Tried this place a few weeks ago and gave their hamburger steak another try. It was super bland and the mac salad was a disappointment again. I got super sick after eating it. Im glad i didnt share it with anyone. The owner was not very nice either. He must've been having a bad day im not sure but he was rushing me to make up my mind because i was temped to try maybe one of their seafood places. He was kind of pushy. It was so weird. After all these years and I have yet to post a review. A staple in Wailuku that offers your typical local kine grinds from a husband and wife duo. I do enjoy their hamburger mix but love it best in a burger with fries rather than a plate lunch because personally I can honestly say I'm a brown gravy snob. Their mac salad isn't my fave but nothing some tabasco can't fix. They currently don't use the old school crinkle fries but the thicker steak fry style is just as ono. Don't forget your mayo mustard and ketchup! Small casual spot where you can dine in or take out. They're pretty good about answering the phone if you call in your order with a quick turnaround time and note there is a minimum $15 to pay with card. read more

Nice small family restaurant with a few seats to dine-in. We decided to do take-out option. Ordered a combo of the hamburger steak and chicken katsu cutlet, along with the hamburger steak and pork chop combo. The wife took our order and was super friendly/ welcoming. Food took about 20 minutes. As we left with our take out, the owners thanked us for ordering, which really made us appreciate this small gesture and business. Everything was delicious and we cleaned our plates. Gravy was well seasoned and hamburger patties were cooked perfectly (not under or overcooked). The amount given was perfect for the price. I can see why people enjoy their food. My only criticism would be the mac salad needed a little more mayonnaise (just my preference), but other than that we really enjoyed the food and service. Portion size is lame. My small 15 pound dog could eat this whole plate and still not be full. One piece of chicken and one small piece of beef teriyaki. Never going here again. $20 for this plate. Next time sticking to Kalei's Lunchbox. At least you actually get what you pay for. read more

Service was great. Ambiance was very casual there is dine in option but it is a little tight in there if you do they also had nice Christian music playing. Food on the other hand had things I liked and some I didn't like. Ordered the BBQ Chicken and Kalbi plate came with 2 scoops of rice 1 scoop of Mac salad 3 pieces of bbq chicken and 1 strip of kalbi for $20.85 little on the expensive side the Mac salad had a lot of pepper so it didn't taste so good for me the Kalbi was good the bbq chicken was a little over cooked also ordered the cheeseburger deluxe which as $8.85 but we'll worth the price it was delicious ordered fries too and they were super soggy with no salt. read more

Hmmmmm. Went here tonight and guess what I got the hamburger steak because I was hungry for that. Did a take out order and he said 15 minutes okay no problem. When I got there it was ready. 20 bucks and some change for 2 plates. Plus 2 dollah tip. We went to the park and when I opened it up it looked okay but the gravy was every where I don't like the mac salad soaked in gravy. So I was ready to dig in. This is where it goes wrong. The Millyard Hamburger Steak House is another place I hadn't been to in over a decade, probably close to 15-20 years. When I worked in the area when I first graduated from college, I used to eat here now and then. We decided to try it out since it had been such a long time. We ordered take out and I got the meat jun/mandoo combo. The meat jun was good, with soft and tender meat, although I think I prefer Pearl's version. The mandoo was also tasty, deep fried so it was crunchy. My wife got the hamburger steak and she enjoyed it, nice and tender, and slightly charred, which gave it a good flavor. The gravy was light, with a thin consistency. Like other, we both thought the mac salad was too peppery. My parents also got the Kalbi & BBQ Chicken combo and they liked it. Had the chance to check out Millyard Hamburger Steakhouse during my lunch break! A friend of mine told me about this place a while back ago and I thought I'd try it out myself. Upon arriving, there was a line out the door. Majority of the orders were take-out and there was only one man running the operation. (He was cooking and taking orders). I had some time to spare so I didn't mind waiting in line to see what the hype is about. Of course, I had to order their Hamburger Steak Plate since it is called Millyard Hamburger Steak House LOL. That being said I ordered two Hamburger Steak Plates with rice and macaroni salad. One for me and one for my dad. I'm a huge macaroni salad fan, so I ordered extra just in case. Waited about 20 minutes. Overall, I really liked their hamburger steak plate. It was made fresh to order and their gravy was pretty good. The only thing is that their macaroni salad was topped with A LOT of pepper... Hashtag pepper overload. Not something I usually have on my Mac salad but it was different and balanced with the hamburger steak. I'll definitely come back and try their other menu items. It looked like they had Meat Jun, Teriyaki Chicken, and other local options! Definitely go and check them out. ATMOSPHERE: The simple, small eatery is located at the entrance of the Millyard industrial park in a small strip mall. There are only two 4-seat tables inside and a take-out counter. I'd guesstimate 99% of the business is take-out. MENU: Hawaiian local, Korean dishes, seafood, chow fun, burgers, saimin, and soups. FOOD: Loco Moco - This is oddly only 5-cents more than the Hamburger Steak plate. It's a big portion for $9.55. The 2 big homemade patties were moist with a great charred flavor and texture, and covered in a medium-dark brown gravy that could've used a pinch more of salt, and topped with a fried egg with a delicious medium yolk. The steamed rice was good. The mac salad was overcooked, under-flavored and peppery. SERVICE: The owner is a nice guy, very friendly and personable. Hamburger Steak House?! It's been a while since I've been here, mainly because of the last experience where my wife and I both got a bad case of the runs from the Hamburger Steak. Fast Forward to now... My friend and I decided to get a "quick" bite to eat as we tried to finish up some rush jobs at work, so we stopped here since it didn't seem busy at all. When you walk in, the menu is posted on the wall, to the right as you face the cashier. I decided on the Hamburger Steak (yes, risking my health again!) and Chicken Cutlet combo. $11.99 for this plate. It seems like there was only one guy working the kitchen, but there was only one other person waiting, so it didn't seem that bad. Or so I thought! Keep in mind, when you're at work and you have a lunch break, these lunch breaks range in time from half an hour up to an hour, depending on where you work. Ours is 45 minutes. From placing the order until our order was complete, we waited about 20 minutes. Pretty long, but satisfying if the food is good. It was not! Again, it's been a while since I've been here, but I don't remember the Hamburger Steak (their staple dish and what they're known for) being so small and lacking taste as this one did. And the Chicken cutlet? Once piece of thigh, covered in brown gravy -- also tasteless and unsatisfying. Definitely not worth the $11.99. They should actually serve them on smaller plates to make the portions seem larger! The inside of this place is small as well, with four 4-seat tables inside and a self-help cold water dispenser against the far wall. I like that concept, since I tend to drink a lot of water during my meals. Based on this and the previous visits, I can honestly say I can (and will) scratch this place off my places to patronize. Had the food been good (I can deal with the wait), I would have reconsidered and gone back again (and again), but the food was not even mediocre. Best hamburger steak on Maui!! Owner is so nice and he works hard for every costumer, place is always clean. He makes the crispiest fried chicken and katsu. Anything on the menu is good home cooked food. Only thing on the down side is the mac salad has too much pepper it's not traditional mac salad. I also love that there are mini plate lunches. A little hole in the wall, hard to find, and well worth it. A lot of their menu is Korean/local food. The reason to eat here though is the hamburger. The only one. Get a plain cheeseburger. Meat and cheese only. No veggies. No sauces. No worries. If you feel like having a plate lunch, go with the hamburger steak. Don't waste your time with a mini. Too much $ and you will be pissed you didn't have another patty of goodness . The rice is white and the mac salad is yummy. Add the gravy and you have magic. Go Loco Moco with a couple of eggs on top. What makes this hamburger so special? I asked the owner and in his broken engrish he said...hard work. Thanks. The meat is super flavorful, super tender, has a great sear/crust...it is just awsome. Over the years, I have tried other things too. The chow fun is very unique and unlike any other you will try on island. The korean chicken is nice and spicy. I still always come back for the hamburger. Be patient. Which is saying a lot because being 9 months pregnant and counting, the only thing that I've consistently craved is hamburgers. We spent a bit of time talking story with the owner/chef and his wife. It's a small diner with 4 tables with seating for 4 each. Many people get their foods for take out during lunch time. I'm not sure if they're open for dinner. Especially as the owners were due to expect their first born back in October 2012. Rumored (and likely true) to have had many a restaurant chef on island request their hamburger recipe - there is no way to describe it but UMAMI! There is something unique about how a Korean seasoned hamburger patty is flavored. Of course we asked for the recipe ourselves but were met with a little chuckle from the owner. Yep, is a couple of huge hand formed burger steaks covered in a brown gravy with two scoops of rice and mac salad. Don't bother with the other things, others in our party ordered them and weren't so happy, unlike me. The wife could so with some customer service lessons, but the husband/cook makes up for it.
