I love that downtown Flint has finally started getting a much-needed revamp, and Cork on Saginaw is an excellent addition.The wine selection is great (as expected), and the food offers a unique blend of options (each delicious in its own right). While drinks and food are an intricate part of an establishment, equally important is the staff. I was thrilled when Blackstone's opened down the street, but the service there was so horrendous my family and I stopped going. Similarly, the service at Cork on Saturday night left much to be desired. I understand slow service if the bar is busy, but a slow bar and slow service is beyond frustrating. So slow, in fact, that my friend and I opted to not purchase food and to immediately leave (after waiting for our credit card to be picked up for fifteen minutes). I don't know if we were getting snubbed by the bartender, or if she was just slow for the sake of it, but nonetheless I will be checking to see who is tending bar before taking a seat in the future. read more

I had a chance to make it out there for Flint Restaurant week. I was very pleased with the service. I had the best lamb shanks ever. While Flint is quite a distance from me, I think it will be worth the while to make a couple more trips this year out there so I have another pleasant dinner at the Cork. read more

The drinks are watered down food is better at the torch the chips are about the only thing worth a darn. You pay for more than you get here.

This is one of our favorite date spots. We consistently get the bacon and onion dip and never regret it. It's a blast getting the wine card and sampling a huge range of wines. The staff are super friendly and the owner has a great memory of her customers. A bit pricy, but worth every penny. We have tried a number of main course dishes and never been let down. Has a definite romantic atmosphere, great second or third date spot. If you're not a big wine fan the rotating array of cocktails are great! They change to match the season, which can be very fun. read more

Great idea with the wine dispensary/vending machine. BUT... was there for 45 minutes, no tables or chairs were available (place was full, but it is very small...like a hallway). No server ever approached us the whole time we were there. When we went to the bar to buy our vending card, the bartender acted if we were 'bothering' her because the only place to even get close to the bar was from the server side. Apparently you can only buy cards in $25 or $50 increments and heaven forbid you need to add money to them to buy more wine. We had $0.96 on our card and tried to add more $ to buy another glass, but were told they cannot do that... read more

Was so excited to finally have a nice date night last night and left incredibly disappointed. After enjoying some wine, oysters, and Caesar salad we were served our entrees of their carbonara dish and stuffed chicken. The pasta description should have just been carbon because that was all you could taste. Clearly the pan caught on fire, which happens, so we sent that back and planned on trying the lasagna instead. Then I cut into my chicken to find it in a completely raw state. Not okay, but still shit happens and we both work in the service industry so we get it. Unfortunately, we were turned off enough to decide to just cash out. Our server Anne was sweet and professional and shared that she would talk to Marge or the other manager who was sitting down enjoying some wine at the time. Neither came to the table to apologize or offer any kind of hospitable gesture, which is why I am leaving this two star review. We left feeling like they couldn't care less about our business (I guess ten years will do that to you). They did remove the entrees that we couldn't eat, if that counts for anything...not to me. I was not looking for our whole bill to be comp'd by any means but even a gesture of removing the salad or a simple apology and assurance to come back again would have sufficed. Very disappointing that our time and money meant nothing to them. Will not be giving them another chance. read more

I love the Cork. From the rotating seasonal menu, to the wonderful wines; you'd be hard pressed to get as much bang for your buck in the Flint area. For those who claim that it's too expensive, I have to wonder if they have much experience with fine dining. This is one of my favorite places to dine. read more

This has become our very favorite restaurant. We drive a hour each way to get there. Great people who create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The crowd is diverse and friendly. Wonderful intimate dining. The mussels in white wine were excellent and nice served with toasted bread instead of heavy pasta. The hostess was rude to my group. She disrupted us several times, letting us know our party of four that serendipitously morphed into a party of six was not following her laws of the dining room. She actually made special trips to our table to let us know this. Not exactly a way to make this newcomer feel welcome. We were not loud or rowdy, just a group of friends out enjoying dinner. The Italian Wedding Soup was too salty and uninteresting. It's obvious they're trying and I'm sure sometimes they hit the mark - but I think the priority is to be fancy. Great staff and delicious food. Bartender helped me pair a delicious local wine to a featured baked Asian salmon dish with noodles and cucumber. Great ambiance and music. Total disappointment. Went there with my wife expecting to have a good night and good food, didn't happen, saving us some time to go to Birmingham or Royal Oak. Ignored at the door; until another waiter passing by the end side of the bar pointed out the fact to our waitress that was looking at us for a couple of times. Our waitress approached us, gave us the option (since the place was half full) and we picked the "Jacuzzi"; ten minutes later an apology, can you please move out of the Jacuzzi, forgot I have a reservation. We sat by the entrance on the right: saw the neighbor table enjoyed their food and drinks, while the reservation at the Jacuzzi having their drinks. The Lonely Hearts Club decided to venture here on Valentine's Day (to further torture ourselves, but with a good meal and wine). The Southwest Black Bean Burger was THE best I have ever had. Topped with avocado, tomato, onion, lettuce, and chipotle mayo...it was so juicy and delicious! A side of sweet potato fries came with it. Most of the wines on the menu are served by the bottle, not by the glass, so I opted to drown my sorrows in a bottle of Shiraz. The ugly cry face came later for dessert ;) The lighting was dim and it was the perfect place to take a date or to unwind after a long day. The staff were the utmost professional and I will definitely be back here to nosh on that burger again. It also didn't hit the pocketbook terribly bad either, $33 for the whole night. read more

A nice atmosphere and food is pricey but good, selection is limited and closed on Sunday and Monday. You can watch redwings games which is more than the bar down the street but thats about the only reason Id go there versus the 501. read more

Stay away from the hot crab dip! The pitas were way too salty and the dip was bland & the portion was rather small for $12. Also the butchers ragu was just not good at all & the shrimp pasta dish is not good especially at $20. read more

What a treasure! I have family in Saginaw and they have been talking about going to Cork on Saginaw the past few times I was in town visiting. We finally went a few weeks ago, there were 5 of us. Not only did we have a wonderful meal, the experience overall was really fantastic. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and delicious. The ambience was warm (a little loud at first because it was busy), the staff was super friendly, and the food was amazing. We had the goat cheese bake and deep fried cuban pickles. ORDER THESE! They were both really good but the cuban pickles were next level. For entrees, we ordered the shrimp and grits, a steak, fish tacos, and an unbelievably delicious fried chicken sandwich (my only regret was that the chicken sandwich was not mine!) Dessert we had the lemon cake (even if you don't like lemon, just order it, you will not be disappointed), creme brule, and a croissant bread pudding that was so good, I can't stop thinking about it. If you are in the Flint area, you have to visit this place! I can't wait to go back. read more

I went to this place for the first time with a co-worker and loved it ; I decided to take my husband this weekend and it was totally awful!! First we had to change tables then after we moved the waitress decided that we weren't good enough to wait on cause we waited so long for her to come back and take our drink order but by then we had decided to leave! 8 of us went to the Cork before a performance at the Whiting. It has a very cool atmosphere; we enjoyed that very much. Nice, as there are so few nice dining choices around. Service here was e x t r e m e l y s l o w. The food was mixed. My son had the salmon; said it was overcooked. My husband ordered chicken and the piece was VERY small. The steak orders got rave reviews. Appetizers (don't even remember what we ordered) were ok. Nothing really terrible (except the chicken) and nothing exceptional. We were hoping for more. We mostly enjoyed the experience, but probably will not return soon. read more

First off let me say i think it is wonderful that cork decided to come into downtown flint to revive a downtown area that didnt have any good places at all. With that said cork has alot of kinks to work out. I have been to cork a handful of times and everytime, major issues have surfaced. I am from the metro detroit area which houses great restaurants all over, great service, great food, they are all over the place down here, so i know my food. A huge concern is the service here. Unattentive, not informed, slow, dull. The kitchen has to get it together as well. Food comes out cold most the time, dishes come out at different times when you are with 4 or more and wait time is almost 45 mins,, salad lettuce is old, hamburgers dry and inconsistant, the list goes on. Most of the people from this area know there are really no fine dining places in flint and are just glad to have a new place so i really think they just accept all these mishaps in hopes it may get better. I can honestly say the only positives about this place is the space. It is beautiful, one feels like they are in chicago, new york when dining. Too bad the food and service is not up to par. Hopefully they will recognize these issues and figure out something a little more efficient.... read more
