My husband declared it a "good pour" - high praise. I'm not enough of an aficionado to know whether or not the nitro brew was up to muster but I enjoyed it. We decided to order an acai bowl - fair warning - they're huge. I thought it was delicious but definitely glad that we shared it. I thought the staff was friendly and efficient. Came here during a recent summer stay in Narraganset. Was excited to try their "locally roasted" nitro cold brew among other interesting and unique offerings. However workers were rude and seemed bothered to be waiting on us. The nitro cold brew was bitter, tasting like day old regular iced coffee :-( Hubby tried a latte that was pretty good. I realllllllly want to give this place 5 stars. I'm all about supporting small business, and love frequenting small coffee shops, but I just can't give it more than 2. PROS: -medium iced coffee: $2.50ish, very good -location: right near everything, walking distance to the beach and other shops -green factor: wooden bowls, recyclable containers, recycling bin -they have free wifi and outdoor seating CONS: -smoothie bowl: while it had excellent toppings, this just fell flat for me. It turned into soup/water consistency within 5 minutes. Not exaggerating. I've gotten many smoothie bowls in my time, and never have I ever had that happen. They don't use yogurt, I'm thinking that's the problem. It was literally just strawberries, banana, and almond milk. And it had absolutely no flavor. Very disappointed. -extra pb on my smoothie bowl: non existent, I paid extra for this and it wasn't anywhere to be found. -price: over priced for sure on the food. $12 for strawberry soup with toppings? And you forgot the pb I paid extra for? No thank you -tables: arranged kind of haphazardly, very wobbly chairs, very close together. Not comfortable, unless you're lucky enough to snag the couch. -service: they cater to locals, period. I saw this a few times in my 15 minute visit here. I have a bum foot right now, so it's pretty hard for me to walk right now. I hobbled over to the coffee station, realized the cream was empty, then had to hobble back to the front to get more cream. It was a process for me, and was visible to anyone around me. Local guy next to me literally watched me do this. The girl at the counter, instead of handing the container back to me, which I was literally standing there waiting for, she walks right past me and hands it to the local guy (customer). He then looks at me and proceeds to take it. So, I hobble back to the other side and finally get my cream. Like, what??? They also are really into having conversations with the locals, which would be fine, if they didn't have a line like 7-8 deep. A few words is fine, but save the convo for when you're not busy please. All in all I won't be back. I was visiting from Maine, and I come to Narragansett about once a year. I will not return to Cool Beans next time I'm in town. Get it together, guys. read more

Our coffee was delicious! However, we had ordered a bagel and a panini, understanding the food may take some extra time. We waited almost 25 minutes for our food (we were told 10-15 minutes). Only bothersome because we saw our food finished and the counter, and the employees kept ignoring us to greet other customers and make their drinks- although the cafe was closed at that time. Just wish there was better customer service! When we finally did get our breakfast, she just threw it in a paper bag and threw it to us. read more

I came here for the açaí bowl and so glad I did! After eating them nonstop in Hawaii I've been on an epic search to find a good one in RI. Hands down the best so far! Acai smoothie was good tasting and a good thick consistency, lots of yummy granola, fruit, and coconut. The portion size is pretty big, making this a filling whole meal. I'll be back here on warmer days probably toting my bowl to go to Narragansett Beach. It also made my kid friendly list, however I didn't see a high chair, but maybe I just missed it. Staff was friendly and very sweet to my four year old, they have chalk for drawing on their wall which was nice. My son had a cinnamon roll and was very pleased with it. Hope to also try more of the menu next time. The sandwiches looked really good. And the avo toast! Decor and feel of this place is laid back beach/URI down the line vibe. Cools beans cafe used to be one of my favorite cafes for the acai bowls. Unfortunately, the customer service is so bad I will not be returning. The last two times I went, I ordered two acai bowls and only got one. I then had to let them know we only got one and it took twenty minutes to bring it out even when we were the only people there. It took us an hour to get two acai bowls with no one in front of us. Along with that, they never answer the phone, and when they do, the workers are not friendly with you. Acai bowls are great, but customer service, not so great. read more

Very cute cafe - they serve everything from coffee drinks and pastries to wine and panini, all in a cozy environment about a block from the ocean. Their peanut butter cup cookie and iced green tea are delicious and perfectly portioned, and they have a case of cold, prepared drinks to go. So why three stars? The music. THE MUSIC. I've never been so berated and irritated so constantly in such a short amount of time. Usually when I think of a work-friendly coffee shop with free wifi and cookies, I think mellow, cozy and chill. I think their music selection was as grating on my nerves as a coffee grinder is with beans - loud, constant and jarring. If you're popping in for items to take away with you, you'll be all set. Otherwise, bring ear phones or prepare for a Minaj-athon peppered with Fall Out Boy and bad hip hop. read more

Cool Beans cafe has everything I want in a coffee shop, except one thing. They have soft chairs to lounge in, great pastries, PYT's behind the counter that know how to make a great cappuccino, freshly baked muffins that are everything you could ask for. Outside there is a small strip of tables where conversations seem easy to strike up, if you want to. Then of course there's the ocean just a couple hundred yards away. This is my go-to place after I go for a morning run on the beach. Oops, my secret's out! Since I very seldom carry my laptop when I go for a run, I don't know if they have wifi, but I'm pretty sure they do. Oh, the one thing? For the ultimate in a coffee house, I want a place that roasts beans so that the coffee is same-day fresh, but it's probably unfair of me to deduct a whole star for that. Cool Beans is awesome. I go there from time to time for their açaí bowls which they make fresh when you order them. They also have smoothies which I recently tried! So delicious. They are definitely a healthy cafe. I've been wanting to try their avocado toast but I haven't gotten the chance to yet. They definitely have a trendy set up & a very nice menu to select from. I wish they had a Cool Beans in Northern Rhode Island (since I'm from Cumberland). However, having Cool Beans right next to the beach makes for an awesome spot during the summer with the view of the water. Great atmosphere overall. It's a great place to study as well! read more

The bowls and coffee were great, when we finally got them. The service was awful. It was busy, but they forgot our order TWICE. After half an hour we noticed people that came in 10 mins after us getting their orders, we asked about ours. It was very clear that they forgot our order and skipped right over us. They finally brought one of our two bowls over, and forgot about the other one. We asked them about it, they said it would be right out. After watching 6 more people get their orders before us, we had to approach the staff again. It took almost an hour to receive our orders, when the entire cafe and at least 15 people behind us had already gotten their food and left. No apologies or explanation for the hold up. What an awesome surprise while driving around Narragansett... I had a hankering for an iced something and DD was not going to cut it. We drove past Cool Beans and decided to stop in. From the outside it looks like a coffee shop in a strip mall... However, once you enter you are in a pretty awesome laid back coffee house. The line was long but moved pretty quickly. As we waited we watched acai bowl after acai bowl be made. These things looked pretty damn delicious. They were HUGE, full of granola and fresh berries. Next time, this is definitely on my list of things to try. We kept it simple since we had just eaten lunch and opted for two small Iced Chais. They were DELICIOUS! Probably the best Chai I have ever had. Mine was the spiced chai and my partner got the vanilla one. I really enjoyed mine and would get the spiced one again. I didn't hear any complaints from his either so I think their chai game is on point! The vibe is laid back, the music is upbeat and mellow at the same time and they have some pretty darn delicious food options as well. Make it a point to stop by here, it won't dissapoint! read more

Gluten free folk: they do offer gluten free options but for unlisted prices and they are just store-bought frozen and thrown in a microwave. The muffins are a third of the size of the regular muffins they sell which is misleading and they taste bland and freezer burned. Just skip it. I've lived in the South County area for years and finally checked out Cool Beans. It's in a fabulous location by the Narragansett Pier and Towers. Don't let the small parking lot deter you- there are plenty of street spots as well! It has a great vibe and decor inside, with comfy couches and pretty woodwork. I tried the Açaí bowl, which people raves about. While it's a little pricy, it is really artistic and also healthy! Coffee was also great, too! I purchased the açaí bowl and a large iced mocha. The mocha came out 10 minutes after I ordered, then my friend that I went with received her açaí bowl. I waited an additional 20 minutes for my bowl on top of the 10 minutes I waited for my coffee. By the time mine came out, my friend had already finished hers.
