Starved for a burger - we stopped at Cool Cat Cafe with no regrets. Fantastic joint with live music and great vibes. We happened to stop in with a car show in the parking lot and got a few fun vintage pics along with the fun atmosphere, delicious eats and outstanding service. Parking is easy!

First time checking out this place with my cousin. Reminded me of a 50s diner. The place looks fun and welcoming! We decided to place a to go order so other family members can enjoy the food too. We ordered 2 milkshakes, a burger, chicken sandwich, chili burger, the fixings of fries and onion rings , a taro burger with rye bread (that was mine and it was delicious!!) I savored it and saved half of it to eat later.Well...it was gone by the time I went to eat the rest of it! My hubby said that it was a good burger ! He thought it was an impossible burger. Nope! An amazing sandwich made out of taro!! I would definitely order that again! It's huge, flavorful and filling I LOVE rye bread and the way they created a patty from taro!! Genius! Anyway, my cousin gave me a bite of the chicken sandwich with bacon and ohhhh it was good too! The fries and onion rings were a great addition to the sandwich! Oh and their milkshakes are devine!! Thank you!

My best friend's daughter and I decided to try out their Happy Hour between 3-5 pm and it was a definite hit. She got 2 Duke sliders which had bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce and I got 2 Ono fish sliders with yummy lilikoi beer battered ono, cabbage and tartar sauce. We also shared Frings (1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings). Don't forget to add their delicious ranch and bbq sauce! A great affordable Happy Hour spot if you're craving yummy sliders! Our waiter was fun and he checked in to make sure everything was good. We will be back!

IMHO In all the years I've been going to Maui, I've never dined at Cool Cat Cafe until this trip. Formally it was on Front St. in Lahaina but has now re-opened in Kihei. We had more incentive to go this year because we had a coupon which offered a free root beer float with our entree. I LOVE ROOT BEER FLOATS!!! Cool Cat Cafe looks like a 50's diner, very whimsical and fun. My husband and I shared the 3-piece Fish & Chips, $25. He ordered a Big Wave Golden Ale beer, $11 and I was waiting for my free root beer float! By the time we had finished our meal, we asked our friendly server Devon if we could just take the root beer float, to-go. No problem! This is a very popular place, for good reason.

Excellent! Burgers were cooked perfectly, service was great, and it's a neat place. The reason we went is because they have GF buns and fries, and they didn't disappoint.

Tourist Trap Hipster Cafe serving food not fit for the homeless! Ok, I was in Kihei and the woman needed some food. Of coarse she insisted we go here, LOL ! The building must be cursed cause it's been multiple restaurants over the years. But back to my experience of Cool Cat Cafe. So we came in for a late dinner and I grabbed a hot dog & onions rings which was ok. The woman had something but I was so annoyed I was dining at this place I didn't catch her food order. What I did catch was watching her hurl chunks after she ate the food 20 minutes after we left... Nothing worse than feeling THE WRATH of a sick woman, but that was what happened. So needless to say I'll never step foot into this place again...

What a fun place! Angela from Blue Water Rafting Adventures encouraged us to stop in! This place was a treat and we will return here when we come back to Maui! Rootbeer float and a burger! Great environment! Lots of space and good service!

Love being able to go to Lahaina businesses in their new spots! Finally made it to Cool Cat Cafe in Kihei. Had the fish tacos, blackened and side salad. Both were great and the service was quick and friendly! They have a small arcade in the back and a bar in the middle. Fun spot to go on your own, with a group and good for families. The restroom was spotless which makes me love it even more! Only wish they were closer but we do have Captain Jack's.

Where do I even start? My best friend Sean just reopened Cool Cat Cafe in Kihei, and it's been absolutely amazing. The new location at Kukui Mall has plenty of parking--spots are a bit snug, but there are tons to choose from. Inside, the air conditioning is a lifesaver from the Kihei heat, and I've never waited more than two minutes for a table, even when it's busy. Plus, you can order online or at the kiosk right when you walk in, which is super convenient. Now, about the food... it's still the same Cool Cat we all know and love. Everything is delicious. Their milkshakes are hands down the best in town, with tons of flavors to pick from--but I'm partial to the classic strawberry. The burgers are always fresh, never frozen, and perfectly put together with just the right amount of lettuce, onions, mayo, mustard, etc. Their ingredients are ALWAYS fresh and perfection every time. Sean doesn't joke around with quality and pops in frequently to make sure of it. The fries and onion rings are always hot and crispy--never soggy. The onion ring batter is perfect--golden, crunchy, and absolutely heavenly with their homemade ranch. Speaking of sauces, the ranch and BBQ sauce are so good I was putting them on everything for a while. They've also added a few special items from their sister restaurant, Captain Jack's, like the fish tacos and the Philly cheesesteak--which is honestly the best I've ever had. Overall, this is hands down my favorite restaurant in Kihei. We love the staff, the food, and the new location, and we're so glad to have Cool Cat Cafe back. I'm counting down the days until the new express location opens at Whaler's Village--I can't wait to finally get some good food on the Westside again!

This place was awesome. The food was really good. American diner style food but not cheap like Johnny Rockets. The waitress we had was a super pretty and kind and charismatic blond girl. You gotta love someone who rocks at their job. I got the thanks giving turkey burger and some type of banana chocolate malt shake and OH MY GOD WAS IT GOOD! Ambience was fun. Old Timey vibes. Arcade machines. Good AC.

We brought a friend to Cool Cat to show her Maui's top rated burger joint. We were immediately offered a round booth in the main dining room. Rachel arrived quickly with menus and water. She was very nice and answered all of our questions with a smile that was most charming. After careful consideration, I ordered the Sh-Boom, a very unusual burger. The ladies each wanted fish & chips and we ordered a basket of onion rings to share. We only had a little time to talk story before the food arrived. The onion rings were a little over-done one side. We're they cooked on a sheet? In an air fryer? It didn't affect the fact that they were delicious and perfectly crispy. We had bbq & ranch dipping sauces. Good choice. My Sh-Boom was an open face burger, cooked medium, on grilled sour dough bread. It was completely covered with chili (with beans), 4 kinds of cheese (looked like cheddar and Jack to me) and diced Maui onion. The burger was perfectly cooked and the chili was plenty spicy (as advertised). I was very satisfied. I sampled the fish, too. It was excellent. The breading, texture and flavor were spot on. It came with a little dab of cole slaw what had a nice hint of orange flavor. Rachel dropped by a few times to check on us and chat a bit, too. Great food and great service!

We came to Cool Cat Café after a recommendation from the locals, and they did not disappoint. The whole aesthetic is super cool retro diner vibes with a Maui twist. Our server, a really chill guy from Pennsylvania, was super attentive and made the experience even better. We ordered a chili cheese dog, the steak and ribs plate, and my a hamburger. Everything came out hot, quick, and delicious. We also ordered two Mai Tais, and let me tell you...the drinks were on point. Perfect ratio of alcohol to the syrups tasty and smooth. What really stood out was the atmosphere. As we sat at our table, we saw so many locals walking in, greeting the staff with hugs, and chatting like family. You can tell everyone knows each other, and it gives the place such a warm, welcoming feel. Our drinks were always refilled without even having to ask, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. I totally recommend coming here. Next time we're in Maui, Cool Cat Café is definitely going back on our list. Let's do it again!

    Yes and then some!

I really like that I can select from the old world German Artisan collection and the Hawaiian Artisan baked goods. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly, and the portions were generous. Service was friendly and welcoming, making it an easy, relaxed stop whether you're dining in or grabbing something to go. If you're in Kihei and looking for a dependable breakfast spot without the tourist chaos, Kalia Cafe is definitely worth checking out. Would happily come back!

I was already doing the math and thinking , "Eh, we might be here awhile." But nah, good timing. People were finishing up, bussing tables, and bam, maybe 20-30 minutes tops. Not bad at all. While we was waiting, they come out with waffle samples for everyone in line. I mean... who does that? That's how you keep people from getting all hangry. Instant good vibes, the whole line outside was just smiling and waiting patiently. Finally get seated and both the hostess and waitress were super nice--real friendly, no rush, no attitude. In the front they had mushroom soup on the specials board, so we figured we go sample um. I had them bring a cup of soup out to start along with my wife's coffee. Gotta be honest--when I dipped my spoon in, I was already judging. Looked kinda thin, not creamy like other mushroom soups I've had. I was thinking, "Ahh here we go." Took one spoonful and immediately had to humble myself. That soup was money. Like, stop-talking-and-just-eat. My wife tried it and confirmed that this soup was "winnahs" . Deep mushroom flavor with the right amount of seasoning. It also came with a little piece of focaccia toast which I would have really enjoyed but had to take my wife's word for it since she ate um all . Should've ordered the bowl. Rookie mistake. For my main, I went with the original eggs Benedict. Portions were a little on the small side, but with the roasted potatoes, I was good. Didn't leave hungry, didn't need to loosen the belt--perfect middle ground. My wife got the strawberry waffles and yeah... those were legit. She's not a syrup person, so she asked for more whipped cream. The waitress comes back with a little mountain of whipped cream in the little silver ramekin. All in all, solid spot. Friendly people, ono food, and little touches that make you feel taken care of. We will be heading to Cafe Kaila again to try some other stuff like the "chicken and waffles", and next time, I'm not playing around with the soup. Bowl, Garans.

6.22.26 UPDATE We…read moreoriginally had a disappointing experience due to slow service, limited attention from staff, and the lack of air conditioning during our visit. However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.
