I really enjoy dining here, we frequent this establishment (not quite regulars tho)...I read the reviews, obviously there are some hit or miss days so they could probably work on their consistency with customer experience! I like the ambience (quiet and low light, my favorite). I love their food...and their salad bar! The tap beer is ice cold, so makes an overpriced beer mostly worth it...The times I have not had a great experience was due to inexperienced servers. The manager will make it right if something is really wrong...I try to sit in the bar if I can as their bartenders also take food orders and they are pretty great, every time. read more

I was spectical about spending Valentines Day at The Cork-I was wrong. It was the best meal I have had in years. The filet mignon was so tender I could cut it with my butter knife. I haven't had a steak thar tender in 25 years and that was in Jackson Hole WY. SUPERB JOB! read more

First time coming here and probably my last. Friday nite 7pm. Not a lot of cars in the lot was the first sign. Wasn't busy but took the hostess awhile to see us standing there. Restaurant is very dark and grunge looking. Not sure what look they are going for? Rustic or medieval maybe?? Menu items are very pricey. Average menu item I'm guessing is $26. I would say you could save yourself at least $10-15 per plate by going to Texas Roadhouse lol. They do have a salad bar here if that's your thing. Or option of a cup of soup. They said they are known for there prime rib but two hours into dinner service all they had left was medium and well done. Not my thing. So I ordered an 8oz sirloin for 25.95 with the salad bar. Could have had the same steak for 12.95 at TRH. It's fine tho wanted to give it a try. Ordered the salad bar and baked potato. The lettuce on the salad bar was rusty and not fresh. For a $30 meal I'd expect some better quality lettuce mix like a 50/50 romaine blend or something? It was just your typical iceberg lettuce with red cabbage and carrots. Like I said the lettuce was rusty. My gf ordered the French onion soup and it was very salty. They use red potatoes for bakers which is different and they were good. You do get a side of sautéed mushrooms with your steak but be prepared... they are cooked in some sort of wine reduction and tasted sour and very bitter. I was soooo disappointed because I really love mushrooms. Oh and you do get a bread bowl of sourdough bread when you get seated with honey butter. Decided to go here for Mother's Day. So disappointed and felt terrible that we chose to celebrate there. I believe this was the first time they served brunch as there was such a lack of communication among the staff. Food was very limited and seemed to run out and everything was cold or lukewarm. 2 of the 6 people received a refill on water. While we were waiting for the check they finally brought a bottle of water to our table for refills. read more

Came here for valentines day. We made reservation at 8 was finally seated at 8:45. Limited menu for valentines day which is fine because special event. The problem I have is they were out if everything. No Prime rib, no bake potato, no soup, salad bar was empty!!!this meal cost me 200 dollars! And I left hungry!! Never again! Will I go there! If your gonna have a special event with reservation only! Make sure you have enough food for the people that made the reservation. read more

This place sucks!! Any chain restaurant would have been better and cheaper. Food was flavorless, completely bland steaks. Ordered steak and scallops. Received TWO scallops sitting in frying grease! Wtf?!? Steak was a tough old piece of sirloin with zero seasoning. These people don't even know where to find the salt and pepper. Slow service; saw our waiter hitting on chicks in the bar! Bread was decent. Wine was ok but over priced. Would have had a better meal at Golden Coral. Don't waste ur money in this place. read more

Great place with great food! Love the French Onion Soup and salad bar. Wine selection is wonderful along with the cocktails. My prime rib was cooked as asked, just had a bit too much seasoning on it but this was easily fixed. read more

Food was always good. Menu isn't too comprehensive but it is good for what it is. Prefer, actually, sitting in the bar. The "warming" drinks or after dinner drinks are great and the bar is cute, small, and cozy. I have enjoyed drinking here. It is like our own private bar since it is never very busy. Just. Dont. Go. I've got to say what so many others have said here. The Cork used to be awesome. Now, after several tries in the last three years, I find I have to write this. Just don't go. The service is poor. The management nonexistent. The prime rib is inedible. And when both my daughter and I didnt eat more than a bite or two - the server didn't even ask if there was something wrong. Five people. $300. And we ordered only two drinks. The walleye was absolutely atrocious. White. Slimy. Flavorless. It's a sad shame when the best part of a $50+ meal is the salad you have to make yourself from the salad bar. My husband and I just left the Cork'n Cleaver. This was the worst food and worst service we have ever had at any restaurant. The best part was our drinks, which were gone before we were brought any food (which doesn't ever happen). I ordered a sirloin and baked potato. The sirloin was cooked to my specification, but with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever, not even salt and pepper. My husband ordered the prime rib, which was also cooked correctly, but was quite bland, even with the au jus. What was even worse, my husband bit into a bone sliver. To top off our awful food, we were not checked on throughout our entire meal. We were both done eating and had been just sitting there for several minutes before our waitress came back just once. While our waitress seemed friendly enough, she was very inattentive even though it was not busy at all. During her one stop to our table after getting the food (when we were already done eating), my husband informed her we were not pleased with our meal and that he had bitten into the sliver of bone. Her response was to laugh. She did nothing to remedy the situation and did not even apologize. To say the least, we will never be returning and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

First time here it was for our 10th Anniversary. Started the meal off with the salad bar which is the best I have had in a long time. I the main course I ordered the Corks choice, which is a 14 ounce tip of the top sirloin. Ordered it medium rare came out perfectly,. My wife had the stuffed pork chop, it came on the bone and was very moist. She loved it. Only complaint is that it took so long to get our food, about a half an hour. Its also pretty pricey, but for the quality of the food the cost is well justified. Overall we had a very good experience and would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have to admit, after reading reviews on this place my husband & I where sort of expecting disappointment, but a friend had gifted us a $40 gift card just in time for Valentine's Day so we decided to give it a try anyways. To our surprise, we where actually pretty happy with our experience! The food was AMAZING. Like, the best food I've EVER had. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, & even loved the whole no-cell service thing. My heart did stop a little after getting our bill & discovering our total was over $100 for 2 people, I'm not sure we would make a habit out of spending that kind of money on 1 meal (even if it is incredible) but hey, if you're rich go for it! read more

I haven't been here in probably 10 years. Live in Florida and just visiting. Came on a Friday night. The fire places and atmosphere were just like I remember and it's still just a great, warm place. The french onion soup is AMAZING and spot on. The steak was absolutely perfectly cooked. It came with yummy mushrooms that had a savory sauce (not over salted) and the baked potato was even fantastic. (Yes, it is possible to screw that up.) The Cork used to be our go-to big-night restaurant, but we haven't been there in quite a few years. We looked forward to our visit last Thursday ... but we were surprised and disappointed. The server was distracted and the food lackluster. We thought the once-famous prime rib was surprisingly bland and flavorless. Our server did nothing to accommodate a very modest request that should have been no problem at a restaurant of this calibre. The area in which we were seated was very noisy, with tables so tightly jammed together that my neighbor at the next had to stand to let me out from behind ours. It was as expensive as we expected but not nearly as good as the price and reputation seemed to promise. read more

On our second visit for a special family birthday celebration, we were extremely disappointed in the overall dining experience. It seems to be an out-of-date restaurant with big city prices. A $44.99 filet had an odd taste to it that you don't find in quality beef. The steak with shrimp teriyaki didn't seem to have any teriyaki at all. Two other steaks were so fatty that you couldn't enjoy them. We spent $300.00 on dinner for four adults and two children with no alcoholic beverages, one appetizer and no desserts. If that isn't bad enough, once dinner was delivered, our server virtually disappeared. We had to go looking for water and tea refills as well as our check. I just expect more out of an expensive place that bills itself as one of the best. We gave it a second try but do not plan to return. read more

The atmosphere was pleasant enough, although it kind of felt like a dungeon. French onion soup was very tasty. Beer battered shrimp were cooked perfectly, but a little too salty. As far as atmosphere goes it's by far the best place in town. Definitely the best bar in town but it's a little spends. The food is hit and miss. Definitely not as good as it was years ago. The last time I ordered dessert there it tasted like something you'd buy in the freezer section at Walmart,,,, and it was still frozen in the middle. read more

Really disappointed. Amazingly it was busy on a Thursday. The salad bar had brown, wilty lettuce and spinach, some really disgusting pasta salad, basically the worst salad bar ever. I had the steak and "scallops". A $28 meal with an unseasoned, tough and undercooked sirloin steak. It didn't matter how much salt and pepper I put on it! It was scallops because you get two. They were small and overcooked (I guess to make up for the steak). The stuffed mushrooms were disgusting and the rest of the meals were bleh. This restaurant is overpriced and serves mediocre food at best. Do yourself a favor and spend less money for better food somewhere else. read more

I try to stop by the Cork N Cleaver 2-3 times a week for the overall relaxing first class atmosphere while enjoying the delicious steak and/or seafood. I am a huge fan of the center cut steak as it leaves me wanting more everytime. I also recently had the salmon dinner which was amazing. When I get the chance I like to stop by the bar and enjoy a drink while watching one of the two televisions available. kristi and her staff in the bar are excellent. read more

Got a free birthday card so tried the filet medallion .....i didnt know what the cut would be like so i ordered well done....waitress with too tight and too short shorts said nothing.....steak came charred on outside raw on inside....waitress came by and told me "it is hard to get it well done with that kind of cut".....ok why didnt she say that when i ordered it....sent it back....literally came back 30 seconds later still blood red and (my mom tasted it) cold. ....then they said i could have a free dessert.....no sorry or anything else...no "we can cut it up and cook it like steak tips"......no manager coming to say sorry........glad it was free i guess....happy birthday to me......plus the place was so dark you couldnt see anything. ...bathrooms were nasty dirty ....i knew we should have went to mcdonalds! Like the place. Good for a drink, nice atmosphere. Food and service disappointing. People were nice but slow with the food. Saturday night got a steak it was dry, no to little seasoning. Soup was good, steak was weak. It was not terribly busy so the slow food service was odd. If there was a little kick in the pants in the wait staff and cooks it could be great again! read more

Service was okay. Prices are high and the potato choices are baked and that's it unless you want rice, vegetables or couscous. Wife ordered her baked loaded with cheese and bacon bits (suggested by the waitress) for an extra $2.50 and it was not worth it. You get very little melted shredded cheese and what appears to be some bacon bits like the ones on the salad bar. Steaks were cooked correctly but could have used some seasoning. Pickles in my wife's bloody mary were so dried up they looked dehydrated. They brought new ones and said that those should have never been sent out. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past and have always enjoyed our meal and time spent at the cork & cleaver. Last night was different. The service was luke warm at best, they didn't list or know most of the wines on the wine list, they sent someone to our table to give us a verbal list of which he knew very little. The signature meal at cork & cleaver has always been Prime Rib. Not anymore, they serve it only a few days a week & keep this information to themselves until you have wine, ( it took 20 min. Because they don't know wine, we had to try several before settling on a poor excuse for a Merlot), and bread on the table. If the Prime Rib Is as distasteful as the rest of the food in this joint was, I was glad they didn't have any to serve me, My mother in law could hardly cut her walleye, I was ready to put a hook in it's mouth and see if there was anymore fight in it. Our friends steak was so tough and over cooked it was an insult to the cow it came from, I died for this, he would have said. My salad tasted like it had been sitting in a warm room on a bad date, it was wilted to say the least. We talked to the manager about this mess called a meal. He knew we were from out of town and was about as interested in our complaint as he was in getting a root canal. Go there if you like, maybe they just had a bad night but I was raised in a restaurant family and my personal feeling are that they know very little about the cork and less about the cleaver. read more
