The customer service was pretty bad, which is recurring, the person at register was rude and It felt like we were being rushed to order and get out of her way because she clearly didn't want to be there. No suggest of sale or enthusiasm towards selling sweets as this is a bakery, which had i been asked or offered I would've gladly spent my money on a brownie or croissant. The person who did bring our food was nice but nothing special to say about that. I got the BBLT sandwich which was pretty good and a small hot cocoa because of how cold it was and to which i regret. The hot cocoa didn't taste all that good and i could've gotten a pack from HEB for cheaper and that taste much better. I visited Corpus Christi for business several days ago. It rained the entire stay. I was hungry and wanted something light yet tasty. As a Washington, D.C. native and being familiar with the chain, I decided to dine-in. Christina took my order and was extremely friendly, well-groomed, and had a great sense of humor. These characteristics seemed to be the theme at this establishment (everyone being well-groomed and friendly). After sitting down, my food was brought to my table, and I ate and talked on the phone. Mariah was prepping the dining area for the store's closing; however, she checked on me several times, asking if I needed anything else and removing empty plates from my table. As I was packing up to leave, close to the store's closing (around 8:45 pm), I noticed Christina dash out of the store (in the rain, with no jacket on) attempting to catch a patron who had just left the store. The customer left without one of the food items they had ordered. It was very dark in the wet parking lot, and the driver didn't see her flagging them down. She caught them before they could pull out of the parking lot and handed them their missing items. I stood in the restaurant, watching the entire thing. I was soo blown away at the level of customer service. I asked her why did she do it, and her response was "They were nice; We close shortly, and by the time they would have gotten home and realized something was missing, would have been closed." After a previous good experience I took a friend of mine to breakfast this morning. I ordered and everything bagel toasted. When the bagel arrived, there was little indication that had been anywhere near a toaster. So, I brought it back and asked them to repost the bagel. When I returned to the counter several minutes later, I was given a brand new bagel which also seemed hardly toasted. Wondering whether the fact that I wasn't Texas but live in Ohio made some difference about what constituted bagel I simply ate it as it was. Went here for the first time. There was a line but it was fine. The problem I have is the service. There was an individual just standing there behind the counter not doing a thing, meanwhile the line was getting longer. She just stood there swaying back in forth. I mean this place was busy with waiting customers to place their orders but she just stood there. We like to go here for breakfast, the Manager is the best, he is always checking on everyone and always busy with the restaurant, making sure the place is clean and making sure employees are doing their jobs. We had one issue this weekend tho, I specifically ordered the most popular plate that they were promoting on signs everywhere. The Garden Gate breakfast plate which it says has mushrooms. I specifically told the counter person to PLEASE omit the Mushrooms. No mushrooms on the platter. She told me that they didn't come with mushrooms. I trusted her and low and behold we received the plate and it had mushrooms. My girlfriend had to pick out all the mushrooms when it would have been so simple to put NO MUSHROOMS on the notes for the order. I didn't hear the end of that all day. All I can say is paninis are good when warm. After ordering, my fiancé received both sandwiches she ordered with the wrong cheese, my salad had multiple very wilted pieces of lettuces and came out nearly luke warm, and my hot panini came out warm at best. After waiting for 25 minutes before we got up and had to ask where the food was, following watching the people who ordered just ahead of us receive their food 15 minutes prior, everything else icing on the cake. Generally a very underwhelming experience. The flavors saved the day. The ham and swiss par, nothing special about it, but thank goodness the panini was at least warm. The 1/2 chicken pomodori I received was a very satisfying mix of ranch and chicken with some lightening notes of spinach and tomatoes on a sourdough. Food is really mid - only some pastas are good. This location is especially dirty and the management staff is ATROCIOUS and VERY RUDE. No one who works there wants to be there and there are many gnats in and out of the kitchen, holes in the walls and ceilings, strange drips coming from the ceiling, and there have been many flies in soups. The soups are often very cold and lumpy as if they are never mixed or changed out. They also must almost never mop the bathrooms because it was nasty and dark. read more

Two friends and I came here on a Saturday morning for a brunch. It was relatively busy at the time, but not terribly. We all ordered food and coffee, the food came out in a reasonable time and was decent, nothing that stood out, just your typical brunch place. But the coffee took 45 minutes to get to us and we ended up eating our breakfast with no drinks. What was frustrating was we notified the wait staff on 3 different occasions that we were waiting on our coffee, they were extremely dismissive and kept reiterating they were "backed up" while they brought out coffees for other tables that had ordered after us. After 45 minutes and our 3rd comment to a server, we finally got up and went directly to the counter to explain what was going on and our coffees were promptly made and brought out. They had an technical issue with the ordering system - which is fine, it happens. What I can't understand is how we mentioned it to two different staff members, very politely, 3 different times and no one explained what was going on or offered any kind of solution to us other than sitting and waiting. They appeared annoyed by us. Upon approaching the counter ourselves, our coffees had still not been made or started. The staff listening to us the first time would have solved the problem. We sat with empty plates of food for 15 minutes and the coffee still hadn't reached the table and none of the server's we'd mentioned the issue to batted an eye. The service was honestly just really disappointing and unacceptable. These servers need to be better trained in being polite, friendly and attentive as these are the opposite traits of our experience. I felt like we were treated as a nuisance rather than a guest and because of that, I won't be back. read more
