My husband and I have just been on a long road trip, and this restaurant was the worst meal of the trip. The nachos were really good, but my husband had a terrible meal. Saturday at 6pm, shocked to see the restaurant was dead on graduation weekend. My husband and I saw an opportunity to sit in the saloon for happy hour menu, noticed the 3 booth seats were dirty so we waited at the entrance to ask for a table to be cleaned. Got passed several times by the waitress with no intent on talking to us or greeting us. I walked to the bar (only 3 other people sitting at the bar, the dishwasher and the bar tender fooling around) still didn't get greeted as a I patiently waited behind a bar stool to ask for a table to be cleaned. He then helped a customer get a second drink before acknowledging me. A group of elder customers felt bad for us and told us we didn't need to wait to be seated in which I replied that I knew but we wanted a clean booth seat. My husband and I turned around and walked to the lobby where I told the hostess, she was sweet sat us quickly in the main dining area, table was sticky & dusty. Okay pros will come first because they will be short. PROS: Server was nice. Weird, but nice. There was no wait time to be sat on a Friday at 5:30.......... Prime rib cap was good. The rest of the prime rib was trash. Okay pros are now over. Here are the CONS: Food is a bit pricey for the quality. I take that back. Food is far too expensive for the quality. Food is bad. Go to chilis or Red Robin. Same price yet quality of food is far superior to Cool Hand Luke's. Nachos are gross. Prime rib is bad. Chicken bad. Beer is bad. Service was extremely slow for the amount of people in the restaurant. I would say 50% of the tables were unoccupied... maybe more. I ordered a beer. An $8.50 beer. It was flat. I tried this place many years ago and it was awful. Side salad was watery, blooming onion lacked any flavor and they overcooked my steak. I'd never been back. Until.... my wife really wanted to go and I can't say no to her. Blooming onion still lacks any flavor and their dipping sauce is awful compared to other places that do blooming onions. My steak salad was terrible, most of the salad just big chunks of stem and not the leaf. The steak on it was little chard nuggets of burnt steak. My wife got the surf and turf and ordered the steak medium rare. The lobster was rubbery (it is the central valley and not the coast), but her steak was grossly overcooked. Server might have checked on us once basically in time for us to ask for the check. On the plus side, at least now my wife won't be asking to come back. read more

I tried 3 mixed cocktails trying to get one w alcohol in them ALL 3 were juice the 3 I drank were equivalent to 1 beer. I did tell server my martini tased like pure cranberry juice so I was gonna try the Lukes tea in hopes had alcohol in it. He did not care. Ive always liked this restautant for their great customer service and prompt service. We became invisible to the light, fair skinned customer. We waited patiently without saying a word until a waiterer noticed us an attempted to get our order. By then we were done waiting to being noticed. New Year's Eve dinner. First let's start with the good. Our server was excellent and handled the early rush pretty well. The Parmesan Artichoke appetizer came out quickly and was very good. I'm also a big fan of the baked beans and sourdough rolls that they bring to the table as a starter. I ordered their special, which was a surf and turf special consisting of a 5 oz petite filet and lobster tail. The side salad that preceded it was excellent. Now...here's where they lose points. The filet was over cooked and I'm certain that the lobster was a bit undercooked, and for $35 that is quite unacceptable. Too bad really because I would have given a much higher score otherwise I decided to update and change this review as they seem to have really improved on the areas that cost them points on my last review. Food- not $180 worth for 2 steaks & 3 missing sides... which service was originally through an app.. they were closing early.. had to get a reimbursement through the app.. THEN had to walk down to re-order in person & wait for my order only to have to argue the fact they STILL couldn't get my order right missing 3 sides. I had to make 3 phone calls to TRY to get my money back due to screwing up my order & never did. I just wanted the money back from the sides.. not to mention the extra time. Terrible. Having to explain SIMPLE customer service... you screw up- you make it better the next time. I did not want them cooking up those items the next day- unless there was another entree with them. I simply wanted my money back. They had proof. They knew what happened. Originally I was wanting it delivered/ willing to pay the money but that was shot. So- over 2 days worth- I feel like I gave them more than a 'fair shake' & was 10X more disappointed after respectfully & politely letting them know what should have been done being in customer service and kitchens for YEARS myself. I've been to 3 other Cool Hand Luke's and never have had any issues. This was a disaster from the start. Ordered the prime rib medium. The salad and bread came but just with a fork. Had to ask for a napkin. 30 minutes after the salad the bartender asked if I needed anything else. The prime rib would be nice. It finally showed up looking gray. Took one bite and realized it was cold. Asked the manager to touch it and she said she couldn't because of her hands. All this while she was holding dirty dishes in her other hand. Then asked for my bill where they took the prime rib off but still charged me for the upgraded asparagus. Had a delicious cowboy style dinner here on the way back from Fresno. Great ambiance, excellent service and good food. Try the two filet medallions and baked potato, both really good. The country atmosphere is incredible, including a bar with swinging doors, wagon hanging from the ceiling beyond the lobby, and old photos everywhere. We went on a Sunday evening around 8pm and had no wait time at all. Excellent beer selection with local craft beers and all the usuals. I'd love to hang in the saloon sometime without the family. The kids did enjoy this place as well, said they'd definitely come back if we visited again.
