already sold" if you find issues so be aware. Aware of all negative reports reviews. Rats will steal and run your credit as exposed by a credit bureau. Vehicle engine was visibly poor condition (hence auction price) but falsely mislead you on CARFAX APP with false "runs great." I would not recommend this lot, first off they have not had an auction for over 5 years lol ! even the worker told me that! While I came to originally look at a Cadillac ATS a 428i caught my eye decided to give it a look had MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES , not to mention i drove HOURS to buy a car and when it came time to purchase it i asked for a test drive first before i finished signing the paper work and they said i needed to buy the car first in order to since i wasn't "25 years old" every major car dealership i went to allowed me to with a sale-rep, valid CA driver's license, and my proof of insurance all which i provided and reassured i was paying full cash and would also be willing to put a UNNECESSARY DEPOSIT they told me no. On November 1, 2024, I purchased a 2016 Audi Q5 and paid in full. The buying process was easy and quick, and the staff was nice during the sale. However, that's where the positive experience ends. On November 9, I noticed that the fuel gauge stopped working. I contacted CCCAA to explain the issue, and the young lady I spoke with informed me that the car was sold "as is." She offered to refer me to a mechanic for repairs, but there was no compassion or empathy, especially considering I had just spent $15,000 on the vehicle. Unfortunately, the situation worsened. I began to smell fuel inside the car, followed by a significant oil leak and a burning smell from the engine. Within less than a month of having the car, it is already in the shop. I did purchase a warranty, so I hope that whatever is wrong with the vehicle will be covered. Guess you can say I won't be a repeat customer. read more

The car I went there specifically for had a few cosmetic issues I couldn't overlook (others might not have cared), but I found something else that I was completely satisfied with. Very easy process, no salesmen and fair prices. Special thanks to Jessica and Daniel for their assistance! I've read some negative reviews about people not happy with this place. Cars that are being sold "AS IS" means buyer beware...you assume all risk if the car ends up having issues. Buy the extended warranty if you have concerns. We were also told that we could take our car to a local mechanic within 48 hours (for a small fee) for a more thorough inspection if desired. I'm also thinking cars are sold as first come, first served. They're in the business of selling cars. If you delay or procrastinate, you might find yourself out of luck. read more

This is a new and updated review based on my experience from November 5, 2023. I did end up going to the dealership due to the fact that they had already run my credit. When I got there I spoke to a woman (didn't catch her name) and then walked around the lot. I ended up test driving two cars, a 2011 Mazda and a 2019 Jetta. When I came back in to discuss purchasing the Jetta, the associate brought up my last review and said, "well we can't hold cars without a deposit or if you're not doing business in person because it's discriminatory." Which tells me she did not actually read my review. I said that I understand business is first come first serve, but that it was the lack of decency to call me and tell me that the car I had been approved for was sold less than fifteen minutes after I had spoken to someone. Whatever the case, because it was Sunday, she said she didn't know if she would get an approval before the end of the day. We walked around the lot for a little while before deciding it was better to go home and just come back, but when I went in the office to tell her that I wanted to put a deposit on the car (so they couldn't sell it in my absence) before I could get a word out she said, "I don't have any news for you." Put a bad taste in my mouth, but I put down the $500 deposit and we went home. Few hours later we get the call that I wasn't approved, whatever it happens, but it wasn't the woman who called me, it was Alex. The person who couldn't be bothered to tell me that the car I was approved for sold fifteen minutes after we got off the phone. He asked me if I was really interested in a car with "that many miles anyway" and asked if I saw anything else I liked because "they were just trying to help." I asked if he could see if I qualify for a 09 Honda Fit that was at least $3000 less than the Jetta and he said okay. This man calls me back a few hours later to offer me a car I didn't even SEE on their lot, that was pretty much the same price as the Jetta (minus a few hundred dollars) and told me he needed an answer right then and there on the phone since he won't be in tomorrow. I almost caved because I was quite literally sick of this BS but the final nail in the coffin was when I said I had to work all week (you know, because I switched my shifts around to see the car he told me I was approved for) and I asked if he could use the deposit I put on the Jetta for the Mazda and he said no. That I would have to make a separate $500 deposit. And that even with that deposit, they couldn't hold the car for more than 24 hours, which meant unless I could somehow rearrange my work schedule AGAIN there was a high chance that they'd sell the car again. I declined and that concludes any business I might have had with the Contra Costa County Public Auto Auction. I stand on my original review. This place is terrible. My second experience was much worse and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Bought an 2008 Audi and found out it had a slow gas leak. It drove perfectly fine otherwise. Never would have known. After two or three weeks, the light kept coming on every so many miles, about every two weeks. Before buying the car, the light was on. When I inquired, the CCCPAA salesman said it had been through all checks and everything was fine and that all I had to do is just take it to the dealer and they would turn off the dashboard notification. I did. Then after that, a few weeks later we had to keep bringing the car back, so the dealer put on diagnostic to see why oil kept leaking and saw that it had a hole, causing a slow leak. At this point I wanted my money back but the contract said "as is". Well, I don't think this was fair. Isn't there a lemon law? I took CCPAAA's word that it was fine. I wasted $8,000. $10,000 after tax. read more

I bought a Tesla model S here around 3 weeks ago for more than 40K. These guys knew nothning about tesla or EV. However, when trying to sell guarranty, he (named Alex) talked like an expert on EV powertrain and battery. They did not even give a decent wash on a 40K car. I had to have the car detailed after purchase. I found a crack on the glass roof while it was detailed. My bad! did not see it when purchasing the car. Called them, the guy denying of knowing anything about the cracks blamed the car during my procession (I expected but I just wanted to see how they talked and at least showed some sympahty). He was just rude, in fighting mood just wanted to hang up on me. Ironically, after all of this, they sent me an email asked to give them a good review. Overall, if you want to buy really cheap cars and found them good prices here, you could hire someone inspect the car. For more expensive cars, then stay away this place. read more
