There are a couple of Copper Door locations, Bedford one is our favorite. We usually stop by here after shopping at Merrimack Outlets. It's an upscale tavern with a casual and cozy feel. They have a wide selection of American fare, cocktails, and dessert menus. And also a seasonal menu. There's normally a little wait for the dining room area. The bar area is first come first serve. It wraps around so there are plenty of seating and high tops. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking space. Crispy Tuscan Meatballs- Four panko-crusted meatballs, marinara, and parmesan. Delicious and hits the spot for an appy. French Dip Sliders- Sliced tenderloin, provolone, caramelized onions, horse radish mayo, au jus, served with a side of house fries. We've ordered this several times now. It's amazing. Shrimp Po'Boy- Seasoned fried shrimp on a grilled roll served with a side of house fries. Yum. This was part of their summer menu. Overall Service: Everyone's lovely here, from the hostess to the server. We were lucky enough to get Alyssa as our server back-to-back-to-back. She's excellent and remembers details like how much I like Japanese Whiskey (they have Suntory here) amongst other things. We always leave here happy and full! read more

Been here a few times and it never disappoints. Make a reservation people! It gets busy. Quick service and great menu. This time I got the lobster pasta special: lobster pasta in a cream sauce with shrimp and veggies and a lobster tail on top! The calamari appetizer is always our go to. They've got the fried peppers, which is my favorite! We skipped dessert and both got an espresso martini. Everything was great! The only suggestion I have, is to get a printed cocktail menu! Please?? They've only got a few tablets floating around the restaurant with the drink menu on it. It's ALWAYS a wait to get it and browse. It can't be too hard to print the menu, right? The service at the Copperdoor had gone downhill. We have dined there for years. And lately order accuracy and the service has not been up to par. The wait staff has been slow on refills if they even check at all. Most of the time we have to request refills. In addition the time it takes for out food is exceptionally long and has come out like warm on a few occasions. Tonight I had to send my wife's food and mine back.... Both cold, and wife's did not come out correct. When they brought of back out.. Wife's food was still luke warm. This was an Anniversary dinner too. read more

When it comes to anniversary dinners, they've always been hit or miss for us. Why, we could tell you some pretty funny stories, as well as a few tragic ones. But Copper Door....falls into a very unique category of experiences. Because while everything was mostly good, the one thing we hoped would be great turned out to be.....eh....we'll just call it an underachievement. This place is a little difficult for me to rate, mostly because half star ratings aren't a thing here. Sure wish they were. Because in my eyes, Copper Door is more like...3.5 stars than 4. Allow me to carefully explain and see if you agree. Well, to start off, the decorum is pretty much everything you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. Only, this place is more like casual fine dining as opposed to formal fine dining. Far as attire goes, almost anything goes from what I could tell. Not even five minutes after sitting down, the waitress appears. This is so different from what we usually experience. If a server takes less than 10 minutes, it's pretty much expected. So, this was a pleasant bonus. Towards the middle, she was pretty scarce. But her overall friendliness made the evening delectable. Now, for the food, we got: the crab dip appetizer, fish chowder, the filet mignon and rib eye with a stuff haddock add on. If you follow my reviews, some of you probably already know where this is headed, so I may as well say this much upfront now. Basically, anything that was seafood related was cooked to perfection. The sides were pretty awesome, too. Where the restaurant fell short, however, was in the steak department (surprise, surprise). I dunno if this is a New England thing or just a NH thing. But we have been hard pressed to find a well seasoned steak up here that's NOT from a chain franchise. So, I'll get this out of the way now. The steaks were unimpressive. Both had the same problem--lack of seasoning. The wife literally poured A1 sauce on her filet. I never commit such atrocities because it goes against my steak religion. Still, you know what they say: any steak which requires the addition of A1 is a flaming hot red flag of a steak. The really odd thing is that, once again, the steak temperature and texture were fine. Well, as fine as they could be, considering the circumstances. While the rib eye temp was cooked perfectly, the filet was WAY undercooked. Wifey requested medium, she got back rare (almost looked blue). Worst part was when it came back a second time, it was closer to mid-well than medium. Also, I feel as if the cut quality of the rib eye was low. Like they got the thing from Walmart. 5 out of 10 for both steaks. Now, we can talk about all the good stuff! First, the crab dip. My GAWD!! This thing must've been infused with crack or something. Because I could not stop eating this dip. It's fabulous! Between the creaminess of the artichoke and cheese sauce, the huge pieces of crab mixed in, along with the generously seasoned pita slices....solid 10 out of 10. You guys remember that stuffed haddock I mentioned earlier? Equally fabulous! That lemon butter sauce situation they have going on...MMMMM!! I dunno what you call it. But I want the recipe! It is arguably the greatest thing I have ever tasted in fish form and it gets another solid 10 out of 10. Wifey also reported the fish chowder was a perfect 10. A shocker in the chowder world, btw. I almost forgot to mention this one small thing. But the garlic mashed potatoes that came with the steak were also pretty awesome. The only thing I'd change is that they could have had a more creamy texture, and maybe a pinch more salt. But I could tell they mixed butter and sour cream into the potatoes, which I love. They get an 8 out of 10. So, to sum up: seafood=excellent, appetizer=stellar, sides=good, steak=needs work, fellas. Needs work. All in all, I'm gonna be gracious and give Copper Door 4 servings of crab dip that makes you wanna slap yo' mama out of 5. read more

Great service, food, and management! I have been to the Copper Door four times now. My first visit, there was a minor issue with one of my dishes. They remade it, refused to bill me for the dish, and the manager gave me a gift card for a future visit! I was NOT suggesting any of this, and was more than happy to pay for my entire check, and not accept the gift card! After this, I have returned a few times with my latest visit being a friend's birthday, where they still kicked it out of the park. I feel that the cost is comparable to other higher-end restaurants in Bedford, and as a result, I'm obviously not eating here every night, but perhaps every few weeks or months. Looking forward to coming back, this is certainly a spot to eat at with my friends. read more

We had lunch at the Bedford location on Friday, July 11th. Our server was very nice and very attentive to our needs. We had the Chicken Rangoon appetizer and it was dry and taseless. I ordered the Bacon Cheddar Burger(Brioche, Bibb Lettuce, Tomato, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar, House Fries. $18.50) and with all the ingredients listed above, all I could taste was salt: Probably enough salt to kill a moose. Now let me be Frank for a moment. The French fries, regrets, I had a few, and then again, enough salt to kill a whole family of moose. I know that hamburger and potatoes need salt, but as with any spice, there's a point of diminishing returns and anyone who knows how to cook knows not to overdo it. read more

Came on a Tuesday in evening with work colleagues and surprising the place was packed. Was going to have my cousin's 60th bday dinner at the one in Salem, so the place was highly recommended and didn't disappoint. Most of the crew enjoyed the warm crab dip, some fried buffalo cauliflower and chicken Rangoon to start and I think they hit the mark well. Very flavorful. Our drinks were perfect, mine an old fashion but several martinis and special cocktails. My old boss told me to order the grilled caesar and he was right, not overcooked and really tasty. I had the Burrata Ravioli and it was good but most everyone got filets or ribeye and they loved theirs. Have business up this way often so will be back. read more

Gave the Salem store a chance after a disappointing experience in Bedford, but they seem to be more poorly run, if possible. Service was horrible, food mediocre at best, and management seemed dismissive of complaints. Definitely don't recommend, and will spread the word. T-Bones is a much better option. read more

Love love love! Ambiance is cozy and intimate. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Food is always delicious! The food is a unique twist on old favorites like sirloin spring rolls and chicken and waffles bbq pork skewers. The fish tacos and fried Brussels sprouts are two favorites. They have a martini and cupcake of the month that is fun to try. Their loyalty club is actually worth it, too. The price is a little high for an every day meal but it is reasonable for the quality and definitely worth it. read more

We were headed from the Boston area to The Mount Washington Resort and needed a place to stop for a late lunch as the resort restaurants were booked up. I called on the fly to check the wait time. The person said there was none but we would have to make a reservation using a credit card over the phone. I mentioned we were only 10 minutes away but she still insisted on me telling her my credit card number over the phone to secure a spot. This seemed kind of sketchy. I did it ... but when we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty and I don't know that it was necessary to read my card info. to a stranger over the phone to reserve a table at an empty restaurant. Our first impression of the restaurant ... it seems like every high end, soulless corporate restaurant that you'd go to in order to close a business deal or meet a client. It was beautiful with rustic beams and an old fashioned bar (where most people were eating between sheets of plexiglass) but it felt more like a wedding hall or a hotel restaurant in Arizona than a local restaurant ... but it was clean and classy. The menu was pretty amazing in that everything pretty much looked like something we wanted to eat. I had a sneaking suspicion based on the wide variety of foods and cuisines vs. a linear menu with a few items that we might be in for a 'Cheesecake Factory' type of experience ... amazing descriptions, average food. That's pretty much what we got. Average, comfort food. Nothing at all to complain about ... just nothing memorable. My date had the cottage pie, which was actually just a skillet containing lumps of mashed potatoes, some small steak tip pieces, cocktail onions and a watery gravy. It was really more of a beef stew. I had their hot fried chicken sandwich which basically tasted like a near $20 Chic Filet sandwich ... literally. It was good ... but I could have got the same thing off an exit on the highway for $5. The french fries were very good. Their beer and spirits menu was fantastic with everything from local craft beer to hard to find bourbons. The wine list was also very well curated. The prices were fairly high for drinks, as with the food, and we felt like the quality was not on par with the prices ... but we did enjoy our meals. The only disappointment we had was the crispy Brussel sprouts appetizer. It was a small handful of halved sprouts which were dry and charred with very little seasoning at all. It was like eating dry balls of paper for $11. We def. would not order these again. The fall menu looked pretty fantastic with a lot of fall comfort foods. I think we would eat here again because so much of the food sounded good, I am sure there are items which are probably better than the ones we ordered. Overall, you won't have a bad experience here ... the atmosphere is nice, if not a bit predictable, and the food is acceptable. The drink selection is good and the staff is nice. The outdoor seating was basically a white tent in the parking lot, so if you are coming for a meal and don't mind sitting inside, we felt very safe as there was plenty of distance between you and other tables and the ceilings are high. This was our second visit to Copper Door and I wanted so badly to love it. We had been there a year ago and didn't have a great experience because, although our waitress was amazing and the drinks were good, the food was not that great. The manager of the restaurant had actually reached out to us after our first visit and was super supportive and wonderful. We decided to give it another try last night And our experience was mixed. The hostess was amazing at continuing to support getting us our table. They were busy and she was keenly aware of how long we were waiting. She was friendly with us the whole time and continuously checked into make sure our table was being prepared. We were seated and our waitress came over to immediately take our drink orders. I don't remember if she gave us her name, but she quickly took our drink orders and left. She returned almost 10 minutes later with water and told us that the bar was a little backed up so it would be another few minutes. We put in an order for our appetizers and she was off again. Another 15 minutes or so went by before we finally received our drinks. She said that the bar had "lost the ticket". This was mildly annoying as we did have plans after our dinner, but we happily took our drinks and ate our appetizers. The steak eggrolls were really good and the crispy onions on top were amazing. Another server came by with our food and was super friendly and polite. As soon as the server walked away, I noticed that they had not given me part of my dinner. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Now I recognize that I stated earlier that the restaurant was busy, but we noticed that the tables next to and behind us had their servers come visit them multiple times where ours never came back. I had finished my drink and would have ordered another, but our waitress didn't come back until the end of our meal. By that point it wasn't worth mentioning that I didn't get any vegetable because we needed to leave. The food I got was very good (the short rib) and my husband enjoyed his meal as well. The food in my opinion was much better this time than our last experience however the service was severely lacking and disappointing. I give grace to the fact that they were quite busy however, as previously mentioned, all of the other tables around us, had their servers come to check in on them or take additional drink orders multiple times. It also should be noted that when we went to pay our bill, our waitress had to ask us what we ordered. She mentioned some excuse about a computer being down, but considering that the bartender allegedly lost our ticket and then she couldn't remember what we ordered, blaming it on the server being down, tells me that she really was not all that into being our waitress. Overall, I would recommend the food at copper door, but we were very disappointed in the customer service that we received. I do recognize that this was one individual worker, but it did taint our opinion of the restaurant overall. read more

The martinis at Copper Door are worth the trip alone. You can't go wrong with any of the martini options on the drink menu, but the chocolate martini made with ovaltine brought me right back to childhood. Last time I visited Copper Door which was a few weeks ago, I ordered the chicken rangoon appetizer (very good), and two pizzas. I was very impressed with the pizza. The Margherita pizza was great, but the prosciutto and ricotta pizza was phenomenal. Service is always spot-on as well. Will absolutely be back in the future. We chose the Copper Door to celebrate our 60th Anniversary. The food and cocktails are always excellent. BUT on May 2nd I ordered their Blood Orange Martini and always ask them to leave the dirty rocks. This did not happen and when the waitress returned I asked for the dirty rocks. She returned with a glass of ice with a pink coloring. We were totally appalled, after the fact, that my daughter and friend who were treating us told us that the bill had added a $9.50 charge reading "rocks with Tito" We did not order this!! Is this a common procedure at your restaurant. I am sorry to say I will miss not returning for special occasions and will let my friends and family know of this experience. read more

Got seated immediately as a party of two, the inside of this restaurant is beautiful and unique. Bathrooms are single stall all gender which is nice and private. Our waitress was very nice but only issue was it took a long time for her to show up at our table. My date and I took so long to decide what to order and eventually told the waitress to choose between a couple options for us. Our appetizer was the crab dip which was alright but a little heavy on the artichoke. Our entrees were delicious and we took home some leftovers. Still had lemon sorbet though! Had been a big fan of CD for years. Had never had a bad experience there. However, recently, the quality of the service & food gave declined. Don't get me wrong is still decent but it's not head and shoulders above other options like it used to be Last 3 times have been.. meh Last visit had both my wife and I saying that we don't feel the need to be back at CD for awhile. Last visit had us waiting 15 mins for the server to stop by and greet us and ask about drinks. We said yes but would like to look at the drink menu.. 15 mins later,when every table around us )which had been sat after us) had their drinks and we're still waiting on the menu. Server finally stops in and asks if we've decided on drinks... ummm. Not yet. Drinks were another 15 mins. We'd ordered apps and put our entrée orders in at same time. Server assured us she would wait to put the entree order in till after apps delivered.. fast forward 30 mins and.... Everything arrived at same time... Not sure why the decline from a, previously well run restaurant, but (this was the Bedford NH location). Maybe it's because ownership was focused on growing their other restaurant brands instead of keeping their current locations executing at a high level. We've had enough good experiences ,over the years, that we will give them another try in a few months. If that's meh we won't be back. read more

This place was great! They have a cute bar that makes me think of all the bars in Eataly in NYC. I got the pork and the mashed potatoes; they were absolutely amazing. My friend got the ribeye and the portion was huge. For starters we got the ahi tuna and the seafood stuffed mushrooms and watermelon salad. All the food was cooked to perfection, especially the pork. Fall off the bone and very juicy. I'm sad we didn't save room for dessert. Both tables on either side of us ordered dessert and they looked amazing but we were stuffed and had to bring boxes home as it was. read more

We went there for the first time while traveling. We are so glad we did, it was a nice surprise. We would actually give the food at 4 1/2, but can't rate it like that and so that's why it says a four. I had the Apple Bacon Grilled Cheese (minus the bacon and arugula ) and I really enjoyed it. My husband had the regular grilled cheese and tomato soup and he said he would give it a four (4). We both ate the creamy crab dip for an appetizer, and absolutely loved it. Not only did we think it tasted really .... good, but it was a substantial amount for an appetizer. We would give the crab dip a five (5). We both loved the unique way they served the tea and enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, my husband also thought the waitress did a very good job. Beautiful dining area and lounge. There was a singer/guitarist that was playing in the lounge area but could be heard through most of the dining area. It was hard to talk over this and we would have preferred quietly enjoying the ambiance of the restaurant. The staff were all in clean, uniforms and easily recognizable, I didn't notice nametags. Hostess immediately greeted & seated us; wait staff - immediately came to our table & greeted us, took our beverage requests & left multiple menus & a tablet with daily specials; received our order in a timely fashion. Copper Door is great! Love the atmosphere and warm ambience. I definitely recommend making a reservation or else you might be waiting for awhile, especially on a Friday night. I took my friend out to dinner for his birthday and they gave us a cute little birthday cupcake on the house. Usually I don't think cupcakes are all that but this was a pretty bomb cinnamon-y, apple-y cupcake. It was everything great about the fall season in cupcake form. I'm into places that give complimentary bread and butter. Copper Door provides popovers with butter which was pretty tasty. We started off with the calamari appetizer which was just okay. The breading was not very memorable and nothing to write home about. I got the "Stuffed Haddock Oscar" and it was super delicious! I was all about the fresh prime haddock with lump crab. There was a really great combination of flavors going on with that dish. The garlic fingerling potatoes were on point as well. My friend got the "New York Strip" and had no complaints. read more

I ordered the my strip expecting to have one of the best meals on the menu and with the strip came zero taste the steak did not taste like anything. Also, it had one long string of fat through the middle of it. I've never seen that before on any steak. This was a memorable evening for many reasons. Our first substantial snowfall made for a special evening, made it even more special because we had a group of people who have been friends for over 50 years. Our reservations for dinner were honored on the spot, even though the restaurant was quite busy. After sitting down and enjoying some superb cocktails, the wait staff brought the charcuterie tray and we started deciding on what to eat. The staff was indeed amazing. Knowledgeable, service oriented and eager to please. The Miso Baked cod was one of the best pieces of fish I have had in a long time. Likewise, the bacon wrapped meatloaf was absolutely perfect. We washed it down with a bottle of a superb red. Heather was our waitress, and she excelled at her job. We were very pleased with the service, attention, and efficiency. Overall, an absolutely flawless evening. The copper door serves excellent food with impeccable service and excellent and beyond. We will return. read more
