So... ordered dinner on solstice to go sit on the beach. What a surprise! I LOVE the Mac & cheese... with lobster. Have had it countless times!!! No where on the menu does it say they have another option ... Mac and cheese without the lobster! Chris the manager was abrupt when I called stating ..'oh yeah! We have Mac and cheese without lobster! No it's not on the menu.' WOW!!! Realized the lobster Mac & cheese ... the lobster is added to the Mac & cheese... it isn't cooked together!!! read more

Hello. I'm a local resident here in Carpinteria. I've heard some mixed reviews over the past couple of years about this restaurant/bar. I had never been, so I decided to go in with an open mind and try it out. The first time I went, the place fairly busy. The service was as good as could be, especially since they were busy. The server was polite, and friendly. I went back about 3 to 4 more times over the past year, one of the experiences was good, while the others were not so good. We sat at the bar, and the owner was just not that nice to us. I noticed she treated some of the patrons friendly, I can only assume they were her friends or people she knows. I know people could be having a bad day but you have to suck it up and put your service face on when running a restaurant/bar business. The owner was very snippy and condescending. How does one want to have a successful business in such a small community, with a bad attitude. We tried a couple of times to give it a shot, but we won't be back. I tried to ignore the things I heard about other people's experiences, but they were right. I really wish Corktree well. read more

My party arrived late so we didn't get to taste the full menu, however the late night food was absolutely amazing. It was a Friday night and the live band that they had did such an amazing job. It felt comfortable warm and romantic. Such a welcoming place. read more

We came here on the Friday of Fourth of July weekend and had a reservation thinking it would be packed but the place was pretty empty. I haven't been here in about 7 years since they changed the menu and was excited to try this place again. The service was not good at all, we ordered our drinks and had to wait 20 minutes for them and they didn't come take our order for forever even though the place was empty. When our margaritas came out the quality assurance was horrible as one of our strawberry margaritas looked completely different than the other one and tasted watery. They never offered to turn on the lights or heaters outside on the patio and we had to ask. For the food, the fig burger was pretty good however a bit dry and not cooked medium rare as I had asked. Wild West burger was delicious! They do have very good fries so I will give them that. The tacos that my mom had ordered were decent but nothing special. I was really bummed about this place because I remember it being really good. Maybe we just came on a bad night with the service not being up to par. read more

HAPPY HOUR win!! The new owner, Andrea, is amazing. Great music, great drinks and fabulous HH menu. Live music on Wednesdays. There's nothing to NOT like about this place. Had the tacos and the lobster Mac from the HH menu, both were delicious! We tried all 4 margaritas. We loved them all, but the favorite ended up being the spicy one with the muddled jalapeños and Tajin rim. Great ambiance! read more

My wife & I just happened to stumble upon this place which was a half block from our VRBO. Andre, the owner, was our bartender. Very personable as was our waiter Chris. The food is very good. Also they have a nice wine selection & a full bar. Would highly recommend you stop in if you are in the area. read more

Best happy hour tacos and artichoke dip. And, yes, we had fries, too. Plus wine. Lovely outdoor patio and a perfect end to our day.

Had planned on going to a different place this evening that was packed. We had walked by this place several mornings and decided to try it. Also very busy, but we were able to get 2 seats at the bar which worked out great as the bartender was the owner. She was so nice and as busy as she was always took the time to chat with us. She also has a lot of really great wines for sale by the bottle at affordable prices. We decided to just eat Tapas as they sounded so delicious. Started with the bacon wrapped sausage which was beyond fabulous and had a sauce that made you just want to pick up the plate and lick it. They gave my husband some bread to dip in the left over sauce (no bread for me as I am Gluten Free). There were 6 sausages on the tray, not two as shown in the picture. We were enjoying it so much, I forgot to take the picture. The second Tapa was Shrimp and polenta!! OMG....large pieces of shrimp in some of the best polenta ever. I had 2 glasses of their sparkling wine and my husband had a glass of Syrah that was delicious. This is our new favorite place in Carpinteria. We will be back here every time we come to Carpinteria, for sure. read more

My husband and I were wandering around Carpinteria during that odd time that comes after lunch and before dinner-- some of you may know it as happy hour. The food listed on the happy hour menu lured us in, in all its delicious and affordable glory. $4-6 dollars for tasty bites such as lobster mac 'n' cheese, spinach artichoke dip with jalapeno, arancini-- You must be thinking, "This is too good to be true!!" My friends, it is real; I highly recommend you go see for yourself. If you prefer outdoor seating, you're in luck! There are tables to seat roughly 30 people outside. read more

Wine selection is very limited. For a "wine bar." Had the "lobster Mac" - was there any lobster? No! Of course not. (I hate when advertising says one thing & delivers another.) $41.00 for Mac & cheese & 1 glass of "passable" wine - seriously?? When the server delivered my food, not a word - just put it on the bar - no utensils - WTH? At 1:00pm, there are few customers - maybe 6 tops. All seniors. Wine I had (cab from Paso Robles) had been opened for a while - kinda funky. Employees seem to & know every word of the overly loud rap-crap. Looking around at the demographics, when every customer is over 60 - why would we want to listen to rap-crap? (I certainly do not!) I think they're playing it to keep their employees entertained - when those employees should be serving their customers or sweeping the floor or doing something to contribute to the business besides rapping, joking, gossiping, laughing. I see NO WORK BEING DONE ... Frankly, these employees are here for a "good time" & carrying on their personal conversations - NOT WORKING. The floors are filthy as is the bar area. Menu items are just right, really nice salads, I love the Bistro Burger, all the Tapas rock the block, like the Lobster Mac and cheese! Complete seafood choices too, including fish tacos. Nice salmon, bacon lettuce and tomato, or the Corktree Steak Sandwich with thinly sliced steak, tomato and caramelized thyme onions on a perfect toasted ciabatta bun. Just right! spontaneously stopped by here. was looking for a restaurant after leaving the Island Brewing Company on Google map. I saw the brief description of small plates which i dig. Nice little wine bar with a cool decor in downtown Carpinteria. I enjoyed some delicious Mac Murray Pinot Nior by the glass. I wish they had more wine by bottle choices on the menu and that they would show off more of the local delicious Central Coast wines, but that's just being nitpicky. read more

Everything we ordered was delicious! The brunch menu has a good variety as well as the lunch and dinner menu. We went on a Sunday and we were seated quickly. The food came out hot and fresh. Definitely recommend the Seafood Eggs Benedict, Seafood tacos, Huevos Rancheros, Avocado Toast, and Lobster Bisque. The drinks were also made wonderfully. Others had a great experience, BUT us not so much. Starting with: We were the first to be seated for lunch out on the patio, BUT we were the LAST to receive our food--Huh? The waitress said she had placed our order on hold since my partner had a soup AND then,she forgot to tell the chef. OMG were we hungry. We loved the lentil soup. But I'm here to tell you, they could have kept the rest of the meal in the kitchen (or garbage!) (see pics) To begin with, my partner ordered a Cobb salad. It came with mixed greens, half of which were rotted and yellow. It had chicken and way undercooked/raw bacon. I had a blackened salmon sandwich. Well I'm here to tell you, the salmon was not fresh. It was shook out of a can and was certainly fishy; plus there was nothing blackened about it. Oh, and my sandwich came with the same raw bacon The waitress came to check on us and I let her know. She offered to redo it. I told here her I just wanted my blackened salmon. She went back and brought it out on a plate the size of a coffee saucer with a tiny piece of canned salmon with blackened spice. They was Nothing grilled about it (the Chopped judges would have had a hay day on that!) Again the waitress apologized, but she only took our soup off the bill. My sangria was so so. My partner had a Smashed Horse... Moscow mule with berries. Hers was good. So to sum up, drinks are decent. But the FOOD was SOoooooooo disappointing. AND to top it all off, the manager/chef went around to all the customers on the patio, BUT he never checked in with us or apologized to us. NADDA! 6:30 on a Thursday - wine with the girls. I have been here a number of times, but the place never really clicked with me. Well, they have worn me down! I am a legit fan. Just a comfortable place to grab a glass of wine (full bar) with a friendly and knowledgeable bartender. This night it was some guy with killer blue eyes and a shirt to match. Personable and friendly. We didn't eat here, although I have before and it was fine; we just had other plans for that night. Try it. Its a great respite in Carp. Their apps include truffle fries, calamari, bacon-wrapped andouille, mac and cheese, flatbread, you get the picture. read more

I do like Corktree but their skimpy fish portions on the fish tacos are absurd!!!! Tuesday night I had the tacos and the fish piece on each taco was literally 21/2 inches long and 5/8ths wide (slightly bigger than a french fry). There was one strip on each taco!!!!!! Probably about $1.00 worth of fish, maybe, on $15 tacos. Please, please go back to acceptable portions! read more

What a great spot for a dinner date whether it's a first date, date night or ladies night out. Beautiful ambience with live music and a wonderful wine selection. Parking was easy and close by. I highly recommend this place. read more
