First off, Carl is the most amazing waiter I have ever had in my entire life and I am genuinely saying this. For a group eating at 3am in the morning, we all are so tired but Carl made our experience there so worth it. The amount of times we shared a laugh with him would make the other customers think we're drunk because it was honestly so fun and, ofc, the food was delicious. The cinnamon swirl french toast are to die for, and the green mint is sooo refreshing. My favorite aspect of my visit to Corky's would definitely have to be meeting Carl, though. Let me start off my by saying that I am more understanding than most about all restaurant experiences. I have worked in the industry for more than 15 years and I am forgiving when it comes to bad service and poor food quality. I intimately understand issues such as being understaffed, slow food timing, long waits, newly trained staff, etc. However, the experience I just had at this location was so terrible that I would be doing the owners a disservice if I didn't let them know what they're up against. First, it took our server more than 5 minutes to acknowledge us, even though he passed by our table multiple times on his way to other tables. The least he could have done was let us know that he was busy and that he'd be there momentarily. I was beginning to wonder if he was even our server. I will say that the food timing was excellent. The kitchen banged out that food in 5 minutes flat. The portions are massive, but who wants a big plateful of mediocre food? The place is on the pricey side, considering the quality of the food they're serving. Trust me, I'm not cheap by any means. I don't mind paying $200 a plate if the food is good, but I'd rather spend $20 on a smaller plate of food that actually tastes like it's worth the price. I had a Chefs salad...and the dressing I asked for wasn't the right one, the cheese had the texture of milk powder, the avocado had skin on it. But more than anything, the level of service we received was unacceptable. After our food arrived, the server NEVER came back to check on us. I couldn't tell him that the salad dressing was the wrong one, so I had to eat my salad without dressing. I also couldn't tell him that I was thirsty, even though he passed by my empty cup 4 times while going to other tables. I was also unable to tell him that he had forgotten my side order of corned beef hash. When he finally acknowledged us again, it was towards the end of the meal and I was about to tell him that he had forgotten my food, but instead he just walked by the table without stopping and said, "oh, I'll bring your bill". One, I didn't ask for the bill, two, I wasn't done eating, three, you forgot the rest of my food, and four, thanks for asking if we needed to order anything else...maybe even dessert since you are a "bakery". Once we reminded him that he didn't bring out the side order, he didn't even apologize and just said, "oh, I'll take that off the bill". The reason why I ordered it was so I could eat it. No apologies, no offers to remake it....just a fly by at the table. And remind you...we still don't have water. I never, ever leave without tipping. Actually, I always tip at least 25%, but this time... And I normally would just talk to a manager instead of blasting them on Yelp, but I couldn't find anyone to pay attention to me. It actually took another 5 minutes of waiting in line just to pay. There were two registers, and two cashiers, but one was busy with a take out order and the other was too busy cashing out credit cards to be bothered by a customer waiting to pay. Get it together guys....it's not rocket science, I promise you. Either hire more severs, or train the ones you have to be better. Figure out how to multi-task. Figure out how to communicate. Figure out how to be efficient and accurate. read more

Decided to give this chain a second chance at a different location. Service:Service at 9 pm on a Sunday was significantly better than we experienced at 10 pm Saturday at the Haven Ave location. Awarding one "well done" to Barbara. Food: Senior menu is moderately discounted from list but serves the full portion, so if you are looking for a lighter meal go to the lighter options page. Turkey and stuffing was ok, stuffing is moderately seasoned and has some diced onion, while the meat appears to be sliced from a boneless rolled breast. Dinner roll arrived warm; downside was slight toasted effect. Have been disappointed by all Denny's along the I-10 between I-15 and Rte 57; didn't care for the Norm's either. This may be at the high end of pretty thin pickings for the genre. read more

I haven't been here in about 6 months. I came on a Wednesday eve and there was about 25 customers in the place. I ordered the "Hand Battered" Country Fried Steak Dinner. The Steak (Cubed Steak) almost filled the entire plate and tasted great!! It came with mashed potatoes and I elected to have the salad instead of soup. I had to order a large bun instead of Corn Bread, Reason: As per the menu, it's just corn bread (Old School), but what you get is Latin Style With Chilli Peppers, Not "Old Deep South/ Georgia Style". The Menu is the same and the food tastes the same. Some of the employees are working at different locations and some are new. read more

What a disappointment. From the forgetful, non-enthused waitress to the bland tasting food it's a confirmation that we need to stick to what we know. Im conflicted on how to review this place. We arrived on a busy Saturday morning for breakfast and were seated relatively fast, so no complaints on that. Once we were seated it took a few minutes to have someone come over to take our order, the waitress seemed overwhelmed with tables, but she was very efficient, fast and friendly. We ordered coffee and since we had a few minutes to look at the menu we also ordered our breakfast. Our server brought out the coffee pretty quickly and we continued to wait for our food to be ready. The coffee here is pretty bad. Not fragrant, does not taste like coffee, very watered down, didn't even drink one cup, just bad coffee. The food came out and as expected the portions were very generous. We were happy with our breakfast and especially with the pancake that we ordered on the side to share between me and my boyfriend. The pancake was definitely fluffy, warm and all around good. Overall, this place has some decent food, terrible coffee, and hectic service. I was left with mixed feelings about this place and may or may not return...well maybe I will for the pancake! read more

We are regulars at the Corky's on Haven, and were very excited when one opened closer to home. Last night was my husband's birthday, and we thought we'd check out the new place. The stars are given because the food is just as good here as at the Haven location. It's consistent, you can order the same thing at either one and know what you're getting. Unfortunately, the service here is absolutely awful. There's apparently only one table for a party of more than 4, because when I told the hostess we had 5 people, her face fell and she said "Oh then there will be a wait for table 20." It wasn't a long wait by any means, but there were several booths and tables available that could have accommodated 5 or more that I guess just must not be used. The table was incredibly unsteady. It wobbled and spun every time someone moved. We had two children clearly pointing at the children's menu when ordering (that will come into play). Our waitress had to come back twice to confirm our drink orders, and then our food took a pretty long time. When it finally did arrive, she had forgotten to include our daughter's dinner on our order, and said it would be out "in just a minute." She handed our son his burger, and my husband commented that it was awfully big for a children's size. The waitress just smiled and walked away. About fifteen minutes later, she hadn't bothered coming back to refill drinks (we flagged down a bus boy for more water) or update us on our daughter's food, so I finally called over a manager. He brought out the missing food, telling us it was being taken off the bill. Which only made sense, because by that point everyone else was done eating, and my daughter had eaten off the other plates because it would've been cruel to make a 7-year-old sit hungry, and silly to let everyone's food congeal and get cold while we waited an absurd amount of time for her chicken fingers. The manager did offer us dessert as well, but didn't bother to tell the waitress (or maybe she was just as forgetful about that as she was about completing our order), and we had to go through it all again to tell her what he'd promised. When the bill came, my son's burger was not priced as the child's menu. At this point, we were just done trying to work it all out and paid it rather than argue another point. If I feel the need to go to Corky's again, we'll definitely be driving a little longer to hit the Haven location. read more

My group went into Corky's today in Upland. Even though we had one food server, we got a rather good service. Laura did not give up and stress out with the amount of orders she had. I got a delicious salad, again. My husband got a chicken taco meal. I ate one of his along with my service and I enjoyed the preparation that went into the making of the meal. Walked in at 10:15 and was seated promptly. Five minutes there and we had our drinks. After 15 minutes we finally ordered food. A sandwich and a waffle combo. After 40 minutes total time of waiting still no food. I asked for my meal to be packed to go and that I would eat it at home. Then the waitress tells me that she just saw it come up. It was too late after 45 minutes of waiting. I can not speak about the food since it was cold and soggy by the time I got home. Very disappointed in such bad service. read more

Ok let me just be as frank as I can, this place is pretty expensive but you do get a lot from what you order. Hot chocolate was amazing but never getting it again when I realized it cost nearly $6 for one. My wife and I got their fish and chips which were made fresh and deliciously fried. My order was this basic guacamole turkey sandwich with fries that tasted decent. The problem we had was we ordered too much thinking the portions would be smaller but had to get several to go boxes. To top it off they had a decadent and savory artichoke dip in a bread bowl that we enjoyed. We ended up easily spending $50 without realizing it and is the main reason we won't be coming back is simply because of the price tag for every little thing. read more

Went to the new Corky's today and brought back lunch for everyone in my office. Everyone said the same thing. 3/5 stars. Nothing special for the price. I got my usual ham & cheese omelet that I get from the other locations, and this was the worst one I've received. The eggs weren't fully cooked and were runny around the edges. This place has been open for less than a week so I'm not going to rule out going back. Maybe give them a month or so to work out all the bugs. Service was great though. They said the order would be ready in 15 minutes and it was ready when I got there. read more

When our waitress brought us our food. my son asked for hash browns, she brought him home fries!!! I will never go back!!! My husband and I had dinner there night, I had the country fried steak and he had the special of the day which was 2 pieces of Cod, four good size shrimp, and a loaded baked potato. I also ordered a chocolate malt with my dinner, which was enough to share with the hubs. Our server was very attentive, every time he passed our table, he asked if everything was alright. Serving size of the food is great, you will not leave here hungry. My steak was crispy, and the gravy covering the steak and mashed potatoes tasted wonderful. My husband's dinner was huge as well. Dinners come with soup or salad, plus cornbread or biscuits that are made on sight. We both chose to have salads and we both chose the biscuits. Biscuits were light and fluffy, and of course huge. I do wish the salad had more greens than just ice berg lettuce, I am not a fan of ice berg lettuce, I should have gone for the vegetable soup. The decor is country style and the booths are big and comfortable. You will not leave this place hungry! read more

Heard from my parents that this place was pretty good, decided to stop in on a Wednesday for a quick breakfast. Seated right away, drink order taken and delivered quickly. We had been waiting for this place to open for several weeks. While we were not overwhelmed, it was a pretty nice experience. Since my wife and I are both Seniors, we were looking at the Senior menu...but then, my eyes landed on an entree that I absolutely love: Shepherd's Pie! We ordered one to split...we got the entree with a salad and a jalapeno cornbread muffin. The other entrees offer mashed potatoes as well but since the shepherd pie is mashed potatoes on top, we did not get any more! The shepherd's pie was extremely good...plenty of mashed potatoes on top and the ground beef underneath was seasoned and very tasty. My wife also told our waitress to pass along to the manager that she was very impressed with the salad. It was cold, crisp and not watery or brown! We each got a side of our favorite salad dressing and it was plenty to share, We went on Wednesday because we needed to pick up a pie that we had ordered. It was crowded but not too crowded. I likened it to an IHOP or the BC Cafe. Noisy, but not too noisy. The waitress was very attentive and kept checking on us. I was a little surprised that she did not ask us if we wanted any dessert after our meal. I would think that would be required at ANY restaurant. Although there was quite a selection of desserts, we passed (Probably would have walked across their parking lot and bought a Cro-Nut to share at Dunkin Donuts! Now, on the subject of the pie we ordered: I learned that over 1,000 pies were ordered, just at that Corky's! Originally, I was going to order an apple pie because someone else always brought a pumpkin pie. Then, I noticed that they had peach pie...so, that is what I ordered. While I must admit that the pie was very tasty, I was a little disappointed because: one you have experienced a fresh peach pie from that "other" restaurant, everything else pales in comparison! If I had it to do all over again, I would have ordered the apple pie. read more

Our waitress actually came sooner and we pointed out the bug. She apologized and said they were going to throw out the entire pot of soup. What irks me is how the manager responded. "I'm sorry about the bug but there are bugs around us." Are you SERIOUS??? If you have flies floating in the kitchen you need to get your crap fixed!
