Very disappointing experience. went with a group of 12 for dinner where about half of is ordered the dry-aged ribeye steak. I ordered it medium rare and the first steak came out overcooked. Server seemed a little overwhelmed having a group that size and I had to tell him twice that my steak was wrong. the manager came out with a second steak and it was completely raw inside. when I showed her she explained that the first steak was medium rare and so they cooked it for less time. The problem is three other people ordered medium rare and their steaks were perfectly cooked and mine wasn't. Onstrad of firing a new steak they put it back on the grill which basically cooked the ends but left the center raw. By this point I had missed dinner with everyone so I just asked for a new ribeye to go when the server asked if there was anything they could do. He then took dessert orders and as when the dessert came out I realized he never put in the order for the take home steak. I had to ask him to put in the order a second time. Imagine my frustration after missing dinner and coming home to eat and cutting into a steak that was overcooked to medium well. Extremely disappointing experience all things considered. You would think that an $80 steak would be cooked properly after 4 tries. read more

After coming back a few more times for work events, I'd give Corndance an additional star. I've had better luck with the wait staff who are still very casual (compared to LaSalle), but interactive and friendly. It's still really a hit or miss on your service, but they'll usually get the job done in a reasonable time frame. The elote corn and coconut shrimp are my new favorite appetizers, and the lobster rigatoni and porterhouse steaks are fantastic selections! The food is definitely worth the visit if you're okay with a gamble on the service! Overall, this is a great space for medium to larger groups and they are happy to take reservations. read more

We are from New Jersey and made a reservation based on a colleague's suggestion. So glad we did! The food and service was amazing! We had such a hard time deciding because the menu offered so much. Everyone was hugely impressed with their meals- seafood chowder (it's really chunky), tuna poke, Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, coconut shrimp, pork medallions, filet mignon and carrots. The table across from us had a special that was served on sword. Never saw that before! We didn't leave any room for dessert unfortunately. The atmosphere was nice and our server Chantal was the best. This is an awesome place. Yes it's pricey but it's also very very good. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go. read more

Inspired by the Potowatami tribe, "Keepers of the fire", Chef George Pesek creates his menu from local sources as much as possible including ranches, orchards, and vineyards. Just like the Potawatomi's Corn Dances were elaborate and exciting, so is the cuisine and ambiance here. It's unfortunate that the outdoor signage does not convey the experience you are about to recieve inside. Walking in, the smells of seeared meat greets you at the door. Looking through the room you see wine racks and feel like you are at a high end ranch. Seeing the awards on the wall, including a special award for their Bourban, just excites you as you wait for the experience. We were seated in a cozy booth and were promptly greeted by Victoria. In our usual fashion, we asked her what was best here and she steered us well. Her first suggestion, when she found out I was a Bourbon fan, was the Prohibitions Tea Room. It was made up of Old Forester Prohibition1920, Amaro Nonino, Pimm's #1, Heering Cherry, Xocolatl Mole Bitters and orange zest. Now some of you that know your beverages are thinking, "that's just a fancy Manhattan." Let me just say that whoever made the choices of the liquor pairings is my new best friend. The herbal essence, the orange that peaks through the different liquors, the chocolate in the bitters, not to mention the cherry, made one of the best "Manhattans" I have ever had... for only $12. Try and make that at home. I dont have time to talk about how great the Dirty Helen was. After a great start with our beverages, we ordered the Togarashi Tuna as an appetizer (also by the advice of Victoria). They used Yellow fin tuna, prepared like tataki, with a sweet tamarind, ginger and sesame sauce, and Togarashi on the grilled sides of the tuna. The Ahi was definitely a frozen product due to the texture, but the flavor was good for yellow fin. The ginger sauce was tasty but it totally took away the Togarashi flavor and heat. On the side, they served fried rice cakes coated with Togarashi. They tasted great and combining them with the tuna brought a great flavor and contrast in texture. For the main dishes we heard about all of the specials and honestly, I could have been happy with any of them. I was craving their dry aged steak but unfortunately they prepare a certain amount every night (I am guessing they premeasure a certain amount because they sell them by the weight) and they were sold out. Our server went back into the kitchen and said they could set me up with a ribeye and allowed me to come hand pick it from the butcher shop. I picked a beautiful 21oz 60 Day Dry Aged Bone-in Ribeye. My wife, Dana, ordered the Pear and Goat Cheese salad with a side of Buffalo Sprouts. The Ribeye and sides: The ribeye came out on a hot steak plate and was cooked perfectly rare. The dry aging made it buttery soft texture with a distinct flavor of blue cheese and the fat (handpicked with less fat due to rare) was tasty, especially for a rare steak with unrendered fat. The aging sort of "prerendered" the fat so other than the thick outside layer, the inner fat was delicious which is not expected for a rare ribeye. On the side was Elote and smashed potatoes. The Elote was delicious and even though I am not a big fan of cilantro, it was perfectly balanced with a great aioli. The smashed potatoes were roasted, smashed, and topped with a Garlic Aioli. The Pear and Goat Cheese Salad: It came with a mix of greens, batter fried goat cheese, poached pears, and a Bourbon Pear Vinaigrette. It also comes with candied walnuts but she didn't want them; I asked for them on the side and boy they were a good finish to the meal. The poached pears were delicate and flavorful, the bourbon dressing was amazing and the goat cheese, well I heard it was great, Dana didn't share. The side of Buffalo Sprouts were hot and flavorful and the Bourbon and Butcher Bacon was smoked pork belly at its finest. We ended our meal with a Blood Orange Chiffon. The blood orange sauce was very tasty and the prefect level of sweet. The chiffon was flat and dry and the frosting on the side was grainy. It was the only miss all night. Our total meal was $180 with tip and worth every penny of it. The steak itself was $67 but on a cost versus value, I don't feel I paid too much. We will be back; there are not a lot of restaurants in the area that match the quality of the meal the service and the atmosphere. Our daughter lives in the area so we decided to try this place out when we visited - it's so well reviewed. We made the recommended reservation and were still seated right by the kitchen door even though there were other available tables. So step one, don't accept a bad seating with servers almost crashing into each other the whole time. The bread service was okay and the crab dip was tasty. My husband loved his bison meatloaf. My daughter ordered the sea bass special, which comes deboned but posed in motion, with the head, fins, and tail still attached. Kinda traumatic. I ordered crab cakes and brussels sprouts. No flavor to the crab cakes on a mango puree, bland on top of sweet. The Brussels sprouts were tasty but deep fried not roasted, so don't pretend they're healthy. Go if you like expensive streaks, but elsewhere for anything else. Bright spot: the servers were fantastic. read more

I just had dinner at the Corndance and I had a $100 gift card and they wouldn't honor it for the full value. They said the card was too old. They only gave me $25 for the value. I can't even believe this. This is sick terrible service. So if I can't look up the value the restaurant isn't going to give me the full value that I know the card was worth. I will never go back to this restaurant. Terrible management. If it was me and I was manager I would have made it right for my customers. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Corndance tavern can be described as a nice upscale steak place I much prefer this place over Ruth Chris, what sets them apart from the rest is their dry aged steaks and the limited amount they have of said steak. Save your money! We went to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday and will never go back. We ordered the alligator appetizer, the mussels and the coconut shrimp. These were the highlight of the experience. For dinner we ordered the john Adams sword, the pork chop, aged ribeye and the striped bass special. The steak was good but not $4.50 an ounce good. The striped bass was fine, not terribly flavorful but edible. The john Adams sword had charred peppers, sausage, steak and chicken breast the chicken was dry, the steak was good, the sausage was fine and the charred peppers were ok. The pork chop was by far the most disappointing. Our server said it was one of the most popular items on the menu. It was a pork chop with the pork belly still attached. It was deep fried and then flash fried and was basically all fat and the chop Part was very dry. Overall not a great experience. The only saving grace is our daughter was pleased with her meal. read more

We arrived here 5 minutes before opening and the place was already completely packed! People who didn't have reservations were told it would be about a 30 minute wait--so if you plan on going here, I'd definitely make a reservation ahead of time. When we sat down at the table, one of the dishes was really, really dirty. The menu selection was pretty good. And the specials all sounded delicious. We ordered the artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was absolutely incredible, very fresh tasting. After the appetizer, we ordered steaks and burgers. I'm not much of a meat lover, so to me the burgers and steak were just okay at best. And as a former Chicagoan, I think the prices were too high for the Mishawaka area. There was a bit of disconnect between the atmosphere and the prices / quality of the food. I was expecting more, especially for the number of people lined up at the door. But based on how good the artichoke dip was (which is why I gave 4 stars. Otherwise it would've been 3), I'm guessing we just all ordered the wrong thing. It's hard for me to write this review because I felt the side dishes were really tasty and our server was awesome, but their claim to fame here is the "dry-aged" meat and that was completely underwhelming. Traveling from Southern California to root on our Irish, we wanted to try something a little more up upscale this visit. Corndance is highly rated and who can resist a great steak? If you want a dry-aged steak, there's a chalkboard up that shows how many steaks are left for a particular weight in the dry-age category available that day. The weights are in ounces and you pay by the ounce. I went with the 16oz, 180 days aged rib-eye this night at a cost of $4.25/oz. Yes, that's $68 for the steak and two sides. You'd expect some magic from a 180 day aged rib-eye that costs nearly $70. Granted, it comes with a side of white cheddar mashed potatoes and elote corn, but we're talking way more expensive than even Ruth's Chris. Their steaks are grilled, which is fine, I love a good grilled steak. However, my steak tasted no different than a standard rib-eye. The steak was probably barely a half-inch thick with a ton of fat. Here's the weird thing, most restaurants don't dry-age past 120 days. You'd think that 180 days would create even more funk and break down of the collagen. There should be a really intense beef flavor. My steak looked and tasted like a standard grocery store rib-eye. It was chewy, super fatty, inconsistently cooked (some parts were medium-well, there was some medium-rare, etc). Some parts of the steak were super charred while others were perfectly charred. Overall, I was really disappointed here with a $68 steak. I could buy a fresh rib-eye at an awesome butcher, perfectly marbled and nearly 2-inches thick for $30. A dry-aged steak at twice that amount should be a more enjoyable experience. The rest of my guests ordered the standard filet, which they really liked. Our cocktails were good, the wine list is okay, our server was amazing. My suggestion would be to stay away from the dry-aged meat here and just order a standard steak. Save your money for another round of cocktails or a couple of sides to share. read more

This used to be the go to place in Mishawaka with food that really differentiated them from other local restaurants. There are still glimpses of that on their menu, but much of what made it great is gone. I'm not sure they have two or three items that are so unique that you couldn't find anywhere else in town, probably for less at one of the chain restaurants. There were two things that stood out during this dinner experience. The steak tips and blue cheese fondue was really good and the bananas Napoleon continues to be the best dessert in town. The shrimp and lobster pasta was average at best and really too spicy. The fish special was fishy and mushy, probably overdone. Everything else was just ok. The blue cheese wedge, side of broccoli and bison meatloaf all ok, not exceptional. I would come back for dessert and get another bananas Napoleon but that's about it. read more
