Live almost 60 miles from this Cook Out location in Pensacola, FL and occasionally pass by on business but never have time to stop until today.. So today was my first time and the menu makes you want to try one of everything because it all looks so good.. Since I couldn't do that I decided to get two burgers and a fry. I got the Chili / Slaw Cheeseburger and the Reg Cheeseburger to eat later tonight. The Chili Slaw Burger was good and the fries as well.. The only Cons to this establishment is it's a huge building and I had every intention on going inside to sit down and eat but it's not that kind of place.. You can order at the drive thru or you can park and walk up to the side window and order that way ... It's basically like a Sonic but no tables or chairs outside to sit at even though they have plenty of room. No bathroom access such as Sonic either. I was a little disappointed about this but it is what it is. A local lady who had ordered and was waiting with me said that they were going to put tables and chairs outside but the city wouldn't let them.. That didn't make sense to me because there is a Sonic directly next door which offers tables, seating and no bathroom.. ‍ Staff was friendly and offered great service, the food was good. So, this time I ordered 2 double cheese burgers. I'm not the biggest fan of bacon in general but I added it so I could give some of it to Lexi. Also - 4 shakes were ordered: Peach, Strawberry Cheesecake & 2 Watermelon shakes. Watermelon is my most favorite fruit ever so I just couldn't picture it in a shake. It's vanilla ice cream & then they add chunks of frozen watermelon. It's the 1st time I've ever said a shake was refreshing! I half expected to see a watermelon seed at some point! The Strawberry Cheesecake was mine because I adore cheesecake. The Peach Shake was for my best friend. I'm pretty impressed with Cook Out. The burgers were incredibly fresh & delicious! Also - the whole order was ready in about 3-4 minutes. The cheese on the burgers were melty & the bacon was freshly cooked. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Look at those prices ; Mcdonald's cost more than this... I ordered 3 items + the drink for $6.99 , and I wasn't let down. Even the dorito bag taco was phenomenal. With the managers walking outside the premises making sure everyone was pleased , I felt very welcome & happy to have a new place with this much customer service. The woman taking my order was very quick, and took down all 10+ items that I ordered in little to no time. She sounded like she had a Doctorate Degree when speaking to me. I was blown away. I also ordered multiple wraps ; priced at under $3 , I wasn't let down whatsoever. I highly recommend the Bacon Ranch Wrap. It was amazing! Updated Review as of 3/13/2026 Recently went to cook out, ordered 5 bacon double cheeseburgers for my family. Cook out has raised their prices by a good amount. It cost us a little over $35 for those 5 burgers The burgers are not big, they around the same size of a McDonald's double, still tasty but definitely not worth $35 for 5 burgers in my opinion. There are tons of great burger places in Pensacola, especially the food trucks, where you get your bang for your buck. We are already cutting back on takeout and extras to save money in this economy, so we definitely like to choose a place that meets all our needs, good food, good sizes, good prices. Sadly Cook Out will no longer be on our list of places to eat. The staff was very nice and answered our shocked questions about the rise in prices and how we got to the $35, bacon is $1.00 per sandwich and the cheese is like .60 or 80. The food tastes pretty good but the burgers are quite small. I went through the drive thru at 4 pm in the middle of the week so it wasn't busy. I ordered bacon for my burger, paid extra for it, but got no bacon on my burger. My wife's burger had no tomato on it even though it was ordered with tomato. Things to know: 1. They need a menu for this Pensacola location that's easy to find. I couldn't find one, and they don't carry several things on the company website menu. 2. I had grilled onions today. They add A LOT of 'slightly grilled,' very long onion strings to the burger. The burgers had somewhat of a chargrilled flavor, but I was hoping for, and expected, more. Sides (which come with a tray order and you get 2 sides.) We all thought the regular fries were unremarkably plain, boring, fast food, crinkle fries that needed salt. The onion rings were fine with more crust than needed, but full rings, not chopped onion. The chicken nuggets were not bad at all. You get 3 nuggets as a side item. They were out of corn dogs today, but I had one last week and it was good, but you should know it's the sweetest batter you've ever had on a corndog. (Like a dessert corndog, but I liked it. lol) The hushpuppies were dry and not sweet. Shakes They are super thick! You'll need a spoon if you don't want to wait for it to melt a bit. The chocolate malt was really good, but the banana pudding shake has the weirdest texture and so sweet I would never order it again. Here's what you need to do; get in the drive-through, order the big double burger house style, some chili cheese fries, and a caramel cheesecake shake. We're from North Carolina so we love cook out already but the quality of the food here specifically was really good. The onion rings are wayyy better at this location than any other place I've tried. My husband and I got dinner from here tonight and had a wonderful experience. We both got trays, I ordered a big double burger cookout style, Cajun fries, and a ranch chicken wrap. I also got a chocolate malt with Oreos. The milkshake was sooo good. Loaded with Oreos which I loved. My husband ordered the cheese bites as one of his sides which he liked. We have been many times and I'm never disappointed. I always get the big double burger (same amount of meat but it's two thinner patties for more char/flavor from the grill) House style or Cheddar style. I think it's important to pick a style for the best flavor. For my two sides I like the Cajun chicken wrap, corn dog or Cajun fries which have an amazing flavor. I am not a dessert person whatsoever but their milkshakes are incredible especially the peanut butter milkshake and the banana (they mix in a real banana, no flavoring!) they are fresh and thick and very good. Burgers were best I've ever tasted, but I guess I don't really have much experience with good burgers because the chain fast food places in Pensacola are bad but compared to other places it made me feel very full. The way they serve and take orders at the window is very convenient to me. You actually have to cross over the lane and go around building to window. The convoluted menu is so confusing. I typically don't leave reviews but I think the (3) 1 star reviews are a disservice. All of those reviews were from opening day or the day after. EVERYONE knows that when places open you allow the employees time to adapt to the expectations of the establishment and people go CRAZY when new places open so with that many customers mistakes are going to happen. I went just a few minutes ago, line was moving quickly, food was FRESH, and employees were polite. A Jr. tray comes in at $6.99 and a regular tray at $7.99. You get an entree, 2 sides, & drink. The gentleman from South Carolina who took my order was friendly and talkative. Our food was fresh hot and prepared correctly. We ordered two burgers , a Spicy , Cajun fries, hush , onion rings and cheese curds all of them were tasty. We finally tried Cook Out for the first time. I ordered a double cheeseburger tray. My sad, wilted bun, slightly soggy burger tasted like lighter fluid. The Cajun fries were good and crispy, there must have been an onion ring shortage. I got 3 small ones. They were not horrible, just ok. The tea is more like drinking slightly flavored (and I do mean SLIGHTLY) water. How on earth can you mess up tea???? It started raining hard while we were in line, so some of the parking lot attendants when scurrying, which caused an immediate slow down. Could be a great fast food joint for late night snacks however their customer service makes this place somewhere I would never recommend. Their drive through workers are so rude and mean for absolutely no reason. My husband and I are very polite every time; saying please and thank you and we understand being busy, having a bad day, or being tired late night. However, they are almost combative with you when you order every single time. Every time you say "thank you" or ask a question they just stare back at you or seem annoyed you're speaking to them. Today we pulled up and before saying hello or even acknowledging us the woman goes "you're gonna have to hold on a minute I'm busy". Again, we totally understand being busy. But the tone and aggression from the moment we pull up our car always leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Went there around 3:30 and waited in line for 5 minutes then got halfway around the building before a younger fellow came to take our order. We proceeded to ask for a menu and he then stated that he did not have a menu and that we could look it up on our phones, so we did. As we are reviewing the menu the younger fellow is constantly telling us to pull up more and we eventually reach the on board menu and we begin reviewing that one and the fellow then asked us on 2 different occasions to move up some to where we could not even see the menu anymore so we had to resort back to looking at our phones. As we pick out what we want we start ordering and he proceeded to ask multiple times of what we wanted and after repeating ourselves multiple times he finally had it down. We pull up to the window and the lady then proceeded to check us out only to find out the meal she checked us out for was not ours and after multiple conversations with the lady and having to repeat the orders once again we finally have it figured out and then we are stuck waiting longer for our food to be made. After the lady checked us out i asked for extra sauce and when we received our food it did not have the special request we had previously asked for. It was a bad experience for me and my friends but I am a optimistic person and would love to try it again at another time but I can say I am extremely disappointed in the service they provided us with today . read more
