My oh my this place is something else…read more.. My husband had a work conference here at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center so we packed our bags and my toddler and I came too. I was looking into pictures of this place and was so confused as to what was the resort and what wasn't. There's no way all these pictures that look like different places can be all in one place... well my friends... it is. As we pulled up, I realized just how big this place is and I got really excited to go inside and finally figure out what's what. This place is gorgeous. Part of it looks like a lodge, part of it looks like a mall, part of it looks like a convention center... because it is, part of it looks like a hotel, part of it looks like the riverwalk, etc... and yet it all blends together seamlessly. There are 4 main restaurants, at least 2 bars, two coffee shops, one is also a marketplace, shops that sells clothes, a kids store, an arcade, a spa, a gym, a FedEx business center, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, another restaurant down the street that is also part of the resort, a water park down the street that is part of the resort... I'm FOR SURE forgetting something... or multiple somethings. There's no way to do it all in a week while also attending a conference. So we didn't hit up everything. It's okay though, my toddler mostly wanted to just walk around. Nonstop. There's plenty to see by doing that. There's a scavenger hunt that you can do, a virtual animal safari, model trains that we stopped to watch multiple times, a mini Build-A-Bear Workshop right in the middle of things... I'm telling you, this place has it all. We arrived on a Monday, left on a Friday, and didn't have enough time to do and see everything. We ate at 3 of the 4 main restaurants. We tried to eat at the Riverwalk Cantina - and I was admittedly most excited about that one. However, the first two nights they were having a buffet. We wanted to order from the menu. We said we'd come back. The third night my husband had a business meeting at the steakhouse so that was a no go. The fourth night we went down there to eat... they were closed. Getting ready for a private event. *sad face* We left the next day and never got the chance to try it out. Things are a bit pricey, but you pay a convenience fee, and the fact that they literally had everything we needed in one place without leaving the resort was just that... convenient. So I wasn't complaining, especially with a two-year-old in tow. Even the option to have food delivered to your room was great since I could order breakfast to be delivered before my kiddo woke up for the day. The room was nice. It was pretty modern and spacious. We were on the first floor so it was also convenient. We didn't have a fancy view. It was a side parking lot, but the fact that it was part of a block of rooms reserved for the conference meant that we weren't expecting a room with a view or anything. I slept comfortably, but brought my own pillow which I believe was a big part of my comfort. My husband said the typical hotel bed was too hard. It wasn't as enjoyable of a sleeping situation for him. I could've stayed longer and been just fine lol. Anyways, I know this review is very long and I'll cut it off here, but I will say that there are so many more things I could say, but you just have to experience this place for yourself. I will review the restaurants we tried separately. Texan Station Sports Bar & Grill Zeppole Old Hickory Steakhouse

The Papadeaux Seafood Kitchen, which is the Cajun brand of the Papa restaurants, is my favorite of all the chains. Food is always fresh and flavorful with the service always being friendly and fast. This particular location is at the Dallas airport and it's great bc it's literally one floor beneath the airport so it's quite peaceful when you sit in its inviting and warm decor. I tried their "Mississippi Catfish Opelousas" which had blackened catfish fillets in a Cajun cream sauce loaded with shrimp, oysters, and lump crab meat served over dirty rice. The whole dish was decadently flavorful and hit the spot right before my connecting flight. Portions are quite large and worth the somewhat steep price.

This place defies all of my knowledge and thoughts about airport food…read more How can this joint manage to be this good, to as many world travelers, consistent by all appearances and indicators by myself and the continued good reviews, is baffling to me and makes me question reality itself in that if this is possible, can world peace actually be a possibility, in the world somehow, in the future of the world, and all of its people in all of the lands from beginning of time until the end of time, amen. That's a run on with terrible grammar.... That's how far off this place has thrown me. My server was also a freaking rock star!! What in the world is happening at Terminal A, DFW?!?!? He made excellent suggestions and took excellent care of me! In fact, all of the staff seemed to be top notch! Inside is like you are nowhere near an airport. It's kind of sunken between terminal floors or something. I took an elevator down and popped out in a strange place in a server area where my actual server was just standing there waiting. How in this hell is that étouffée that damn good. Now I realize some of the best Cajun food I've ever had came from a frozen bag from a place in Franklin TN (that's another story on Yat's), so I am likely not the best judge, but I do know good food. What I had here was really good. I got the crawfish platter and it was enough food for me, my server, and the fat guy sitting next to me at the other table. Well, maybe not, he ate all of his plate and then a whole dessert. I missed what he had before he inhaled it. But.... My server was skinny so.... LOL. I ate and ate until I could not eat anymore and still only managed to knock out about 50% of it. The fried crawfish was great and cooked perfectly. Just the right seasoning too. Dirty rice is hit or miss for me seasoning wise, but this version was really good too. I ate a good bit of it. The étouffée part of the dish was the real star of the show. Holy shit! So gooooood! Throw some of those fried ones in it and damn. I'm done. No more. If you read this, get your ass the DFW Terminal A and get some of this inside you as fast as you can! Stop what you are doing, miss that flight, leave grandma at the gate, ditch the kids, whatever you have to do, do it now, get on the dang train if need be and go get some of this food in your damn belly! I rode from Terminal D here and back just to eat! '26 - 11

There is a large parking garage just across from the main entrance so parking wasn't an issue and I honestly prefer to self park anyway. The girl at the front desk checked us in quickly and was friendly, however, did not go through any of the elite member benefits aside from late checkout (F&B credit, lounge access, complimentary wifi, welcome gift, etc) and o ended up having to use the chat function to ask about all of those things. There was a pool and fitness center along with a club lounge for elite members to enjoy breakfast in the morning along with snacks and beverages throughout the day. The room was large and well up-kept, however, it had a strong musty smell and some of the pillowcases has brown stains on them which led me to wonder if they had actually changed them or simply made the bed without changing anything. Overall a pleasant stay but given the stained pillowcases, musty smell, and lack of info given at check-in it's a 4/5 for me. It just feels very manufactured. The menu is varied. If you've read my reviews before, you know that I'm a Texa-fornian, so there are a lot of places in Texas that don't suit my palate (or my waist line.) I was easily able to find a couple of things that I would have enjoyed. Based solely on the calorie count, I picked the salmon with cauliflower rice. It was a little oily, but it was good. I cleaned the plate. It's dark inside, like a steakhouse. Not for me, but if that's your thing, you would be happy. It's clean the food's fresh and if you're a drinker, there is a lot of beer. I'm not a drinker. Maybe you're asking why did you even go? Someone gave me a gift card and someone gave my daughter a gift card, so we had to use them.

The place has high ceilings with exposed pipes lending an industrial vibe. The menu helpfully marks vegetarian options as well as lower calorie choices. I was impressed to see power outlets along the purse hooks below the bar - if you wanted to bring a laptop and catch up on work emails, it'd be possible. Our waitress was business-like and a little unfriendly, and service was terribly slow. The food was good. Free refills on our drinks flowed freely. I tried a veggie burger which was a bit spicy and oaty. I wish I'd tried a salad! Still, I appreciated that they worked with me on reserving tables for a large group all with separate checks.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.
