I've eaten here three times. The first two were excellent, the third not so much. The food is always delicious, however on my most recent visit the service was, while not bottom-barrel, bad enough to prompt this negative-ish review. On a Sunday where only 6-7 tables were occupied at any given time, it took 20 minutes to get our drinks & order taken (brisket sandwich, brisket tacos, & a salad) and a further 25 to receive our food. Our waitress made an impromptu joke about being hungover & was then incommunicado for the next 30 or so minutes. No checks on our food, no refills, nothing. Went to Copper Barrel for the first time yesterday. I was really craving some good BBQ and someone had mentioned this place so we went to check it out. I had been craving some yummy brisket for a while and was looking forward to going. We had a couple of decent appetizers (baked goat cheese and bacon wrapped asparagus), but when my brisket came out, I could just tell it was not going to be the juicy brisket I was craving. I took two bites and let my husband try and it was so dry and chewy that I would have rather eaten the sole of my shoe. We explained the issue to our server and al he said was "next time we will make sure it's better." Next time? Why would I come back to a place that serves this quality of food? Now I also know that the service isn't great since there was no other offer to fix the issue. This was a great disappointment. The only Reason it even gets one star is because of the corn bread. Great atmosphere from the dining area all the way to the restrooms. The cleanliness and decor is welcoming. They have trivia nights, live music nights and and the food is always fresh and tasty. A Full bar with craft beers and the wait staff is always on point and happy to make your visit a memorable one. Just like many other reviewers, I'm a Hampshire resident hoping for a great new establishment I can frequent. Well, I'm really on the fence. I made my first visit & was hoping to fall in love but instead, it was just falling in 'like' ... you know, friend zone. I got the fish with a side of fries which was decent but nothing to rave about. My friend got brisket, for which I applaud her for taking the chance. You see we have a place where the brisket melts in your mouth so I just don't take a chance because I am always disappointed. Well, sadly, that was exactly what we found. She said the brisket was dry & didn't have any flavor. I could tell it was dry just looking at it. Very disappointing. Although the first visit was so-so, I will try again because maybe I will find something else that hits the spot. I haven't given up on you yet, Copper Barrel. read more

Great place to hang out along with great food! I live in Hampshire and I was excited to see Corkshire Pub revamped into what is now Copper Barrel. My husband and I will definitely be back! We stopped by after my daughters play at the high school since it was "date night" and I'm glad we gave it a try. I ordered the Carne Asada Street tacos and they were excellent! I loved the refried black beans and the flavorful steak. This is our new place to go in town ;-). Paula the bartender was very nice and pleasant. We met the owners and they were very nice as well. I ordered the pork fried rice. It was extremely salty and I sent it back. They were nice and offered me another dinner. This time I got a cheeseburger and it was very good. I liked their coleslaw too. My husband got the chicken and rib combo. The ribs were tender and tasty. We didn't care for the smoked chicken. I felt it was too salty and my husband didn't care for flavor. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Don't get out to Hampshire very often but I would give it another try. read more

What a gem! Right in charming downtown Hampshire, I'm so glad I found this place. I got the smoked turkey after seeing a picture of it here on Yelp. Joe was our server and he was very attentive. He added a side of poutine gravy with my turkey and mashed potatoes and it was an excellent addition to my meal. The cornbread is , hearty and flavorful. We will definitely be back! read more

This was our first visit to the Copper Barrel and I will say it won't be our last. The decor is done perfect for a newer restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. For a busy Saturday night they did a great job. Now the important part, the food was delicious. The ribs and brisket were done perfectly. The bacon wrapped asparagus and bacon corn dip were phenomenal. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the shrimp shareable was a bit skimpy for the price. Here for the first time, Friday evening. The place was not over crowded,the bar had plenty of room. Dining room was maybe half full. I tried the all you could eat fish fry for $14. The server started out with 2 pieces of fish but refills were not to far away.the batter on the fish was light. Went for a third piece but were driven out by the live band which was set up in the dining room about 20 feet from our table.Conversations were kept to a yell which made the meal less enjoyable.i can see now why the place was 1/2 full. Showed up at 6:35p halloween night (Oct 31 2019) since they advertised kids eat free with costume and adult meal purchase, we had two kids and two adults, seated no problem as there were plenty of seats. Kids sat and colored while parents waited for server...and waited. 10 plus minutes no drink order no server, one server brought water asked "if we had been served" I said "no" he said he'll "go get our server"...still no server. Five minutes later and a couple gets seated two tables away and the same server that said he'll go get ours started serving the new family that came in. When they received there drinks that was the last straw and we left. As we were leaving the greater that seated us said "have a great night", I told her "we never got served" and walked out. No screaming kids, not sure why we were treated so poorly. No excuse for no service and will be my last time for this local restaurant, which is sad to say since there isn't many in Hampshire. read more

My husband and I wanted to try something new for dinner so we stopped here tonight. It did not disappoint! Tasteful stone and wood decor. I had bacon wrapped asparagus for an appetizer. It was delicious served with amazing creamy garlic dressing. We both had brisket sandwiches called The Almighty Brisket. It was fabulous! We had the ribs, so tender cooked perfect. We have dined here several times and it has always been good. It has been a very fun place they always have something going on. The service has always been wonderful everyone is so friendly. The owners always come around and check on things and ask about how everything was and they really want to know. This was the first time my family and I ever came to this establishment and it might be the last, the food was okay. One thing that did stand out unfortunately was the fact that one of the staff members there was going around to every table to check up on people and socialize my guess is it was the manager or something like that. Long story short, she went to every table EXCEPT ours. I wonder if we were too dark for her being that everyone else was Caucasian except for us and they got a certain approach and we didn't. This place has really good reviews so I decided to give it a second chance. The first time was during the soft opening and the food was cold and they ran out of everything. The second time trying it I just thought the food lacked seasoning. If they would add salt to everything the food would be great. The brisket and mac and cheese needed it as well as my daughters chicken tenders. I ended up bringing the brisket home and using Veterans Q barbecue sauce instead of the one that came with dinner and then it was edible. I also don't like how loud it is in there. It is like a loud lunchroom atmosphere. You have to talk really loud to be heard. I did have a chocolate martini that was delicious and the staff is very friendly. read more

Copper Barrel is in its infancy so that has to be taken into account. The restaurant is decorated really well with Hampshire's past and a rustic feel. The brisket is the reason to come here thus far. It is very tender and moist. They need to get a kids menu. Charging $3 for a kids drink is too much. The drink should be included with a kids item. The kids basically got a side item. I'm sure they'll get it straightened out. I want this restaurant to succeed and be a place in town we can go regularly. I know the ownership is open to feedback right now so I'm sure they will keep improving. read more

Such a delightful change for our little town of Hampshire. To start the decor is upscale and beautiful. Open and airy yet inviting and warm. We had a delicious meal last night at the Copper Barrel. We started with the Fried Deviled Eggs and the Smoked Bacon Wrapped Asparagus - both were great! I had the Diablo Pasta and my husband had the Salmon with a side of Mac & Cheese. Again, both were amazing. Others in our party had the Smokehouse Combo - also very good.
