I can't begin to tell you about how amazing this place is ! My young daughters used Mini had some over heating issues . We towed car to mechanic who had fixed car in the past . He claimed that he works on Minis though I never saw one in his shop . He had the car 4 days with no diagnosis or call back . I finally called and he just said it's the water pump and heater hose . I asked for quote and he went on about how expensive repairs on minis are . He called me back and quoted me an outrageous amount . Close to 900$ ! I called a popular well known Mini Cooper dealer and they suggested I call Ben at Mini Cooper Experts . I was skeptical thinking it would be super expensive at this specialty shop . I called them and spoke to Kathy about my ordeal and bad experience with other mechanic . She was so sympathetic and caring. She immediately made me feel like this was the place to go . I had our Mini towed there right before closing and had a diagnosis early the next morning ! Ben was so professional and honest , I couldn't believe when he said it wasn't even the water pump . I had told them it was so he could've easily charged me for it and I would've never known . The repair ended up being less than half the price and done the same day . My '09 Clubman has about 140k on the clock, and until recently I've been fortunate, it hasn't required anything more than routine service. A few weeks ago though, I had a serious fright. I was driving on the freeway, hours away from home when I started to notice the engine missing every now and then. When I exited the freeway close to my destination it was clear there was a problem. The engine stalled at the bottom of the off-ramp, and wouldn't hold an idle after that. Soon the check engine warning illuminated. There was no dealer for more than a hundred miles, so I sought out a privateer with expertise in Minis. I took the car to the one in the town I was in that most prominently advertised; a good sized, local, family owned shop that claimed to work on all kinds of European cars. Their website noted they had plenty of experience with Minis. The shop looked clean, well maintained, and well appointed. I left the car with them for diagnosis, and got the answer more than 24 hours later. The catalytic converter was shot they told me, and it was going to cost $4,027 to replace it. I was shocked! I don't have an extra four grand, and the car was running just fine only the day before. I queried the mechanic every way I could think of, encouraging him to suggest any possible alternative cause, or less expensive solution. He had nothing to offer. He also warned ominously that other problems might be revealed once the catalytic converter had been replaced. I phoned four different shops in the LA area, including Mini Cooper Experts. All of them told me they couldn't be certain of the problem without seeing the car, and encouraged me to bring it in. But Ben from Mini Cooper Experts was happy to take his time on the phone to ask about the history of my car, how it's most commonly driven, and explain to me why he was skeptical about the course of action recommended by the shop I had taken it to. I decided to pull my car from where it was and possibly have it towed to one of the shops in LA. I paid them the $115 fee for their diagnostic services, and started the car. As I exited their parking lot I noticed it was running much better than when I brought it in two days earlier. Within the first block, the check engine light went off, and stayed dark. I phoned Ben at Mini Cooper Experts to ask his opinion, and he was again very generous with his time, talking me through the possible consequences of driving the car that far. I felt confident that if I could just get the car there, I had found someone who possessed both thorough knowledge of Minis, and the kind of integrity we're all looking for in a mechanic. I decided to chance the drive, knowing that if worse came to worse, and the check engine light came on again, I'd just have to stop and deal with a tow from that point on. The car ran normally the whole 200 miles. I easily found Mini Cooper Experts, and noticed it was a small shop, but very clean and organized looking. They put the car on a lift, and showed me to the office, where I was able to use their Wi-Fi to get some work done while they examined my car. After about an hour Ben asked me to come out, and take a look at what they'd found. While the car was up on the lift he showed me the exhaust system and explained the purpose of the catalytic converter, the 02 sensor, and the mass airflow sensor. He showed me the report on the diagnostic codes my car had generated earlier in the week, and the history that indicated that no further codes had been generated in the roughly 250 miles I had driven since then. Ben explained several possible causes for the event, but recommended I assume the best, and continue to operate the car without replacing anything, since it looked to him like the most likely explanation was an electrical malfunction of some sort that might, or might not return. While I was there he offered to have my car washed (it needed it badly.) He happily answered every question I could think of about my car while it was being washed, and showed me things the dealer never did, like how to display the specific types of service that would be needed when the mileage to service countdown display elapsed. He printed out two copies of the computer diagnostic report, keeping one for his files, and gave the other to me. Finally, he answered "Nothing," when I asked what I owed him, explaining there was really nothing wrong with my car! And he stuck to his guns when I pushed, trying to pay him something for his time. I was slack-jawed as I drove away. Here was a professional with the kind of deep expertise and integrity that used to be more common in decades gone by. A real treasure. I've driven about another thousand miles since then, and my car's continues to run perfectly. Mini Cooper Experts is about 35 miles from my home, but I'll be going there for service when my car is next due, in about another 1,500 miles. They've got a customer for life in me! read more

In just a few stops-by he's quickly become not just my mechanic but a true friend and a comrad in the fight against malfunctioning mini's, LOL...he really cares about his customers, their cars and most importantly their wallets. I went back to Mini Cooper Experts to have the brake fluid changed, and also to fix the driver's side window which had a 2mm gap between the window glass and weather strip, allowing wind noise to enter the vehicle. All these was done in less than two hours, with Ben guiding me throughout the process so I can understand the Mini better. I would definitely revisit this place in the future. read more

iI took my mini to mini worx and they didn't test drive or sit down with me and said I needed a new trans for 7000like and then kicked me out the door. I took my mini to ben and he drove it around and found out exactly what was wrong. It wasn't the trans at all he saved me thousands of dollars he is super honest and nice. This guy is amazing! Ben and his staff have serviced my Mini twice when all seemed lost. First they repaired the transmission that another shop said needed to be replaced with a new transmission to the tune of $12K! It didn't need a new tranny just the valve body which is known to be weak in my car. The so called other shop which specializes in BMWs and Minis was clueless about a known deflect at least to those who know Minis. The second time was for a head gasket. Ben was able to get everything fixed for at least a $1K less than another Mini expert in NorCa; where I am from. Once again Ben saved the day and that is why I will tow my Mini all the way to LA to have him fix it. He is that good and has saved me a ton of money because he knows what he is doing. He is now also working on BMWs which is good news for you Bimmer owners. If he is half as good on them as on a Mini he should be one of the best BMW mechs in LA! read more

My engine light was on and I Found this place on yelp about one week ago. I've see many great review for this shop. Since my car have not reached 70,000 miles yet, I decided to Try the dealer first and they gave me $3,280 quote to fix it along with alightment. I asked for no alightment since I have life time alightment with firestone. The dealer advised $2,825. My heart sinked as I don't have that much of money. I Decided to get out from the dealer and come over this auto shop and give it a try. Jeff is very humble and nice, he walk me through all the details of what or what not needs to be fixed and Ben is also very welcoming both of them explain everything after the diagnostic and it turn out I only need to fix a few part and estimate $525, that a HUGE differences comparing with Dealer. what is great is it will be done by end of the same day. From the conversation With them I can see why many of the review on yelp about them is true. I feel happy to spend $525 with them knowing they are expert for Mini Cooper and BMW, which is hard to find!! I was so happy! The auto shop looks very clean and well kept. Went to the M.C.E. because the Stealerships Lie and treat me like an idiot. Won't go into detail but I won't go back (Mini Ontario, Mini Crevier) I do Wrench what I can but I don't have the Tech stuff. So when you tell me my Mini backfires because it's supposed to we will have a disagreement or that you test drove my car and you didn't. That being said I found these guy's(Mini Cooper Experts) No BS no hype. They listened to me. Didn't pat me on the head and placate me. Ooooo Did I say they listened to ME. No hard pressure upsell . They fixed my Mini(4 days) and had the old parts to show me without me having to twist an arm. My repair was costly only because of what they had to do but IT WAS FIXED. Much cheaper than the stealership. DID I SAY MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE STEALERSHIPS. that was about 3 weeks ago and then the same light came back on again indicating possible turbo problems. Took it back to the Experts had it 2 days. I picked it up. Jeff said the turbo has issues( 139000 miles) LOL. No charge. Yes they hooked to the mystery machine ,NO CHARGE. I know the turbo will need replacement soon. Look these guys are the real deal. Trust is everything. Great job guys. read more

While learning how to drive, my daughter damaged both the clutch and transmission of the 2005 Mini I had just bought her. All the quotes I had received locally were over $4000 (rebuilt transmission & new clutch). Facing extreme sticker shock, I was desperate to learn more about what was really wrong with her car and if it was possible the tranny didn't really need to be replaced. Flat out...I don't trust most mechanics. I researched on the internet and called many businesses. From the internet, I found Mini Cooper Experts, so I called and spoke to Ben and drilled him with a gazillion questions. Never once did he become inpatient or rush me. We had several conversations. He stated he had a trusted contact that could rebuild the tranny less than buying one from the dealer. He quoted me a price for him to do the clutch and for his contact to rebuild tranny. The price was much lower than all the quotes I had received. Based on how professional, knowledgeable and friendly Ben was, I decided to have him do the work...so much so I drove the car over an hour north from my home to his shop. Unfortunately, Ben soon called me to inform me our car did not have the type of tranny you can rebuild at a shop (rebuilt had to be purchased from the dealer). But, true to his word he only charged me his cost and lowered his labor price to keep my cost very close to what he originally quoted me..still saving me tons of money. He also fixed a tire leak at no charge. I too have a Mini. Going forward, I am more than happy to take the long drive to get Ben's shop for our repairs and maintenance. He is awesome.
