The bacon is the serious thick cut bacon. You don't find that at other chains. The milkshakes are actually what's called a concrete. Yes people, that's a real thing. It's not a flaw or a mistake. I refuse to ding them for trying to cram too much goodness into a shake. And yes, the bathrooms are sometimes a little worn out, but keep in mind, it's a burger joint aimed at the late night college crowd. For starters, they messed up our order, which was 4 cheeseburgers with lettuce and ketchup. When we asked them to correct it by adding cheese to the cheeseburger and giving us a piece of lettuce, (one was missing cheese & one was missing lettuce), they insisted on seeing the receipt, which was no problem being as we literally just ordered our food an ate in restaurant. I've always loved Cook-out since I lived in Carolina. I was thrilled when it started moving further north after we moved north. However, the experience I had here yesterday was disappointing. I ordered food for myself and my husband in the drive through. While we were getting gas, I noticed that the CAJUN fries I had ordered were just plain regular fries- didn't even have SALT on them. They were also way over cooked. I went back into the restaurant to ask for new fries. I explained that not only were these not the cajun fries I ordered, but they were over cooked as well. "I'll get you a packet of cajun seasoning" was the response. I wanted fresh fries, seasoned cajun while they were hot, and not overcooked. I walk and could quickly see I was dealing with BBQ and Burgers. Thats right up my alley, and the prices are crazy low. My main complaint here is the selection of sides. A corn dog is not a side. A quesadilla is not a side. I'd love to see them add mac n cheese, green beans, baked beans, broccoli, a side salad, or fresh fruit cup to their list of side items...especially the healthier options. This is a new restaurant to Harrisonburg (2012) and I believe one of the first two or three in Virginia. This place is in my top 5 for the most affordable lunch in Harrisonburg. The burger or chicken type lunch specials run $5.34. What really sets this place apart from others is the selection and choice of sides. With a burger lunch special you get a choice of two sides. Choices include a quesadilla, chili, fries, corn dog and several others. The chili rivals that of Wendy's but not quite and is on the spicy side, but not too much so. The double-lane drive through is almost as fast as going to a Jimmy Johns. Use the outside lane and pick up your food at the window on the front of the building. It's faster. Just beware that you will have to drive in front of the other lane when it's your turn to get your food. The milkshake list is just incredible. I had the watermelon when it was in season and it was just wonderful. I need to try more of those here! My only complaint about this place is the tables and seating area. There are no one or two person tables. I always feel bad sitting at a booth or table with just one person. There are seats outside on the patio if the weather is nice enough. Everytime I have gone they have gotten something wrong with my order. I go here cause I'm hammered and need food and they always short me on the nuggets. I k Nik ow they should give you 5. Fast and accurate staff and you get a lot of food for a little bit of money... it's usually very crowded in here when we go. They were different because of the cheese goo, but the bacon was undercooked. I picked most of it off. The highlight was the milkshake.
