I went with my husband here and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were hungry and got a lot of food. To share we got the crunchy rice tuna and the blossom roll with a mix of the fish options (like a rainbow roll). The crunchy rice tuna has such a nice combination of textures with a little crunch from the rice and creaminess from the avocado and fish. The roll was delicious. Fresh fish, the rice in the roll was just as it should be-not too mushy (a problem I find with a lot of sushi places I've tried in Oklahoma) or too firm. For myself I got the sashimi tasting which was an absolutely delicious assortment of seafood. All of the pieces were well seasoned and tasted fresh. My husband got the fried chicken and sukiyaki. He was very pleased with both. As a bonus I got a cheesecake because we were celebrating my birthday and they gave us each a shot. I appreciate that they gave me a non-alcoholic shot since I don't drink alcohol. Overall the food was fantastic and the service was great but it comes with a corresponding price tag. Was it worth it? In my opinion, yes, most definitely. I will say though that if you don't care for seafood there are options for you, but you likely won't appreciate this place nearly as much as someone who does. read more

A group of us made a 1:30 pm reservation for their buffet on the weekend. The service and food were mediocre after talking to some other friends who experienced the weekend lunch buffet also. One of our friends ordered the sushi set as his entree, which comes with 5 pieces of nigiri and a sushi roll. He only got the nigiri (salmon, regular tuna, mackerel, and 2 tamago nigiri). When we brought it to one of the servers attention, she told us it was an either/or option. After talking with other friends, they told us they received both, and the nigiri was higher quality, like toro. Three of our friends ordered the pork katsu. One of the katsus was brought out early and the other two took some time. After the other two katsus came out, it was noticeable that the first one was probably refried, which made us think it was old and they didn't want to waste it. We also learned that our other friends said that when they went, the server told them that if there was anything they liked, they could ask for more to be brought to the table. Our server did not tell us this. And the sad part is that they actually took some dishes away from the buffet and didn't refill it, which was the salmon sashimi. Overall, I feel like the experience was disappointing and the advertising was misleading. There wasn't much fresh fish available, as one might think. We came here for a late valentines dinner date. Our server was really nice and explained the menu and answered all questions. I was disappointed that they only have one veggie roll and no steak rolls or non fish protein rolls. I decided to get the veggie roll and get a side of Wagyu skewers to make my own non-fish roll. The veggies roll had 6 pieces and the Wagyu skewers were pretty small. As I took off the Wagyu meat from the stick, I noticed that 70% of it was huge chunks of fat. There were some parts that were just hunks of fat on the skewer. It was disgusting. I've had Wagyu before from much better restaurants. Such a disappointment. I even asks the waiter if they could make my veggie roll and add a protein in it like chicken or steak. Nope they can't do that. Not sure why, just roll it up with the veggies and charge for the meat..... if you like quality steak I would not order the Wagyu. Check out my photos for the chunky globules of fat that were skewered to look like Wagyu. My boyfriend got the fried rice. Half shrimp fried rice and half beef fried rice. For $20 he was also disappointed. He said the beef fried rice was just ground beef fried rice. We went to Jimmy B's and got fried rice and it was so much better. Better quality and better quantity. Better environment too. The seating was also terrible. They sat us next to a loud couple who kept talking about drinking alcohol the whole time. I don't know how they can talk about drinking alcohol for over 30 minutes, but they did. There were so many empty seats and we got seated next to another couple. At least put us two tables down. My solo dinner was curated to match my taste palette perfectly. Every dish was assembled with careful consideration and preparation using the finest ingredients. I took time in differentiating between each texture and flavors of the fish, the crafted umami taste in between each bite, while carefully admiring the delicate presentation. This was our first time and it's advertised as upscale, which it is. The place is very dim and hip. Perfectly suited for the Plaza District crowd. We had the seafood ceviche and it was pretty good. We also had the snow crab claws which were really good. They get their fish from Gulfport which is where we shop so we know it's fresh. We then had the raw orchid roll with salmon. So fresh. Quite expensive for our Friday lunch date. They also just started a Saturday and Sunday brunch at 12:00 and 1:30 for $38 (reservation only). I'd be interested in what that looks like. We spent $119 for lunch before the tip so nearly $150 with tip. Service was fabulous from the hostess and the server. We told the hostess this was our first visit and she offered for us to view the menu first. Since we are adventurous eaters, we declined. In the middle of the Plaza District, outside was cute and small but once inside it's long so bigger than it looked. The decor is modern with 2-3 dozen seatings, mix of booths, half booths, and tables. On the recommendation of Yelp reviews, we only went for the raw foods, forgoing the entrees. The raw foods like the Sashimi Tasting, the Oysters, and Yellowtail were all fresh. Wasn't crazy about their Salad nor the desserts, they were okay. My one small complaint was in the service. The Sashimi Tasting included uni, but when it came it was grilled bits of uni. I told the server I expected sashimi (after all the menu said "Sashimi Tasting"). He talked to me like I didn't know what I was talking about, that uni needs to be cooked. What? But after he talked to the chef, he took the cooked uni back and brought a couple of fresh uni. My first 5 star in 2025 (reviewed 3 in Jan and 6 in Feb) and I only had 1 in 2024. The interior decor and food presentation are simply beautiful. Definitely a date destination with someone who appreciates high quality at a price that matches. Our server was excellent and explained everything we asked about on the menu. We asked a lot since this is not a normal sushi restaurant. The sushi, sashimi, etc. are appetizers with 2 to 4 pieces with unfamiliar names. We better understood when items were delivered as they were more like creations than what you normally find. The focus is on quality not quantity. The Miso was the best we have ever had in 30 years and my wife lived in Okinawa for a bit. It was busting with flavor from the ample shitake mushrooms, seaweed and fried tofu strips. The sushi was very fresh and absolutely delicious. The seaweed salad was unique and also delicious. My fried rice was very good and came with a wood spoon which I appreciated. Takaramono is OKC's newest and most exciting Japanese restaurant. It was worth the wait. They did a great job renovating the place! The music and dim lighting offer an intimate dining experience. The food is beautifully plated. Expect near-perfect quality sushi with a good balance between fish and rice. The yellowtail serrano and tuna sashimi were very fresh and tasty.   The entrees were okay. My Takaramono fried rice was quite bland. For the price, I was surprised at how tiny it was! Also, there is not a lot of meat, and it is finely minced. An egg on top would've been great. The broth from the udon beef sukiyaki was not made for drinking since it is so sweet. The meat was tender.  We weren't impressed with their entrees but the standouts from this visit were the desserts! The matcha tiramisu was excellent! And the pistachio-burnt basque cheesecake wasn't heavy but creamy and very smooth. We were in heaven.  At the moment they are still working on their liquor license so we're looking forward to coming back for the drinks. read more

Location is in The Plaza, which parking can be crazy. However, it is next to the parking lot in the plaza, which was not busy at the time. The vibe inside was calm, dimly lit, and gorgeous. The server was sweet and handled a table of 12+ graciously. Service was fast and once your dish was made, they immediately brought it out, not waiting for others to be prepared. I wasn't sure how I felt about that initially, but it turns out I loved it and it kept your food very fresh. I ordered the Truffle Chawanmushi, Scallop(Hotate)sushi, Hamachi sushi, shrimp tempura temaki, and Hamachi temaki tempura. I will go on record to say, this was some of the freshest fish I have had in Oklahoma. The hamachi melted in my mouth and I will never forget it!! The staff are extremely nice and the location is prime (Plaza District). We went here for dinner on a weekday with a reservation and there were a nice amount of tables seated. To drink, we had Diet Coke (right now there's only water, soda, and teas). For dinner we both shared an assortment of dishes - Yellowtail Serrano & Tuna Crispy Rice for apps, Wagyu skewers & fried rice for dinner, and green tea mochi for dessert. Our server came over and he was honestly the best. We started with a Lychee martini and a Japanese beer and they both were wonderful. For appetizers, we got the yellowtail and the crispy tuna rice. The yellowtail was very good but the tuna crispy rice was INCREDIBLE. We then got some sushi to share. The eel was great, the salmon was good, the fatty tuna was definitely the best. The scallop was ok just not my favorite. We ended the night with the lemon dessert and the Dubai chocolate tiramisu. Both of these desserts were incredible. From the very start, I was highly impressed. Loved the entrance into the main restaurant and bar. Gave off a private room feeling. Started with the oysters, followed by the sticky tuna. Made a reservation for Valentine's Day omakase special. The decor had a romantic Valentine's Day decor which I love! Even the tables were cute! Our server Jo was so good! Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Was given champagne and started the omakase course with truffle chawanmushi so flavorful! Ordered yellowtail serreno add on which was very refreshing. My first time and I have heard all the hype. Due to the price point, my review is harsh, lol. Ambience: modern and beautiful decor, low light environment. Clean. 10/10 Food: chicken karaage: crispy and very good, good portion, i wish the sauce on the side. Oysters: they were served as soaking in the sauce, I never see raw oysters served like this before, interesting Fried rice: very busy fried rice, I was surprised that they kept it dry with so many ingredients and it is short grain rice, harder to keep dry. Wok hei is not bad for this dish. Toro/Kinmedai/eel nigiri: I eat the king salmon and golden eye snapper first, the fish were great quality and how the chef dealt with it was good. However, the rice is the problem here, not enough mirin, not warm and somewhat loose, the great rice always melts in your mouth and this is not the case. Then I ate the eel sushi, which is strong taste due to the sauce, I cannot tell the rice flavor that well in this case. I would strongly recommend Sashimi style due to mishandling rice. Prime beef steak, I ordered medium rare and it came out as medium, not bad. I thought the purple yam was not the best match here. A good steak restaurant will win this dish any day. Lemon: I heard so much about it and had high expectations. For 12 dollar, I expect high quality of chocolate and this chocolate is not smooth enough, the 2nd layer is white mousse which be slightly harder. The most disappointing thing is the filling, I expect high quality fruit puree from Europe and this was handmade. It looks like pickled relish(yellow,green and red) and really turned me off, the fruit trunk is big and tough and not enough gel/liquid. For the same price, I would get this dessert at L'arc Patisserie, which is superior quality. If I have to pick on the appearance, the mold they used is probably cheap one like $10 from amazon. The real one from France runs from $80-100. I would not call this Cedric Grolet dupe that great. 8/10 Price: portion is very small for the price point, you can spend a fortune here, 7/10 Service: excellent and attentive, I wish she is more familiar with the wine menu 10/10 read more

BEST HIGH QUALITY sushi I've had in Oklahoma. Since the 1st time I tried this place, I knew I'd be making regular drives to OKC from Tulsa for sashimi cravings. The fish is so so fresh - the quality reminds me of some of my favorite spots in California. The sashimi tasting is a selection of the chef's favorites. So far I've tried the toro, flounder, sea perch, ebi shrimp, salmon, scallop, tuna and hamachi - all were delectable. The truffle chawanmushi is another favorite comprised of delicate melt in your mouth egg custard cooked over seafood and topped with tobiko. The egg custard reminds me of steamed silky tofu :) The udon beef sukiyaki comes with thinly sliced beef and has a very delightful broth with a mild (but not overpowering) sweet flavor making it very unique from any udon I've tried. We got the fried rice with beef - this comes with finely chopped pieces of wagyu mixed with an abundance of flavors. HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of the above dishes for your 1st visit :) Dessert is also a must - this visit we ordered 3 - matcha tiramisu, matcha gelato and raspberry earl grey mousse. The mousse is my favorite!! Finally, I love the ambiance of this place - great place for a cozy dinner or romantic date night or wild girl's night. The yellowtail appetizer was amazing with flavorful hints of yuzu - the starter appetizer also features a variety of fresh vegetables including amazingly seasoned shishito peppers. Both the tomato avocado salad and the olive oil grilled shrimp were amazing as well (the shrimp dish sizzles as it is brought out). Great high quality green tea in addition - service is very attentive as well as fast, and the interior environs are quite fancy.
