Where have I been these past two years that I did not know this restaurant existed. I tried it for the first time today and it was fabulous. It's hard to find only because it's inside the Silver cloud Hotel at Ruston point. It's a beautiful place with a great atmosphere,, view and the service was excellent as was the food, I love shrimp and grits, and they had shrimp and polenta, which was really really good nice and creamy With delicious shrimp in it. They have a small brunch menu but there were a lot of dishes on it that I want to try. I would highly recommend that you try this out because I know you'll go back again and again. They had some interesting cocktails as well as some very delicious wine. It's a must go to!! read more

I just tried to make a reservation online and on OpenTable. Neither would allow a party of 6, you have to call. I called and was told that they would have to get permission from a manager to book a "large group" of 6 and would call me back. The hostess then called and said she was given permission to book a reservation however they had two policies: 1) a 20% auto-gratuity added to the bill, and 2) no split checks. I told her to disregard my request for a reservation after reading the reviews on Yelp and then this phone call. Ridiculous - no future business from me. read more

We really enjoyed our brunch!! The food quality was great, and the ambience was even better. I got the pork belly hash and my mom got the eggs benedict. Double date of married couples for Saturday brunch with reservations in Tacoma at a place that came recommended by the couple that lives in Tacoma. Great view, no denying that! Menu looks better than it ends up tasting. This is not gourmet food - expect something like Red Robin and you'll most likely get something slightly better. The cocktails, however, are likely to be significantly better than Red Robin. The floor staff are, however, drafted from places like Red Robin. Our coffee was scalding hot, the food almost cold upon delivery. Fries looked like they would have been very good if they had been served without must have been a lengthy delay without a warming light. The fried chicken sandwich is architected so that it immediately falls apart in the hands and is impossible to put back together. We had separate checks and one was spot on, the other barely resembled the items that were ordered. Overall, this was perfectly meh as a restaurant, but a very nice spot for a weekend mimosa. I think there was seating at the bar that could see the water, so perhaps I'd try that in the future. read more

The food was fine. People will come here for the views and location, but the food wasn't anything special. We had a reservation for 14 and they inexplicably don't split checks, so everyone was pooling cash to try to cover the bill, which seems like an odd thing given that it's 2021 and most places split checks pretty easily. read more

This new restaurant on Point Ruston inside the Silver Cloud is beautiful inside and offers gorgeous views of the sound and Mt Rainier. The menu is very very limited. I ordered the rigatoni--delicious with plenty of pork. My friend ordered the rib eye and loved it. And my other friend ordered the shrimp linguine. It was meh. Not the kind of linguine you'd expect with shrimp, the sauce was...different. Wouldn't recommend. It's pretty pricey here as well. Our waitress was quick but not friendly and didn't have good suggestions or could really tell us what the desserts were. She didn't seem to know the menu. I'd come back but maybe only for drinks and good atmosphere and views. read more

I had high hopes, but I was sadly disappointed. The location is amazing with incredible views. The staff were all very kind and hospitable. Our server was a sweetheart. The drinks were great. However, the food was not good. My hub had the shrimp linguine and it tasted like lemon juice from the plastic lemon bottle mixed with a bottle of chili pepper. For a $24 dish, I wasn't okay with that. I had the rigatoni and it tasted like ravioli from a can. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce was bland. The lighting in the restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night on the water could have been better (see photo). This place has huge potential. Just need to redo the menu and bring in a legit chef. Change the lighting and rearrange some of the awkwardly placed booths that look like they don't belong. The graphics on the website look great. Maybe they are still working out the kinks. I truly wish the best for this place, I know it's not easy staffing a restaurant right now during Covid. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I wish I would have had this before we decided on a restaurant for date night! read more

My wife and I were excited to try a new (and gorgeous) restaurant in Tacoma...we "discovered" Copper & Salt NW Kitchen while walking around Pt. Ruston and decided to return for a date night. First off the positives: 1. Very nicely laid out dining area 2. Stunning views of Commencement Bay and the South Puget Sound 3. Modern decor with clean lines 4. Large bar and friendly bar service - wine pours are very generous! 5. Wine by the glass prices are very reasonable 6. Very friendly staff 7. Menu items were not overpriced given the location of the restaurant So...some areas to be worked on: 1. Our food we ordered, although good, came out as if it had been sitting for a while. My wife's salmon, tasty as it was, was not particularly hot. My shrimp pasta dish was only warm on the outside (you know how pasta gets when it has been cooked but then sat on a plate waiting) and warmer on the inside. Good flavor...just appeared to have sat too long. 2. Croutons in the Caesar salad were soggy...probably mixed ahead of time then sat. Nothing wrong with the salad itself but soggy croutons... 3. Our Pana Cotta dessert - well, was more gelatin based than cream based. I think that Copper & Salt has a ton of great potential and I'm willing to give them a break - and another chance. Right now ALL good eateries are suffering from lack of trained staff, limited menu selections and supply chain issues. We might experienced one or more of those issues when we dined there last night. I'm hoping that they start a Sunday brunch (rumor has it sometime in mid-November 2021). Overall I can recommend Copper & Salt with a few caveats that could easily be fixed by the restaurant. Tacoma and vicinity really do need another fine dining establishment and I'm hoping that Copper & Salt becomes one of those! read more

Absolutely amazing experience! Not only is the backdrop the beautiful waters of the Puget Sound, but the food and service were impeccable! We had steak (beyond tender & juicy), seafood dishes, superb bread, and a delicious dessert. Everything was outstanding! First time we went there it was nice and the Bloody Mary was great. The second time the waiter spilled the whole bottle of cold water on my jeans I was soaked and they didn't even take off the drink or something off my bill at least to make it up! Looking for dinner on a Wednesday summer night and happened to stumble upon this place. Beautiful venue and awesome views. We had a party of 11 and they were able to seat us thanks ! We basically tried everything on the menu and we all loved the food and hospitality. I had the rib-eye delicious. son had the "secret " kids spaghetti and meatballs he loved it. First time at this restaurant and it was a great experience. Seating was beautiful looking out at the Sound. Attentive wait staff and great selection of drinks and entrees. Fanstic views, modern upscale decor and friendly competent service. The cuisine is Mediterranean/Italian inspired featuring local ingredients like black cod. The menu offerings were rather limited but the everything was very delicious. The staff told that offerings will expand with time, but they want to focus on quality for now. read more

I took my Wife to C&S for her Bday dinner and it was mediocre at best. She had the Chicken that was bland and just plain awful. I had the Meatballs and Skirt Steak, the Meatballs reminded me of Spaghetti O's I ate as a kid. The Skirt Steak was a very slight portion and just Blah. Food was delicious! Especially the bucatini alla Rosa pasta - our table also ordered the pappardelle (sauce wasn't thickened it was a lot like a stew poured over noodles) and the bolognese and we all liked the bucatini the best. Host was kind , service otherwise was terrible which is why they got knocked down a couple stars. read more

Birthday Celebration for my niece. The views are beautiful. The ambience was upscale. On the Open Table reservation and on the follow up phone call to confirm our reservation it was noted that we had a guest in a wheel chair and needed an accessible table. When we arrived they had us at a high top table. The hostess was very apologetic, took responsibility for the error and arranged for a round of drinks (or appetizers if we preferred) gratis. (cocktails are $12-$15). The menu is limited but I think that allows them to focus on each dish. We all chose pasta dishes and they were all wonderful. I can speak specifically to the Pappardelle with short ribs and trumpet mushrooms. OMGawd it was delicious. The house bread is a delicious house made Focaccia. My husband and i shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was delicious. The server offered to split our check even though we were told no splitting for parties of 6 (or more). Unfortunately she included not only our dessert but one from someone else in out party. I checked and they weren't charged so I went ahead and paid for it. Perhaps with the reservation snafu and the check error I should only give them 4 stars but the food was so good I want to encourage others to give this restaurant a try. This place was all right but I wouldn't say it's my favorite. The views and drinks were amazing but the food was OK. I came with a group of six which 3 of them were kids (under 18) and they told us they could not split the bill. We just needed the bill split three ways, but since we were a group of six they couldn't? It took forever to get her food and by the time I got my pasta it was cold. I made online reservations for the patio and when my party arrived we were told the patio wasn't open. I found that very disappointing because I specifically chose this restaurant due to patio seating. That being said, We were seated indoors with a beautiful view of the water and everyone had a great time. The server made things fun and changed our first impression from a negative one to positive. I would give them another try due to the great service we received. However I would definitely call and confirm a second time that we we have patio seating. read more

The outdoor patio of this venue has a beautiful view but suffers from poorly placed umbrellas and seating that caused unnecessary glare and over exposure. The service was mediocre with the host demanding a phone number and name required to be seated despite no wait. There were few server interactions once seated. Many tables were left with dirty dishes from prior guests inviting crows. The menu was limited to a few breakfast items and flat breads (ie imposter pizza). The food was bland and poorly plated. Not to disparage McDonald's but a sausage burrito and hash brown from the Golden Arches would have been ten times cheaper and tastier than the breakfast burrito served at this restaurant. Even the home style potatoes were overcooked and under seasoned. Bloody Mary was watery with heavy base of pepper and an odd lime flavor. With so many other dining options in Ruston, this venue can be avoided. I didn't get food poisoning and my friend paid for the meal sparing a 1 star review. read more

We were clearly her lowest priority. She never refilled our water or offered us second drinks. Not sure how the food is, but the service culture of of this restaurant is terrible, when asking if a table for 6 was available the response was first we add a 20% gratuity automatically and we don't split checks! We fist say OK, and then asked if they served breakfast, mind you it's 1035am, they said yes, but then said it switching to lunch at 11am and although we were being sat in 5 min, we were told breakfast was no longer an option.... What a truly disappointing Christmas meal that started out with excited anticipation. Great location and the other restaurants at Ruston have all been ones I would return to, so I thought taking my wife here for a Christmas dinner would be a great treat as well. No such luck. Paid $300 for two 3-course meals and while the main course of the prime rib and tagliatelle were excellent, who serves caviar with soft untoasted white bread and hot desserts that are overcooked and then not even warm when delivered to the table? What made it worse was the overall lack of ownership by anyone. The server blamed the kitchen and they couldn't even find a cracker for the caviar. And then the toffee pudding was burned on the outside, dry and not even warm on the inside. Initially, I just gave up and went to pay the bill only to overcharged on the bill. So after waiting 10 minutes for the bill to get fixed because it takes a manager, I decided to say something about the meal to the manager. And that's when I decided to write this review. Who tells a customer that just dropped $300 on a dinner that he's only the manager and the Executive Chef is the one who determines the menu and yes, they have a sous-chef to inspect the dishes before they go to table and he'll pass my concerns on the to chef. And "hopefully" when we come back we will have a better experience next time. Fat Chance we are coming back to a place that feels they're entitled to customers because of the location and don't have to do more than "promise" a better experience next time. read more
