I loved going here pre COVID and last night my friend was craving a milkshake and decided to go through the drive through. Well do NOT go here. Very disappointed with the service in this establishment. When I ordered a combo there was no option for a cup of water, and to add even more drama to the story they charged me for the bottled water. Cook out is the type of spot for me that after leaving the nightclub drunk you have your under driver drop you off at. I thoroughly only enjoy eating here late nights after parties and if I'm in the mood for one of their signature hand-spun shakes! For $4.99 baby you can't go wrong with getting you a good ole cook out tray! You choose one food item and then two sides and a drink! Can't beat that! Now if you get a shake of course that's a little more but if you balling on a budget get you a tray! I've never been to Cook Out but every local is a fan of the Strawberry Cheesecake milkshake, so knowing that cheesecake was involved, I of course had to try it out. Went through the drive thru, picked up a shake and some cookout rounds (which were super cheesy and heavy but delicious with the cookout sauce), and got to work. All I can say about this shake is THICCC. You literally need a spoon to power through this $2 dessert and I've had a lot of milkshakes. In n out, Baskin Robbins, McDonalds, local Diners, etc. Cook Out's strawberry cheesecake shake takes the cake. The only place that might compare is Five Guys but until they get Strawberry Cheesecake on their menu, Cook Out will still be #1. Amazing, 10/10 flavor, and I still dream about it. I love the food at The Cookout but the service is horrible at this location. I still go because I love the food but have decided to start going to the E Ponce location. This particular one on Northside will make a mistake on your order 50% of the time. I've went to this location 12 times (7 times order was incorrect). I repeat the order and they repeat it back and it's still incorrect. Now before I drive away I check the ticket taped on my order before I leave to make sure. When I pay I don't get an itemized receipt but just the total paid. I will still continue to eat at The Cookout just at a different location. read more

I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich, hush puppies, chicken quesadilla, and Banana Pudding milkshake all for, $6.49! The chicken was very fresh and tender, I also loved the fresh hush puppies. Now the milkshake was delicious. One of the best I've ever had. My friends and I were visiting ATL for the weekend and had to have cookout 2x! Last night I wanted to be a fatty. In fact, this entire weekend I've been a glutton. I had my own personal parfait party on Saturday. Ate a bunch kitkats at my friends place Friday. I've been eating out alot, just had a bunch of mediocre pizza and bread at Ribalta on Sunday. Idk whats wrong with me, I've been eating so clean and cooking my own meals (tilapia, salmon, cod, etc), but let I've let loose the past 4 days, even skipped the gym. 4 days of no gym. There is a double drive thru. Two menus in each drive thru to eliminate long waits. A large dining area and faster service. The menu and pricing is the same. What make cook out very unique is there 4.99 cook out tray. Which includes a entree ( sandwiches, burger or hot dog) and two sides like ( hush puppies, chicken nuggets, hot dog , fries onion rings and slaw ) to name a few and a drink.They do charge extra for milkshake on the combo.To my opinion it is the best fast food deal in Atlanta. There is more parking in the back than in the front of the building. Staff seem to be more attentive and helpful. The location tends t get busy during lunch time and rush hour between 5-7 pm. So... Before a few days ago I'd never been to a Cookout in my life. I have a few coworkers that hail from the Carolinas, where Cookout originated, and they swear by this place. So I finally decided to try it! This is standard backyard cookout food. It's pretty good quality and you get a real bang for your buck. I got one of their trays and got a side of slaw and onion rings. I really enjoyed the burger, the rings were solid, but the slaw was a little dry. I decided to try one of their famous milkshakes. Something told me to go with Vanilla or Oreo, but I saw they had an Eggnog flavor and I thought I'd treat myself. Big mistake. In spite of the fact that I LOVE eggnog and still have yet to have any this season, I just hated this shake. Next time I'll go for what I know. I will absolutely be coming back to this place. But usually after you eat all that crappy fried stuff and world's thickest milkshake, you feel like crap and it is all sitting like a brick in your stomach. For like $5, you can get an entree with two "sides," but the sides are things like chicken fingers and corn dogs. Not the healthiest options, to be true. But if you cannot decide between a hamburger or chicken fingers, you can have both. Why not? The shake flavor list is so long, it would take a week to read it all, so I usually just pick the peanut butter chocolate and move along. They are too thick to drink thru a straw at first, so ask for a spoon. This location is pretty neatly laid out - a double drive thru done right. Two ordering stations and two windows. Smart. In this day and age it is truly a novelty to get this much food for such a small price. Everything here is cheap cheap cheap, but food quality is pretty average. The burgers are small, but have a char taste similar to Burger King. The chicken nuggets and onion rings are straight from a freezer bag and taste that way. This place is the ultimate post-drunk meal (or hangover fix) with plenty of crispy salty and/or sweet crap to satiate oneself. I only took a few bites of the "Cheddar Prepared" burger. Not my favorite. Sort of like a B rate Five Guys Burger. I love a good charr grilled tasting hot dog and that's what you get...I'll definitely grab one of those every once in a while with a tasty milkshake and maybe some hush puppies. They offer a tray that let's you buy a regular sized sandwich of some kind with a million side options, from which you can pick two. Living in the city definitely has its perks and CookOut is one of them. I was first introduced to this franchise while traveling across the East coast through the Carolinas. This was a few years back because there were none located in Atlanta. Fast forward to present day, and I now have the pleasure of living no less than 10 minutes away. It is here that I've fallen in love with their "Original Style Char-grilled Chicken Sandwhich", their speedy service, those affordable prices and their generous portions of food. I especially love how you can order a combo meal where the sides can include items such as chicken wrap, corndog, quesadilla, etc. Cookout is always clean, stays open late and so far I've eaten here twice this week! I will definitely be back to try various combinations of their milkshakes and toppings on my New York Cheesecake!! read more

This is my favorite Cook-out of all the ones I've visited both in GA and other southern states. For some reason, my wife and I usually end up at this cookout LATE at night after having a fun night out somewhere and ending up starving. We've swung by here after many a night at the Fox theatre or a movie or whatever. In fact, I don't think I've ever come here in the day time but even late at night, this location is always busy, on and poppin'. One time when we visited, there was a bad-ass African American biker gang with as many women as men bikers. We caught them coming out of the restaurant just as we were pulling around to pick up our order so we stopped to allow them to pull off on their gorgeous neon-colored bikes. It was quite a sight to see, made me miss the show 'Sons of Anarchy' something terrible! SO cool! But enough about bikers and back to Cook-Out... haha... Even though there's always a crowd here, we've never had anything but FAST and FRIENDLY service. They have two drive-thru lanes and there is no stalling on the line--these guys know what they're doing! If you've ever been to Cook-out you know how EXTENSIVE the menu is, so it's pretty impressive that these employees know how to get customers in and out with little to no wait or lag time. LOVE IT. Disclaimer: I've never actually been inside this location but judging by the crowd that's always in there (you can see through the glass windows as you pull up), it must be just as awesome as the drive-thru. Best food after a night out in Atlanta. It's fast food, so don't expect the best quality (I wouldn't go before midnight). It's simply a cheap late-night option with so many foods to choose from. I personally go for the chicken sandwich with a side of chicken wrap, chicken quesadilla, fries, or hushpuppies (and a $1 upgrade to a milkshake for the drink). FOOD: The food is cheap. It's more focused on quantity than quality (how is a chicken wrap considered a side?), which is perfect for certain times of the day. Some of the sides haven't been what I expected, but I'm generally happy with the quantity of food, and all of it tastes great to me. I was initially disappointed by the chicken nuggets and chili as a side, because it was less than I expected, but it's still more than you can expect at other locations for the same price. MILKSHAKE: The milkshakes are more like slightly melted ice cream. They're extremely thick and always require a spoon to eat/drink. This isn't a problem for me, because ice cream is delicious, but it might throw some people off. OTHER: The Cook-Out on Northside Drive is the only one I have been to, so I can't compare it to the other locations in Atlanta, but the service is pretty quick, and I feel safe (there's security at night). Even with the surge of Georgia Tech students on weekend nights, the food is out soon after ordering.
