I am a long-time 18 plus years customer of the rutherford location which closed. I moved my business to the Clifton location as a loyal customer would. Every year I go to get my rings checked so that I don't lose diamonds which I have in the past. This July they noticed broken prongs and replaced them and cleaned my rings. It is now January. I lost a small stone on one of the rings they secured for me and I was told that since the ring was not bought there "show me the receipt that you bought it there" they are charging me for the new diamond. This policy was never shared with me. It is funny how they will do work, repair and clean items NOT PURCHASED there but won't guarantee the work they do. BEWARE. read more

I was a young girl and I loved this beautiful opal ring that was in the window. Purchased it on layaway until one day he told me to take it with me. I have been going to Corbo jewelers for over 20 years. The owner, Michael Corbo and his staff are wonderful. My husband had purchased my engagement ring, my wedding band, and my anniversary ring there. We also bought our twins christening crosses there as well as many, many pieces of jewelry and watches for myself. This is the only jeweler that I have ever dealt with and will only deal with. They are honest and fair and I feel like I am at home when I go there. I went to get a bracelet engraved. They engraved the bracelet and upon returning it to me I noticed that the lettering was not correct. When I inquired the woman was very nice and said they were not charging me. I told her that it was a gift and I could not give a bracelet with miswritten letters as a gift. The man then came over and told me his machine "slipped" and he thought I wouldn't notice. He said he could erase the letters so I could take it somewhere else. I asked him if he would fill in the gold and he said yes. When he came back the letters were gone and I again asked him if he filled it or polished it and he told me he filled it. Fast forward and I took it to another jeweler and they pointed out the discoloration and flexibility of the metal because it was too and told me that it was most definitely polished down. I am now out the money I spent on the bracelet and have to buy ANOTHER ONE. DO NOT GO TO A DISHONEST JEWLER!!! read more

Don't sell your gold jewelry here. They offer bad rates and the weighing machine is off. He said today's rate was $35 per gram by glancing at a printout on the wall that looks like it hasn't been changed in years. It was actually $39 per gram this morning. The scale weighed my 22k gold wedding chain at 9 grams when I believe it was 10-11 grams. I won't be doing business here again. read more

Although they did resize a band for my Seiko watch for $20 (which I think is a bit too overpriced for the 5 mins they took), they couldn't repair a Timex that I took at their place. Funny thing, I fiddled with the watch a little bit and fixed it myself for the second hand that wasn't moving. Moreover they couldn't get the back cover to fit back, and they gave me an explanation that they need to cut a groove and all when they had all the equipment in place. My guess is they are too lazy to do something that all they want is quick money. I'm not going back there again. Expensive and really really inefficient people. Save yourself some time and money by finding a better place. read more

I went in I believe on a Monday. The 2 ladies where in thier own conversation. Took aboit 10 minutes before I even got help. Then to make it worse they low key size you up. They don't seem to treat you equal. As if my money isn't green. Also a note to the trash around the jewelry. Change the bins , they were overly filled. It smelled. I had my wife's ring repaired here when a small side diamond fell out. When I surprised her with the repaired ring she noticed that the jeweler replaced it with a smaller diamond of much less quality. My wife took it back to the store and they refused to repair it or even replace the smaller diamond. They are not honest and will take advantage of you. We will never go back there. We explained to Janet how we had a setting made at a different place and that it was done horribly and she highly recommend working with Michael. We picked out a setting for a round diamond that we already have and Michael told us that our diamond would fit perfectly into the setting we picked out. The ring was already set with a cushion cut stone. Michael ensured us that cushion stones and round stones use the same setting. We believed him and purchased the setting (knowing we were paying too much but after our first experience, we were excited to find the right setting). The round stone looked horrible in the setting and we took it back to show him the discrepancies. Michael proceeded to say that we knew exactly how it was going to look and that the setting we chose was made for a cushion cut stone and that's why it looks off. He also proceeded to say that "it's really just aesthetics and it's fine." For an engagement ring- or any jewelry for that matter- yes it's about aesthetics. Michael also made a comment expressing that he felt we didn't want to spend too much money so he thought it didn't matter too much that the setting wasn't made for a round stone. Michael said that he would change out the basket of the ring with one that is made for a round stone but it would cost us 100 on top of the 700 we already paid him. Michael also said that he doesn't care what we do either way and it's more money for him if we get a new basket. We are completely disgusted that someone would take advantage of a young couple like this and I would most definitely not recommend this place to anyone. More of a headache than anything else and it could have all been avoided if Michael was honest and upfront in the first place. We were hoping to find the right setting and to work with someone with honesty and integrity. Instead we got scammed. read more
