We've been there about three times in the last few months and have always had good service. One time that stands out, is when Rick was our server. He was very attentive and usually had something funny to say. He always checked on us, offered refills and asked if everything was alright. We went back a few weeks later and also had good service from a different server (can't remember his name). We ran into Rick and he was his usual funny self and I appreciated that he enjoyed his job and wasn't just putting on an act to bump up his tip. Also, the steak special was awesome, and the restrooms were nice and clean. To conclude, Rick thanked me for my military service and I received a discount. Haven't been here in forever but heard about they're dinner specials and it's a really good deal! For around $12 you can get a steak and side of your choice which also comes with beans and bread. You can also choose chicken, shrimp, etc. For HH apps, we ordered bacon wrapped jalapeños and shrimp. They were good, small portion not sure if it was bc it's happy hour or if that's the normal portion size. We ordered an additional side of Mac n cheese for only $2 and the serving was huge (no complaints) and it was sooo good!! My bf ordered the asparagus which was a premium side and it was about $4 to get that added. There were only about 5 so I don't think that premium side was worth it. I went with green beans as my side and thought they were good!! I opted to order the house margarita on happy hour ($6.50). I asked the server if they could make it spicy and they said that wasn't part of the happy hour?? That's about my only complaint. I just needed a few jalopenos thrown in there or a Tajin rim. I'm not too sure where to start with this one. Let's start from the beginning, the hostess's were very nice and friendly. We had about a 20 minute wait to be seated and they gave my daughter a menu and crayons to color on while we waited. Upon being seated our waitress walked by saying she would right with us. This happened several times before we finally placed drink orders. Then it got to the point I thought we were forgotten before drinks came. As soon as she came with drinks she was off to tend to a 9 person party she was also serving. I don't need to be tended too every 5 minutes but I hate feeling ignored or not a priority because we are a party of 3. I heard a table next to us that had something comped from a long wait but not sure one the whole story there just that they had the same server. We never were offered drink refills, it's a big drink but still. When I got the check I was ready with my card as I wasn't interested in waiting for our server to decide to come back to us after 10 minutes again. As she set it down and said to pay when ready I was in the middle of say "here you go I have my card ready" she was already turning around to walk away. I could go on but the point is that this server was interested in where she thought the big tip was coming from. The food was alright. The rolls and beans were fantastic and the soup and salad were good as well. I had the cool hand combo with steak and ribs with garlic red mashers. Not bad just ok, the steak was a little under the medium rare I ordered so it was chewy, ribs were tender but mushy and the potatoes were cool and crusty, obviously sitting on the hot plate a bit too long. My wife's tri-tip was very tender. Her shrimp was blah, that's hard to do with shrimp, just tiny and bland. I'm not one to take menu pics when they are already on Yelp but the prices on those pictures are not current prices. Prices are higher by $8-11 and their website conveniently doesn't have prices listed. That was a fun surprise seeing the menu! All in all I may return during some of their cheaper dinner promo times but that's about it. read more

I hate giving you guys a two star because the food is good, it's your service that deserves a one... but I didn't want to be horrible. Who ever is answering phones need to be trained on at least what's going on and what's on the menu. It started with being put on hold (5 min) and no one returning until I called back. I thought okay they're busy. Call back... It's Sunday... prime rib special... the girl answers sounds annoyed I'm putting in a pick up order. Put on hold for a sec and then returned. I order the special... put me on hold to ask if there was a special... came back... placed the order ready in 20 min. Okay. Cool I get there... 30 min later, food not ready. Not busy at all. You have 3 girl employee standing around complaining they wish they were home. Had to ask them to check on my order. When they came back they said they were waiting on the bread. So you guys bake it fresh? Waited an additional 10 min for my bread. Prime rib just sitting. No other orders coming out, so they weren't busy. A couple even came in and the girl was like...we close at nine but I guess you sit at the bar. Annoyed. Get my food... No napkins or No fork, spoon or knife. I ordered a prime rib... I kind of need those things to enjoy my food. What if I was on my work lunch? My food was good... I did however get a wrong item but it was still good. Anyways your service is lacking. Steak Fries 3/5 tasted ok nothing special Buffalo Wings 2/5 tasted horrible because you can tell it wasn't homemade it was probably from a frozen batch Potatoes Skin 1/5 so horrible took one bite and that's it 2 Chicken Street Tacos 2/5 the chicken was hard and the rest was dry Luke's Western Ribeye 3/5 looks good but it was kinda chewy Bone in Ribeye 2/5 it look no where like the picture it was a low quality bone in ribeye Arnold Palmer 2/5 watered down drink Service 3/5 service was ok nothing special I was craving steak and a couple of things too so I decided to give Cool Hand Luke Clovis a try. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, the baked potato was filled to the brim with sour cream, cheese, chive, and bacon bits, and the shrimp was fresh and crunchy! Been here twice now and I'm going to agree with most people here and say the food is inconsistent. On my first visit, my steak was cooked to perfection. I like it well-done, but NOT DRY. Somehow I think when the cook hears that, they automatically think this is an opportunity to take their 15 min break after dropping the steak on the grill. Well, the first time my rib eye was cooked to perfection.: no blood, but juicy. This time, my steak is a different story. The standard issue "Luke's Western Rib Eye" is smothered with mushrooms but I dont dig fungus. I just asked them to cook it medium-well and make it like the "Whiskey Peppercorn Sirloin" style. It came out kinda charred and not an ounce of moisture. When you bite into it, it was like dessicant--immediately wicks any moisture out of your mouth. Thank God their beverages are served in a big Ball jar. Still, I had to ask for refills since it immediately robbed my body of all digestive juices. For my selection of side, I chose "Fancy Greenbean". Not sure what was fancy about it though. It wasn't spectacular. Service was very good. We asked for a booth and they were able to accomodate us after a small wait. I couldn't help but notice that we were the only non-caucasian species in here. The western decor made me feel like I was playing Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon and everyone was Owen Wilson. If you order your steak medium-well, you'll be saying more "wataaaaaaaaaaah" like me! Came to dinner here for my wife's birthday. The waitress was very nice and the drink glasses were large which was a nice touch. Then it all went down hill. The prices for steak or fish are very high so I figured it would be a very good Ribeye so I went with the 14oz for $38 thinking it's gotta be good. I ordered it medium rare and then it came out looking like it was cooked over an open flame for 2 hours and probably weighed 4 ounces. I told the very nice waitress that I don't normally complain but for that price I had to bring up how over cooked my medium rare stake was. She was very apologetic and had another one made for me. It came out a proper size and I was excited to cut into it but then found it so raw that the cook might as well had walked and spit in my face and said this is what you get for complaining. The last several months the Ribeye steaks have been so tough we couldn't eat them, the waitress said they've been getting their meat somewhere different, obvious cheaper, we decided to give them another chance tonight, ordered the 18oz outlaw Ribeye, it was so tough and so much gristle we couldn't get a knife through it, the price went up to $42. Went here twice during my week work trip. I enjoyed both times. Food was good, drinks were great, service on point. We had a Moscow mule, some blue drink, the ahi appetizer, bacon wrapped jalapeños, and the prime rib dip. Loooooooves the dip . I enjoyed the jalapeños but husband thought they needed more flavor. We came post covid opening. All the staff was wearing some sort of face covering and it looks like the removed some bar tables and no one sitting at the bar. We sat in the bar area both times. Disclaimer: I am young and have lived in La, SF, and SD, so I am quite a food snob and have very particular taste. My fiance's grandfather loves this place and the portions are huge, but I am not a fan. It's typical diner type food with very little taste. My fiance loves the baked beans with tri tip, which are good, but not go-out-of-your-way to come here and eat them. Last time I came here I got the shrimp platter which was okay but again, not super flavorful or special. The previous time I think I got a cut of meat which I did not enjoy that much. I think they are taking advantage of the poor consumer during this crisis. They advertised a rack of ribs with beans for $14.99. Then I could only find a full rack of ribs, with a $6 surcharge. The ribs were just ok, compared to most bbq rib places. To top it off, the portion of beans was so small, and even smaller was the rice pilaf. I was very happy with yesterday service at Cool Hand Lukes. Sunday is all day happy hour so we decided to sit in the bar area. Our server/bartender Brandee did an amazing job. I believe Lukes is has been under new management for a close to a year now so the menu has changed and some of the old drinks are not longer on the menu. But Brandee was able to recreate the drink I wanted. She was very sweet. We only did appitezers but they were delicious. The mushrooms are really good when they are hot, they get a little less amazing when they get cold only because they are deep-fried so the batter isn't as good cold. The street taco's for happy hour only come with 2 but dang whatever the sauce they put on it was great. We also did the wings (comes with 4) and the potato skins (also came with 4), plus the cowboy cookie. Can't complain! They have free wifi, you do have to provide your email but then you receive a free onion blossom if you print the coupon. read more

Upon entering the hostess suggested we seat ourselves in the bar area rather than taking her time to seat us. First off, I love the complimentary unlimited bread and beans, and that they can box up fresh bread and beans to go, at no cost! Yay! Food is always good and fresh but this place isn't really baby friendly. There was no ramp for strollers at the entry, and they never offered us a high chair so my son stayed in his stroller. The waitress was very nice but forgot our waters but kept asking us if we wanted more beer. She also forgot my boyfriends side of Mac and cheese but we were still charged for it on the bill. However, once I mentioned this to her she was nice and took it off. On a positive note, the restrooms are always clean, and they play the new hit country songs if you like country music. First time trying this place out tonight and the last... Wish I would have taken pics of our food buy I didn't. Anyhow, we started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp and the jalapeño popper. The bacon wrapped shrimp were about the only good thing we ate... the poppers were wrapped in super thin sliced bacon and were very sad looking I had a blue cheese salad and didn't finish it it was not very good at all... for my meal I ordered the steak nugget things and had a few bights and asked for my check... so basically everything I tried was junk.
