This review is to let present and future customers know that I witnessed something that totally disgusted me. As I was waiting for my fundraiser meals to go in the waiting area I saw the waitresses going into the kitchen and put rolls in baskets with their dirty hands. They were also making salads for customers by touching the ingredients with their hands and putting everything on trays to take out to customers. I had no idea that this is how they prepare their pre meal items. I can't believe that they do not have kitchen staff to prepare these items in a more sanitary manner. Not impressed. I ordered the calamari. It was over cooked and tough to cut. My baked potatoe, was only just warm. I added butter, and it didn't melt. I called in an order for a family style take out dinner . I arrived to pick it up at the time it should have been ready and they told me they had not even prepared it yet because they couldn't get ahold of me by phone to confirm the order. I had just talked to them on the phone . Then when I did get our food we had ordered for 10 to 12 people we received the same amount of food that we had received on a previous order that served 5 or 6 people. Happy hour - all day, every day! Their happy hour menu alone is worth the trip. Where else can you get appetizers starting at $3.99 anymore? The price is great and the food is tasty. They offer an early dinner menu with steak, burgers and chicken to choose from. Portions are smaller so you'll have room for the drink specials! Our family stopped in here for a nice dinner on our way back home to Sunny San Diego from a nice hot vacation in Las Vegas and Yosemite. We found this restaurant on our Yelp app, of course. We were looking for American classic dishes and we found them. We were seated almost right away. The restaurant seemed clean and had an awesome rustic cowboy theme. Our waitress was friendly and took our drink orders right away. Everything was perfect about our dinner experience. Our food was served hot and fresh. Mama bear had the tri tip and baked potato ( delish). Daddy bear had a full rack of ribs ( he rather enjoyed them and wasn't able to finish, very unusual). Baby boy bear had chicken strips and frys ( no complaints). Baby girl bear and had a delicious cobb salad. Again, no complaints. We headed over here and knew we made the right decision. We were immediately greeted and seated. The aura itself in this place is great. It's so calm and dim, definitely something I was digging. I ordered iced tea and loved it. And no, iced tea is not the same everywhere. The beans were ok, my mom couldn't get enough of them lol. I felt they lacked something. I've eaten at other Cool Hand Luke's. Took a friend and wanted a nice place to catch up and have a great meal. No one was manning the front desk. We had to wait 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. A homeless man with no shoes wandered in and was panhandling us waiting for a table. I stopped the lady who appeared to be in charge. At first she didn't seem to want to deal with him but then she quickly got him outside. I was told 10 minute wait when she did finally acknowledge us. It was more like 30. They seated us in the back of restaurant near a large party celebrating a birthday. Rolls and beans were brought out. I asked for plates. She said I'll be right back. Took our order and never came back. A guy brought out appetizer. We had to again ask for plates. We waited and waited. He ordered salad. I ordered soup. After a very long wait our main course arrived. It was luke warm. Immediately followed was our soup and salad. Which neither of us ate. Very, very disappointed. Oh and I had to hunt someone down to get refills on our water. Our bill was almost $100.00. I've had better service at Sizzler. I would not recommend this location. read more

We needed some time to look over the menu and had to flag down our waitress to order after about 15 minutes since she never came back out. We had three elderly people have to leave our party before the food even came out, because it was so hot in there. When she dropped off our drinks she went ahead and took out food order. Then a few minutes later dropped off beans and bread and that was the last we saw her...literally! Someone else brought our food and dropped it off and then we were on our own, No one was even seated in the same area as us anymore (they had all left) and no one came to check on us to see if the food was ok (which our green beans were cold when they came out). No drink refills or anymore orders from the bar and once we were done eating and wanted to leave we sat there for 15 minutes waiting for someone (anyone) to ask for to go containers and our bill, no one ever came. My husband had to finally get up and go look for someone and ask for containers and our bill, luckily we paid in cash because once she dropped off the containers and bill we didn't see her again. Never did see our waitress again the girl who gave us containers and check wasn't the same girl. The food was good other than cold green beans and portion size was larger than what we got at the Clovis location. The reason for our visit to this place was because we were from out of town and staying at the hotel next door so we decided to try this place out for dinner. The service was good and the portions were decent for the price. The rolls and the butter were probably one of the highlights. My mom ordered the half chicken for dinner and it was disgusting, only half of the chicken had been cooked, the other half was still bloody and raw. Luckily my mom did not get sick but i would recommend that everyone check their food before even eating it. The staff were very quick to respond and take her food away and comp us for that meal but the overall fact that it was even served is disgusting, someone in the kitchen definitely messed that one up.
