I visited Cookies a little while back and have very good memories. We were celebrating a friend getting married, and for the girls night out we wrapped up our night here for Karaoke. The crowd was a mix of people from all walks of life, and everyone was so supportive and encouraging. Even I got up and gave it a go! I have two criticisms - it's been a long time since I've been in an establishment that allows smoking indoors. This is not allowed anywhere that I know of in New York, so it was surprising to me that this is still allowed. And I don't enjoy that, so this would likely not be a place I would go regularly. But once in a while OK. Parking is also limited in their own lot - and I worried about being able to fit in and get out of the lot - so we parked next door which also had me worried even though it wasn't a big deal and I didn't get ticketed or towed. But I did think about it multiple times that night. read more

Cookies is an absolute gem of a bar and one of my favorite places in OKC. The drinks are phenomenally priced, the bartenders are amazing, and the vibes are great. It's incredibly welcoming and inclusive, with music for everyone. I've always had a blast here regardless of if I just hopped in alone for a quick drink or if I was here with a larger group celebrating. Every night is its own special kind of magic as patrons pick their songs for the night, and there's quite a few talented regulars. Regardless of if you're singing or watching the other singers, it's a blast. You'll see people take the floor and have all eyes on them while others subtly rock a song from their seats. Was very excited to come here for the first time, but was incredibly disappointed within the first five minutes of being in the building. We came in with a large group and right after we sat down at a table to discuss what we were getting and how the karaoke worked, a bartender came over to let us know we could order at the bar. We said "okay great we'll be right up there!" Not even two minutes later he came right back yelling at us that "this is not a hang out bar, you actually have to order drinks or GET OUT." Immediately ruined the mood and excitement for the evening. Truly didn't even want to order anything at that point, but this was our only plan for the night. The vibes from the other staff and patrons were great, but that guy was a real jerk. Know what you're going to order before you get here, and don't bother sitting down first or you'll be harassed. read more

I was in OKC for work, couldn't take another hotel happy hour, and decided to look for someplace to relax and maybe sing if the mood was right. I chose Cookies on Western because it said it was a small bar, and being alone, small sounded good... I am SO glad I wandered in! From the moment I opened the door and someone (whom I don't think actually worked there) invited me in, I felt welcome. Heather at the bar was very kind and welcoming. She introduced me to some of the other patrons, and when she left to go home, made sure I had a little group I was comfortable with. The karaoke crowd was great and really cheered each other (no matter the performance). I had the best time, and felt like I'd found my tribe. I have another trip in a couple weeks, and will definitely be back. read more

A. Get there early or you will be standing. Seating is VERY limited. The place is really small but service is good at the bar. They allow smoking yet it doesn't seem super smoky inside. They come through and empty ashtrays and pick up empties often enough so the teeny tiny tables don't get overly cluttered. Karaoke is good but, again, get there early if you want to be able to sing. You have to sign up on a machine on the wall and I'm not sure how the queue is created but it seems to repeat the same people. One suggestion is they need to carry more seltzers. I'm not a big seltzer drinker but I know several people who are. read more

This could be a fun place, if they'd stop allowing indoor smoking. I'm a former smoker myself and am not trying to be judgmental, but it's much too small a space for indoor smoking. It makes it completely unbearable for non-smokers. I live walking distance from there, and it's the number one reason I never go. Restrict smoking to the patio only. Stop allowing it inside. Cookies is one of those places where the vibes are always immaculate, karaoke stars bask in the glory of nailing their favorite tunes, and total strangers become best friends with people they'd likely never cross paths with in their everyday life. The crowd is fun and accepting. The atmosphere is positive. You can expect to meet anyone from a CEO to someone without access to housing and have some great conversation about anything from politics to pop culture. The karaoke is great- whether you can't carry a tune in a bucket or have the voice of an angel, everyone is going to act like they just saw their favorite singer live when your performance is over- even if you sang their least favorite song. The place is usually crowded as the venue is small. It's a great place to have a fun, come-as-you-are celebration. The bartenders here are really good, and the prices are affordable. Bathrooms can be a little dirty. This is a great place to go when you want a guaranteed good night without dressing up. Warning- you're going to leave smelling like an ashtray in a 30 year old trailer house the next day. I'd come out for karaoke a lot more often if I didn't have to schedule visits around hair washing day and plan to wear special stinky clothes. It's a great place to go in the summertime when you don't have to worry about airing out a coat after your visit, or if you occassionally smoke and don't mind having to wash the smell out. As several others have mentioned, even those who smoke are sometimes bothered by the smoke here. If it weren't for the smoke, I would have given Cookies five stars. read more

The staff was friendly at this tiny dive bar. Because it was so small, there was plenty of opportunity for the singers to sing. They had board games. The vibe was welcoming to all. The drinks were terrible and inconsistent. It's rare that I try 4 different drinks and dislike them all. On the night we went, they shut down early due to a plumbing problem. read more

my friend called to ask if karaoke is only for 21+ and the older sounding woman who answered the phone was SO rude. they answered the phone, did not say hello or have any kind of greeting (so we thought it went to voicemail) and then proceeded to say "you called me." and when we asked the question she was so mean and said "absolutely 100%" etc. very bad first impression, would not recommend! read more

New ownership as of 2019 and many craft beer options as well old favorites. A trendier liquor choices as well. Karaoke is still 7 nights a week with KJ Joe. The Karaoke stage is gone but you're still welcome to walk around and sing with your mic if you feel so inclined. Bathrooms have been redone and have fun graffiti messages all over the walls like the old days. The patio has been expanded and 420 friendly. Way less smoky inside now as well since they installed better ventilation. Still your friendly neighborhood corner bar as always but lots of emphasis on inclusion of everyone. read more

My first foray into OKC nightlife, Cookie's reminds me very much of dive bars in the rest of America are like: drinks on the cheap, a very local crowd to boot, all while inhaling an intense cloud of cigarette smoke. There is an added nugget into the mix: karaoke. This alone has made Cookie's a staple in the city's varied nightlife scene. The place is pretty small overall, which makes the place automatically comfy on a casual night, and super easy to overcrowd on a weekend evening. When it's packed, it's a chore to navigate through the crowd and getting to the bar can be a challenge. Ventilation is a nightmare if the weather is muggy during the summers. If it weren't already obvious in these parts, karaoke is a public activity where bad lighting and cheesy systems are a guarantee and a little liquid courage and a good crowd is key. Speakers and selection could probably use a bit of updating, but it's manageable with a lot of classic song titles and artists available. They're still lacking a good KJ, but this is easily remedied. Not crazy about the bathrooms (what dive bar has awesome bathrooms anyway?) and the parking situation is very substantial. I think their biggest issue is the immense cigarette smoke. I realize it's very ingrained in Oklahoma nightlife, but it's a bit distracting for a lot of us out of towners. We'll eventually smell like it too. If all the aforementioned are things of which can be tolerated for an evening, then Cookie's is an easy place to enjoy. The pretension is non-existent and good company is a cure for just about any venue blues. read more
