I'll start by saying we had a short time at this restaurant and did not get to experience the full menu! We stopped in on a Saturday night and it was very crowded but we were able to get seated outside immediately. The ambiance indoors seems very classy and beautiful, so it was a little odd that the outside felt so casual, but it was a nice space nonetheless. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive. We got a relish tray with the garlic spread, carrot muhammara and the olives. Overall everything was very good but nothing wowed us for the price it was. I let our server know I had celiacs so I was just going to eat the spreads without the bread and was fine with that and she insisted on bringing out a crudite for me which I thought was very nice. I was incredibly disappointed later that the crudité was charged on our bill as this was not communicated with me. We got an old fashioned and a gin based cocktail and both were incredibly tasty! Overall for almost 100 dollars with tip, I don't think our experience was enough to bring us back, but sounds like a lot of others have had incredible meals here! read more

Midway down an adorable alley lined with bars and restaurants, you are already setup to enjoy the restaurant when you enter the space. It's sophisticated and whimsical at the same time. Sunday morning at 11:30, there was no line and still empty tables. We were seated right away. Service was attentive, the food was delish and the menu was awesome. It has been a while since we had experienced a place that checked everything off the list!! For brunch, we had their Caramel Apple Dutch Baby (beautifully served and sinfully delicious), Shasuka (perfectly spiced) and Burger Box (unique flavoring). Coffee was served in darling teacups that the restaurant had sourced from local estate sales. They were on the smaller side, but our waitress always managed to keep them topped up!! Early dinner here on a Tuesday night before the Cavs game. Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff. The open kitchen is really fun to watch and the food is easily share-able so you can try many different things. The music was a little loud because we were early-- would probably be less so if the entire place were packed. The ambrosia cocktail was really good and we started with jammy eggs, chips and salami, farmers cheese and the carrot mahammara. The Mahammara was the best thing I ate all night! The farmers cheese was a close second. The toast was drizzled with olive oil and grilled. Delicious. The jammy eggs were more runny (no yolks) and the chili sauce was very bland. It was next to something crunchy so I kept thinking I was crunching egg shells. I would pass on these. My husband enjoyed the tartar and we split the fried chicken, which comes with a very hard crust fried in bacon. It was okay but I would try something different next time. Cordelia has been at the top of my list to try since before it opened on my birthday in 2022; I'd been following the concept on Instagram. Well I finally got the opportunity to dine here and it was so much better than I could've ever imagined. We sat at the kitchen counter, and were promptly greeted by our server, Hannah. She was welcoming, friendly, helpful, and did a fantastic job. Since everything on the menu sounded good, we decided to do the Bellie Up tasting "menu" which we found out the chefs curate on the spot for you, as each course is a surprise. We were asked if there was something we absolutely couldn't miss (burger box and skyline dip) and about allergies etc. Then we ordered drinks and the fun began! Btw- Drinks were a knockout (thanks Lennon), amazing mocktails for those of us doing dry 365. All of the courses were brought out, and described, by members of the kitchen staff. They all seemed to love what they were doing and were very friendly. Our meal, brought out in five courses, consisted of the Skyline chili dip, carrot muhammara, Farmers cheese spread, burger box, overdressed greens, pork belly, mushroom toast, ham hock, cauliflower, and two desserts. The food was even better than I had anticipated, I didn't want to stop eating. I absolutely cannot wait to go back. We wanted to save room for each course, so Hannah boxed everything up, including fresh crackers and toast (!!!). Everything, down to the smallest detail, was so perfectly thought out. From the decor, to the plates, to the plating, to the perfectly paired ingredients, to receiving clean silverware between each course.... I was blown away. Cordelia describes themselves as "Midwest nice" and tbh that's the perfect description. While I'd consider this fine dining from a food/service perspective, it was not stuffy or pretentious, and instead felt like going "home" and I felt a wave of nostalgia. Wow! I was so impressed by this place! The music, the vibe, the staff, the food, the drinks all 5/5. We did the tasting menu, my husband and I are avid foodies and this knocked both of our socks off. For drinks, I tried the solstice margarita and it was lovely. Very refreshing. My husband did the draw blood and it was so unique! My favorite thing from the tasting menu was the burger box and the pimento cheese dip. My husband loved the burger and the pierogi. Our server was Lexi C, she was amazing. Truly phenomenal dinner! Spectacular on all three fronts of food, service, and ambiance. We enjoyed our summer experience on the patio with our five-month old. You enter Cordelia's and find yourself in a wonderland of delightful cocktails which tickle the tongue, glorious "snacks" that cause you to hear the term as a liturgical blessing, and mains which undermine the very Protestant notion of Original Sin. The ambiance is good enough to make even slightly overweight balding dads taking their daughter to college feel hip. The service is great. The food is great. The drinks are great. First you need to know this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail is impeccable. I was a walk-in on a Friday night and was able to sit at the bar. It's a really great bar with plenty of room to enjoy a full meal. This was my first visit and I decided I had to order the "Bellie Up" tasting menu. The service is impeccable. Haley was my bartender and she was honestly out of this world. Super personable and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and perfect cocktail and wine pairings for the menu. The cocktails were really wonderful, my first drink was a Saz Who? And it was amazing. OMG this might just be the most amazing and extensive tasting menu I have ever had. There was so much food I thought I was finished halfway through. There are five courses plus dessert (I honestly thought five different items and I was wrong). First course was Pimento Cheese and Chips + Coppa. Second Course was Pea Toast. Third course was Beef Tartar and Over Dressed Greens. Fourth course was Dee-Jays Sausage and Asparagus with Labneh. Fifth course was Corned Lamb and an amazing potato au gratin. For dessert I had their Cereal Bowl Pot de Creme and practically licked the dish. Every single item was delicious and I love that the menu is always changing to give the guests the best dinning experience every night. I SO wanted to like Cordelia. This is our first visit to Cleveland, and based on the menu, photos and Yelp reviews we made dinner reservations weeks ago at the "kitchen counter". In summary the food, or more specifically the food we actually received, lived up to expectations. Unfortunately though, our service was poor, far below expectations. Let's start with our table. The kitchen counter experience was not what we anticipated. Yes, we directly overlooked the chefs preparing dishes, which is always interesting. But unlike many other restaurants with such tables we had no interaction with the chefs, and I mean zero. The high-backed chairs at the counter were less than comfortable and crowded very close to one another. We looked longingly at the open cocktail bar as well as other tables and wished we had sat elsewhere. And then, sadly, we received a "vanishing act" from our server. I believe it was a combination of factors, she was busy serving the counter and several tables, some of whom were clearly regular patrons including one couple celebrating an engagement. The result is that we were essentially ignored throughout the evening. Our drink orders were late. Most of our food orders did arrive fairly quickly, albeit virtually simultaneously, also not ideal. EXCEPT that is, for the Pork Belly. This was the single entree I was looking most forward to trying. It never arrived. Thirty minutes after our other plates were served, we asked the server and she said "it's coming, some items take longer than others to prepare." Some time later, we actually did see a pork belly plate brought forward from the kitchen which was set aside, but a server never picked it up and it eventually disappeared back into the kitchen. We tried to follow-up again.but our server proved evasive. Eventually we resorted to finding the Floor Manager in order to pay our bill (and provide our feedback.) I do believe Cordelia is a very good restaurant. My wife especially loved the carrot muhammara, it's truly a great dish. But for us the evening was regrettably a disappointment. read more

Stopped in for a quick solo brunch meal during a Browns game. Vibes are still immaculate. I love the music they play. I got the from dusk til dawn cocktail, which is their take on an old fashioned. Great flavor, but it is VERY boozy. To be fair, the menu and bartender both said this, I ordered anyway. I had to add for a little extra simple syrup to bring it down. I also got the mcbarret sandwich, their take on a McGriddle. It was fantastic. The cheesy egg was fluffy without being runny. The bread was a thick, fried, French toast and was so good. An ever revolving door of Midwest culinary pride. I've frequented Cordelia for brunch, dinner, and their Bellies Up tasting menu and have been progressively awed by the creativity that goes into their dishes. It's East 4th, so parking is going to be a pain. There is a valet option along the street if you're willing to use that option. Moving on. The aura in Cordelia is nostalgia. Your grandma's kitchen with some street culture flair, touches of kitsch. Hip hop hits from the 90's and aughts grace your ears. Seating ranges from booths, traditional tables, high tops, and kitchen or bar counter. For the tasting menu, sit at the kitchen counter to get the full experience. The tapas-style menu is meant for sharing, so bring friends. Oh, and it also changes seasonally so don't get too attached. Reservations are recommended since Cordelia's been buzzy since opening, and the James Beard nominations aren't slowing them down. Brunch will be a little less busy if you're feeling a walk-in, and this was my first and most average of my three experiences. Fortunately it was also my introduction to their Jammy Eggs and Carrot Muhammara, which have been reliable sources of pleasure in subsequent visits. This is your cue to order these. The Jammy Eggs play with your senses, incorporating little cronchy bits of furikake with potent dill and creaminess of soft boiled yolk. The remainder of our orders - their takes on a breakfast sando, grilled cheese, and Dutch baby, were heavy and carby. Though sparks of creativity were present (kimchi tomatoes, hot sauce mayo), overall it felt like overdressed brunch. I returned for dinner a few years later and felt like the kitchen had finally hit their stride, as had the beverage manager. I very nearly ordered seconds of the seasonal citrus salad because it was just THAT good, and both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of some perfectly blue cocktail with some astronomy-inspired name sent our table into a binge frenzy. The Bellies Up menu is $90 per person and a fun way for the kitchen to show off the full range of their artistry. You don't know quite what you're gonna get (especially since you'll get some off-menu items), except a boat-load of food within whatever dietary restrictions you give them. We were started off with several of their starters, including an interesting chili cheese dip featuring saltines that were deep fried to give them a particularly satisfying crisp. The dishes did tend to skew cheese and red-meat heavy, and me not being a particular fan of either lamb or cheese, still found joy in the curried cucumbers in their over-dressed salad and the fun lamb hot pocket concept. The Cauliflower is another long-time favorite that the chefs swear will never leave the menu due to it's explosion of flavor and texture and a welcome balance to the heavy palate. We particularly enjoyed the ham hock and the fun chicharron-elephant ear like dessert at the end. More than just the food though, I do appreciate the eye for details and conservation. They truly try to incorporate every part of their ingredients into cooking. The chefs (especially the smashburger cook) were a treat to watch as they prepped and cajoled each other. Past menus are recycled into grease absorbers for dishes, and what a truly lovely, eclectic assortment of ceramics they have. There is an elevator down to the basement so that the bathroom is ADA accessible, although I do wish they had more than one stall for the women's restroom. It's a rather cute, vintage bathroom though, with unique sink taps. Can't wait to see what comes next for this E 4th gem! read more

What a fantastic bun on that burger! They could make a fortune selling burgers with that bun...but first: They gotta stop replacing the flavor and acid in their pickles with green dye. This burger needs acid desperately. They gotta provide the burger flipper with salt and pepper shakers. They gotta add fat/moisture. The cheese lost its flavor during dehydration...first time ever I'd describe a burger's ( or any food's) flavor as 'dry'. But that bun... EDIT...just re-read some positive reviews. We had a great time watching everything being prepared, and watching all the dishes passing by on their way to the dining room. We got the Belly Up - the $90/person tasting menu. OMG... it was a ridiculous very generous amount of crazy-good food. One of the best values in a tasting menu I've ever had, and worth MORE than every penny we paid. We think we had 10 or 12 different dishes, but it was so overwhelming (in a really good way) that we're really not sure. Standouts: Farmers cheese with z'atar and garlic honey on grilled bread Carrots Muhammara, OMG they were great. Grilled Bok Choy with giardiniera Pork belly Other dishes were plenty good too - Skyline Chili dip, fried chicken skins, jojos (breaded hard fried potato wedges), We got a taste of the bone marrow pot pie thanks to the folks dining next to us - it was really good. The burger box, which is probably their most ordered dish - wife loved it, I was only OK with it. I wasn't blown away and will save my calories and fat grams for other menu items. We were also served 2 delicious desserts. Yes, we were served full portions of all of these (except the pot pie). It was incredible, generous, and a little overwhelming in a very good way. We got to see every dish heading past us, so next time we really want to try the cauliflower, overdressed greens salad, mushroom toast and jammy eggs. And I'm quite intrigued by the corned lamb. This is a "monkey and a dart menu" - you could have a monkey throw a dart at the menu and whatever it hit would be delicious. We will absolutely, positively get the farmers cheese and grilled bread, the carrots, the bok choy, and the pork belly again next time - all were among the best things I've eaten in my life. I was very excited to be dining here especially after reading all the reviews and since it's led by a James beard finalist. To cut to the chase with some highlights--to me it was overall a disappointment. From the outset we had to wait over 15 minutes for a reservation I'd made. I always find this an off putting start to a meal. All 3 of us ordered the $90 tasting menu, our only food restriction was no pork. The trio of carrot muhurrama, farmers cheese and jammy eggs was the only course I truly liked: very clever use of ingredients (carrots and hazelnuts!) The staff who brought out the food seemed to be reciting the descriptions from rote, with little enthusiasm and at a speed that required me to ask them to repeat themselves bc I simply couldn't catch what they'd said (I'm a native English speaker). A lamb pasta dish was probably good but it was served so cold the lamb meat was almost inedible. A dish of dressed veggies was simply an overdressed salad with so much salty cheese on it, one would need to take blood pressure medicine if they consumed all of it. The Zaatar fried chicken was perfectly cooked but so bland that I wished I'd kept some of the excessive cheese from the prior salad to add flavor. A bok choy dish was similarly confusing as the prevailing sentiment was one of a glorified vinegary chow chow. The bone in Brussels sprouts were a hit-I enjoyed the spicy sauce countered by the apples (I assume?) giving relief to the palate. The tiramisu ice cream was forgettable. The plate of dirt was my favorite dessert--the mousse was very light and airy. The churros was ok. Overall, I was disappointed and would recommend against the tasting menu as value and taste are simply not there for $300. Perhaps a La carte is the way to go. Great place in downtown Cleveland for brunch! The cappuccino was amazing - everyone had a different thrifted cup. The jojos were a MUST get - they were so large! Best to spilt these. Loved the French toast fries. All the meals were large enough to spilt with others at the table. Was nice to try everyone's meal! I had the best time at Cordelia's! We got the popcorn gnocchi, delicata, bone in Brussels, cauliflower, and jojos. Everything was absolutely exceptional. Defff recommend coming with a group and splitting plates. Cocktails were delicious as well! I loved the thyme after thyme. read more

Another great experience at Cordelia. The place was packed on a Saturday night in January so book ahead. I suggest ordering three apps, a veggie, and a large plate to split for two people. The food combinations here are unbelievable. The staff was extremely knowledgeable on each menu item and made it easy to order. read more
