After hiking all the way up and down Mt. Wilson my buddy and I were starving. We wanted something healthy and found corfu on yelp. Things started off disappointing. Once we pulled up the restaurant it looked kind of closed because nobody was in there. It was around 5:45 so we beat the crowd? Anyway, once seated I couldn't help but see how in need of a makeover the restaurant needed. Nothing screamed Greek to me. The only thing that was Greek aside from the food was the music. They had local art on the walls for sale which I liked but it was of musical instruments such as Saxophone and guitar. After I was seated, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands which is past the kitchen. I looked in and saw two microwaves. I understand this is not a Michellein restaurant with Wolfgang puck in the back but restaurants and microwaves aren't a favorite mix of mine. We decided to order for starters: Soujuk Mediterranean- beef sausage with tomato. Another similar food was the Maaneh Lebanese sausage sautéed and served with lemons. The Soujuk was my favorite because it had a little kick to it. They both tasted the same for the most part. We realized we pretty much ordered the same thing just prepared differently lol. For my entree I ordered the Lamb Kebab that was "flame broiled new zealand lamb, served with tabbouleh, rice and vegetables, tyme & sesame mix" Part of my rice was cooked all the way, other parts were undercooked. The lamb was alright but needed a bit more seasoning. It was prepared fine but nothing exciting about it. I can't tell if they are hurting for business and staff but all these reviews suggest otherwise. I just wish it wasn't so boring inside. One day after a long night of hiking, my hiking buddies wanted to go grab some Greek food. Now I never been a big fan of greek food, not many of it around where I live and also not a lover of tahini and hummus. So when we got to the restaurant it was a weekday and about to close for the night, though it was still early. Anyways the kitchen decided to stay open per the server, however was not offering all the foods on the menu, including Gyros. No gyros at a greek restaurant, thats like no tacos at a mexican restaurant. Anyways due to my chicken fetish, I decide to get the chicken kabob.First they brought out some bread and hummus. Like I said earlier Im not a fan of hummus, but I was amazed at how good this hummus tasted, so much so I just kept eating the bread with it and when my dish came ate my chicken with it. When my main dish was arrived, I dont know if was hunger or it was just so hella tasty, because I gobbled it up like it was no tomorrow. The atmosphere was easy and relaxed. I went on a late Sunday afternoon. The only thing that jilted me was that the service, although consistent, was a bit disjointed and there was not clear communication between any one of the servers. I hate to say this...but the busers should not be able to deliver drinks if they can't speak proper English. This caused a great deal of confusion that didn't need to happen. They ( servers and busers) were extremely friendly and courteous nonetheless. As far as the food: There was a great selection of authentic Greek/ethnic meals. Yelpers let me down! This place is a definite PASS for me. I went with my family here for dinner, expecting it to be pretty darn good and was quite disappointed. Service Attentive, great...except they couldn't tell me anything about the imported beers they had on the menu. Food They carry Paradise Tropical Iced tea and it is SO disappointing. Tastes smokey and not freshly brewed...and like the container it probably sits in overnight. They have a lebanese pilsner called Almaza which was nice and light (if that is your style). They had another import on the menu but were out (disappointing). Hummus is standard. Cheese dumpling appetizer on the menu was OK. A little chaulky. The portions are SMALL. They serve an $18 kabob combo on an 8" plate. The chicken kabob was delicious. The steak was bland. The lula was overpowered with the taste of herbs rather than meat and was dry. My "Greek" salad was doused in clearly store-bought dressing. It was so familiar..probably Kraft!! There was nothing Greek on it except for feta cheese. So expensive ($10!!) for a sub par salad. Ambiance The tables are tiny. I was tucked away next to a wall and started getting claustrophobic as I was finishing my meal. They really need to invest in larger tables!!! Love this little place. I usually get the souvlaki, beef kabob. The beef is always tender, and I love the grilled pepper, onions, and tomato they serve with it. Their hummus is so smooth and tasty. We've also tried the sampler platter, and I love the kofta. Delicious. Service has always been good when we go, if a little frazzled when they get busy. But, they are always friendly. Right in the heart of Sierra Madre lies Corfu, a little Greek hole in the wall. With out door seating, umbrellas, tea lights, and all white decor this place is almost begging you to give it a try. You will probably be greeted and served by Nate, who is wonderful. All the food here is to die for. I am obsessed with their hummus and pita. We had chicken and dolmas as well. I'm salivating just thinking about the food. After we were done, we asked for to go boxed so we could enjoy the food a second time (you know midnight snack). Nate being the sweetest took our plates put them in boxes for us and even made sure to put some fresh warm pita in there! "I didn't want you ladies to have cold pita" he assured us. But here are a few things I would try to improve here: 1) Loved sitting outside, but the outdoor furniture was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Their chair really hurt my butt!!! My friend thought the seating was uncomfortable too... so it wasn't just me. 2) Maybe label which dishes are gluten-free with GF... that would be super-helpful. For instance, I was convinced that TABOULE salad was GF... but I later found out that there is wheat (Bulgur) in it... whoops!!! 3) Maybe some subtle music in the background? Jazz? Ambient? Without blinking an eye, they offered to run next door and get a bottle to open for her - despite indicating she only wanted a single glass!! After a long week of "remembering" our perfect meal we have come back again for another outstanding experience. So far we have ordered The Chicken Breast Kebab, The Beef Kebab, and the Greek Dinner Salad. It's all really fresh and great quality food with amazing flavor. Ordered the lamb kebab and calamari appetizer. Disappointed in both. First the calamari: the way to make good calamari is to not treat it like it's fish and chips. The batter...there was so much batter that it masked the presence of any squid somewhere deep in its insides! The dip was an off-the-shelf seafood sauce. Good calamari is lightly battered so you can actually see tentacles, etc and comes w tatziki sauce that is thick and rich, not this half-ass cocktail sauce that you bought at Ralph's! Red sauce isn't even Greek for the love of God. It's the Italians that do it this way. Next, the lamb kebab! Oh my God! No taste whatsoever. In spite of what looked like a lot of marinade, there was no taste at all; same with the hummus. I'm sorry but the reviewer who said AMAZING Hummus must have never had good hummus in her life! The only parts of the kebab that were mildly palatable were the rice and the tabbouleh (which was at least a day old, judging by the dark green color of the parsley). Fresh tabbouleh is made AND SERVED the same day. Never coming back here again. Corfu catered my wedding. And the food and service deserves 10 stars!! With less than a month to find something tasty, knowing I wanted Mediterranean cuisine, I was so worried I wouldn't be able to find what I wanted. As a bride with million dollar taste on a budget I was so grateful that the owner and amazing chef was willing to work with my budget. I swear my mouth is watering thinking of my reception food of tabouli, hummus, amazing garlic spread...the muttabal eggplant dish, chicken right off the grill was juicy, no dry pieces and seasoned to perfection. The tri tip was an all around favorite, tender, juicy, flavorful too!! The rice was good and everything was in abundance. Oh we also had an amazing salad, fresh and delicious. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the large peppers but I'm sure they had to be on par with everything else!! This review is strictly for their catering. We usually cater from them once or twice a month and I don't even remember them being ON TIME once. They usually run a bit late so if you're planning on getting catering from them I would suggest scheduling it for at least 15 minutes ahead of the time you actually want the food delivered by. I love the rice and the fried calamari from here. The meat is usually very tender and juicy but the last time we got them the beef was a bit dry but the chicken was very good and flavorful. Wasn't able to review this place when i went a few weeks ago... Located in Sierra Madre, this little Mediterranean restaurant is a gem... My daughter and I stopped in for dinner...there were a few couples dining when we were greeted immediately. The customer service was attentive and pleasant. My daughter ordered the spaghetti pesto and I ordered the Fattoush. The fattoush was tasty and definitely filled me up...or was it the warm pita bread and hummus that did it, I don't remember, but it was delicious! My daughter was a little surprised at her meal which was basically spaghetti noodles and pesto sauce, but she said the taste was good and she ate it all, so that's a thumbs up... Came here for dinner before Friday services. The service was very slow because they claimed that they have big orders to go. But the food was good. We had cheese appetizer, chicken kebab and lamb kebab. Lamb and chicken kebab were outstanding. Rice and fries ($1 extra) were also good. The prices were very reasonable and food got us very full. The service needs to improve for dine in customers, and not be solemnly focused on to go orders. I was simply passing by this restaurant because I was in the area. I saw the photo of a Gyro on the menu so I ordered the Gyro. I didn't even look at the price because I was simply very hungry and it was very hot outside so I didn't want to bother going around looking for other places, so I ordered the Gyro. Three minus. We had a little more than an hour before we needed to head off somewhere when we sat down, and in a cafe-type setting like this, we were thinking, "No problem!" A waitress took our drink order, and 10 minutes later, nothing. Another waitress ended up bringing it to us and subsequently took our order. Ten minutes later, the other waitress also tried to take our order. Umm, too late. Our appetizer (a simple cheese in pastry thing) took 30 minutes to come out. At least they also brought with it the pita (weird), hummus (average), and tabbouleh (average) that came with our entrees. They kept apologizing saying they had a lot of to-go orders and a small kitchen, but come on, you also have a place full of live people who will likely tip you more if you don't make them wait exorbitant amounts of time for simple food. They gave us baklava as an apology (which I'm sure they did to every party there that night). Another 30 minutes later came the entrees. While the food was pretty good, the wait was ridiculous, and I don't think I will be returning anytime soon. Maybe unless I get the stuff to-go and get prioritized. My husband and I live about 30 miles east of Sierra Madre, but happened to be in the area (and happened to have our Entertainment book with us), so we decided that a healthy meal of Mediterranean food would be a nice idea for dinner. We headed up to the major road in Sierra Madre (there's really only one) and discovered a true delight - Corfu. We had our choice of dining areas - inside or out - and we decided on a table in their small but adorable dining room. Outfitted with a number of tables for two or four (they can be pushed together for larger parties), the room has a simple but sun-drenched décor. The menu is extensive and pulls tastes from Italy (Pasta Primavera, Shrimp Linguini), Turkey (Shish Tawook, Imam Bayildi), Greece (Moussaka, Rack of Lamb), Lebanon and other countries as well. The first time we ate there, my husband tried a pork chop special (check the blackboard at the door) and I had the lamb kebab. As I recall, the chops were marinated in a blend of olive oil, mint, and oregano, then lightly grilled. Husband just loved it! The lamb kebabs were the best I have ever eaten - the lamb was sweet and silky - not at all gamey as some lamb can be! We ordered an appetizer of hummus. I am an aficionado of hummus - have even tried making it at home. I don't really know what makes this hummus different, but this is the BEST hummus I have ever tried. It actually has a "bright" taste (wonder if they roast the garlic) and ever so addictive. We were so enthusiastic about it, our server actually brought us a sample of the spicy version. Personally, I thought the spices outshone the simplicity of the tahini, garbanzos, and garlic, but my husband (who loves spicy things) thought it even better than the original. We were so pleased, we actually went back. 30 miles. Los Angeles traffic. No coupon. Yep - we were hooked. I again had the lamb kebab, but husband tried the Lula Kebab. Grilled and spiced to perfection, the meat was so good that even though my husband thought he would take some home, it never made it to the car. Since then, we have gone back to meet with my step-son to eat brunch at one of the outdoor tables on the sidewalk overlooking the main drag of Sierra Madre. My stepson had a traditional breakfast of French toast, eggs, and bacon. I tried the gyro sandwich (delicious) and, frankly, I can't remember what husband ate that time. But we know that we will return! All in all, I would recommend Corfu. It is a small restaurant, but service has always been excellent, even when eating outside. There's a great menu that's posted on their website (along with the prices - much appreciated). Note that tabbouleh, hummus, and pita bread comes with each entrée - but don't hesitate to order a separate plate of hummus if you like the stuff as I do. Because the restaurant is small, it can get a little noisy if it's busy, but I didn't find it too bad - just a warning. Grab a table in front of the windows so that you can watch the world go by, or even eat outside if the weather's nice. The mountain views are spectacular. read more

Worst of all was one of the servers lectured my boyfriend on an illegal left turn we made in front of the restaurant. We were aware of the violation....Had we wanted a lecture on traffic laws we would have gone to the police station. Wait staff should focus on what they know - food and quality customer service! My husband craves real Mediterranean food since he briefly lived in Dubai and absolutely adores Çorfu. I love this place in Sierra Madre and find their service to be impeccable. The staff has been the same over the years which gives you a good sense they enjoy what they do. There is also local artist painting on the wall and they have occasional special events. The food is authentic and very fresh. The humus never disappoints and the kabob's are seared perfectly with a tiny hint of pinkness inside. Must be the tablecloths (?). Not sure. Nice restaurant that doesn't try to jam a lot of tables into it's small eating area, so that one at least feels like there is some elbow room. There is another eating area in the back, although it's dark and not as inviting. The front area has a large picture window good for people watching. I absolutely adore this restaurant. I came in late on a Sunday night about 30 minutes before closing and they were more than happy to serve me. I had the spanakopita and the sun-dried tomato pasta, both of which were delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful, you have the opportunity to walk around the sleepy town of Sierra madre, eat at Corfu, and even have a coffee afterwards. What made my experience even better is that I realized I left my purse there and by the time I got there they were waiting at the door to see if I'd return. They even went to Starbucks across the street to see if I was there to return it.
