Sunday night 1/2 price pizza to finish the weekend! I actually learned about the 1/2 price pizza night from a yelp review. We first tried a non-Sunday meal (ravioli are homemade and delicious...but a bit salty- moderation is key if ordering those). 2nd visit was for the pizza (and football ). Cook'd puts their own spin on their pizza, our favorite so far is the Spicy Pizza- pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and...pepperoncinis (aka banana peppers). Toppings are fresh just like their dough. Can get a bit crowded/slower service on this hidden night- especially if they are down a server, so just keep some patience in your back pocket, order a glass of their house wine (Proverb is pretty decent and prepare to enjoy a really good pizza. Hubby and I tend to split a medium and still have some slices to spare for lunch the next day. Wish I could give an extra for their fancy wine glasses. Coronavirus Update: First week back open since coronavirus shutdown. Took advantage of 1/2 price pizza Sunday, awesome spring weather, and sun dappled patio seating for 2 and 2 pooches. Cook'd was ready for safety. Disposable menus, face masked wearing servers and socially distanced patio seating. Time to get back out there and support our favorite local restaurants that had to shut down during the height of the pandemic. We have tried Cook'd over and over hoping the let down from the previous visit was a fluke. The italian fried chicken was amazing once, then greasy, sauce splitting, or with inedible chicken after that. We've tried to go orders that were forgotten and never rung in or had missing items once we got home. And lastly, their half off pizza promo on Sundays is ran for dine in only, no where is that specified in their Facebook posts or signage outside. When we called to ask the individual who answered for Cook'd only responded with "well, I don't know what to tell you". Overall, it's meh. Not great, not good, just there. Cook'd opened in April 2019 and Gayle and wandered in the Fall of this year. We joke about going "clubbing" in greater Genoa, which usually turns out to be snacks and music at Wally's bar and an occasional Lunch out. Cook's already had some very good reviews and when we pulled up, we remembered that this building as formally housing the Tahoe Ridge Winery, which had previously moved from Genoa. Walking in, there's a lot of room in here, with both of us getting the impression that the restaurant was still working on growing into their space (including an upstairs). The bar is way in the back, while the restaurant service is in the front and including a very nice front and side outdoor area/ We chose to sit outdoors. There was some initial confusion at first on who would be our wait person, but after that was straightened out, the food order and service came quickly. I had the Tahoe Burger with Blue Cheese, while Gayle had the same without the bun. We split the sides between salad and fries, added wine and beer, and had a most enjoyable meal on a very pleasant day. I'm sure we'll be back for a future lunch or dinner. read more

Everything great, except the DISHONEST DESSERT LISTING My brother and I had a lovely dinner here last week He had a burger and I had the artichoke chicken. Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted delicious, and was plated attractively (simple, no fuss). The dining room is cozy and attractive, and the servers are well-informed, efficient and friendly. This is a great place for dinner, and I highly recommend Cook'd. The reason for only 4 stars: A very weird situation. The menu says that Tiramisu is a dessert option. We both ordered Tiramisu, and were served a bowl of vanilla pudding, poured over crispy baked ladyfingers, with whipped cream on top. Obviously, this is not Tiramisu, which is layers of soft ladyfingers first soaked in brandy/coffee, then layered alternately with mascarpone cheese, with whipped cream on top, and then sprinkled with chocolate shavings. The pudding didn't even have hints of coffee, brandy, or chocolate. It was seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg. When we mentioned to our server, that we were served the wrong dessert, she informed us that this IS what the chef calls Tiramisu. Well, I can serve you a pear and a pretzel, and call it "Apple Pie", but it's not apple pie. I can serve you a cup of warm milk and a hardboiled egg, and call it "Ice cream", but it isn't ice cream. I can give you *hit on a shingle and tell you it's "steak", but that doesn't make it a steak. I do not understand the mind of a "chef" who would serve a random school cafeteria dessert, and call it something else that actually requires skill and patience, not to mention traditional ingredients. Ironically, I LOVE classic cafeteria vanilla pudding with whipped cream. Throw in a 'Nilla Wafer or two, and I'm in heaven. If the chef had put "Vanilla Pudding with cookies & cream" on the menu, I would have ordered it! The pudding was fresh, obviously not from a mix, and the whipped cream was fresh too, not out of a can. It was a delicious dessert, and I ate every bite. But why the deception about the name? Man I wish I would have taken pictures of the food we had but we were so excited to try everything!!! It's fun going to a new to you restaurant with another foodie!!! We started with the garlic chips OMG I had the tri tip salad (the tri tip was cooked perfectly) It was so tasty My friend had the artichoke burger and he said it was delicious Dessert YES please! we shared the chocolate lasagna! Went to Cook'd last night with sister and brother-in-law. I don't typically post negative reviews , but this was worthy of allowing readers to make a decision . I did wait until the next morning to write my review. So I wasn't all emotional , angry and disappointed when I began writing . First, let me say what was good. The Zughetti ( zucchini spirals) with "gravy" (marinara sauce) was good. Tasted fresh , zucchini was crisp. My sister asked if I would order again. I would , if I would ever return here ! On to why I won't ... Asked for a taste of wine to sample. The glass came with lip prints on it! And spots ( those were minor but added to the event !) . I couldn't get past the lip prints and didn't even try the wine ! My sister then looked at her wine glass. Guess what ? Yep , lip prints.... So I looked over the specialty drink list. I've never had an Old Fashioned cocktail and after reading the menu description and how the cocktail had Luxardo cherries , I decided at 64 years old it was time to try one. And I'm with my sister , so we will toast our Mom !! The cocktail came. I took a look . I know what Luxardo cherries look like. That sure looked like a maraschino in my glass. I know what Luxardo cherries taste like. I fished the cherry out and popped it in my mouth. It was definitely not a Luxardo cherry. Straight up maraschino from Smart and Final. I think it was a fine cocktail for $12.50. EXCEPT for the misrepresentation of the cherry. That was a deal breaker .... I've eaten a lot of calamari in my life. Panko, tempura , bread crumbs all as coating. But I absolutely have no idea what was coating this calamari. It was so thick you couldn't even tell if there was calamari inside ! And it was Waaayyy overcooked , it was dark brown, not golden colored. Breading , overcooked or bad oil? Maybe all three. . The Calamari came in a bowl like you would get oatmeal in. Absolutely no presentation. Don't cooks realize the visual of food is part of the entire experience? No lemon , did come with some marinara sauce and unknown white sauce. WAs the calamari good ? I have no idea because of all the breading and that it was "bowled " all on top of each other making the horrible breading soggy. Bruschetta is probably one of the simplest dish to make. It's all in the ingredients ! If you can't get flavorful tomatoes , DON'T SERVE IT! Tomatoes were diced, not even close to red in color and had no taste. And in September in northern Nevada you can still get good tomatoes. Garlic, I couldn't taste any. Basil , maybe dried . Bread was good , thank goodness . On a service note , when the appetizers were served I asked the server if we could get serving spoons. She hesitated , and I said " oh should I use my fork?" In this day and age , many people do not want to put there fingers into a communal bowl of food !! Once I put my fork into my mouth I certainly can't use it again on the communal plate or oatmeal bowl.., and the server never did bring any spoons to serve the appetizers. Sisters chicken breast sandwich had to be sent back because of onions. Server acknowledged, "I have no onions on the order". When sandwich came back the chicken breast was about the size of 1/2 of bun . Brother in law had the chicken Parmesan. Same terrible breading and cook on the chicken breast. Come on , in this time of "chicken wars" - take lessons from chikfilet, Popeyes, even KFC and figure out how to cook a chicken breast. BIL said the chicken was dried out. This restaurant is in a smaller town with few nice meal options. I'd like this place to be successful. But you've got to have the food spot on. Too many missteps on this visit. read more

The service is sub par and the food doesn't meet the menu description. The Buffalo chicken sandwich says it has chicken tenders and instead it's one small Sysco frozen chicken patty. For their prices if it's not hand breaded it's not ok. The servers are hit or miss but the main two seem to just not care at all and are usually annoyed. We've tried 4x and we're done. read more

The menu has a variety of options a bit of everything. The pasta dishes we had were good. Didn't care for the layout of the restaurant. Felt more like an office waiting area than a restaurant. How about "Overcooked" as in everything was way overcooked The great attentive service and clean fun venue earned it a 3. The food was lacking and overpriced for what it was.... My double jack coke was a double coke and coke.... Calimari came out quickly but was a dark brown and had more crunch than a burnt tortilla chip. Entrees arrived in a reasonable time... I had the chicken and waffle The chicken was dry and Italian herb seasoning was a swing and a miss....it just didn't pair well. Management needs to think more southern fried chicken and not Italian influence on this item..... I mean whose ever gone to Italy for its famous chicken and waffles ? The waffle on the other hand was tasty . Perfectly cooked and fluffy with the right amount of sweetness. Wifey had the salmon....dry and stiff is all I can say about it... Appetizer- the chips and salsa are good. The chips just crumble and you can tell they put love into the salsa. The Cesar salad was not impressive. It was overbearing with garlic, and they used the romaine leaves which are bitter instead of the hearts. I could not finish the salad as the garlic was literally burning my mouth. The Tahoe burger was cooked well done when it was supposed to be medium. The overall flavor was great, but it was dry from being overcooked. The spicy burger was hot. My company said the flavor was really good, and the fries were cooked to perfection. The alfredo was also good. It's a very rich sauce. I had just a few bites and it filled me up. I also had to have my dish replaced because the first one was really cold. The chicken seemed like it just left the refrigerator. The 2nd dish was hot and better. Pricing- a bit expensive. It was $63 for 3 people with 2 appetizers. Each of the burgers was $14 and the alfredo was $16. My husband, a former executive chef would not have priced those burgers at $14 even with the local beef that was used. Very thin patties for the price. It's average. My first experience was a Saturday evening. The waitress up sold a topping for the ribeye... Came out so good, the flavor was amazing. Wanted medium rare but got rare but it was still good. Service was great also. Liked it so much brought my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary (42nd) and ordered that rib eye again. Came back medium with no toppings (forgot) but nice if the waitress told me about the toppings. She did not. The Shrimp scampi pasta dish was $24 and came with 5 small shrimp. Stopped by for dinner on my way up to Reno and this place did not disappoint. Fun environment, friendly staff, clean bar with lots of tv's. I ordered the spicy burger with extra crispy tots and it was amazing and delivered fast! My burger was Cook'd perfectly and the tots were nice and crunchy. Definitely recommend trying Cook'd out if you're in the area or passing through! Only downside is I didn't win at poker.., but had a fun time playing while enjoying the meal. read more

I am so bummed this place had such poor performance. And on my birthday. Had to send my meal back after one hour wait and one of our littles never even got their meal. Tips: Don't seat clientele if are heavily in the weeds and self proclaimed short staffed. When I called: Was told walk in only but when we walked in was asked if I had a reservation. Hostess did not even know they had high chairs. (Thankfully my husband saw then about 10 ft from the hostess desk) Experience: Sat promptly but had 3 people take orders who did not communicate our orders or drinks or food. Food: Staff doesn't seems to have tasted anything since they couldn't make any recommends only say what people ordered. Ordered Picatta based on that and had to send it back, sat on warmers so long the pasta was 2 different colors. Salty chicken as well. Individual pizza was so thin and small I would change its title to flatbread-ish. Service: Good the first 15 min then had to go to the hostess stand 2x to leave and get any kind of attention. Atmosphere: So nice and atypical for this area. Total: 65 for 3 meals 1 app and 3 happy hr drinks. Overall: Please get your act together. Bartender was slow to provide service, and not attentive. Few customers in restaurant and no others at bar with us. Two orders were stale, old, precooked. one order incorrect. I was immediately greeted and was given options on where I wanted to sit. I asked our server, Jason, that I wanted a cocktail but I wasn't really sure what exactly I wanted. He asked me a few questions about what I liked and he came back with a drink that was perfect. My husband ordered a protein style Tahoe burger and I ordered the wedge salad.
