Ordered The Original Spires Beefeater as a first-timer here. Figured it must be the specialty of the house. It tasted good but I never did figure out how you were supposed to eat it. Should have taken a picture and saved the thousand words to describe. It was huge. A large amount of beef with a significant amount of cheese was hanging out of a large hoagie style roll that wasn't quite big enough to contain its fillings. Tried picking it up but the beef and cheese just slid out the bottom. Tried cutting into pieces but there was no way to keep it in place while slicing. Finally just opened it up, ate the beef with a fork, and ate the cheesy covered roll like a piece of bread. The kitchen could have at least pre-sliced it. When we got off our flight in California we ordered an Uber. Our Uber driver recommended this place because it wasn't far from where we were going. Once we arrived, we were set immediately. This place gave a mom and Pop diner feel with the baked desserts in the glass case right when you walk in. We ordered some breakfast just a platter with eggs, potatoes, and a waffle. I especially like the waffle and the fact that they put sautéed onions and peppers in their fried potatoes they were delicious . The price of everything was reasonable as well. I haven't eaten here since April. But I saw this evening that the price on the senior dinners is now $13.99, up from $12.99, and after the pandemic they were $11.99 The senior dinners here aren't a bargain like they used to be. The senior fish and chips dinner has been reduced from three pieces of fish to two pieces. In addition the amount of fries is much less now. I guess it's up to the cook's discretion on how many fries you're gonna get on your plate. And a soft drink is $3.99 Now I can see why Spires parking lot is always empty. All the hotel guests on that block are up the street at Dennys, enjoying the $9.99 Grand Slam deals. And an extra 15% off their bill if they present the cashier their AARP card. In addition the dumb voters in Ontario voted for 1% sales increase last year. Dummies just taxed themselves. read more

A cozy breakfast spot with amazing menu options! The service is great and polite. I tried the House Omelette, which comes with avocado and veggies, and it was delicious. Had a spires in my neighborhood when I was younger. When picking up my god dad found that there was a spires open and wanted to feel nostalgic. Came on Monday around 2pm sad to see the restaurant completely empty. Restaurant had nice Americana on the walls just like going back In time. The lady waitress and male waiter were nice and friendly. Ordered a 1/2 sandwich that came with soup n salad ordered the beefeater. Food was bland and needed seasoning. The bread was soggy, and the beef was really chewy. Salad wasn't crisp probably because was put on a hot plate with the sandwich. The Spires near my neighborhood was permanently closed. I had to go to Ontario airport so why not give this place a try. So far so good. The food was as good as I remembered from other location. My wife and I were in Ontario for a horror convention, so we wanted to grab some food before hand so we didn't spend $250 on overly salted pretzels while walking around. We had no idea what was in the area, but when we drove by Spires Restaurant down the street we knew we needed to give this place a shot. From the outside, this place looks like an East Coast diner and that's something we both have a huge soft spot for. We came here around 11:30AM on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised when we walked inside. Not only was this place absolutely packed, but the inside matched the outside and it was just a charming establishment. The menu here was a little bit of everything! From Burgers and Steaks to Salads and Soups, Spires has pretty much everything a person could want and that's perfectly okay when it's a diner. The servers here were friendly and quick to take orders, provide water, and check in on us throughout our visit which was nice, but the most important thing is what came next, the food! The photo below doesn't look like a game changer and it doesn't look like the best burger in the world.....and it wasn't, but it tasted really good and it tasted the exact way I want a burger when it comes from a diner or a similar place. I ordered the "Western Burger" which was basically a cheeseburger lettuce, bacon, BBQ Sauce, and some onion rings on it and it was absolutely delicious. On top of the burger being great, the french fries on the side were thick steak cut and were pretty dang good as well, a great meal! Overall, Spires Restaurant brought me back to 1990s New England in the best way and it's definitely a place I would come back to in the future. Another typical average diner with very friendly staff, a clean dining room with an old school layout/design, and relatively quick but average food. I went with the breakfast burrito and fruit. The portion was large and the burrito was packed with a lot! I wish the hashbrown were crispier but that would be tough to stick into the burrito. The salsa was pretty good that came with it and had a little bit of a kick. They split their U shaped booths in half by removing a table insert, which makes it kinda awkward because you are basically sitting with random people in the same booth. The prices seemed a little higher than nearby diners but nothing outrageous. read more

Burger was nice and big, zucchini sticks were crunchy too! Usually expect soggy zucchini when they get deep fried but this establishment opened my eyes! Was staying nearby at the Shearaton and looking for a good breakfast. I decided to check out the Spires as it is just down the road. First service was great and quick. I got my food in under ten minutes from entering. Second the food was great! In particular the french toast was amazing. They give you plenty and sadly I was full by the last section. It also came with plenty of bacon and scrambled eggs all very good. Finally great views of the mountains in the distance. I loved it and wouldn't hesitate to return if in the area. read more

We wanted to have breakfast before our flight so we chose Spires since its close to the Ontario airport. We both wanted an all meat omelette, which is the Supreme Omelette. It includes bacon, sausage, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions. Plus a choice of hash browns or homestyle potatoes and toast. The table service was great. The family and I got done with a day at the CreepIE Con at Ontario Convention Center so needless to say we were pretty hungry. Spires was a family tradition for my GFs family when they lived in LA county and what happens to be about a mile from our location? I love old school eateries and Spires fits that to a T. From the look, the decor and even the menu oh yes. On this day I ordered the San Franciscan, which is a burger served on grilled sourdough. A very tasty burger but could have used a little seasoning. Maybe because it was hamburger steak they treated it a bit different. Kiddo got the chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and eggs and it was enough that even she couldn't finish. Everyone had their hunger satisfied. Service was friendly although one of the orders got messed up and the wrong thing was brought to the table. Stuff happens! If I'm at another convention in Ontario I'll definitely be returning to Spire's. The location after a long day of walking and looking at stuff is welcome and the food is tasty. With AX Chibi looking like it'll be an annual event and CreepIE Con looking to go twice a year, this might be handy. The menu is also huge so you're bound to find something you enjoy! We tried Spires for the first time last night and loved it! I completely understand why they have been popular for so long. The classic diner ambiance is homey and comforting just like the food. I tried the half tuna melt with soup and salad, and it was delicious and plentiful. I was expecting a cup of soup and small salad, but the half sandwich came with a huge bowl of soup and full size salad. The tuna melt was great - crisp, buttery grilled sourdough, melty jack cheese and delicious tuna salad. My husband had the mushroom burger with onion rings, and he enjoyed it so much. Finally, the service was great too. Our server Johnny was friendly, funny, and perfectly attentive. I definitely recommend Spires if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, reasonable prices, and good, hearty food. read more

Chefs seemed rushed or pressed but place was slightly empty at the time. The fried zucchini were very good but pricey as it was almost the cost of an entire breakfast entree. Great customer service and good looking desserts. They're in a great location being in close proximity to the convention center and hotels. Steady traffic and large dining parties frequented this place. Also fellow customers were nice as well saying hello and holding the doors open for us without us even asking. Stopped by for breakfast with my little girl who wanted a breakfast burrito and pancakes and chocolate milk - specifically! She would take nothing less and I wasn't about to destroy my kitchen for the day so we opted for Spires because Denny's wasn't exactly on our radar from past experiences. We made a great choice coming here. Walked right in to be seated. It was mellow and slightly busy, which added to that classic diner ambiance. Once seated, we looked over the menu for a moment and were able to place our order after just a few minutes. The coffee was served hot and fresh with the option of vanilla creamer, my favorite. We ordered a breakfast burrito, no hashbrowns, since my daughter is the only kid I know that doesn't like potato, side of fruit and pancakes. When the food came out it was steaming hot, my favorite! Now, the pancakes are what really amazed me because of how fluffy and perfect they were stacked. Wish I could have gotten a picture before cutting into them because they were literally PERFECT, like in that Pancake Bunny game from Wreck It Ralph. Biting into them was also a pleasant surprise because they were moist (unlike other diners pancakes) and just about the best pancakes I've had in a while. Moving onto the burrito, egg-cellent! I would definitely order a breakfast burrito without the hashbrown again because it wasn't super heavy and quite enjoyable with the extra protein. It's certainly not a Michelin dining spot but when you're hungry and you're on the road and you're in Ontario that's not really what I crave what I crave is an omelette today I had such an omelette it was perfect, but also to an added Y the only reason why I wanted to write this review the manager makes his own salsa and it's perfect. It's got just enough kick. It's perfect. I actually told the guy you should bottle this stuff and sell it on your own. It's so good!
