Really enjoyed our visit to Corkscrew. We had an excellent Charcuterie platter, with excellent tasting meats, cheeses, and some seasonal fruits. I never had Tasso ham or Duck before and it was fantastic. They have a nice wine selection, and an excellent selection of specialty cocktails and a full bar. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on the various cocktails. Their take on an old fashioned was great. My wife had a nice refreshing cucumber/gin drink that was also very good. I work in the area and I've been so excited for this place to open! I've been two times now and it's been mediocre. My server the first time was nice, but also seemed very inexperienced in the food industry, and even with the knowledge of their selections. I understand they're new, and people are learning-but overall it was a pretty good first experience. The truffle fries are amazing! I also got the pub club sandwich and had to ask for some of the aioli that came with the fries to put on my sandwich because it was a little too dry for my taste. My first experience, I'd give a 4 out of 5 rating. Now that being said, my second experience wasn't as good as the first. The bar tender, I didn't catch his name, totally rubbed me the wrong way. Very inattentive, bland, and kind of rude. The place wasn't busy and the moment my friend and I would speak, he'd walk away in the middle of our sentence. His facial expression was not welcoming and he made the experience less pleasing. 3 out 5 experience. HOWEVER, whilst in the middle of typing this review, Sarah came over and is very sweet and made us smile! She is wonderful! Definitely get a conversation in with her if she isn't busy! :) The patio area is nice and relaxing and the whole look of the place is very beautiful! Oh, did I mention the wine? I am happy with their selection and it's going to be very hard not to come enjoy a glass of Estrella after work! I want to love it here. I really do. Unfortunately, I just don't. I've been here three times and while the wine, food and atmosphere are all well and good, the service is just so severely lacking. On my second visit here, I was with a party of 5. We sat on a cute lounger in a quiet corner, and ordered several bottles of wine throughout the evening, along with a charcuterie board and a few flat breads. Several times we had to get up and ask our server (who was less than friendly!) for more water or wine and he was super annoyed each time. My husband arrived late and the server never came to ask if he'd like a glass or another type of drink. After 15 min of waiting, my husband approached the bar to ask for a beer, he was told by the owner to "please go sit" and that our server would be over to take his order. Another 10 minutes later, he finally did and my husband got the wrong beer. When he alerted the server about it, he was told "we were out of what you wanted so I gave you something else" and simply walked off. Needless to say, his tip On the $400+ bill wasn't impressive. I've been anxious for Corkscrew to open because Fort Mill definitely needs another wine bar. And this one also has a full bar AND food - small plates, but you could still make a meal out of the menu. The atmosphere is classy, and the decor is modern with 20ish bar seats; tables, a sofa, and a group table for 10 inside; and lots of tables outside on the patio. However, the sevice is not so classy. If you're going to a wine bar, you wouldn't expect to have a server in a stained, bright blue polo, messy ponytail, and rolled up jean shorts... but here we are. I realize this is petty, but I think it looks nicer (especially at a wine bar) when the staff has some sort of uniform - all the servers/bartenders here were in random clothes, and most of them looked like they had just rolled out of bed. We sat at the bar, and the barstools had a low back, which was pretty uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. And while I was impressed that they had plugs under the bar, there were no purse hooks. What the what?? I'm still glad Corkscrew is in the neighborhood, and I'll give them another shot, but I sure hope they step up their service game by then. read more

The service here is excellent and very welcoming and friendly. Jim Jim Jim and Sarah are always welcoming and make it a fun place to hang out. Lots of nice wine options. There just doesn't seem to be enough seats. Several times we have left because there was no seating and the space seems large enough to add some small tables near the sofa area. omg. the servers here are so rude. we walked in the bartender pointed to a table. She came over and threw 4 menus on the table. Not a word came out if her mouth. No hello, no thank you for coming in. Guys, thank you for an awesome night! Had a couple girlfriends for some wine and apps and we had the best time. Excellent service, top notch staff, and the food was fantastic. We got charcuterie and a flatbread. What i like is that they advertise being a laid-back environment/ "wine pub", so it didn't feel stuffy. The crew was busy, but it's only their second weekend being fully open to the public. Rude!. Brought my wife here for her birthday and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with frustrated looks and rolling eyes. The waitress/manager (yes, manager) barely greeted us and she seemed caught off guard that we were ready to order food along with our drinks. She seemed perturbed that we were ordering both at the same time. I ordered a flatbread pizza for my son - just mozzarella please-- she snapped "you know there's no red sauce on a flatbread!" assuming that we can't read the menu. "It's going to be dry and crispy!" Okay, I said but aren't all flatbreads? We continued with the rest of our order and she continues with the agitated tone and delivery -seemingly bothered by our very presence. After she left the table, I approached her away from my family and asked her why she she was so rude. She began to chastise me and tried to defend her behavior. I walked away and we left. I feel bad I have to post this, but I tried to engage in a constructive conversation with the manager about how she made us feel- but she was aloof and completely disrespectful. We love this great little local wine bar especially because of the first few amazing experiences we had while Sarah was bar tending. She took the time to get to know us and make suggestions. Now anytime we see her, no matter how busy they are, she makes an effort to say hello and greet us with a big smile. Very poor service. We were there for over 30 minutes before flagging down a waitress to place an order. The. It was another 30 plus minutes before we again had to flag someone down to get our check. First time here. I went with my sister and a few friends and we sat outside right by the front door. It took about 10 minutes to get any acknowledgement and another 6-8 minutes to get our drink and food orders in. Then the waitress came back to tell my sister and I that the beer draft we ordered wasn't acting right so we had to grab another one. (I know that ones not her fault). As soon as she got the last drink order she sped off as my friend was about to ask for some water. The place wasn't that busy from what we saw. I had ordered the corkscrew chicken salad sandwich which was supposed to come with chips and angry cucumbers. After a little while our food comes and I didn't get what I ordered. I received a salad instead (which was more expensive than the sandwich I ordered). It took a while for a worker to come around so I can let them know my order was wrong. Then the chef came out to ask how everything was and I told him I received the wrong order and he recited what the order was that was given to him. I told him how I asked for the sandwich. After another little while, I received my order. Lo and behold, the corkscrew chicken sandwich was just a thin spread of chicken salad, no grapes, a wilted piece of lettuce and two cold slices of regular sandwich bread. I didn't get the cucumbers and the chips were literally kettle cooked chips clearly from a bag. The sandwich was extremely dry and I only took a bite before I gave up on the dining experience. My sisters flat bread was super salty too. I would not come back here and would not recommend. Only saving grace was that they removed the sandwich from my bill. Oh and they also screwed up on the bill and gave my sister and I the wrong bill. read more

I was hired to work with no training for New Years Eve. The barback left at 8 pm and the manager gave me a quick review of the computer system because of the huge rush and short staff. I did not lose one check, spill one drink, break one glass, or take one tip as it is a team. At the end of my shift, i was not tipped out for a twelve hour shift with no formal training. I am a licensed bar tender. Many clients wanted to tip me personally but I refused my tips for the policy of sharing tips. If you want a decent job where your skill sets will be utilized, do NOT apply here. You will not get paid for your time, experience, and client satisfaction. At the end of the night, one of the formal bartenders made a racist remark about taking a book, selling it to a n*****, and buying weed. I have never seen such a "shit show" as the manager explained how the evening would go, even though it was mostly successful for the clients.
