The location was on the back of a building along Randall Rd. There was a lighted sign which helped. Yelp directions got us there. The cafe was modest size with about 6 tables. Food was ordered along a counter. Ingredients were fresh and good quality. The service was good and the staff very pleasant. The wait time for the food was appropriate considering everything was made from scratch. I ordered a Cuban sandwich. It was delicious and was served with a side (I chose potato salad). There were cucumbers, tomato, and pickle as a garnish. My friend had the California Chicken Club and commented that there was fresh chicken breast not just lunch meat. We both enjoyed having lunch there and would return again. I recommend this little cafe. They also seemed to have many customers who picked up food for carry out.

If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. This was one of the worst customer…read moreservice experiences I've ever had, and what happened could have had serious consequences. I ordered an Original Pizza Melt for my son and made it very clear that I wanted only sauce, cheese, and bread. I specifically told the employee that I did not want any meat or other toppings because my son has food allergies. This wasn't just a preference--it was for his safety. Despite giving clear instructions, they completely ignored my order and loaded the sandwich with ingredients I specifically asked them not to include. When I got home and opened the sandwich, I couldn't believe what I saw. It was completely wrong. At that point, the food was unusable because my son is allergic to several of the ingredients they put on it. A mistake involving food allergies is not something to take lightly. Restaurants have a responsibility to pay attention when customers make allergy-related requests, and this location completely failed to do so. I called the store expecting them to make things right. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable--I simply wanted a refund because the mistake was entirely theirs. Instead, I spoke with an employee named Mai, and she was unbelievably rude from the beginning of the conversation. She immediately refused to refund my money, didn't apologize, didn't seem concerned that the order involved a child with food allergies, and offered no solution whatsoever. I even explained multiple times that my son could not eat the sandwich because of the ingredients they added, but she showed absolutely no empathy or concern. Instead of taking responsibility, she told me I would have to contact corporate if I wanted to file a complaint. When I expressed how ridiculous that was for something that was clearly the restaurant's mistake, she basically told me, "Tough luck." I have never been treated with such disrespect by a business. Good customer service means owning up to mistakes and fixing them--not dismissing customers and acting like their concerns don't matter. What makes this experience even worse is that the issue involved food allergies. If a restaurant can't follow simple instructions that are clearly given, it puts customers at risk. That's unacceptable. A simple apology, a refund, or even a replacement would have gone a long way, but instead I was met with indifference and hostility. I will never be returning to this location, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone--especially if you or a family member has food allergies or dietary restrictions. If they can't be trusted to prepare an order correctly or handle a legitimate complaint professionally, they don't deserve your business. Save yourself the frustration and spend your money somewhere that values customer safety and treats people with respect.

Family dinner was a breeze today thanks to a promotion at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria! All it took was a…read morequick trip to this location for pickup. Note: this location is pickup-only--there's no dine-in. To make the most of the deals, we placed two separate pickup orders and were able to score both a promotional medium deep dish and a personal deep dish in one trip. Tip #1: Mark your calendars for June--National Cheese Day is when Lou Malnati's usually runs a great promo: buy one medium pizza, get a free medium cheese pizza. My husband spotted it on Facebook, and we ordered a medium Chicago Classic ($26) with their delicious sausage and got a medium cheese pizza (valued at $22) for free. Tip #2: Always order through the Lou Malnati's app. You'll earn points and get extra perks--like a welcome offer when you sign up. We received a deal for a free personal deep dish or small thin-crust pizza (with a $10 minimum purchase), valid for 14 days. We used that reward to place a second order for personal deep dish Chicago Classic ($12.95) and a personal deep dish Sausage ($12.20), and the app applied the $12.95 credit to our subtotal. I had expected it to apply the lower amount, but actually applied the higher amount which was great. Tip #3: When placing your order in the app, it defaults to in-store pickup. If you want curbside, you'll need to log into your account on a browser to update the order and switch it to curbside pickup. It's a little workaround, but it will work for you if you needed to just stay in your car. The only downside was the curbside pickup experience. After arriving and marking "I'm here" in the app, nothing happened--the app didn't indicate anyone was coming so we waited a few minutes and called the store and they said they will come out. They were friendly and quick so we had a good experience on this run. I do wish this location offered dine-in, but it's a smaller space and currently set up for takeout only. Overall, today was a win. Thanks to Lou's promos, we had enough deep dish to feed our family of six. We finished one medium deep dish pizza in one sitting and still had a medium and 2 personal deep dish pizzas for leftovers (this week's lunch is set!). The kids and our moms really enjoyed the pizza, we had Italian café music playing in the dining room and it turned into one of those simple, cozy nights that just felt special--la dolce vita!

The eatery specializes in the local favorite, Italian beef sandwiches, slow roasted thin sliced beef simmering in a rich au jus, nestled in a French roll. Those in the know ask for their sandwich "submerged" meaning the entire sandwich is dipped in the au jus before serving, which makes a wet but delicious sandwich. Some opt for the "combo" version, which includes a spicy grilled Italian sausage laying in a bed of the beef. That's some good eating. You can order yours topped with a blend of melted cheeses and if you like sweet or hot peppers. Some like to combine the peppers. Other offerings include traditional Chicago style hot dogs (mustard, relish, onions, celery salt, tomatoes, sport peppers, pickle), burgers, chicken sandwiches, Italian sausage, grilled cheese and fresh cut fries. which truly are, hot from the fryer and perfectly seasoned. Beef Shack is active on social media, and post daily specials on Facebook. During the course of a week, generally one day they offer $1 hot dogs, another day $5 burgers, one day $1 milkshakes, and other days discounted family sized meals. Check their FB posts for current deals. Friendly people, immaculate facilities, and freshly prepared food at a great price point. I love their Chicago dogs and fries. Great milk shakes, too.
