I don't know where to begin--there's just so much I need to share. The amazing staff at Cooper Mountain Kennel goes above and beyond what is expected. We recently took our adopted Australian Shepherd mix to stay there for a week while out of town. Although Cody is a "mix", he is 100% crazy, in a loveable sort of way. We rarely left him for the first two years of his life, so I was nervous about leaving him. He has a habit of not eating when we are away and this worried me since we were going to be gone for a whole week. After a couple days I called to see how Cody was doing and they told me that he wasn't eating very much at all. They asked if he had any allergies so that they could try to feed him different types of food. The next day one of their staff members called me and said that they had tried to feed him baby food and another type of food, but he wasn't eating either of those, so would it be okay if they purchase some ground beef, cook it, and try to see if Cody will eat that. I was STUNNED. I could not believe that they would go that much out of their way to make sure that Cody ate something in our absence. AMAZING STAFF. I said that it was absolutely okay and thanked them for their sincere, beyond the call efforts to help Cody. I spoke to someone again a day or two later and she said that yes, Cody had eaten all of the cooked hamburger. They had gone to the grocery store to purchase ground beef and ground turkey to feed him. WOW. Over the course of the week, I had spoken with Emily (office manager), Kim, and Sarah. They were/are all friendly, warm, professional, and provide outstanding customer service. In addition, it is apparent that they all love dogs. Over the years Erica (a groomer who also works at the front desk) has always provided me with outstanding customer service as well. When I arrived to pick up Cody, Jerri (one of the groomers) was not quite finished with Cody. I had purposely not asked that Cody be groomed because honestly, I was worried that he would be unmanageable (remember--100% crazy) and that a groomer might get bitten or scratched. The manager had them wash Cody because he was very dirty and they didn't want him to go home like that. I was absolutely amazed when Jerri brought out an immaculate, fluffy, and happy Cody out from the back. WOW AGAIN. I asked her how he did with her and apologized for his bad behavior. Jerri just smiled from ear to ear and said that he was no problem at all. Unbelievable. On my way out to my car, I had the pleasure of meeting Kim in person. She shared with me that Cody sometimes stayed near her in the front office. She said that Cody thinks he's a human being and likes being around people all of the time. This it true. Kim said that Cody never wanted to go to his kennel and would try to hide under a desk in the front rather than go to the back (where the kennels are) when coming in from his play time. Kim laughed and said, "Cody is so funny!" Also, they offer: *Reasonable rates that include a daily play session with a staff member! I've been using this kennel for over 10 years. Our last visits have successively gotten worse. And after this last visit for just a single night in February, I will never take her there again. She came home sick with diarrhea. I believe they gave her the wrong food. She doesn't do well with their brand of food. I never received my container of the food I sent for her. I did call them to see what happened and with in seconds they told me she ate her own food. But, how would they know unless they checked with the employee and certainly that would take more than a few seconds. After all that, then I found out about their new ownership and other dogs with similar problems. The new owners must be so proud that they kept themselves a secret. read more

NEVER take your animals here. My dogs spent a week in this hell-hole and, when I picked them up, they were covered with urine and feces. From what I could determine, they had been sleeping in their own filth for the entire week. When I asked to speak to the owner, she just shrugged her shoulders and offered to CHARGE ME TO BATHE THEM! NEVER take your animals to this place. They could care less about your animals. read more

I absolutely do not recommend bringing your pet to stay at Cooper Mountain Kennel. My experience showed me that the staff our 100% incapable of animal care. My cat was recommended a meal plan by his vet and confirmed by a second vet. I gave specific feeding instructions upon dropping my cat off and his diet was DOUBLED during his stay at CMK. This was done with out consulting me or gaining my permission. It is completely mind-boggling that my pets diet was altered so significantly without even a phone call to me. This was done because he looked "skinny". Not because of his actual weight, which prior to his stay was completely healthy and normal. My cat has been confirmed to be at a healthy and appropriate weight (confirmed by multiple vets). Upon picking my cat up he is noticeable larger. I would estimate he has gained several pounds during roughly 2 week stay. This was extremely frustrating and upsetting and simply put an EXTREMELY UNSAFE PRACTICE. Again his daily food intake was DOUBLED. Next the employee never brought out to me the cat bed and food dish I left with him. I was informed that on the second or third day of his stay the food bowl was broken - BY ANOTHER CAT. I was offered no form of compensation until I specifically asked for it to be done. Next I spent 10-15 minutes waiting for my cat's bed to be found. After bringing out bedding that didn't belong to my cat I was told that his bed was lost and presumably gone. To where? They couldn't tell me. PATHETIC. And to me exhibits a basic failure of responsibility indicating the staff hired here should not be taking care of animals. Finally after agreeing to compensate me for the lost bed it is miraculously found. However my CAT'S bed was partially SOAKED IN DOG PEE. I was ready to leave and be done with CPK and unknowingly tossed the bed into the car upon seeing a wet streak on my car seats I realized it had been pee'd by a dog. CPK offered to wash the bed and have me pick it up. Basically offering to create another inconvenience to my list of errands: replacing the bowl and having to re-adjusts my cats diet. My cat his noticeably bloated from being over feed and his tummy has been making all sorts of noises since his pick up. COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL. The staff I encountered are in THE WRONG BUISNESS. The person who helped me was named Allison (that is what my receipt said) a blue haired woman who had very poor customer service skills. If you care for your animal I truly urge you to find another option for boarding. My experience was completely awful and they are clearly not responsible enough human beings to care for another persons pet. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. read more

Under new ownership. Very different place and not in a good way. Normally my dog is eager to go in - he was...up to the door. Once we went in he sensed something different and while he went in it was different. It's apparent they don't know the long time customers at all and check up to see where you are and then when you are coming. None of the familiar faces appear to be there and when I checked - new owners. read more

First off I just want to say I have the three most anxious dogs on the planet. I always feel the need to apologize for my dogs nervous aggression. But they seem relaxed and well cared for when we pick them up from Cooper Mt. The staff at Cooper Mountain understand my dogs and treat them so well. I would totally recommend Cooper Mountain to anyone, especially if you have a nervous Nellie as I do. I also wanted to say that the kennel is very clean and well cared for. read more

Have become very disorganized over the last several months. I took my dog and 2 cats in for a stay and they didn't have the details of my online reservation. It took 20 minutes to go thru everything while my pets were outside in the car. Also didn't have my dog's vaccination records that I dropped off the week before. Then when I went to pick up, they forgot to bathe my dog. She was filthy and stank. I had to give her a bath myself which is the last thing I wanted to do after an 8 hour flight. Never boarding my pets here again. read more

Our dog has boarded at Cooper Mountain several times and always goes charging in, ready to play, on his next visit. He boarded the first time as a five month old puppy, which is a bit young, but they were great with him and were careful to keep him away from the more aggressive-playing dogs. At age one, we are waiting to neuter him a bit longer, but they do allow intact males to board, which not every kennel does. I have not been back to the kennels, but the front area is immaculate, and it doesn't have the usual "kennel smell." They have large outdoor play areas for group play, and there are woods behind the kennel for trail walks. The only reason I don't give them five stars is that only one "activity" is included in their base price; you have to pay extra for up to two additional activities -- play yard, leash walk, or potty walk. But all in all a great place with a friendly, caring staff. read more

I picked up my dog today at Cooper Mt Kennel and loved to see my lab running around outside when I pulled up. He was having such a great time chasing balls and splashing in a pool. The staff is so hands on it really makes me feel comfortable to leave our dog there even for a week. Now we wouldn't take our lab to any other kennel. read more

A puppy mill of boarding. What looked good on the outside was not so hot on the inside. After two weeks here, our dog, once picked up, had to be taken to a vet following her stay. I thought her tail was broken and she was in pain. After calling CMK on the day of pick up, with concerns of an injury during stay, I was assured the owner would call me back that day. 4 days later, she called back only to say she was sorry our "doggie did not enjoy her stay" and "perhaps there were a lot of dogs that week" as if taking to a child. All blah, blah. Rather than seem concerned at all. As a business owner, the right answer should have been, "I apologize, let me look into this matter,". This is a dog who boards often and has always enjoyed it. According to the vet, she was completely stressed out. It took a couple of weeks for her to get back to normal. And I think she has lost some hearing since then, too. She is 11 years old and I have NEVER seen our dog react this way. Still do not know what happened. I did have a flag which I choose to ignore during her stay. I called from China to check on our dog, the aid said she was happy and "liked to play". This is not characteristic of our dog and I even asked if she was talking about the right dog. The aid said, "oh yes" she is very playful. (not out dog, btw). To sum it up, boarder beware. read more
